¹ And king Solomon is king over all Israel, ² and these [are] the heads whom he has:Azariah son of Zadok [is] the priest; ³ Elihoreph and Ahiah sons of Shisha [are] scribes; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer; ⁴ and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is] over the host; and Zadok and Abiathar [are] priests; ⁵ and Azariah son of Nathan [is] over the officers; and Zabud son of Nathan [is] minister, friend of the king;" ⁶ And Ahishar [is] over the household, and Adoniram son of Abda [is] over the tribute. ⁷ And Solomon has twelve officers over all Israel, and they have sustained the king and his household--a month in the year is on each one for sustenance;" ⁸ and these [are] their names:Ben-Hur in the hill-country of Ephraim; ⁹ Ben-Dekar in Makaz, and Shaalbim, and Beth-Shemesh, and Elon-Beth-Hanan. ¹⁰ Ben-Hesed [is] in Aruboth, has Sochoh and all the land of Hepher;" ¹¹ Ben-Abinadab [has] all the elevation of Dor, Taphath daughter of Solomon became his wife. ¹² Baana Ben-Ahilud [has] Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-Shean, which [is] by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Beth-Shean unto Abel-Meholah, unto beyond Jokneam. ¹³ Ben-Geber, in Ramoth-Gilead, has the small towns of Jair son of Manasseh, which [are] in Gilead; he has a portion of Argob that [is] in Bashan, sixty great cities [with] wall and brazen bar. ¹⁴ Ahinadab son of Iddo [has] Mahanaim. ¹⁵ Ahimaaz [is] in Naphtali; he also has taken Basemath daughter of Solomon for a wife. ¹⁶ Baanah Ben-Hushai [is] in Asher, and in Aloth. ¹⁷ Jehoshaphat Ben-Paruah [is] in Issachar. ¹⁸ Shimei Ben-Elah [is] in Benjamin. ¹⁹ Geber Ben-Uri [is] in the land of Gilead, the land of Sihon king of the Amorite, and of Og king of Bashan:and one officer who [is] in the land. ²⁰ Judah and Israel [are] many, as the sand that [is] by the sea for multitude, eating and drinking and rejoicing. ²¹ And Solomon has been ruling over all the kingdoms, from the River [to] the land of the Philistines and unto the border of Egypt:they are bringing nigh a present, and serving Solomon, all days of his life. ²² And the provision of Solomon for one day is thirty cors of flour, and sixty cors of meal;" ²³ ten fat oxen, and twenty feeding oxen, and a hundred sheep, apart from hart, and roe, and fallow-deer, and fatted beasts of the stalls, ²⁴ for he is ruling over all beyond the river, from Tiphsah and unto Gaza, over all the kings beyond the river, and he has peace from all his servants round about. ²⁵ And Judah dwells--and Israel--in confidence, each under his vine, and under his fig-tree, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, all the days of Solomon. ²⁶ And Solomon has forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. ²⁷ And these officers have sustained king Solomon and every one drawing near unto the table of king Solomon, each [in] his month; they let nothing be lacking. ²⁸ And the barley and the straw, for horses and for dromedaries, they bring in unto the place where they are, each according to his ordinance. ²⁹ And Elohim gives wisdom to Solomon, and understanding, very much, and breadth of heart, as the sand that [is] on the edge of the sea;" ³⁰ and the wisdom of Solomon is greater than the wisdom of any of the sons of the east, and than all the wisdom of Egypt;" ³¹ and he is wiser than all men, than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, sons of Mahol, and his name is in all the nations round about. ³² And he speaks three thousand similes, and his songs [are] five, and the chief one;" ³³ and he speaks concerning the trees, from the cedar that [is] in Lebanon, even unto the hyssop that is coming out in the wall, and he speaks concerning the cattle, and concerning the fowl, and concerning the creeping things, and concerning the fishes, ³⁴ and there come out of all the peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth who have heard of his wisdom.

²⁰ And saying is the Elohim, "Roam shall the water with the roaming, living soul, and the flyer shall fly over the earth on the face of the atmosphere of the heavens." And coming is it to be so. ²¹ And creating is the Elohim great monsters and every living moving soul, with which the water roams, for their from-kind, and every winged flyer for its from-kind. And seeing is the Elohim that it is good. ²² And blessing them is the Elohim, saying, "Be fruitful and increase and fill the water of the seas. And the flyer is to be increasing in the earth. ²³ And coming is it to be evening and coming to be morning, the fifth day. ²⁴ And saying is the Elohim, "Bring forth shall the earth the living soul for its from-kind, beast and moving animal and land life for its from-kind. "And coming is it to be so. ²⁵ And making is the Elohim, the land life for its from-kind, and the beast for its from-kind, and every moving animal of the ground for its from-kind. And seeing is the Elohim that it is good.

¹⁹ And coming is the boundary of the Canaanite to be from Sidon, as you come toward Gerar unto Gaza, as you come toward Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zebolim, unto Lasha.

¹⁶ And I make your seed as the soil of the land. Could a man count the soil of the land, moreover, then your seed shall be counted.

⁵ And forth is he bringing him outside and saying, "Look, pray, toward the heavens and number the stars, if you can number them.And saying is He to him, "Thus shall your seed become.

¹⁸ In that day Yahweh contracted a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your seed I give this land, from the stream of Egypt as far as the great stream, the stream Euphrates,

¹⁷ that, blessing, yea, blessing you am I, and increasing, yea, increasing your seed am I as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the sea shore. And your seed shall tenant the gateway of its enemies,

⁶ And to the sons of the concubines which are Abraham's, Abraham gives gifts. And sending them is he away from Isaac, his son, while he is still living, eastward to the land of the East.

² And saying is Jacob as he sees them, "The camp of the Elohim is this!"And calling is he the name of that place Mahanaim.

¹² And you said, `Good, yea, good will I do to you, and I make your seed as the sand of the sea, which is not being numbered for multitude..

⁴⁹ And heaping up is Joseph cereals as the sand of the sea, multiplied exceedingly furthermore, so that he leaves off numbering, for there is no numbering it.

²² Then you will take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood which is in the basin and touch the lintel and the two jambs with the blood which is in the basin. As for you, not one of you shall go forth from the portal of his house until the morning.

²¹ Now you shall perceive among all the people men of ability, fearful of Elohim, men of truth, hating gain. You will place these over them as chiefs of thousands, chiefs of hundreds, chiefs of fifties and chiefs of tens.

³¹ And I will set your boundary from the Sea of Weeds unto the sea of the Philistines and from the wilderness unto the Stream, for I shall give into your hand the dwellers of the land, and you will drive them out from your presence.

¹⁸ A clean man will take hyssop, dip it in the water and spatter it on the tent and on all the vessels and on the souls which are there and on the one touching a bone or one wounded to death or a dead body or a tomb.

