¹ When Yahweh your Elohim brings you into the land where you are about to enter in order to tenant it, and He eases many nations out before your face, the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, seven nations more numerous and substantial than you, ² when Yahweh your Elohim gives them up before you, and you smite them, then you shall doom, yea doom them. You shall neither contract a covenant with them nor be gracious to them, ³ nor shall you intermarry with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, and you shall not take his daughter for your son. ⁴ For it might take away your son from following after Me, and they might serve other elohim, and the anger of Yahweh would grow hot against you, and He would exterminate you quickly. ⁵ But rather, thus shall you do to them:you shall tear down their altars, break their monuments, hack down their Asherah poles, and you shall burn their carvings with fire. ⁶ For you are a people holy to Yahweh your Elohim; Yahweh your Elohim has chosen you to become His, a special people from all the peoples who are on the surface of the ground. ⁷ It was not because your multitude was more than all the other peoples that Yahweh was attached to you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all the peoples. ⁸ But it was because of the love of Yahweh for you and because of His keeping the oath that He had sworn to your fathers that Yahweh brought you forth with a steadfast hand and ransomed you from the house of servants, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. ⁹ Then know that Yahweh your Elohim, He is the One Elohim, the El, Who is faithful, keeping the covenant and the kindness to those loving Him and to those observing His instructions for a thousand generations, ¹⁰ yet repaying the one hating Him right to His face, so as to destroy him. He shall not delay toward one hating Him right to His face; He shall repay him. ¹¹ Hence observe the instruction and the statutes and the judgments which I am enjoining on you today, to keep them. ¹² It will come to be, insomuch as you shall hearken to these judgments, and you observe and do them, that Yahweh your Elohim will keep with you the covenant and the kindness about which He had sworn to your fathers;" ¹³ He will love you and bless you; He will multiply you and bless the fruit of your belly and the fruit of your ground, your grain, your grape juice, and your clarified oil, the calving of your domestic animals and the lambing of your flock, on the ground about which Yahweh had sworn to your fathers to give to you. ¹⁴ Blessed shall you come to be above all the peoples. There shall come to be no sterile man or barren woman among you, nor among your beasts. ¹⁵ Yahweh will take away from you every illness; and all the bad diseases of Egypt about which you know, He shall not place them among you, but He will give them to all those hating you. ¹⁶ Now you will devour all the peoples whom Yahweh your Elohim is delivering to you. Your eye shall not commiserate over them, and you shall not serve their elohim, for that is a trap to you. ¹⁷ Though you may say in your heart:These nations are more numerous than I; how shall I be able to evict them? ¹⁸ You shall not fear them. You shall remember, yea remember what Yahweh your Elohim did to Pharaoh and to all of Egypt, ¹⁹ the great probings which your eyes have seen, the signs and the miracles, the steadfast hand and the outstretched arm with which Yahweh your Elohim brought you forth. So shall Yahweh your Elohim do to all the peoples of whom you are fearful because of their presence. ²⁰ Moreover, Yahweh your Elohim shall send the hornet among them, until those remaining and those concealed perish before your face. ²¹ You shall not be terrified because of their presence, since Yahweh your Elohim is among you, an El great and fear-inspiring. ²² Yahweh your Elohim will ease these nations out before your face, little by little. You shall not be able to finish them quickly, lest the land become a wilderness and the animal of the field multiply against you. ²³ Yet Yahweh your Elohim will give them up before you and discomfit them with a great discomfiture until they are exterminated. ²⁴ He will give their kings into your hand, and you will destroy their name from under the heavens. No man shall station himself in your presence until you exterminate them. ²⁵ You shall burn the carvings of their elohim with fire. You shall not covet the silver and gold on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be trapped by it, for it is an abhorrence to Yahweh your Elohim. ²⁶ You shall not bring an abhorrence into your house, or you will become doomed just like it is. You shall reject it as abominable, yea abominable; you shall reject it as abhorrent, yea abhorrent, for it is doomed.

¹⁸ In that day Yahweh contracted a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your seed I give this land, from the stream of Egypt as far as the great stream, the stream Euphrates, ¹⁹ the Cainite and the Kenizite and the Kadmonite ²⁰ and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Rephaim ²¹ and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hivite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite.

⁸ I will bring you to the land which I lifted up My hand in swearing to give it to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a tenancy. I am Yahweh.

⁷ And by the vastness of Your pomp You were demolishing those rising against You; You were sending forth Your heat; it was devouring them as straw.

²⁸ I will send the hornet before you, and it will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite and the Hittite from before you.

² And I will send before you My messenger. I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite.

³¹ As for your little ones of whom you have said:They shall be taken as plunder, I will also bring them in, and they will know the land which you have rejected.

¹ Now, Israel, hearken to the statutes and to the judgments that I am teaching you today, to obey them, that you may live and may enter and tenant the land that Yahweh Elohim of your fathers is giving to you. ² You shall neither add to the word that I am enjoining on you, nor shall you subtract from it, but observe the instructions of Yahweh your Elohim that I am enjoining on you. ³ Your eyes were the ones seeing all that Yahweh did with regard to Baal-peor, for every man who went after Baal-peor, Yahweh your Elohim exterminated from among you.

