⁴⁶ who found favor before God. And he requests that he may find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

²⁸ And Samuel said unto him, `Yahweh has rent the kingdom of Israel from you to-day, and given it to your neighbor who is better than you;"

¹ And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Till when are you mourning for Saul, and I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill your horn with oil, and go, I send you unto Jesse the Beth-Lehemite, for I have seen among his sons for Myself a king.

¹¹ And Samuel said unto Jesse, `Are the youngest men finished?' and he said, `Yet has been left the young; and lo, he delights himself among the flock;' and Samuel said unto Jesse, `Send and take him, for we do not turn round till his coming in hither.. <sup>12</sup> And he sends, and brings him in, and he [is] ruddy, with beauty of eyes, and of good appearance; and Yahweh said, `Rise, anoint him, for this [is] he.. ¹³ And Samuel takes the horn of oil, and anoints him in the midst of his brethren, and prosper over David does the Spirit of Yahweh from that day and onwards; and Samuel rises and goes to Ramath.

²¹ And David said unto Michal, `--Before Yahweh, who fixed on me above your father, and above all his house, to appoint me leader over the people of Yahweh, and over Israel, --yea, I played before Yahweh;"

¹ And it comes to pass, when the king sat in his house, and Yahweh has given rest to him round about, from all his enemies, ² that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, `See, I pray you, I am dwelling in a house of cedars, and the ark of Elohim is dwelling in the midst of the curtain.. <sup>3</sup> And Nathan said unto the king, `All that [is] in your heart--go, do, for Yahweh [is] with you.. ⁴ And it comes to pass in that night, that the word of Yahweh is unto Nathan, saying, ⁵ `Go, and you have said unto My servant, unto David, Thus said Yahweh, Do you build for Me a house for My dwelling in?

⁸ and now, thus do you say to My servant, to David:`Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, I have taken you from the comely place, from after the flock, to be leader over My people, over Israel;" <sup>9</sup> and I am with you whithersoever you have gone, and I cut off all your enemies from your presence, and have made for you a great name, as the name of the great ones who [are] in the earth, <sup>10</sup> and I have appointed a place for My people, for Israel, and have planted it, and it has tabernacled in its place, and it is not troubled any more, and the sons of perverseness do not add to afflict it any more, as in the beginning, <sup>11</sup> even from the day that I appointed judges over My people Israel; and I have given rest to you from all your enemies, and Yahweh has declared to you that Yahweh does make for you a house. <sup>12</sup> `When your days are full, and you have lain with your fathers, then I have raised up your seed after you which goes out from your bowels, and have established his kingdom;" ¹³ He does build a house for My Name, and I have established the throne of his kingdom unto the eon. ¹⁴ I am to him for a father, and he is to Me for a son; whom in his dealings perversely I have even reproved with a rod of men, and with strokes of the sons of Adam, ¹⁵ and My kindness does not turn aside from him, as I turned it aside from Saul, whom I turned aside from before you, ¹⁶ and stedfast [is] your house and your kingdom unto the eon before you, your throne is established unto the eon..

¹⁸ And king David comes in and sits before Yahweh, and said, `Who [am] I, Lord Yahweh? and what my house, that You have brought me hitherto? ¹⁹ And yet this [is] little in Your eyes, Lord Yahweh, and You do speak also concerning the house of Your servant afar off; and this [is] the law of the Man, Lord Yahweh.

¹⁷ `And it is with the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, ¹⁸ and Yahweh said unto David my father, Because that it has been with your heart to build a house for My name, you have done well that it has been with your heart;" ¹⁹ only, you do not build the house, but your son who is coming out from your loins, he does build the house for My name.

¹ And it comes to pass as David sat in his house, that David said unto Nathan the prophet, `Lo, I am dwelling in a house of cedars, and the ark of the covenant of Yahweh [is] under curtains;. <sup>2</sup> and Nathan said unto David, `All that [is] in your heart do, for Elohim [is] with you.. ³ And it comes to pass on that night that a word of Elohim is unto Nathan, saying, ⁴ `Go, and you have said unto David My servant, Thus said Yahweh, You do not build for Me the house to dwell in.

