²⁸ And Absalom commands his young men, saying, `See, I pray you, when the heart of Amnon [is] glad with wine, and I have said unto you, Smite Amnon, that you have put him to death; fear not; is it not because I have commanded you? be strong, yea, become sons of valor..

²¹ And drinking is he of the wine and is drunk, and is exposing himself in the midst of his tent.

³² Go! Give will we our father wine to drink, and lie with him and keep alive seed from our father. ³³ And giving are they their father wine to drink in that night. And coming is the firstborn, and lying with her father in that night, and he knows not her lying nor her rising. ³⁴ And coming is it on the morrow that the firstborn is saying to the inferior in station, "Behold! I lay yesternight with our father. We will give him wine to drink tonight, moreover. And you come, lie with him, and we will keep alive seed from our father. ³⁵ And, moreover, they are giving their father wine to drink in that night, and rising is the inferior in station, and is lying with her father. And he knows not her lying nor her rising.

¹⁶ and said: In your midwifery for the Hebrew women, when you see them on the bracing stones, if it is a son then you will put him to death, and if it is a daughter then she will live. ¹⁷ Yet the midwives feared the One, Elohim, and they did not act just as the king of Egypt had spoken to them; and they kept the boys alive.

¹⁶ They came to Balaam and said to him:Thus says Balak son of Zippor, Do not, I pray, be withheld from coming to me, ¹⁷ for I shall glorify, yea glorify you exceedingly, and all that you may say to me I shall do. So come now I pray, revile this people for me.

⁹ `Have not I commanded you? be strong and courageous; be not terrified nor affrighted, for with you [is] Yahweh your Elohim in every [place] whither you go..

⁶ And they sit and eat both of them together, and drink, and the father of the young woman said unto the man, `Be willing, I pray you, and lodge all night, and let your heart be glad..

⁹ And the man rises to go, he and his concubine, and his young man, and his father-in-law, father of the young woman, said to him, `Lo, I pray you, the day has fallen toward evening, lodge all night, I pray you; lo, the declining of the day! lodge here, and let your heart be glad--and you have risen early to-morrow for your journey, and you have gone to your tent..

²² They are making their heart glad, and lo, men of the city, men--sons of worthlessness--have gone round about the house, beating on the door, and they speak unto the old man, the master of the house, saying, `Bring out the man who has come unto your house, and we know him..

⁷ Boaz ate and drank, and his heart felt good when he came to lie down at the end of the grain-pile. Later she went there with stealth, exposed his feet and lay down.

¹³ and David calls for him, and he eats before him, and drinks, and he causes him to drink, and he goes out in the evening to lie on his couch with the servants of his lord, and unto his house he has not gone down.

¹⁵ and he writes in the letter, saying, `Place you Uriah over-against the front of the severest battle, and you have turned back from after him, and he has been smitten, and has died..

¹⁵ And wine that makes the heart of a mortal rejoice, To make the face lustrous with oil, And bread that braces the heart of mortal man."

⁷ Go, eat your bread with rejoicing, and drink your wine with good heart, For already the One, Elohim, has approved of your works."

¹⁹ The making of bread is for mirth, And wine gives rejoicing to life, While silver answers for everything."

² When tasting the turbid wine, Belshazzar says to bring hither the gold and silver vessels of the house of Eloah which his grandfather Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, that they may drink from them--the king and his grandees, his consorts and his concubines." ³ Then they bring hither the gold and silver vessels which they had taken from the temple, the house of the Eloah in Jerusalem. And they drink from them--the king and his grandees, his consorts and his concubines." ⁴ They drink the turbid wine and laud the elohim of gold, silver, copper, iron, wood, and stone." ⁵ In the same hour came forth fingers of a mortal's hand writing, in the light received from the lampstand, on the stuccoed sidewall of the king's palace. And the king is perceiving the fingertip of the hand that is writing." ⁶ Then the king's mien alters and his ruminations are flustering him; the ligaments of his loins loosen up, and his knees are knocking one against the other."

³⁰ In the same night Belshazzar is despatched, the king of the Chaldeans. Thus the interpretation comes on Belshazzar the king:The kingdom is taken away from the Chaldeans and given to the Medes and Persians."

¹⁰ Though they are still as entangled briars, and as those groggy with their grog, they shall be devoured as straw fully dry."

³⁴ Now take heed to yourselves, lest at some time your hearts should be burdened with crapulence and drunkenness and the worries of life's affairs, and that day may be standing by you unawares,

²⁹ Yet answering, Peter and the apostles say, "One must yield to God rather than to men."