²¹ Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorite with words of peace, saying. ²² Let me pass through your land. We shall not turn aside into field or into vineyard. We shall not drink water of any well. By the king's road shall we go until we cross over your boundary. ²³ Yet Sihon would not allow Israel to cross over at his boundary. Sihon gathered all his people and went forth to meet Israel toward the wilderness. He came to Jahaz and fought against Israel. ²⁴ Yet Israel smote him with the edge of the sword and tenanted his land from the Arnon as far as the Jabbok, as far as the sons of Ammon, for the boundary of the sons of Ammon was Jazer. ²⁵ Israel took all these cities. Israel also dwelt in all the cities of the Amorite, in Heshbon and in all its outskirts, ²⁶ for Heshbon, it was a city of Sihon king of the Amorite. He had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore those discoursers say:Come to Heshbon, let it be rebuilt, and let the city of Sihon establish itself. ²⁸ For a fire came forth from Heshbon, a blaze from the town of Sihon. It devoured Ar of Moab, the possessors of the fane heights of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You have perished, people of Chemosh! He gave up his sons delivered from slaughter, and his daughters into captivity to Sihon, king of the Amorite. ³⁰ We shot them; Heshbon perished as far as Dibon; we caused desolation until the fire was blown as far as Medeba. ³¹ When Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorite, ³² Moses sent men to spy out Jazer. They seized its outskirts and evicted the Amorite who was there. ³³ Then they turned around and went up by the Bashan road. Og king of Bashan went forth to meet them, he and all his people, for battle at Edrei. ³⁴ Now Yahweh said to Moses:Do not fear him, for into your hand I give him and all his people and his land. You will do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorite who was dwelling in Heshbon. ³⁵ So they smote him and his sons and all his people until no survivor at all remained for him; and they tenanted his land.

⁶ Like the watercourses are they stretched out, like gardens along a stream, like the aloes Yahweh has planted, like the cedars beside the waters.

⁴¹ As for Jair son of Manasseh, he went and seized their settlements and called them Havvoth-jair.

²⁶ Then I sent messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon, with words of peace, saying.

⁴ Then we seized all his cities at that time. There was not a town which we did not take from them, sixty cities, the whole district of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

⁸ At that time we took the area from the hand of the two kings of the Amorite who were in Transjordan, from the watercourse of Arnon as far as Mount Hermo.

¹³ The rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Manasseh, including the whole district of Argob. All of that Bashan is called the country of the Rephaim. ¹⁴ Jair son of Manasseh, he took the whole district of Argob as far as the boundary of the Geshurite and the Maachathite and called them (that is, Bashan) by his own name, Havvoth-jair, until this day.

⁴³ Bezer in the wilderness in the tableland country for the Reubenite, and Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadite, and Golan in Bashan for the Manassite.

²⁴ Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall become yours. From the wilderness and the Lebanon, from the great stream, the stream Euphrates, as far as the western sea shall become your territory.

¹⁶ But he shall neither increase horses for himself nor cause his people to return to Egypt in order to get many more horses, for Yahweh, He has said to you:You should not again return in this way further.

⁴ From this wilderness and Lebanon, and unto the great river, the river Phrath, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great Sea--the going in of the sun--is your border.

¹⁶ that the waters stand; those coming down from above have risen--one heap, very far above Adam the city, which [is] at the side of Zaretan; and those going down by the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, have been completely cut off; and the people have passed through over-against Jericho;"

² and unto the kings who [are] on the north in the hill-country, and in the plain south of Chinneroth, and in the low country, and in the elevations of Dor, on the west,

¹⁷ The king of Tappuah, one; The king of Hepher, one;"

²³ The king of Dor, at the elevation of Dor, one; The king of the Goyim of Gilgal, one;"

⁹ from Aroer, which [is] on the edge of the brook Arnon, and the city which [is] in the midst of the brook, and all the plain of Medeba unto Dihon, ¹⁰ and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorite, who reigned in Heshbon, unto the border of the Bene-Ammon, ¹¹ and Gilead, and the border of the Geshurite, and of the Maachathite, and all mount Hermon, and all Bashan unto Salcah;" ¹² all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei; he was left of the remnant of the Rephaim, and Moses does smite them, and dispossess them;"

²⁶ and from Heshbon unto Ramath-Mispeh, and Betonim, and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir,

³⁵ Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

² And there is for the sons of Manasseh who are left, for their families; for the sons of Abiezer, and for the sons of Helek, and for the sons of Asriel, and for the sons of Shechem, and for the sons of Hepher, and for the sons of Shemida; these [are] the children of Manasseh son of Joseph--the males--by their families.

¹¹ And Manasseh has in Issachar and in Asher, Beth-Shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of En-Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, three counties.

²⁰ and the Jordan does border it at the east quarter; this [is] the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, by its borders round about, for their families. ²¹ And the cities for the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, for their families, have been Jericho, and Beth-Hoglah, and the valley of Keziz, ²² and Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, and Beth-El, ²³ and Avim, and Parah, and Ophrah, ²⁴ and Chephar-Haammonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities and their villages. ²⁵ Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth, ²⁶ and Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah, ²⁷ and Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah, ²⁸ and Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi (it [is] Jerusalem), Gibeath, Kirjath:fourteen cities and their villages. This [is] the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, for their families.

¹⁷ For Issachar has the fourth lot gone out, for the sons of Issachar, for their families;" ¹⁸ and their border is [at] Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem, ¹⁹ and Haphraim, and Shihon, and Anaharath, ²⁰ and Rabbith, and Kishion, and Abez, ²¹ and Remeth, and En-Gannim, and En-Haddah, and Beth-Pazzez;" ²² and the border has touched against Tabor, and Shahazimah, and Beth-Shemesh, and the outgoings of their border have been [at] the Jordan; sixteen cities and their villages. ²³ This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, for their families, the cities and their villages. ²⁴ And the fifth lot goes out for the tribe of the sons of Asher, for their families;" ²⁵ and their border is Helkath, and Hali, and Beten, and Achshaph, ²⁶ and Alammelech, and Amad, and Misheal; and it touches against Carmel westward, and against Shihor-Libnath;" ²⁷ and has turned back, at the sun-rising, [to] Beth-Dagon, and come against Zebulun, and against the valley of Jiphthah-El toward the north of Beth-Emek, and Neiel, and has gone out unto Cabul on the left, ²⁸ and Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, unto great Zidon;" ²⁹ and the border has turned back to Ramah, and unto the fenced city Tyre; and the border has turned back to Hosah, and its outgoings are at the sea, from the coast to Achzib, ³⁰ and Ummah, and Aphek, and Rehob; twenty and two cities and their villages. ³¹ This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher, for their families, these cities and their villages. ³² For the sons of Naphtali has the sixth lot gone out, for the sons of Naphtali, for their families;" ³³ and their border is from Heleph, from Allon in Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, unto Lakkum, and its outgoings are [at] the Jordan;" ³⁴ and the border has turned back westward [to] Aznoth-Tabor, and gone out thence to Hukkok, and touched against Zebulun on the south, and against Asher it has touched on the west, and against Judah [at] the Jordan, at the sun-rising;" ³⁵ and the cities of defence [are] Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Chinnereth, ³⁶ and Adamah, and Ramah, and Hazor, ³⁷ and Kedesh, and Edrei, and En-Hazor, ³⁸ and Iron, and Migdal-El, Horem, and Beth-Anath, and Beth-Shemesh; nineteen cities and their villages. ³⁹ This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, for their families, the cities and their villages.