⁷ and David said to Solomon his son, `As for me, it has been with my heart to build a house to the name of Yahweh my Elohim, ⁸ and the word of Yahweh [is] against me, saying, Blood in abundance you have shed, and great wars you have made:you do not build a house to My name, for much blood you have shed to the earth before Me.

² And David the king rises on his feet, and said, `Hear me, my brethren and my people, I--with my heart--to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and for the footstool of our Elohim, and I prepared to build, <sup>3</sup> and Elohim has said to me, You do not build a house to My name, for a man of wars you [are], and blood you have shed. <sup>4</sup> `And Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, does fix on me out of all the house of my father to be for king over Israel to the eon, for on Judah He has fixed for a leader, and in the house of Judah, the house of my father, and among the sons of my father, on me, [me] He has been pleased to make king over all Israel;" ⁵ and out of all my sons--for many sons has Yahweh given to me--He also fixes on Solomon my son, to sit on the throne of the kingdom of Yahweh over Israel,

² and with all my power I have prepared for the house of my Elohim, the gold for [things of] gold, and the silver for [those of] silver, and the brass for [those of] brass, the iron for [those of] iron, and the wood for [those of] wood, shoham stones, and settings, and stones of painting and of diverse colors, and all [kinds of] precious stone, and stones of white marble, in abundance. ³ `And again, because of my delighting in the house of my Elohim, the substance I have--a peculiar treasure of gold and silver--I have given for the house of my Elohim, even over and above all I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary.

⁶⁸ Yet He chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loves;" ⁶⁹ And He built His Sanctuary like the heights of heaven, Like the earth that He founded for the eon." ⁷⁰ He chose David, His servant, And He took him from the folds of the flock;" ⁷¹ From following the ewes, He brought him To shepherd Jacob, His people, And Israel, His allotment." ⁷² So he shepherded them in the integrity of his heart, And by the understanding of his palms, he guided them."

¹⁹ Then You spoke in a vision to Your benign ones, And You said:I have poised help on a master; I have exalted one chosen from the people." ²⁰ I have found David My servant; With My holy oil have I anointed him, ²¹ With whom My hand shall stand readied; Indeed My arm shall make him resolute. ²² The enemy shall not astrict him, And the son of iniquity shall not humiliate him." ²³ I will pound down his foes before him, And I shall strike against those hating him." ²⁴ Yet My faithfulness and My benignity will be with him, And in My Name shall his horn be exalted." ²⁵ I will place his hand over the sea, And his right hand over the streams." ²⁶ He shall call out to Me, You are my Father, My El and the Rock of my salvation." ²⁷ Indeed, I shall make him the firstborn, The uppermost of the kings of the earth." ²⁸ For the eon shall I keep My benignity upon him, And My covenant with him is faithful." ²⁹ I will establish his seed for the future, And his throne as the days of the heavens." ³⁰ If his sons should forsake My law, And they should not walk in My ordinances, ³¹ If they should profane My statutes And should not keep My instructions, ³² Then I will visit their transgression with a club, And their depravity with contagions." ³³ Yet I shall not withdraw My benignity from him, And I shall not be false in My faithfulness." ³⁴ I shall not profane My covenant, And I shall not alter the utterance of My lips." ³⁵ Once for all have I sworn by My holiness; I shall assuredly not lie to David: ³⁶ His seed shall continue for the eon, And his throne as the sun in front of Me, ³⁷ Like the moon, it shall be established for the eon, Faithful like that witness in the sky. {Interlude{ "

¹ {A Song of Ascents{ Remember, O Yahweh, concerning David, All his humiliation, ² How he swore to Yahweh And vowed to the Sturdy One of Jacob: ³ I shall assuredly not come into my tent house, Assuredly not go up to the cot of my berth, ⁴ Assuredly not give sleep to my eyes, Or slumber to my eyelids, ⁵ Until I should find a place for Yahweh, A Grand Tabernacle for the Sturdy One of Jacob."

¹¹ Yahweh has sworn to David the truth; He shall not turn back from it:Out of the fruit of your loin Shall I set One on your throne.

²² And, deposing him, He rouses David for their king, to whom He said also, in testifying, 'I found David, of Jesse, a man according to My heart, who will be doing all My will.'"
