¹ And David comes in to Nob, unto Ahimelech the priest, and Ahimelech trembles at meeting David, and said to him, `Wherefore [are] you yourself alone, and no man with you?. <sup>2</sup> And David said to Ahimelech the priest, `The king has commanded me a matter, and he said unto me, Let no man know anything of the matter about which I am sending you, and which I have commanded you; and the young men I have caused to know at such and such a place;" ³ and now, what is there under your hand? five loaves give into my hand, or that which is found.. ⁴ And the priest answers David, and said, `There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if the youths have been kept only from women.. <sup>5</sup> And David answers the priest, and said to him, `Surely, if women have been restrained from us as heretofore in my going out, then the vessels of the young men are holy, and it [is] a common way:and also, surely to-day it is sanctified in the vessel.. ⁶ And the priest gives to him the holy thing, for there was no bread there except the bread of the Presence which is turned aside from the presence of Yahweh to put hot bread in the day of its being taken away. ⁷ And there [is] a man of the servants of Saul on that day detained before Yahweh, and his name [is] Doeg the Edomite, chief of the shepherds whom Saul has. ⁸ And David said to Ahimelech, `And is there not here under your hand spear or sword? for neither my sword nor my vessels have I taken in my hand, for the matter of the king was urgent.. <sup>9</sup> And the priest said, `The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you did smite in the valley of Elah, lo, it is wrapped in a garment behind the ephod, if it you do take to yourself, take; for there is none other save it in this [place].' And David said, `There is none like it--give it to me.. <sup>10</sup> And David rises and flees on that day from the face of Saul, and comes in unto Achish king of Gath;" <sup>11</sup> and the servants of Achish say unto him, `Is not this David king of the land? is it not of this one they sing in dances, saying, `Saul smote among his thousands, and David among his myriads?. <sup>12</sup> And David lays these words in his heart, and is exceedingly afraid of the face of Achish king of Gath, <sup>13</sup> and changes his behavior before their eyes, and feigns himself mad in their hand, and scribbles on the doors of the gate, and lets down his spittle unto his beard. <sup>14</sup> And Achish said unto his servants, `Lo, you see a man acting as a madman; why do you bring him in unto me? ¹⁵ A lack of madmen [have] I, that you have brought in this one to act as a madman by me! does this one come in unto my house?.

³ and Ahiah, son of Ahitub, brother of I-Chabod, son of Phinehas son of Eli priest of Yahweh in Shiloh, bearing an ephod; and the people knew not that Jonathan has gone.

⁴ And Samuel does that which Yahweh has spoken, and comes in to Beth-Lehem, and the elders of the city tremble to meet him, and [one] said, `Is your coming peace?.

⁹ And answer does Doeg the Edomite, who is set over the servants of Saul, and said, `I have seen the son of Jesse coming in to Nob, unto Ahimelech son of Ahitub, <sup>10</sup> and he asks for him at Yahweh, and provision has given to him, and the sword of Goliath the Philistine has given to him. <sup>11</sup> And the king sends to call Ahimelech son of Ahitub, the priest, and all the house of his father, the priests, who [are] in Nob, and they come all of them unto the king;" <sup>12</sup> and Saul said, `Hear, I pray you, son of Ahitub;' and he said, `Here [am] I, my lord.. <sup>13</sup> And Saul said unto him, `Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, by your giving to him bread and a sword, and to ask for him at Elohim, to rise against me, to lie in wait, as [at] this day?. ¹⁴ And Ahimelech answers the king and said, `And who among all your servants [is] as David--faithful, and son-in-law of the king, and has turned aside unto your council, and is honored in your house? <sup>15</sup> To-day have I begun to ask for him at Elohim? far be it from me! let not the king lay anything against his servant, against any of the house of my father, for your servant has known nothing of all this, less or more.. <sup>16</sup> And the king said, `You do surely die, Ahimelech, you, and all the house of your father.. ¹⁷ And the king said to runners, those standing by him, `Turn round, and put to death the priests of Yahweh, because their hand also [is] with David, and because they have known that he is fleeing, and have not uncovered mine ear;' and the servants of the king have not been willing to put forth their hand to come against the priests of Yahweh. <sup>18</sup> And the king said to Doeg, `Turn round you, and come against the priests;' and Doeg the Edomite turns round, and comes himself against the priests, and puts to death in that day eighty and five men bearing a linen ephod, ¹⁹ and Nob, the city of the priests, he has smitten by the mouth of the sword, from man even unto woman, from infant even unto suckling, and ox, and ass, and sheep, by the mouth of the sword.

³² Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,

³² Still today in Nob is he to stand! He is waving his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, and at the hills of Jerusalem."

²⁶ How he entered into the house of God under Abiathar the chief priest, and ate the show bread, which is not allowed to be eaten except by the priests, and he gives also to those who are with him?

²⁰ And saying is Isaac to his son, "What is this? You hasted to find it, my son!"And saying is he, "For Yahweh, your Elohim, caused it to happen before me.

²⁴ And saying is he, "This is you, my son Esau?And saying is he, "I am.

¹⁷ And Saul said unto Michal, `Why thus have you deceived me--that you do send away mine enemy, and he is escaped?' and Michal said unto Saul, `He said unto me, Send me away:why do I put you to death?.

²² And David said to Abiathar, `I have known on that day when Doeg the Edomite [is] there, that he does certainly declare [it] to Saul; I have brought [it] round to every person of the house of your father;"

¹⁸ And he said to him, `I also [am] a prophet like you, and a messenger spoke unto me by the word of Yahweh, saying, Bring him back with you unto your house, and he does eat bread and drink water;' --he has lied to him.

²⁹ Withdraw the false way from me, And favor me with Your own law."

¹² For, before the coming of some from James, he ate together with those of the nations. Yet when they came, he shrank back, and severed himself, fearing those of the Circumcision."

⁹ Do no lie to one another, stripping off the old humanity together with its practices,

²⁹ and oh that this people were in my hand--then I turn Abimelech aside;' and he said to Abimelech, `Increase your host, and come out..

⁴ And the priest answers David, and said, `There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if the youths have been kept only from women..

⁶ For a man is grasping his brother, of the household of his father, saying, "Raiment have you! Our captain shall you become! And this food shall be under your hands."

¹⁵ Then he said to the people: Be prepared for three days; do not come close to a woman.

³⁰ Then you will put the bread of the presence on the table before Me regularly.

⁵ You will take flour and bake of it twelve perforated cakes. Two tenths of an ephah shall there be for one perforated cake. ⁶ And you will place them in two arrays, six to the array, on the pure table before Yahweh. ⁷ You will put along each array clear frankincense, and it will be used instead of the bread as a memorial portion, a fire offering to Yahweh. ⁸ Sabbath day by sabbath day shall he arrange it before Yahweh regularly on behalf of the sons of Israel, an eonian covenant. ⁹ It will be for Aaron and for his sons, and they will eat it in a holy place, for it is a holy of holies for him from the fire offerings of Yahweh. It is an eonian statute.

⁶ And the priest gives to him the holy thing, for there was no bread there except the bread of the Presence which is turned aside from the presence of Yahweh to put hot bread in the day of its being taken away.

³ to say to the priests who are in the house of Yahweh of hosts, and to the prophets, saying:Shall I lament in the fifth month, to be sequestered, just as I do this how many years?

³ Yet He said to them, "Did you not read what David does when he hungers, and those with him:" ⁴ how he entered into the house of God and they ate the show bread, which he was not allowed to eat, neither those with him, except the priests only?

⁵ Do not deprive one another, except sometime it should be by agreement for a period, that you should gave leisure for prayer, and you may be the same again, lest Satan may be trying you because of your incontinence."

²⁶ From the tray of unleavened cakes which is before Yahweh he took one unleavened perforated cake and one perforated cake of oil bread and one wafer, and he placed them on the fat portions and on the right leg.

⁹ It will be for Aaron and for his sons, and they will eat it in a holy place, for it is a holy of holies for him from the fire offerings of Yahweh. It is an eonian statute.