⁴² and Shalabbin, and Aijalon, and Jethlah,

⁸ and beyond the Jordan, [at] Jericho eastward, they have given Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain, out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.

¹⁶ and Ain and its suburbs, and Juttah and its suburbs, Beth-Shemesh and its suburbs; nine cities out of these two tribes.

³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge [for] the man-slayer, Ramoth in Gilead and its suburbs, and Mahanaim and its suburbs,

³³ And Eleazar son of Aaron died, and they bury him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given to him in the hill-country of Ephraim.

²⁷ And Manasseh has not occupied Beth-Shean and its towns, and Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Iblaim and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in that land;"

³⁵ and the Amorite is desirous to dwell in mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and the hand of the house of Joseph is heavy, and they become tributary;"

¹⁹ Kings came--they fought; Then fought kings of Canaan, In Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo; Gain of money they took not!"

¹² and Midian and Amalek, and all the sons of the east are lying in the valley, as the locust for multitude, and of their camels there is no number, as sand which [is] on the sea-shore for multitude.

¹ And Samson goes to Gaza, and sees there a woman, a harlot, and goes in unto her;"

¹ And there is a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name [is] Micah,

¹ And it comes to pass, in those days, when there is no king in Israel, that there is a man a Levite, a sojourner in the sides of the hill-country of Ephraim, and he takes to him a wife, a concubine, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah;"

¹ And all the sons of Israel go out, and the company is assembled as one man, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, and the land of Gilead, unto Yahweh, at Mizpeh.

¹² And the kine go straight in the way, on the way to Beth-Shemesh, in one highway they have gone, going and lowing, and have not turned aside right or left; and the princes of the Philistines are going after them unto the border of Beth-Shemesh.

²⁰ And the men of Beth-Shemesh say, `Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy Elohim? and unto whom does He go up from us?.

²⁷ and the sons of worthlessness have said, `What! this one does save us!' and they despise him, and have not brought to him a present; and he is as one deaf.

¹⁸ And David said unto Saul, `Who [am] I? and what my life--the family of my father in Israel--that I am son-in-law to the king?.

¹⁶ And he brings him down, and lo, they are spread out over the face of all the earth, eating, and drinking, and feasting, with all the great spoil which they have taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.

¹⁰ and they place his weapons [in] the house of Ashtaroth, and his body they have fixed on the wall of Beth-Shan.

¹² and all the men of valor arise, and go all the night, and take the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, from the wall of Beth-Shan, and come in to Jabesh, and burn them there,

⁸ And Abner, son of Ner, head of the host which Saul has, has taken Ish-Bosheth, son of Saul, and causes him to pass over to Mahanaim,

⁵ in Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.

² that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, `See, I pray you, I am dwelling in a house of cedars, and the ark of Elohim is dwelling in the midst of the curtain..

⁴ and David captures from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David destroys utterly the whole of the charioteers, only he leaves of them a hundred charioteers.

¹⁵ And David reigns over all Israel, and David is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people, ¹⁶ and Joab son of Zeruiah [is] over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer,

¹ And Yahweh sends Nathan unto David, and he comes unto him, and said to him:`Two men have been in one city; One rich and one poor;" <sup>2</sup> The rich has flocks and herds very many; <sup>3</sup> And the poor one has nothing, Except one little ewe-lamb, Which he has bought, and keeps alive, And it grows up with him, And with his sons together; Of his morsel it eats, And from his cup it drinks, And in his bosom it lies, And it is to him as a daughter;" <sup>4</sup> And there comes a traveller to the rich man, And he spares to take Of his own flock, and of his own herd, To prepare for the traveller Who has come to him, And he takes the ewe-lamb of the poor man, And prepares it for the man Who has come unto him.. <sup>5</sup> And the anger of David burns against the man exceedingly, and he said unto Nathan, `Yahweh lives, surely a son of death [is] the man who is doing this, ⁶ and the ewe-lamb he does repay fourfold, because that he has done this thing, and because that he had no pity.. ⁷ And Nathan said unto David, `You [are] the man! Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, I anointed you for king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul;" <sup>8</sup> and I give to you the house of your lord, and the wives of your lord, into your bosom, and I give to you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if little, then I add to you such and such [things]. <sup>9</sup> `Wherefore have you despised the word of Yahweh, to do the evil thing in His eyes? Uriah the Hittite you have smitten by the sword, and his wife you have taken to you for a wife, and him you have slain by the sword of the Bene-Ammon. ¹⁰ `And now, the sword does not turn aside from your house unto the eon, because you have despised Me, and do take the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be to you for a wife;" <sup>11</sup> thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am raising up against you evil, out of your house, and have taken your wives before your eyes, and given to your neighbor, and he has lain with your wives before the eyes of this sun;" <sup>12</sup> for you have done [it] in secret, and I do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.. <sup>13</sup> And David said unto Nathan, `I have sinned against Yahweh.' And Nathan said unto David, `Also--Yahweh has caused your sin to pass away; you do not die;" ¹⁴ only, because you have caused the enemies of Yahweh greatly to despise by this thing, also the son who is born to you does surely die.. ¹⁵ And Nathan goes unto his house, and Yahweh smites the lad, whom the wife of Uriah has born to David, and it is incurable;"

²⁵ and sends by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and calls his name Jedidiah, because of Yahweh.

²⁷ And the king said unto Zadok the priest, `Are you a seer? turn back to the city in peace, and Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan son of Abiathar, your two sons with you;"

³² And it comes to pass, David has come unto the top, where he bows himself to Elohim, and lo, to meet him [is] Hushai the Archite, his coat rent, and earth on his head;"

³⁷ And Hushai, David's friend, comes in to the city, and Absalom comes in to Jerusalem.

¹⁶ and it comes to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, has come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, `Let the king live! let the king live!.