³⁸ to evict greater and more substantial nations than you from your presence, to bring you in and give to you their country as an allotment, as it is this day,

¹ Now this is the instruction, the statutes and the judgments that Yahweh your Elohim had enjoined on me to teach you, to keep in the land where you are crossing over to tenant it,

¹⁰ When it comes to be that Yahweh your Elohim brings you into the land about which He had sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, to give to you great and good cities which you did not build,

¹⁹ to thrust out all your enemies from your presence, just as Yahweh had promised.

²³ Then He brought us forth from there, that He might bring us in and give to us the land about which Yahweh had sworn to our fathers.

¹ Hear, Israel! Today you are ready to cross over the Jordan, to enter to tenant in the place of nations greater and more substantial than you, cities great and defended to the heavens,

⁴ Do not say in your heart when Yahweh your Elohim thrusts them out from before you, saying:Because of my own righteousness Yahweh brings me in to tenant this land. Rather it is because of the wickedness of these nations that Yahweh is evicting them before your face.

²⁹ When it comes to be that Yahweh your Elohim shall bring you into the land where you are entering to tenant it, then you must pronounce the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the malediction on Mount Ebal.

¹ When you go forth for battle against your enemies, and you see horses and chariots and a people more numerous than you, you should not fear them, for Yahweh your Elohim is with you, the One bringing you up from the country of Egypt.

³ Yahweh your Elohim, He is crossing over before you; He Himself shall exterminate these nations from before you, and you will tenant in their place. Joshua, he is crossing over before you just as Yahweh has spoken,

²⁰ When I shall bring them to the ground gushing with milk and honey about which I had sworn to their fathers, when they eat and are satisfied and are sleek so that they turn around to other elohim and serve them, when they thus spurn Me and annul My covenant,

² You, by Your hand, You evicted the nations, And You planted them there. You brought evil to the national groups, And You sent them in." ³ For neither by their sword did they tenant the land, Nor did their arm bring salvation for them. But it was Your right hand and Your arm of power and the light of Your countenance, For You held them dear."

⁵⁵ He drove out the nations before them, And He allocated to them their allotment by the line. He enabled Israel's tribes to tabernacle in their tents."

¹⁹ And, pulling down seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributes their land by lot"

²⁰ And blessed is the El Supreme, Who awards your foes into your hands.And giving is he to him tithes from all.

²⁰ Anyone sacrificing to any elohim is doomed, unless it be to Yahweh, to Him alone.

³² You shall not contract a covenant with them or with their elohim. ³³ They shall not dwell in your land lest they should make you sin against Me so that you serve their elohim, and that it should come to be a trap for you.

¹² Guard yourself lest you contract a covenant with the dwellers of the land, to which you are entering, lest it become a trap among you. ¹³ For their altars shall you break down, and their monuments shall you break, and their Asherah poles shall you cut down. ¹⁴ For you shall not bow yourself down to another el (for Yahweh, Jealous is His name; He is a jealous El. ¹⁵ lest you contract a covenant with the dweller of the land when they prostitute after their elohim and sacrifice to their elohim lest one call to you that you eat of his sacrifice. ¹⁶ If you would take of his daughters for your sons and give your daughters to their sons, then his daughters would prostitute after their elohim and cause your sons to prostitute after their elohim.

²⁸ Every devoted thing which a man may devote to Yahweh, of all which is his of human and beast and of the field of his holding, it shall not be sold nor redeemed. Every devoted thing, it will be holy of holies to Yahweh. ²⁹ Every doomed one which is doomed of humanity shall not be ransomed; he shall be put to death, yea death.

⁵² then you will evict all the dwellers of the land from before you and destroy all their pictures; and all their molten images shall you destroy, and all their fane heights shall you exterminate.

³ So Yahweh our Elohim also gave into our hand Og king of Bashan and all his people, and we smote him until no survivor at all was left remaining to him.

²³ Yet Yahweh your Elohim will give them up before you and discomfit them with a great discomfiture until they are exterminated. ²⁴ He will give their kings into your hand, and you will destroy their name from under the heavens. No man shall station himself in your presence until you exterminate them.

⁸ neither shall you comply with him, nor shall you hearken to him; neither shall your eye commiserate over him, nor shall you spare him; and you shall not cover up for him.

¹⁰ When you come near to a city to fight against it then you should call to it for peace. ¹¹ And it will come to be if it should answer you with peace, and it opens up to you, then it will come to be that all the people who are being found in it shall become tributary to you, and they will serve you.

¹⁶ But in the cities of these peoples which Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you as an allotment you shall not keep alive anything that has breath, ¹⁷ for you shall doom, yea doom them, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Girgashite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, just as Yahweh your Elohim had instructed you,

¹⁴ For Yahweh your Elohim is walking about within your camp to rescue you and to deliver up your enemies before you; hence your camps will come to be holy so that He should not see among you the nakedness of anything and turn away from following you.

