¹⁶ and David lifts up his eyes, and sees the messenger of Yahweh standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, and David falls, and the elders, covered with sackcloth, on their faces.

²⁴ And He is driving out the human, and is causing him to tabernacle at the east of the garden of Eden. And He set the cherubim, and a flaming sword turning itself, to keep the way of the tree of the living.

¹⁹ Hence the messenger of the One, Elohim, who was going before the camp of Israel, journeyed and went behind them. Also the column of cloud journeyed from before them and stood behind them. ²⁰ Thus he came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel. Over there came the cloud and darkness, yet here he lightened up the night. So this one did not come near to that one all the night.

⁵ Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before the whole assembly of the congregation of the sons of Israel.

²² Then they fell on their faces and said:El, Elohim of the spirits for all flesh, as for the one man, he is sinning; but shall You be wrathful over the whole congregation?

³¹ Yahweh exposed the eyes of Balaam so that he saw the messenger of Yahweh stationed in the road with his drawn sword in his hand. So he bowed his head and bowed himself down, with his nostrils to the ground.

¹³ And it comes to pass in Joshua's being by Jericho, that he lifts up his eyes, and looks, and lo, one standing over-against him, and his drawn sword in his hand, and Joshua goes unto him, and said to him, `Are you for us or for our adversaries?. <sup>14</sup> And He said, `No, for I [am] Prince of Yahweh's host; now I have come;' and Joshua falls on his face to the earth, and does obeisance, and said to Him, `What is my Lord speaking unto His servant?.

²⁷ And it comes to pass, at Ahab's hearing these words, that he rends his garments, and puts sackcloth on his flesh, and fasts, and lies in sackcloth, and goes gently.

¹⁷ And Elisha prays, and said, `Yahweh, open, I pray You, his eyes, and he does see;' and Yahweh opens the eyes of the young man, and he sees, and lo, the hill is full of horses and chariots of fire, round about Elisha.

¹ And it comes to pass, at king Hezekiah's hearing, that he rends his garments, and covers himself with sackcloth, and enters the house of Yahweh,

¹³ As for me, when they were ill my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, Yet my prayer, it turned back on my bosom." ¹⁴ As for an associate, as for my brother, I walked about grieving; Like one mourning for his mother, I bowed down in somberness."

⁶ And the word is touching the king of Nineveh. And he is rising from his throne and is transferring his fur robe from him, and he is covering himself with sackcloth and is sitting on ashes." ⁷ And he is calling a convocation, and he is saying in Nineveh, By the decree of the king and his great ones, saying:Human and beast, herd and flock must not be tasting aught. They must not be grazing, and water they must not be drinking." ⁸ The human and the beast shall cover themselves with sackcloths. And they shall call with steadfastness to Elohim. And they shall turn back, each man, from his evil way and from the wrong which is in their palms."