¹¹ `So that I have counselled:Let all Israel be diligently gathered unto you, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, as the sand that [is] by the sea for multitude, and you yourself are going in the midst;"

²⁴ And David came to Mahanaim, and Absalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him;"

²⁷ And it comes to pass at the coming in of David to Mahanaim, that Shobi, son of Nahash, from Rabbah of the Bene-Ammon, and Machir son of Ammiel, from Lo-Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite, from Rogelim,

³⁷ Let, I pray you, your servant turn back again, and I die in mine own city, near the burying-place of my father and of my mother, --and lo, your servant Chimham, let him pass over with my lord the king, and do you to him that which [is] good in your eyes.. ³⁸ And the king said, `With me does Chimham go over, and I do to him that which [is] good in your eyes, yea, all that you do fix on me I do to you..

²³ And Joab [is] over all the host of Israel, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is] over the Cherethite, and over the Pelethite, ²⁴ and Adoram [is] over the tribute, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] the remembrancer,

¹⁵ And Yahweh gives a pestilence on Israel from the morning even unto the time appointed, and there die of the people, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, seventy thousand men,

⁸ and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty ones whom David has, have not been with Adonijah.

¹⁰ and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty ones, and Solomon his brother, he has not called. ¹¹ And Nathan speaks unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, saying, `Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has reigned, and our lord David has not known? <sup>12</sup> and now, come, let me counsel you, I pray you, and deliver your life, and the life of your son Solomon;" <sup>13</sup> go and enter in unto king David, and you have said unto him, Have you not, my lord, O king, sworn to your handmaid, saying, Surely Solomon your son does reign after me, and he does sit on my throne? and wherefore has Adonijah reigned? <sup>14</sup> Lo, you are yet speaking there with the king, and I come in after you, and have completed your words.. <sup>15</sup> And Bath-Sheba comes in unto the king, to the inner chamber, and the king [is] very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving the king. <sup>16</sup> and Bath-Sheba bows and does obeisance to the king, and the king said, `What--to you?. ¹⁷ And she said to him, `My lord, you have sworn by Yahweh your Elohim to your handmaid:Surely Solomon your son does reign after me, and he does sit on my throne;" <sup>18</sup> and now, lo, Adonijah has reigned, and now, my lord, O king, you have not known;" <sup>19</sup> and he sacrifices ox, and fatling, and sheep in abundance, and calls for all the sons of the king, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab head of the host--and for Solomon your servant he has not called. <sup>20</sup> And you, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel [are] on you, to declare to them who does sit on the throne of my lord the king after him;" <sup>21</sup> and it has been, when my lord the king lies with his fathers, that I have been, I and my son Solomon--[reckoned] sinners.. <sup>22</sup> And lo, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet has come in;" <sup>23</sup> and they declare to the king, saying, `Lo, Nathan the prophet;' and he comes in before the king, and bows himself to the king, on his face to the earth. ²⁴ And Nathan said, `My lord, O king, you have said, Adonijah does reign after me, and he does sit on my throne;" <sup>25</sup> for he has gone down to-day, and does sacrifice ox, and fatling, and sheep, in abundance, and calls for all the sons of the king, and for the heads of the host, and for Abiathar the priest, and lo, they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Let king Adonijah live!" <sup>26</sup> `And for me--me, your servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, and for Solomon your servant, he has not called;" ²⁷ if from my lord the king this thing has been, then you have not caused your servant to know who does sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.. ²⁸ And king David answers and said, `Call for me for Bath-Sheba;' and she comes in before the king, and stands before the king. <sup>29</sup> And the king swears and said, `Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity;" ³⁰ surely as I sware to you by Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, saying, Surely Solomon your son does reign after me, and he does sit on my throne in my stead; surely so I do this day.. ³¹ And Bath-Sheba bows--face to the earth--and does obeisance to the king, and said, `Let my lord, king David, live to the eon.. <sup>32</sup> And king David said, `Call for me for Zadok the priest, and for Nathan the prophet, and for Benaiah son of Jehoiada;' and they come in before the king. ³³ And the king said to them, `Take with you the servants of your lord, and you have caused Solomon my son to ride on mine own mule, and caused him to go down unto Gihon, <sup>34</sup> and anointed him there has Zadok the priest--and Nathan the prophet--for king over Israel, and you have blown with a trumpet, and said, Let king Solomon live;" <sup>35</sup> and you have come up after him, and he has come in and has sat on my throne, and he does reign in my stead, and him I have appointed to be leader over Israel, and over Judah.. <sup>36</sup> And Benaiah son of Jehoiada answers the king, and said, `Amen! so does Yahweh, Elohim of my lord the king, say;" ³⁷ as Yahweh has been with my lord the king, so is He with Solomon, and does make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.. ³⁸ And Zadok the priest goes down, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause Solomon to ride on the mule of king David, and cause him to go unto Gihon, ³⁹ and Zadok the priest takes the horn of oil out of the tent, and anoints Solomon, and they blow with a trumpet, and all the people say, `Let king Solomon live.. <sup>40</sup> And all the people come up after him, and the people are piping with pipes, and rejoicing--great joy, and the earth rends with their voice. <sup>41</sup> And Adonijah hears, and all those called, who [are] with him, and they have finished to eat, and Joab hears the noise of the trumpet, and said, `Wherefore [is] the noise of the city roaring?. ⁴² He is yet speaking, and lo, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest has come in, and Adonijah said, `Come in, for a man of valor you [are], and you bear good tidings.. <sup>43</sup> And Jonathan answers and said to Adonijah, `Verily our lord king David has caused Solomon to reign, ⁴⁴ and the king sends with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause him to ride on the king's mule, ⁴⁵ and they anoint him--Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet--for king in Gihon, and are come up thence rejoicing, and the city is moved; it [is] the noise that you have heard. ⁴⁶ `And also Solomon has sat on the throne of the kingdom, <sup>47</sup> and also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord king David, saying, Your Elohim does make the name of Solomon better than your name, and his throne greater than your throne; and the king bows himself on the bed, <sup>48</sup> and also thus has the king said, Blessed [is] Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, who has given to-day [one] sitting on my throne, and mine eyes seeing.. <sup>49</sup> And they tremble, and rise--all those called who [are] for Adonijah--and go, each on his way;" <sup>50</sup> and Adonijah fears because of Solomon, and rises, and goes, and lays hold on the horns of the altar. <sup>51</sup> And it is declared to Solomon, saying, `Lo, Adonijah fears king Solomon, and lo, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me as to-day--he does not put to death his servant by the sword.. ⁵² And Solomon said, `If he becomes a virtuous man--there does not fall of his hair to the earth, and if evil is found in him--then he has died.. <sup>53</sup> And king Solomon sends, and they bring him down from off the altar, and he comes in and bows himself to king Solomon, and Solomon said to him, `Go to your house..