¹⁴ And the men say to her, `Our soul for yours--to die; if you declare not this our matter, then it has been, in Yahweh's giving to us this land, that we have done with you kindness and truth..

¹⁷ and the city has been devoted, it and all that [is] in it, to Yahweh; only Rahab the harlot does live, she and all who [are] with her in the house, for she hid the messengers whom we sent;" ¹⁸ and surely you have kept from the devoted thing, lest you devote [yourselves], and have taken from the devoted thing, and have made the camp of Israel become a devoted thing, and have troubled it;" ¹⁹ and all the silver and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, holy they [are] to Yahweh; into the treasury of Yahweh they come.. ²⁰ And the people shout, and blow with the trumpets, and it comes to pass when the people hear the voice of the trumpet, that the people shout--a great shout, and the wall falls under it, and the people goes up into the city, each over-against him, and they capture the city;" ²¹ and they devote all that [is] in the city, from man even unto woman, from young even unto aged, even unto ox, and sheep, and ass, by the mouth of the sword. ²² And to the two men who are spying the land Joshua said, `Go into the house of the woman, the harlot, and bring out thence the woman, and all whom she has, as you have sworn to her.. ²³ And the young man, the spies, go in and bring out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all whom she has; yea, all her families they have brought out, and place them at the outside of the camp of Israel. ²⁴ And the city they have burnt with fire, and all that [is] in it; only, the silver and the gold, and the vessels of brass, and of iron, they have given [to] the treasury of the house of Yahweh;" ²⁵ and Rahab the harlot, and the house of her father, and all whom she has, has Joshua kept alive; and she dwells in the midst of Israel unto this day, for she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

²⁴ And it comes to pass, at Israel's finishing to slay all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness in which they pursued them (and they fall all of them by the mouth of the sword till their consumption), that all Israel turn back to Ai, and smite it by the mouth of the sword;"

¹⁸ and the sons of Israel have not smitten them, for sworn to them have the princes of the company by Yahweh Elohim of Israel, and all the company murmur against the princes. ¹⁹ And all the princes say unto all the company, `We--we have sworn to them by Yahweh, Elohim of Israel; and now, we are not able to come against them;" <sup>20</sup> this we do to them, and have kept them alive, and wrath is not upon us, because of the oath which we have sworn to them.. <sup>21</sup> And the princes say unto them, `They live, and are hewers of wood and drawers of water for all the company, as the princes spoke to them..

²⁴ And they answer Joshua and say, `Because it was certainly declared to your servants, that Yahweh your Elohim commanded Moses His servant to give to you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; and we fear greatly for ourselves because of you, and we do this thing;"

²⁴ And it comes to pass, when they bring out these kings unto Joshua, that Joshua calls unto every man of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war, who have gone with him, `Draw near, set your feet on the necks of these kings;' and they draw near, and set their feet on their necks. <sup>25</sup> And Joshua said unto them, `Fear not, nor be affrighted; be strong and courageous; for thus does Yahweh do to all your enemies with whom you are fighting;.

²⁸ And Makkedah has Joshua captured on that day, and he smites it by the mouth of the sword, and its king he has devoted, them and every person who [is] in it--he has not left a remnant; and he does to the king of Makkedah as he did to the king of Jericho.

³⁰ and Yahweh gives also it into the hand of Israel, and its king, and it smites it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it--it left not in it a remnant; and it does to its king as it did to the king of Jericho.

³² And Yahweh gives Lachish into the hand of Israel, and it captures it on the second day, and smites it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it, according to all that it did to Libnah.

⁴⁰ And Joshua smites all the land of the hill-country, and of the south, and of the low-country, and of the springs, and all their kings--he has not left a remnant, and all that does breathe he has devoted, as Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, commanded.

⁴² and all these kings and their land has Joshua captured [at] one time, for Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, is fighting for Israel.

¹¹ and they smite every person who [is] in it by the mouth of the sword; he has devoted--he has not left any one breathing, and Hazor he has burnt with fire;" ¹² and all the cities of these kings, and all their kings, has Joshua captured, and he smites them by the mouth of the sword; he devoted them, as Moses, servant of Yahweh, commanded.

⁴⁴ and Yahweh gives rest to them round about, according to all that which He has sworn to their fathers, and there has not stood a man in their presence of all their enemies, the whole of their enemies has Yahweh given into their hand;"

⁴ And Judah goes up, and Yahweh gives the Canaanite and the Perizzite into their hand, and they smite them in Bezek--ten thousand men;"

²⁴ and the watchers see a man coming out from the city, and say to him, `Show us, we pray you, the entrance of the city, and we have done with you kindness..

² and said, `I cause you to come up out of Egypt, and bring you in unto the land which I have sworn to your fathers, and say, I do not break My covenant with you to the eon; and you--you make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land--their altars you break down; and you have not hearkened to My voice--what [is] this you have done?

² And the king calls for the Gibeonites, and said unto them--as to the Gibeonites, they [are] not of the sons of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorite, and the sons of Israel had sworn to them, and Saul seeks to smite them in his zeal for the sons of Israel and Judah-.

