¹⁴ Sons of Manasseh:Ashriel, whom Jaladah his Aramean concubine bare, with Machir father of Gilead.

²³ And seeing is Joseph Ephraim's sons to the third generation. Moreover, the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were born on Joseph's knees.

²⁹ The sons of Manasseh were:through Machir the Machirite family, and Machir begat Gilead; through Gilead the Gileadite family. ³⁰ These were the sons of Gilead:through Jezer the Jezerite family; through Helek the Helekite family; ³¹ through Asriel the Asrielite family; through Shechem the Shechemite family; ³² through Shemida the Shemidaite family; through Hepher the Hepherite family. ³³ Zelophehad son of Hepher came to have no sons but rather daughters. And the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were:Malhah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah. ³⁴ These were the families of Manasseh by their mustered ones, fifty two thousand seven hundred.

¹ Then the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh son of Joseph, came near. These were the names of his daughters:Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.

³⁰ Yet if those outfitted should not cross over with you, then they will be given a holding in your midst in the land of Canaan. ³¹ The sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, saying:What Yahweh has spoken to your servants so shall we do. ³² We, the outfitted, shall cross over before Yahweh to the land of Canaan, yet for us the holding of our allotment is across the Jordan. ³³ So Moses gave to them, to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and to the half tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorite and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land belonging to its cities within its territories and the cities of the land around. ³⁴ The sons of Gad rebuilt Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer, ³⁵ Atroth-shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah, ³⁶ Beth-nimran and Beth-haran as fortress cities or stone dikes for flocks. ³⁷ As for the sons of Reuben, they rebuilt Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim, ³⁸ as well as Nebo and Baal-meon (turned around in name), and Sibmah; for they called the names of the cities which they rebuilt by their own names. ³⁹ The sons of Machir son of Manasseh went to Gilead; they seized it and evicted the Amorite who was in it. ⁴⁰ So Moses gave Gilead to Machir son of Manasseh, and he dwelt in it. ⁴¹ As for Jair son of Manasseh, he went and seized their settlements and called them Havvoth-jair. ⁴² As for Nobah, he went and seized Kenath and its outskirts. And he called it Nobah by his own name.

¹³ The rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Manasseh, including the whole district of Argob. All of that Bashan is called the country of the Rephaim. ¹⁴ Jair son of Manasseh, he took the whole district of Argob as far as the boundary of the Geshurite and the Maachathite and called them (that is, Bashan) by his own name, Havvoth-jair, until this day. ¹⁵ And to Machir I gave Gilead.

³¹ and the half of Gilead, and Ashteroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, [are] to the sons of Machir, son of Manasseh, to the half of the sons of Machir, for their families.

¹ And the lot is for the tribe of Manasseh (for he [is] first-born of Joseph), for Machir first-born of Manasseh, father of Gilead, for he has been a man of war, and his are Gilead and Bashan. ² And there is for the sons of Manasseh who are left, for their families; for the sons of Abiezer, and for the sons of Helek, and for the sons of Asriel, and for the sons of Shechem, and for the sons of Hepher, and for the sons of Shemida; these [are] the children of Manasseh son of Joseph--the males--by their families. ³ As to Zelophehad, son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, he has no children except daughters, and these [are] the names of his daughters:Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah,

¹⁴ Out of Ephraim their root [is] against Amalek. After you, Benjamin, among your peoples. Out of Machir came down lawgivers, And out of Zebulun those drawing with the reed of a writer.

²¹ And afterwards has Hezron gone in unto a daughter of Machir father of Gilead, and he has taken her, and he [is] a son of sixty years, and she bears to him Segub. ²² And Segub begat Jair, and he has twenty and three cities in the land of Gilead, ²³ and he takes Geshur and Aram, the small villages of Jair, from them, with Kenath and its small towns, sixty cities--all these [belonged to] the sons of Machir father of Gilead.