²⁶ And to Abiathar the priest said the king, `To Anathoth go, unto your fields; for a man of death you [are], but in this day I do not put you to death, because you have borne the ark of the Lord Yahweh before David my father, and because you wast afflicted in all that my father was afflicted in.. ²⁷ And Solomon casts out Abiathar from being priest to Yahweh, to fulfil the word of Yahweh which He spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

³⁵ and the king puts Benaiah son of Jehoiada in his stead over the host, and Zadok the priest has the king put in the stead of Abiathar.

⁸ and Your servant [is] in the midst of your people, whom You have chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude,

¹² lo, I have done according to your words; lo, I have given to you a heart, wise and understanding, that like you there has not been before you, and after you there does not arise like you;"

²⁸ And all Israel hear of the judgment that the king has judged, and fear because of the king, for they have seen that the wisdom of Elohim [is] in his heart, to do judgment.

⁷ And Solomon has twelve officers over all Israel, and they have sustained the king and his household--a month in the year is on each one for sustenance;"

¹¹ Ben-Abinadab [has] all the elevation of Dor, Taphath daughter of Solomon became his wife.

²⁰ Judah and Israel [are] many, as the sand that [is] by the sea for multitude, eating and drinking and rejoicing. ²¹ And Solomon has been ruling over all the kingdoms, from the River [to] the land of the Philistines and unto the border of Egypt:they are bringing nigh a present, and serving Solomon, all days of his life.

²⁴ for he is ruling over all beyond the river, from Tiphsah and unto Gaza, over all the kings beyond the river, and he has peace from all his servants round about.

⁴ `And now, Yahweh my Elohim has given rest to me round about, there is no adversary nor evil occurrence,

⁷ And it comes to pass at Hiram's hearing the words of Solomon, that he rejoices exceedingly, and said, `Blessed [is] Yahweh to-day, who has given to David a wise son over this numerous people..

¹³ And king Solomon lifts up a tribute out of all Israel, and the tribute is thirty thousand men, ¹⁴ and he sends them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month, by changes, a month they are in Lebanon, two months in their own house; and Adoniram [is] over the tribute.

⁴⁶ In the circuit of the Jordan has the king cast them, in the thick soil of the ground, between Succoth and Zarthan.

¹⁵ And this [is] the matter of the tribute that king Solomon has lifted up, to build the house of Yahweh, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer,

¹ And the queen of Sheba is hearing of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of Yahweh, and comes to try him with enigmas,

⁶ And she said unto the king, `True has been the word that I heard in my land, concerning your matters and your wisdom;"

²³ And king Solomon is greater than any of the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom, ²⁴ and all the earth is seeking the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom that Elohim has put into his heart, ²⁵ and they are bringing each his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, the matter of a year in a year. ²⁶ And Solomon gathers chariots, and horsemen, and he has a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he places them in the cities of the chariot, and with the king in Jerusalem.

¹³ only all the kingdom I do not rend away; one tribe I give to your son, for the sake of David My servant, and for the sake of Jerusalem, that I have chosen..

³⁵ and I have taken the kingdom out of the hand of his son, and given it to you--the ten tribes;" ³⁶ and to his son I give one tribe, for there being a lamp to David My servant all the days before Me in Jerusalem, the city that I have chosen to Myself to put My name there.

¹⁸ And king Rehoboam sends Adoram who [is] over the tribute, and all Israel cast at him stones, and he dies; and king Rehoboam has strengthened himself to go up into a chariot to flee to Jerusalem;" ¹⁹ and Israel transgresses against the house of David unto this day. ²⁰ And it comes to pass, at all Israel's hearing that Jeroboam has returned, that they send and call him unto the company, and cause him to reign over all Israel; none has been after the house of David save the tribe of Judah alone.

⁴⁶ and the hand of Yahweh has been on Elijah, and he girds up his loins, and runs before Ahab, till your entering Jezreel.

¹⁶ and Jehu son of Nimshi you do anoint for king over Israel, and Elisha son of Shaphat, of Abel-Meholah, you do anoint for prophet in your stead.

³ and the king of Israel said unto his servants, `Have you not known that ours [is] Ramoth-Gilead? and we are keeping silent from taking it out of the hand of the king of Aram!.

¹ And Elisha the prophet has called to one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, `Gird up your loins, and take this vial of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth-Gilead,

¹⁴ And Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, conspires against Joram--(and Joram was keeping in Ramoth-Gilead, he and all Israel, from the presence of Hazael king of Aram,

³ against him came up Shalmaneser king of Asshur, and Hoshea is to him a servant, and does render to him a present.

³¹ `Do not hearken unto Hezekiah, for thus said the king of Asshur, Make with me a blessing, and come out unto me, and eat you each of his vine, and each of his fig-tree, and drink you each the waters of his own well,

²³ By the hand of your messengers You have reproached the Lord, and say:In the multitude of my chariots I have come up to a high place of mountains--The sides of Lebanon, And I cut down the height of its cedars, The choice of its firs, And I enter the lodging of its extremity, The forest of its Carmel.

²⁹ In his days has Pharaoh-Nechoh king of Egypt come up against the king of Asshur, by the river Phrat, and king Josiah goes out to meet him, and he puts him to death in Megiddo, when he sees him. ³⁰ And his servants cause him to ride dying from Megiddo, and bring him in to Jerusalem, and bury him in his own grave, and the people of the land take Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and anoint him, and cause him to reign instead of his father.

⁶ And sons of Zerah:Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara; all of them five.

⁸ and Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Ahimaaz, ⁹ and Ahimaaz begat Azariah, and Azariah begat Johanan, ¹⁰ and Johanan begat Azariah, him who acted as priest in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem.

³³ And these [are] those standing, and their sons:of the sons of the Kohathite:Heman the singer, son of Joel, son of Shemuel,

⁶⁸ and Jokmeam and its suburbs, and Beth-Horan and its suburbs,

³⁸ All these [are] men of war, keeping rank--with a perfect heart they have come to Hebron, to cause David to reign over all Israel, and also all the rest of Israel [are] of one heart, to cause David to reign, ³⁹ and they are there, with David, three days, eating and drinking, for their brethren have prepared for them.

¹⁷ And the Levites appoint Heman son of Joel, and of his brethren, Asaph son of Berechiah, and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan son of Kushaiah;"

¹⁹ and the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, with cymbals of brass to sound,

⁶ and David puts [garrisons] in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans are to David for servants, bearing a present, and Yahweh gives salvation to David whithersoever he has gone.