² And seeing are sons of the elohim the daughters of the human, that they are good, and taking are they for themselves wives of all whom they choose. ³ And saying is Yahweh Elohim, "Not abide shall My spirit in the human for the eon, in that moreover, he is flesh. And come shall his days to be a hundred and twenty years.

¹² `But--if you at all turn back and have cleaved to the remnant of these nations, these who are left with you, and intermarried with them, and gone in to them, and they to you, ¹³ know certainly that Yahweh your Elohim is not continuing to dispossess these nations from before you, and they have been to you for a gin, and for a snare, and for a scourge, in your sides, and for thorns in your eyes, till you perish from off this good ground which Yahweh your Elohim has given to you.

⁶ and take their daughters to them for wives, and their daughters have given to their sons, and they serve their elohims;" ⁷ and the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, and forget Yahweh their Elohim, and serve the Baalim and the shrines.

² of the nations of which Yahweh said unto the sons of Israel, `You do not go in to them, and they do not go in to you; surely they turn aside your heart after their elohims;' to them has Solomon cleaved for love.

¹ After the conclusion of these events, the chiefs came close to me, saying:The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not kept themselves separate from the peoples of the countries despite their abhorrent acts, those of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, the Ammonite, the Moabite, the Egyptian and the Amorite. ² For they have taken up some of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed has become mixed with the peoples of these countries. And the hand of the chiefs and the prefects has been first in this offense.

²³ Also, in those days, I have seen the Jews [who] have settled women of Ashdod, of Ammon, of Moab. ²⁴ And of their sons, half are speaking Ashdoditish--and are not knowing to speak Jewish--and according to the language of people and people. ²⁵ And I strive with them, and declare them vile, and smite certain of them, and pluck off their hair, and cause them to swear by Elohim, `You do not give your daughters to their sons, nor do you take of their daughters to your sons, and to yourselves. <sup>26</sup> `By these did not Solomon king of Israel sin? and among the many nations there was no king like him, and beloved by his Elohim he was, and Elohim makes him king over all Israel--even him did the strange women cause to sin. ²⁷ And to you do we hearken to do all this great evil, to trespass against our Elohim, to settle strange women?.

¹⁴ Do not become diversely yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness? Or what communion has light with darkness? ¹⁵ Now what agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what part a believer with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ Now what concurrence has a temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, according as God said, that I will be making My home and will be walking in them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." ¹⁷ Wherefore, Come out of their midst and be severed, the Lord is saying. And touch not the unclean, and I will admit you,

⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor be made to serve them, for I, Yahweh your Elohim, am a jealous El, visiting the depravity of the fathers on the sons, on the third and on the fourth generation, to those hating Me,

²⁶ I testify against you today by the heavens and the earth, that you shall perish, yea perish quickly off the land where you are crossing over the Jordan to tenant it. You shall not prolong your days on it, for you shall be exterminated, yea exterminated.

¹⁵ (for a jealous El is Yahweh your Elohim among you); otherwise the anger of Yahweh your Elohim shall grow hot against you, and He will exterminate you off the surface of the ground.

¹⁶ They made Him jealous with alien gods, with abhorrences they provoked Him to vexation. ¹⁷ They sacrificed to demons, not Eloah, to elohim--they had not known them before--to new ones that came from nearby; your fathers were not horrified by them.

¹¹ And the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, and serve the Baalim,

²⁰ And the anger of Yahweh does burn against Israel, and He said, `Because that this nation have transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened to My voice-.

⁷ and the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, and forget Yahweh their Elohim, and serve the Baalim and the shrines. ⁸ And the anger of Yahweh burns against Israel, and He sells them into the hand of Chushan-Rishathaim king of Aram-Naharaim, and the sons of Israel serve Chushan-Rishathaim eight years;"

⁶ And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the elohims of Aram, and the elohims of Zidon, and the elohims of Moab, and the elohims of the Bene-Ammon, and the elohims of the Philistines, and forsake Yahweh, and have not served Him;" ⁷ and the anger of Yahweh burns against Israel, and He sells them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,

²⁴ You shall not bow yourself down to their elohim nor be made to serve them, nor shall you do according to their deeds, for you shall demolish, yea demolish them and break down, yea break down their monuments.

²⁰ Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it with fire and ground it until it was pulverized; he winnowed it upon the surface of the water and made the sons of Israel drink it.

¹³ For their altars shall you break down, and their monuments shall you break, and their Asherah poles shall you cut down.

¹ You shall not make forbidden idols for yourselves, nor set up carvings and monuments for yourselves, nor put a stone picture in your land to bow yourself down before it, for I, Yahweh, am your Elohim.

²⁵ You shall burn the carvings of their elohim with fire. You shall not covet the silver and gold on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be trapped by it, for it is an abhorrence to Yahweh your Elohim.

²¹ As for your sin, which was the calf you had made, I took it, burned it with fire and pounded it, grinding it well until it was pulverized to soil, and I flung its soil into the watercourse that was descending from the mountain.