¹⁵ Yet the Lord said to him "Go, for he is a choice instrument of Mine, to bear My name before both the nations and kings, besides the sons of Israel,

³ For this is the will of God: your holiness. You are to be abstaining from all prostitution; ⁴ each of you is to be aware of his own vessel, to be acquiring it in holiness and honor,

²⁰ Now in a great house there are not only gold and silver utensils, but wooden and earthenware also, and some indeed for honor, yet some for dishonor." ²¹ If, then, anyone should ever be purging himself from these, he will be a utensil for honor, hallowed, and useful to the Owner, made ready for every good act."

¹⁷ For it is better to be suffering for doing good, if the will of God may be willing, than for doing evil,

²⁵ And He said to them, "Did you never read what David does, when he had need and hungers, he and those with him? ²⁶ How he entered into the house of God under Abiathar the chief priest, and ate the show bread, which is not allowed to be eaten except by the priests, and he gives also to those who are with him? ²⁷ And He said to them, "The sabbath came because of mankind, and not mankind because of the sabbath,

³ And answering, Jesus said to them, "Did you not even read this, which David does once when he hungers, he and those who are with him, ⁴ how he entered into the house of God, and, taking the showbread, he ate also, and gives to those with him also, that which is not allowed to be eaten except only by the priests?

⁷ And coming is a contention between the graziers of Abram's cattle and the graziers of Lot's cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite are then dwelling in the land. ⁸ And saying is Abram to Lot, "There must not, pray, come to be contention between me and you, and between my graziers and your graziers, for mortals, brethren are we.

²⁰ And contending are the graziers of Gerar with Isaac's graziers saying, "Ours is the water.And calling is he the name of the well Esek, for extortionate show they themselves with him.

⁵ and lo, Saul has come after the herd out of the field, and Saul said, `What--to the people, that they weep?' and they recount to him the words of the men of Jabesh.

⁴⁷ and Saul captured the kingdom over Israel, and he fights round about against all his enemies, against Moab, and against the Bene-Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines, and whithersoever he turns he does vex [them].

⁹ And answer does Doeg the Edomite, who is set over the servants of Saul, and said, `I have seen the son of Jesse coming in to Nob, unto Ahimelech son of Ahitub,

²⁹ and over the herds that are feeding in Sharon [is] Shitrai the Sharonite; and over the herds in the valleys [is] Shaphat son of Adlai;

¹⁰ and he builds towers in the wilderness, and digs many wells, for he had much cattle, both in the low country and in the plain, husbandmen and vine-dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he was a lover of the ground.

¹ {Contemplating, Davidic{ {When Doeg the Edomite came to tell Saul, saying to him, David has come to the house of Ahimelech.{ Why are you boasting in evil, O masterful man? Only the benignity of El lasts the entire day." ² Your tongue devises woes, Like a honed razor, you who practice deceit." ³ You love evil rather than good, Falsehood rather than speaking righteousness. {Interlude{ " ⁴ You love all pernicious words, O you deceitful tongue." ⁵ But El, He shall break you down permanently; He shall rake you up and tear you out from your tent, And He will root you out from the land of the living. {Interlude{ " ⁶ Then the righteous shall see and fear, And they shall ridicule him and say:" ⁷ Here is the master who is not making Elohim his stronghold, And is trusting in the vastness of his riches; He is strengthening himself by his works of woe." ⁸ Yet I am like an olive tree flourishing in the House of Elohim; I trust in the benignity of Elohim which lasts for the eon and further. ⁹ I shall acclaim You for the eon, for You have acted, And I shall expect in Your Name, for it is good, Doing this in front of Your benign ones. {Permanent{ "

⁹ Stealing, murdering, and committing adultery, And swearing to falsehood, and giving perfume to Baal, And going after other elohims whom you knew not." ¹⁰ And you have come in and stood before Me, In this house on which My name is called, And have said, `We have been delivered,' In order to do all these abominations." ¹¹ A den of burglars has this house, On which My name is called, been in your eyes? Even I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Yahweh."

³¹ And they come in unto you as the coming in of a people, And they sit before you--My people, And have heard your words, and they do them not, For doting loves with their mouth they are making, After their dishonest gain their heart is going."