¹⁵ and Joab son of Zeruiah [is] over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer,

⁹ `Lo, a son is born to you; he is a man of rest, and I have given rest to him from all his enemies round about, for Solomon is his name, and peace and quietness I give unto Israel in his days;"

¹ And the sons of Israel, after their number, heads of the fathers, and princes of the thousands and of the hundreds, and their officers, those serving the king in any matter of the courses, that are coming in and going out month by month, throughout all months of the year--[are] in each course twenty and four thousand. ² Over the first course, for the first month, [is] Jashobeam son of Zabdiel, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand;" ³ of the sons of Perez [is] the head of all princes of the hosts for the first month. ⁴ And over the course of the second month [is] Dodai the Ahohite, and his course, and Mikloth [is] the president, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ⁵ Head of the third host, for the third month, [is] Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the head priest, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ⁶ This Benaiah [is] a mighty one of the thirty, and over the thirty, and [in] his course [is] Ammizabad his son. ⁷ The fourth, for the fourth month, [is] Asahel brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ⁸ The fifth, for the fifth month, [is] the prince Shamhuth the Izrahite, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ⁹ The sixth, for the sixth month, [is] Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ¹⁰ The seventh, for the seventh month, [is] Helez the Pelonite, of the sons of Ephraim, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ¹¹ The eighth, for the eighth month, [is] Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhite, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ¹² The ninth, for the ninth month, [is] Abiezer the Antothite, of the Benjamite, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ¹³ The tenth, for the tenth month, [is] Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhite, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ¹⁴ Eleventh, for the eleventh month, [is] Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the sons of Ephraim, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand. ¹⁵ The twelfth, for the twelfth month, [is] Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel, and on his course [are] twenty and four thousand.

¹⁷ of the Levite, Hashabiah son of Kemuel; of the Aaronite, Zadok;"

³³ and Ahithophel [is] counsellor to the king; and Hushai the Archite [is] the friend of the king;

¹⁰ now, wisdom and knowledge give to me, and I go out before this people, and I come in, for who does judge this Your great people?. ¹¹ And Elohim said to Solomon, `Because that this has been with your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, and honor, and the life of those hating you, and also many days have not asked, and do ask for yourself wisdom and knowledge, so that you do judge My people over which I have caused you to reign-. ¹² the wisdom and the knowledge is given to you, and riches and wealth and honor I give to you, that there has not been so to the kings who [are] before you, and after you it is not so..

¹⁴ and Solomon gathers chariots and horsemen, and he has a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he places them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.

²⁵ And there are to Solomon four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placed them in cities of the chariot, and with the king in Jerusalem. ²⁶ And he is ruling over all the kings from the River even unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt. ²⁷ And the king makes the silver in Jerusalem as stones, and the cedars he has made as sycamores, that [are] in the low country, for abundance, ²⁸ and they are bringing out horses from Egypt to Solomon, and from all the lands. ²⁹ And the rest of the matters of Solomon, the first and the last, are they not written beside the matters of Nathan the prophet, and beside the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and with the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat? ³⁰ And Solomon reigns in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years,

²³ and many are bringing in an offering to Yahweh, to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, and he is lifted up before the eyes of all the nations after this.

²⁰ There were mighty kings over Jerusalem with authority over the whole province Beyond-the-Stream; and tribute, tax and toll were granted to them.

¹⁷ and of the Jews, and of the prefects, a hundred and fifty men, and those coming in unto us of the nations that [are] round about us, [are] at my table;" ¹⁸ and that which has been prepared for one day [is] one ox, six fat sheep, also fowls have been prepared for me, and once in ten days of all wines abundantly, and with this, the bread of the governor I have not sought, for heavy is the service on this people.

¹⁰ Mordecai wrote in the name of King Xerxes, sealed with the king's ring and sent letters by means of couriers on horseback, riding the stallions of the royal service, those bred of its stud-mares.

¹⁴ The couriers, riding the stallions of the royal service, rode forth, speeding up posthaste by order of the king; and the edict was promulgated in the castle of Susa.

³ and his acquisitions came to be a flock of seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred pair of oxen and five hundred jennies, besides very many servants. And this man came to be the greatest of all the sons of the East.

⁷ These boast in chariots, and those in horses, But as for us, concerning the Name of Yahweh our Elohim, we are ever mindful."

¹² Many young bulls surround me; Sturdy ones of Bashan, they compass me about."

⁷ Expiate me with the hyssop, and I shall be clean; Rinse me, and I shall be whiter than snow."

¹⁵ The mountain of Elohim is the mountain of Bashan; A lofty mountain is the mountain of Bashan.

Who is like Yahweh among the sons of the elim? ⁷ El is greatly terrifying among the council of the saints, And fear inspiring to all those round about Him." ⁸ O Yahweh, Elohim of hosts, Who is like You, an invincible Yah, With Your faithfulness round about You? ⁹ You are Ruler over the swelling sea; When its billows are lifted, You becalm them." ¹⁰ You crushed Rahab who became like one slain; With Your strong arm You dispersed Your enemies. ¹¹ Yours are the heavens; indeed Yours is the earth; The habitance and its fullness, You founded them." ¹² The north and the south, You created them; Tabor and Hermon are jubilant in Your Name." ¹³ Yours is an arm with mastery; Your hand is strong; Your right hand is exalted. ¹⁴ Righteousness and right judgment are the basis of Your throne; Benignity and truth stand before Your presence. ¹⁵ Happy are the people who know the joyful shouting; O Yahweh, they shall walk in the light of Your presence." ¹⁶ In Your Name shall they exult the entire day, And in Your righteousness shall they be exalted." ¹⁷ For You are the beauty of their strength, And by Your benevolence shall our horn be exalted." ¹⁸ For our shield is of Yahweh, And our king is of the Holy One of Israel." ¹⁹ Then You spoke in a vision to Your benign ones, And You said:I have poised help on a master; I have exalted one chosen from the people." ²⁰ I have found David My servant; With My holy oil have I anointed him, ²¹ With whom My hand shall stand readied; Indeed My arm shall make him resolute. ²² The enemy shall not astrict him, And the son of iniquity shall not humiliate him." ²³ I will pound down his foes before him, And I shall strike against those hating him." ²⁴ Yet My faithfulness and My benignity will be with him, And in My Name shall his horn be exalted." ²⁵ I will place his hand over the sea, And his right hand over the streams." ²⁶ He shall call out to Me, You are my Father, My El and the Rock of my salvation." ²⁷ Indeed, I shall make him the firstborn, The uppermost of the kings of the earth." ²⁸ For the eon shall I keep My benignity upon him, And My covenant with him is faithful." ²⁹ I will establish his seed for the future, And his throne as the days of the heavens." ³⁰ If his sons should forsake My law, And they should not walk in My ordinances, ³¹ If they should profane My statutes And should not keep My instructions, ³² Then I will visit their transgression with a club, And their depravity with contagions." ³³ Yet I shall not withdraw My benignity from him, And I shall not be false in My faithfulness." ³⁴ I shall not profane My covenant, And I shall not alter the utterance of My lips." ³⁵ Once for all have I sworn by My holiness; I shall assuredly not lie to David: ³⁶ His seed shall continue for the eon, And his throne as the sun in front of Me, ³⁷ Like the moon, it shall be established for the eon, Faithful like that witness in the sky. {Interlude{ " ³⁸ Yet You have cast off and are rejecting; You are enraged with Your anointed. ³⁹ You have disowned the covenant with Your servant; You have profaned his insignia down to the earth. ⁴⁰ You have breached all his stone dikes; You have made fatal cracks in his defenses. ⁴¹ All those passing by the way rob him; He has become a reproach to his neighbors. ⁴² You have exalted the right hand of his foes; You have made all his enemies rejoice. ⁴³ Indeed You turn back the sharpness of his sword, And have not raised him up in battle." ⁴⁴ You have caused his luster to cease, And You have toppled his throne to the earth." ⁴⁵ You have shortened the days of his adolescence; You have muffled him with shame. {Interlude{ ⁴⁶ How long, O Yahweh; shall You be concealed permanently? How long shall Your fury consume like fire? ⁴⁷ Remember how transient is my life, For what futility have You created all the sons of humanity? ⁴⁸ What master could live and not see death? Could his soul escape from the hand of the unseen? {Interlude{ ⁴⁹ Where are Your former benignities, O Yahweh, Which You swore to David in Your faithfulness? ⁵⁰ Remember, O Yahweh, the reproach of Your servants; I bear in my bosom the mortification from many peoples, ⁵¹ With which Your enemies reproach, O Yahweh, With which they reproach the heel-prints of Your anointed one." ⁵² Blessed be Yahweh for the eon. ¹² The righteous one shall bud like a palm tree; Like a cedar in Lebanon, he shall grow great."