² You shall destroy, yea destroy all the places where the nations (in whose stead you are tenanting) have served their elohim on the high mountains, on the hills and under every flourishing tree. ³ Tear down their altars and break their monuments; their Asherah poles you shall burn with fire, and the carvings of their elohim you shall hack down; thus you will destroy their name from that place.

²² nor shall you set up for yourself a monument that Yahweh your Elohim hates.

²⁵ And it comes to pass, on that night, that Yahweh said to him, `Take the young ox which [is] to your father, and the second bullock of seven years, and you have thrown down the altar of Baal which [is] to your father, and the shrine which [is] by it you do cut down, ²⁶ and you have built an altar to Yahweh your Elohim on the top of this stronghold, by the arrangement, and have taken the second bullock, and caused to ascend a burnt-offering with the wood of the shrine which you cut down..

⁶ And he brings out the shrine from the house of Yahweh to the outside of Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burns it at the brook Kidron, and beats it small to dust, and casts its dust on the grave of the sons of the people. ⁷ And he breaks down the houses of the whoremongers that [are] in the house of Yahweh, where the women are weaving houses for the shrine. ⁸ And he brings in all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiles the high places where the priests have made perfume, from Geba unto Beer-Sheba, and has broken down the high places of the gates that [are] at the opening of the gate of Joshua, head of the city, that [is] on a man's left hand at the gate of the city;" ⁹ only, the priests of the high places come not up unto the altar of Yahweh in Jerusalem, but they have eaten unleavened things in the midst of their brethren. ¹⁰ And he has defiled Topheth, that [is] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, so that no man does cause his son and his daughter to pass over through fire to Molech. ¹¹ And he causes to cease the horses that the kings of Judah have given to the sun from the entering in of the house of Yahweh, by the chamber of Nathan-Melech the eunuch, that [is] in the suburbs, and the chariots of the sun he has burnt with fire. ¹² And the altars that [are] on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, that the kings of Judah made, and the altars that Manasseh made in the two courts of the house of Yahweh, has the king broken down, and removes thence, and has cast their dust unto the brook Kidron. ¹³ And the high places that [are] on the front of Jerusalem, that [are] on the right of the mount of corruption, that Solomon king of Israel had built to Ashtoreth abomination of the Zidonians, and Chemosh abomination of Moab, and to Milcom abomination of the sons of Ammon, has the king defiled. ¹⁴ And he has broken in pieces the standing-pillars, and cuts down the shrines, and fills their place with bones of men;"

⁵ Now, if you shall hearken, yea hearken to My voice and observe My covenant then you will become Mine, a special possession, above all the peoples, for Mine is all the earth. ⁶ As for you, you shall become Mine, a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the sons of Israel.

² for you are a people holy to Yahweh your Elohim, and Yahweh your Elohim chose you to belong to Him as a special people above all the peoples who are on the surface of the ground.

¹⁹ then He promises to give you supremacy over all the nations which He has made, for praise, for a name and for beauty, and for you to be a people holy to Yahweh your Elohim just as He has promised.

⁹ Yahweh shall raise you as a people holy to Himself, just as He had sworn to you, in case you should observe the instructions of Yahweh your Elohim, and walk in His ways,

⁵ Gather my benign ones to Me, Contractors of a covenant with Me by sacrifice."

³ Holy [is] Israel to Yahweh, The first-fruit of His increase, All consuming him are guilty, Evil comes in unto them, an affirmation of Yahweh."

² But you do I know of all the families of the ground, therefore will I visit on you all your depravities."

¹⁷ And they become Mine, says Yahweh of hosts, for the day which I am making, a special possession, and I will spare them just as a man is sparing his son who is serving him."

¹⁹ Or are you not aware that your body is a temple of the holy spirit in you, which you have from God, and you are not your own? ²⁰ For you are bought with a price. By all means glorify God in your body.

¹⁴ Who gives Himself for us, that He should be redeeming us from all lawlessness and be cleansing for Himself a people to be about Him, zealous for ideal acts."

⁹ Yet you are a chosen race, a "royal priesthood,a "holy nation,a procured people, so that you should be recounting the virtues of Him Who calls you out of darkness into His marvelous light,

⁵ and spares not the ancient world, but guards Noah, an eighth, a herald of righteousness, bringing a deluge on the world of the irreverent;"

⁹ the Lord is acquainted with the rescue of the devout out of trial, yet is keeping the unjust for chastening in the day of judging,

²² With seventy souls your fathers went down to Egypt. Yet now Yahweh your Elohim has made you as the stars of the heavens for multitude.

¹ Not to us, O Yahweh, not to us, But to Your Name give glory, On account of Your benignity, Your faithfulness."

² Look to Abraham, your forefather, and to Sarah, who travailed with you, for one was he when I called him and blessed him, and I loved him and will increase him."

¹⁴ Yet what a cramped gate and narrowed way is the one leading away into life, and few are those who are finding it."

³² Do not fear, little flocklet, for it delights your Father to give you the kingdom."