⁵ saying, when will the new moon pass, that we may retail victuals, and the sabbath, that we may open out the cereal, to make the ephah measure small, and to make the shekel weight great, and to distort the scales by deceit,

⁸ This people with their lips is honoring Me, Yet their heart is away at a distance from Me."

²⁶ Then Paul, taking the men along on the next day, being purified together with them, had been in the sanctuary, publishing the full completion of the days of purification, till the approach present for each one of them was offered." ²⁷ Now as the seven days were about to be concluding, Jews from the province of Asia, gazing at him in the sanctuary, threw the entire throng into confusion, and laid hands on him,

⁶ They will make the vestment of gold, blue purple, double-dipped crimson and corded cambric, the handiwork of a designer. ⁷ Two joining shoulderpieces shall be for it, on both its ends where it is made to join. ⁸ And the designed band of his vestment which shall be on it, shall be like its handiwork of one piece with it, of gold, blue, purple, double-dipped crimson and corded cambric. ⁹ Then you will take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel, ¹⁰ six of their names on the one stone and the six names left, on the second stone, according to their genealogical annals. ¹¹ With the handiwork of lapidary, as the engravings of a seal, shall you engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall make them set round about with mountings of gold filigree. ¹² Then you will place the two stones on the shoulderpieces of the vestment as memorial stones for the sons of Israel, and Aaron will bear their names before Yahweh on his two shoulderpieces as a reminder. ¹³ You will make the mountings of gold filigree, ¹⁴ with two braids of pure gold; you shall make them to be boundaries, a handiwork of rope, and you will put the braided ropes on the mountings.

² and Saul and the men of Israel have been gathered, and encamp by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array to meet the Philistines.

⁵⁰ And David is stronger than the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smites the Philistine, and puts him to death, and there is no sword in the hand of David, ⁵¹ and David runs and stands over the Philistine, and takes his sword, and draws it out of its sheath, and puts him to death, and cuts off with it his head; and the Philistines see that their hero [is] dead, and flee. ⁵² And the men of Israel rise--also Judah--and shout, and pursue the Philistines till you enter the valley, and unto the gates of Ekron, and the wounded of the Philistines fall in the way of Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron, ⁵³ and the sons of Israel turn back from burning after the Philistines, and spoil their camps. ⁵⁴ And David takes the head of the Philistine, and brings it in to Jerusalem, and his weapons he has put in his own tent.

¹⁰ and they place his weapons [in] the house of Ashtaroth, and his body they have fixed on the wall of Beth-Shan.

¹ And David said unto his heart, `Now am I consumed one day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing for me better than that I diligently escape unto the land of the Philistines, and Saul has been despairing of me--of seeking me any more in all the border of Israel, and I have escaped out of his hand.. ² And David rises, and passes over, he and six hundred men who [are] with him, unto Achish son of Maoch king of Gath;"

³ And he fears, and rises, and goes for his life, and comes in to Beer-Sheba, that [is] Judah's, and leaves his young man there,

¹ {Davidic{ {When he altered his sanity before Abimelech so that he drove him out, and he went away.{ Let me bless Yahweh in every season; His praise is in my mouth continually." ² In Yahweh my soul boasts; The humbled ones hear and rejoice. ³ Magnify Yahweh with me, And let us exalt His Name together." ⁴ I have sought after Yahweh, and He has answered me, And from all my shrinking fear He has rescued me." ⁵ Look to Him and beam, And do not let your faces be abashed." ⁶ This humbled one called, and Yahweh heard, And from all his distresses, He saved him." ⁷ The messenger of Yahweh is encamping around those fearing Him, And He shall liberate them." ⁸ Taste and see that Yahweh is good; Happy is the master who takes refuge in Him. ⁹ Fear Yahweh, all His saints, For there is no lack to those fearing Him." ¹⁰ The sheltered lions, they are destitute, and they famish, But those seeking after Yahweh shall not lack any good." ¹¹ Come my sons; hearken to me! I shall teach you the devout fear of Yahweh. ¹² Who is the man whose delight is life, Loving sufficient days in order to see good? ¹³ Preserve your tongue from evil And your lips from speaking deceit. ¹⁴ Withdraw from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it." ¹⁵ The eyes of Yahweh are toward the righteous, And His ears are toward their imploring." ¹⁶ The face of Yahweh is against those doing evil, To cut off their remembrance from the earth." ¹⁷ The righteous cry out, and Yahweh hears, And He rescues them from all their distresses." ¹⁸ Yahweh is near to the broken of heart, And He shall save those crushed of spirit." ¹⁹ Many are the evils on the righteous one, But Yahweh shall rescue him from them all, ²⁰ He Who is guarding all his bones So that not one of them is broken. ²¹ Evil shall put the wicked to death, And those hating the righteous one shall be found guilty." ²² Yahweh is ransoming the soul of His servants, And all those taking refuge in Him shall not be found guilty."