³⁴ Make me understand, and I will preserve Your law And keep it with all my heart."

¹ The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:" ² To know wisdom and discipline, To comprehend sayings of understanding, ³ To procure the discipline to act intelligently In justice and judgment and equities, ⁴ To give to the simple, prudence, To youth, knowledge and foresight--" ⁵ The wise one may also hear and add to his education, And the man of understanding may acquire skills--" ⁶ To understand proverb and puzzle, The words of the wise and their enigmas." ⁷ The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; The foolish despise wisdom and discipline. ⁸ Hear, my son, the admonition of your father, And do not abandon the law of your mother." ⁹ For they are a wreath of grace for your head, And necklaces for your throat." ¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice you, do not comply with them;" ¹¹ If they say, Do walk with us, Let us wait in ambush for blood, Let us lurk gratuitously for the innocent, ¹² Like the unseen, we shall swallow them up alive, And robust like those descending to a crypt, ¹³ All precious wealth shall we find, We shall fill our houses with loot, ¹⁴ Let your lot be cast in our midst, There shall be one purse for us all, ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them; Withhold your foot from their track." ¹⁶ For their feet run to evil, And they hasten to shed blood." ¹⁷ For gratuitously is the net tossed Before the eyes of all the possessors of wings. ¹⁸ Yet they themselves wait in ambush for their own blood; They lurk for their own souls. ¹⁹ Such is the end of all who are greedy for gain; It takes away the soul of its possessors. ²⁰ Wisdom is jubilating in the street; In the squares she is giving forth her voice. ²¹ At the top of the walls she is calling; At the portals of the gates in the city she is speaking her words: ²² How long, O simple ones, shall you love simplicity, And mockers covet their mocking, And the stupid hate knowledge? ²³ May you turn back at my correction; Behold, let me utter what is in my spirit to you; Let me make known my words to you." ²⁴ Because I called, and you refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one attended, ²⁵ And you renounced all my counsel, And you would not heed my reproof, ²⁶ Indeed, I myself shall ridicule you in your calamity; I shall deride when alarm comes upon you, ²⁷ When alarm comes upon you like a tumult, And calamity, it arrives upon you like a sweeping whirlwind, When distress and constraint come upon you." ²⁸ Then they shall call me, yet I shall not answer; They shall seek me early, yet shall not find me." ²⁹ Because they hated knowledge And would not choose the fear of Yahweh, ³⁰ They would not heed my counsel, They spurned all my correction, ³¹ Thus they shall eat of the fruit of their way, And they shall be surfeited with the results of their counsels."

⁶ For Yahweh Himself gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and comprehension;

²⁸ In a multitude of people is a king's honor, Yet in a limit of the population is a chancellor's dismay."

¹¹ He who loves a clean heart, on whose lips is grace, The king shall be his associate."

¹² I myself, the Assembler, came to be king over Israel in Jerusalem."

¹⁶ I spoke with my heart, saying, Behold, I have grown great and have added in wisdom Over all who were before me in Jerusalem; My heart has seen much of wisdom and knowledge."

²⁴ There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink And cause his soul to see good from his toil; This too I see that it is from the hand of Elohim.

²⁶ For to the man who is good before Him, He gives wisdom and knowledge and rejoicing; Yet to the sinner He gives the experience of gathering and of collecting wealth, To give it to one who is good before the One, Elohim; This too is vanity and a grazing on wind."

⁹ Yet furthermore, because the Assembler was wise, He still taught the people knowledge, And he listened and investigated And set in order many proverbs."

¹ The song of songs, which is Solomonic:" ² Let him kiss me with kisses of his mouth. Indeed your affections are better than wine; ³ As for scent, your attars are well pleasing; Your name is like attar as it is being emptied out; Therefore, the damsels love you." ⁴ Draw me after you; let us run; The king would bring me to his chambers. (We would exult and rejoice with you; We do commemorate your affections as better than wine.) The upright love you. ⁵ Dusky am I, yet comely, O daughters of Jerusalem, Like the tents of Kedar, Like the sheets of Solomon." ⁶ Do not stare at me because I am dusky, Because the sun has glared upon me; My mother's sons burned hot against me; They placed me custodian over the vineyards; Over my vineyard which was for myself, I had not the custody." ⁷ Do tell me, you whom my soul loves, Where do you graze your flock? Where do you recline them at noon? Why should I become like a muffled woman Beside the droves of your partners? ⁸ If you do not know for yourself, loveliest among women, Go forth for yourself at the heels of the flock, And graze your kids by the tabernacles of the shepherds." ⁹ To my mare among the chariots of Pharaoh I liken you, my dearest." ¹⁰ Your cheeks are comely with bead-rows, Your neck with threaded gems." ¹¹ (We shall make bead-rows of gold for you, With specks of silver.)" ¹² While the king was in his surroundings, My nard gave forth its scent." ¹³ A sachet of myrrh is my darling to me, Lodged between my breasts." ¹⁴ A cluster of henna blossoms is my darling to me, In the vineyards of Engedi." ¹⁵ How lovely you are, my dearest! How lovely you are; your eyes are like doves!" ¹⁶ How lovely you are, my darling, indeed so pleasant! Indeed our divan is under flourishing trees, ¹⁷ The rafters of our grand house are cedars, And our gutters are firs."