¹¹ For, not as yet being born, nor putting into practice anything good or bad, that the purpose of God may be remaining as a choice, not out of acts, but of Him Who is calling, ¹² it was declared to her that "The greater shall be slaving for the inferior, ¹³ According as it is written, "Jacob I love, yet Esau I hate." ¹⁴ What, then, shall we be declaring? Not that there is injustice with God? May it not be coming to that!" ¹⁵ For to Moses He is saying, "I shall be merciful to whomever I may be merciful, and I shall be pitying whomever I may be pitying."

¹⁸ Consequently, then, to whom He will, He is merciful, yet whom He will, He is hardening."

²¹ Or has not the potter the right over the clay, out of the same kneading to make one vessel, indeed, for honor, yet one for dishonor?

²⁷ Now Isaiah is crying over Israel, If the number of the sons of Israel should be as the sand of the sea, the residue shall be saved, ²⁸ for "a conclusive and concise accounting the Lord will be doing on the earth." ²⁹ And according as Isaiah declared before, "Except the Lord of hosts conserved us a seed, As Sodom would we become, And to Gomorrah would we be likened."

⁶ Now if it is in grace, it is no longer out of works, else the grace is coming to be no longer grace. Now, if it is out of works, it is no longer grace, else the work is no longer work."

¹ Perceive what manner of love the Father has given us, that we may be called children of God! And we are! Therefore the world does not know us, for it did not know Him."

¹⁰ In this is love, not that we love God, but that He loves us, and dispatches His son, a propitiatory shelter concerned with our sins."

¹⁶ By Myself I swear, averring is Yahweh, that, because you have done this thing and have not kept back your son, your only one, from Me, ¹⁷ that, blessing, yea, blessing you am I, and increasing, yea, increasing your seed am I as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the sea shore. And your seed shall tenant the gateway of its enemies, ¹⁸ and blessed, in your seed, shall be all the nations of the earth, inasmuch as you hearken to My voice.

⁴¹ And it came to be at the end of four hundred thirty years--and it came to be on this very day--that all the host of Yahweh went forth from the land of Egypt. ⁴² It is a night of observances for Yahweh to bring them forth from the land of Egypt. This same night is to Yahweh, observances for all the sons of Israel throughout their generations.

³ Moses said to the people: You are to remember this day on which you went forth from the land of Egypt, from the house of servants, for with steadfastness of hand Yahweh brought you forth hence; then nothing leavened should be eaten.

¹⁴ When it comes to be that your son is asking you tomorrow, saying: What does this mean? then you will say to him, With steadfastness of hand Yahweh brought us forth from Egypt, from the house of servants.

² I am Yahweh your Elohim Who brought you forth from the land of Egypt, from the house of servants.

¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac and Israel, Your servants to whom You swore by Yourself. You spoke to them, saying: I shall increase your seed as the stars of the heavens, and all this land, as I have said, I shall give it to your seed, and they will gain it as an allotment for the eon.

²⁰ As for you, Yahweh took you, and He brought you forth from the iron crucible, from Egypt, to become His as a people of allotment, as on this day.

³⁴ Or has an elohim ever tried to come and take for himself a nation from among another nation by trials, by signs and by miracles, by war, by a steadfast hand and by an outstretched arm and by great fear-inspiring deeds, such as all that Yahweh your Elohim did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

³⁷ For inasmuch as He loved your fathers and chose their seed after them and brought you forth from Egypt into His presence by His great vigor,

⁴ Do not say in your heart when Yahweh your Elohim thrusts them out from before you, saying:Because of my own righteousness Yahweh brings me in to tenant this land. Rather it is because of the wickedness of these nations that Yahweh is evicting them before your face. ⁵ It is not because of your own righteousness or the uprightness of your own heart that you are entering to tenant their country, for it is because of the wickedness of these nations that Yahweh your Elohim is evicting them before your face, so that He may confirm the word that Yahweh had sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob.

¹⁵ But Yahweh was attached to your fathers to love them so that He chooses their seed after them, you, out of all the peoples, as it is this day.

²² for Yahweh does not leave His people, on account of His great name; for Yahweh has been pleased to make you to Him for a people.

²⁰ And He brings me out to a large place, He draws me out for He delighted in me.

³ For neither by their sword did they tenant the land, Nor did their arm bring salvation for them. But it was Your right hand and Your arm of power and the light of Your countenance, For You held them dear."

⁸ He remembers His covenant for the eon, The word He enjoined on a thousand generations, ⁹ That He contracted with Abraham, And by His oath to Isaac." ¹⁰ He ratified it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as a covenant eonian."

⁴² For He was mindful of His holy word With Abraham, His servant,

⁴ You are more precious than riches, in My eyes. Glorified are you, and I, I love you. And I will give humanity in your stead, and folkstems in your soul's stead."

³ From afar Yahweh has appeared to me, With love eonian I have loved you, Therefore I have drawn you [with] kindness."

¹⁷ Yahweh, your Elohim, is within you; He, the Master, will save. He will be elated over you with rejoicing; He will renew you in His love; He will exult over you with jubilation."

²⁶ Yea, Father, seeing that thus it became a delight in front of Thee."

⁵⁵ (According as He speaks to our fathers) To Abraham and to his seed, for the eon."