²¹ And the king Jehoiakim, and all his mighty ones, and all the heads, hear his words, and the king seeks to put him to death, and Urijah hears, and fears, and flees, and goes in to Egypt."

¹ And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Till when are you mourning for Saul, and I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill your horn with oil, and go, I send you unto Jesse the Beth-Lehemite, for I have seen among his sons for Myself a king.

⁷ and the women answer--those playing, and say, `Saul has smitten among his thousands, And David among his myriads.. <sup>8</sup> And it is displeasing to Saul exceedingly, and this thing is evil in his eyes, and he said, `They have given to David myriads, and to me they have given the thousands, and more to him [is] only the kingdom;.

⁵ Is not this David, of whom they answer in choruses, saying, Saul has smitten among his thousands, and David among his myriads?.

¹ {A Davidic Inscribed Psalm{ {When the Philistines held him in Gath{ Be gracious to me, O Elohim, for a mortal gasps after me; All day long this fighting man is oppressing me." ² They gasp, those who lie in wait for me the entire day, For many are fighting against me haughtily." ³ The day when I am fearing I am trusting in You. ⁴ In Elohim, I am praising His word; In Elohim I trust; I shall not fear; What can flesh do to me? ⁵ All day long they are wresting my words; All their devisings are against me for evil. ⁶ They are stirring up plots; they are lurking; They are keeping track of my heel prints, As though they expected to take my soul." ⁷ Mete out to them according to their lawlessness; In anger bring down the peoples, O Elohim." ⁸ You Yourself keep number of my wanderings; Do place my tears in Your skin bottle; Are they not recorded in Your scroll? ⁹ Then my enemies shall turn away in the day I call out; This I know:that Elohim is for me. ¹⁰ In Elohim I shall praise the word; In Yahweh I shall praise the word; ¹¹ In Elohim I trust; I shall not fear; What can a human do to me? ¹² O Elohim, I am under vows to You; I shall pay acclamation offerings to You." ¹³ For You have rescued my soul from death, And not also my feet from foundering? ¹¹ And coming is it, as Abram nears to come to Egypt, that saying is Abram to Sarai, his wife, "Behold, pray! I know that a woman of lovely appearance are you, ¹² and when it comes that the Egyptians see you and say, `His wife is this,' then they will kill me, yet you they will keep alive. ¹³ Say, pray, that my sister are you, that it may be well with me for your sake, and live may my soul due to you.

⁷ And asking are the mortals of the place as to Rebecca, his wife. And saying is he, "My sister is she.For he fears to say, "My wife is she,lest the mortals of the place kill him on account of Rebecca, for a good appearance has she.

¹⁰ And David rises and flees on that day from the face of Saul, and comes in unto Achish king of Gath;"

⁴ I have sought after Yahweh, and He has answered me, And from all my shrinking fear He has rescued me."

³ The day when I am fearing I am trusting in You.

¹¹ In my heart have I stored up Your promise, That I may not sin against You."

¹⁹ Now Miriam preserved all these declarations, parleying them in her heart."

⁵¹ And He descended with them and came into Nazareth, and was subject to them. And His mother carefully kept all these declarations, parleying them in her own heart."

²⁵ A man's over-anxiety becomes a trap for him, Yet he who trusts in Yahweh shall be made impregnable."

⁷ Extortion makes a wise man raving, And a bribe destroys the heart."