² And it comes in the days hereafter, established shall be the mount of Yahweh, and the house of the Elohim, on the summit of the mountains, and borne by the hills. And stream to it all the nations."

⁷ To the increase of the chieftainship, and to the welfare shall be no end. On the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to prepare it, and to brace it with judgment and with justice, henceforth and in the future eon. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this."

¹¹ Yea! Foolish are the chiefs of Zoan, the wise counselors of Pharaoh give brutish counsel. How will you say to Pharaoh, "I am a son of the wise, a son of former kings"? ¹² Whereat, indeed, are your wise? And, pray, will they tell to you, and will they know what Yahweh of hosts counsels over Egypt?

¹³ yet behold! Elation will they make and rejoicing, killing an ox and slaying from the flock, eating flesh and drinking wine, saying, "Eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die."

⁵ Then you shall see and beam. And awed and wide will be your heart, for turned to you shall be the throng of the sea. The estate of nations shall come to you."

¹⁸ And no further shall violence be heard in your land, devastation and breaking within your boundaries. And you call your walls "Salvation,and your gates "Praise."

⁶ Over your walls, Jerusalem, I give the supervision to keepers. All the day and all the night, continually, they shall not hush reminding Yahweh. There must be no stillness for you!"

⁵ Lo, days are coming--an affirmation of Yahweh, And I have raised to David a righteous shoot, And a king has reigned and acted wisely, And done judgment and righteousness in the earth." ⁶ In his days is Judah saved, and Israel dwells confidently, And this his name that Yahweh proclaims him, `Our Righteousness.'"

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, I cause to shoot up to David a shoot of righteousness, And he has done judgment and righteousness in the earth." ¹⁶ In those days is Judah saved, And Jerusalem does dwell confidently, And this [is] he whom Yahweh proclaims to her:`Our Righteousness.'"

²² As the host of the heavens is not numbered, Nor the sand of the sea measured, So I multiply the seed of David My servant, And the Levites My ministers.'"

¹¹ And you have said:I go up against a land of unwalled villages, I go in to those at rest, dwelling confidently, All of them are dwelling without walls, And bar and doors they have not."

²⁰ in every matter of wisdom and of understanding which the king seeks of them, he is finding them tenfold above all the sacred scribes and magi which are in all his kingdom. Hence they are honored by the king; he constitutes them chiefs, and he finds them wiser in word than all those in his land and in his kingdom."

⁷ Then went in the sacred scribes, the magi, the Chaldeans and the hieromancers, and I am stating the dream before them, yet its interpretation they did not make known to me."

¹¹ Actually, a master is in your kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy Elohim, and in the days of your grandfather a stream of light and intelligence and wisdom, as the wisdom of the Elohim, was found in him. King Nebuchadnezzar your grandfather set him up to be grandee of the sacred scribes, the magi, the Chaldeans and the hieromancers of your grandfather the king, ¹² forasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge and intelligence in the interpreting of dreams, the disclosure of problems and the untying of knots was found in him, that is in Daniel on whom the king placed his name Belteshazzar. Now Daniel shall be called, and he will disclose the interpretation."

¹³ Harness the chariot to a stallion, dweller of Lachish. She is the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion, for in you are found the transgressions of Israel."

⁴ And each man sits under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one is causing them to tremble. For the mouth of Yahweh of hosts has spoken,

⁹ All of them will come for violence. The endeavor of their faces is toward the east; and they shall gather the captives as sand.

¹⁰ In that day, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), you shall invite each man his associate to come under the vine and under the fig tree."

²³ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:In those days ten mortals, from all the languages of the nations, will take fast hold. And they will take fast hold of the hem of a man, a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for we hear that Elohim is with you."

¹⁵ Yahweh of hosts shall protect them, and they devour, and they subdue the sling-stones; and they drink; they clamor as from wine; and they are full as a sprinkling bowl, as the garners of the altar."

¹³ the family of the house of Levi alone, and their wives alone; the family of Shimei alone, and their wives alone;"

¹ Now, at Jesus' being born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, lo! magi from the East came along into Jerusalem,

¹⁶ Then Herod, perceiving that he was scoffed at by the magi, was very furious, and, dispatching, he massacred all the boys in Bethlehem and in all its boundaries, from two years and below, according to the time which he ascertains exactly from the magi.

²⁴ And forth came the tidings of Him into the whole of Syria. And they bring to Him all who have an illness, those with various diseases and pressing torments, also demoniacs and epileptics and paralytics, and He cures them.

⁴² The queen of the south will be roused in the judging with this generation and will be condemning it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and lo! more than Solomon is here!"

³⁵ so that fulfilled may be that which is declared through the prophet saying, I shall be opening My mouth in parables, I shall be emitting what is hid from the disruption."

¹⁴ Glory to God among the Highest! And on earth peace, Among men, delight!"

³¹ The queen of the south will be roused in the judging with the men of this generation and will be condemning them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and lo! more than Solomon is here!"

²³ Now one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying back in the bosom of Jesus."

¹⁴ You are My friends, if you should be doing whatever I am directing you." ¹⁵ No longer am I terming you slaves, for the slave is not aware what his lord is doing. Yet I have declared you friends, for all that I hear from My Father I make known to you."

⁴⁶ Besides persevering day by day with one accord in the sanctuary, besides breaking bread home by home, they partook of nourishment with exultation and simplicity of heart,

²² And Moses was trained in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, yet was powerful in his words and works."

²⁸ whom also God, indeed, placed in the ecclesia, first, apostles, second, prophets, third, teachers, thereupon powers, thereupon graces of healing, supports, pilotage, species of languages."

³ in Whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are concealed.

¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who meets with Abraham returning from the combat with the kings and blesses him, ² to whom Abraham parts a tithe also, from all; being first, indeed, translated king of righteousness,yet thereupon king of Salem, also, which is "king of Peace";"

¹⁹ For, every precept being spoken by Moses to the entire people according to the law, taking the blood of calves and of he-goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, he sprinkles both the scroll itself and the entire people,

⁵ Now if anyone of you is lacking wisdom, let him be requesting it from God, Who is giving to all generously and is not reproaching, and it shall be given to him."

¹⁷ All good giving and every perfect gratuity is from above, descending from the Father of lights, in Whom there is no mutation or shadow from revolving motion."

²³ And fulfilled was the scripture which is saying, Now "Abraham believes God, and it is reckoned to him for righteousness,and he was called "the friend of God."

¹⁷ Now the wisdom from above is first, indeed, pure, thereupon peaceable, lenient, compliant, bulging with mercy and good fruits, undiscriminating, unfeigned."