⁷² To do mercy with our fathers, And to be reminded of His holy covenant, ⁷³ The oath which He swears to Abraham our father,

⁴ yet God, being rich in mercy, because of His vast love with which He loves us" ⁵ (we also being dead to the offenses and the lusts), vivifies us together in Christ (in grace are you saved!)"

¹³ Now we ought to be thanking God always concerning you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, seeing that God prefers you from the beginning for salvation, in holiness of the spirit and faith in the truth, ¹⁴ into which He also calls us through our evangel, for the procuring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ."

³ For we also were once foolish, stubborn, deceived, slaves of various desires and gratifications, leading a life in malice and envy, detestable, hating one another." ⁴ Yet when the kindness and fondness for humanity of our Saviour, God, made its advent, ⁵ not for works which are wrought in righteousness which we do, but according to His mercy, He saves us, through the bath of renascence and renewal of holy spirit, ⁶ which He pours out on us richly through Jesus Christ, our Saviour, ⁷ that, being justified in that One's grace, we may be becoming enjoyers, in expectation, of the allotment of life eonian."

¹³ For God, promising Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, swears by Himself, ¹⁴ saying, "If, in sooth, it is blessing, I shall be blessing you, and multiplying, I shall be multiplyingyou!" ¹⁵ And thus, being patient, he happened on the promise." ¹⁶ For men are swearing by a greater, and to them an oath for confirmation is an end of all contradiction, ¹⁷ in which God, intending more superabundantly to exhibit to the enjoyers of the allotment of the promise the immutability of His counsel, interposes with an oath,

¹⁹ We are loving God, for He first loves us."

⁷ And I set up My covenant between Me and you, and your seed after you, for their generations, for a covenant eonian, to become your Elohim and your seed's after you.

⁶ yet doing kindness to thousands, to those loving Me and observing My instructions.

⁶ Now Yahweh passed by before his face and called: Yahweh, Yahweh El, Who is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and with much kindness and truth, ⁷ preserving kindness to thousands, bearing with depravity, transgression and sin, yet He is not immediately making innocent in order to make innocent, but visiting the depravity of the fathers on the sons and on the sons' sons, on the third and on the fourth generation.

³⁵ You were shown this to know that Yahweh, He is the only Elohim. There is no one else aside from Him.

¹⁰ yet doing kindness to thousands, to those loving Me and observing My instructions.

¹⁵ Remember you to the eon His covenant, The word He commanded--To a thousand generations,

⁵ And I say, `I beseech you, O Yahweh, Elohim of the heavens, El, the great and the fearful, keeping the covenant and kindness for those loving Him, and for those keeping His commands,

⁷⁵ I know, O Yahweh, that Your ordinances are righteous, And You have humbled me in faithfulness."

⁶ Maker of the heavens and earth, The sea and all that is in them, The Guardian of truth for the eons;"

⁷ Thus says my Lord Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Elohim of Israel, his Holy One, to the despised of His soul, to the abhorred of the nation, to the servant of rulers, "Kings shall see him, and they rise, and chiefs shall also worship him, on account of Yahweh, Who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, and He shall choose you."

²³ They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness;

⁴ I am praying to Yahweh my Elohim and am confessing and saying, "Oh, my Lord the El, great and fearful, Keeper of the covenant and the kindness for those loving Him and keeping His instructions:"

²⁸ Now we are aware that God is working all together for the good of those who are loving God, who are called according to the purpose"

⁹ Faithful is God, through Whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord."

³ Now if anyone is loving God, this one is known by Him."

³ and all ate the same spiritual food,

¹⁸ Now God is faithful, for our word toward you is not "Yesand "No,

²⁴ Faithful is He Who is calling you, Who will be doing it also."

³ Yet faithful is the Lord, Who will be establishing you and guarding you from the wicked one."

¹³ if we are disbelieving, He is remaining faithful - He cannot disown Himself."

² in expectation of life eonian, which God, Who does not lie, promises before times eonian,

¹⁸ that by two immutable matters, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong consolation, who are fleeing for refuge to lay hold of the expectation lying before us,

²³ We may be retaining the avowal of the expectation without wavering, for faithful is He Who promises."

¹¹ By faith Sarah herself also obtained power for the disruption of seed, and brought forth beyond the period of her prime, since she deems the Promiser faithful;"

¹² Happy is the man who is enduring trial, for, becoming qualified, he will be obtaining the wreath of life, which He promises to those loving Him."

⁹ If we should be avowing our sins, He is faithful and just that He may be pardoning us our sins and should be cleansing us from all injustice."

⁹ Then know that Yahweh your Elohim, He is the One Elohim, the El, Who is faithful, keeping the covenant and the kindness to those loving Him and to those observing His instructions for a thousand generations,

²⁵ From the outside, the sword shall bereave, and from the chambers, the dread of war, even for the man in his prime, even for the virgin, the suckling along with the grey-haired man.

³⁵ for the day of vengeance and repayment, for the season when their foot shall slip? For the day of their calamity is near, and impending doom hurries upon them.

⁴¹ when I whet My flashing sword and My hand lays hold on judgment, I shall return vengeance to My foes, and to My haters shall I make repayment.

⁸ Your hand shall find all Your enemies; Your right hand, it shall find those hating You." ⁹ You shall make them like a fiery stove in the era of Your presence. Yahweh shall swallow them up in His anger, And fire shall devour them."

³¹ If the righteous one receives repayment on the earth, How much more indeed the wicked one and the sinner."

¹⁸ As requitals, so will He repay fury to His foes, a requital to His enemies, to the coastlanders a requital will He repay."

² An El, jealous and avenging, is Yahweh. An avenger is Yahweh, and possessor of fury. An avenger is Yahweh to His foes, and a transporter is He of his enemies."

²³ He who is hating Me is hating My Father also. ²⁴ If I do not the works among them which no other one does, they had no sin. Yet now they have seen also, and they have hated Me as well as My Father,

¹⁹ you are not avenging yourselves, beloved, but be giving place to His indignation, for it is written, Mine is vengeance! I will repay! the Lord is saying. "

⁹ The Lord is not tardy as to the promise, as some are deeming tardiness, but is patient because of you, not intending any to perish, but all to make room for repentance." ¹⁰ Now the day of the Lord will be arriving as a thief, in which the heavens shall be passing by with a booming noise, yet the elements shall be dissolved by combustion, and the earth and the works in it shall be found."

¹ Now, Israel, hearken to the statutes and to the judgments that I am teaching you today, to obey them, that you may live and may enter and tenant the land that Yahweh Elohim of your fathers is giving to you.

³² You will observe to do just as Yahweh your Elohim had enjoined on you. You shall not withdraw to the right or to the left.

¹⁵ If you should be loving Me, you will be keeping My precepts."

³ If you walk by My statutes and observe My instructions and keep them, ⁴ then I will give your downpours in their season, and the land will give its crop, and the tree of the field shall give its fruit. ⁵ Your threshing will overtake the vintage, and the vintage, it shall overtake the sowing; you will eat your bread to satisfaction and dwell in trust in your land. ⁶ I will give peace in the land, and you will lie down with no one making you tremble; I will eradicate the vicious animal from the land, and no sword shall pass through your land. ⁷ You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword;" ⁸ five of you will pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you shall pursue a myriad, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword. ⁹ I will countenance you, make you fruitful, increase you and confirm My covenant with you. ¹⁰ You will eat stored stores and bring forth the stores in view of the new. ¹¹ I will put My tabernacle in your midst, and My soul shall not loathe you. ¹² I will walk about in your midst and will be your Elohim and you, you shall be My people. ¹³ I, Yahweh, am your Elohim Who brought you forth from the land of Egypt, from being servants to them. I have broken the slider bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk upraised.

¹ It will come to be if you should hearken, yea hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim, to observe and to keep all His instructions which I am enjoining on you today, that Yahweh your Elohim will give you supremacy over all the nations of the earth. ² And all these blessings will come on you and overtake you in case you should hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim. ³ Blessed be you in the city, and blessed be you in the field. ⁴ Blessed be the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beast, the calving of your domestic animals and the lambing of your flock. ⁵ Blessed be your basket and your kneading-trough. ⁶ Blessed be you in your coming in, and blessed be you in your going forth. ⁷ Yahweh shall make your enemies who are rising against you to be struck down before you. By a single road shall they come forth to you, and by seven roads shall they flee before you. ⁸ Yahweh shall instruct the blessing to be with you in your granaries and in every undertaking of your hand, and He will bless you in the land that Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you. ⁹ Yahweh shall raise you as a people holy to Himself, just as He had sworn to you, in case you should observe the instructions of Yahweh your Elohim, and walk in His ways, ¹⁰ so that all the peoples of the earth will see that the name of Yahweh is proclaimed over you, and they will fear you. ¹¹ Then through the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your domestic beast and the fruit of your ground, Yahweh will give you surplus in goods on the ground about which Yahweh had sworn to your fathers to give to you. ¹² Yahweh shall open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless every work of your hand. You will obligate many nations, yet you shall not borrow. ¹³ So Yahweh will make you to be the head and not the tail, and you will surely be above, and you shall not be below, in case you should hearken to the instructions of Yahweh your Elohim that I am enjoining on you today, to observe and to obey. ¹⁴ You shall not withdraw from any of the words which I am instructing you today, neither to the right nor left, to go after other elohim to serve them.

²⁰ You wilt render the truth to Jacob, the kindness to Abraham, which You swear to our forefathers from days aforetime."

²⁵ You shall serve Yahweh your Elohim, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take away illness from among you.

⁷ It was not because your multitude was more than all the other peoples that Yahweh was attached to you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all the peoples.

³ Blessed be you in the city, and blessed be you in the field. ⁴ Blessed be the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beast, the calving of your domestic animals and the lambing of your flock. ⁵ Blessed be your basket and your kneading-trough.

¹¹ Then through the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your domestic beast and the fruit of your ground, Yahweh will give you surplus in goods on the ground about which Yahweh had sworn to your fathers to give to you.

¹⁵ It will come to be if you do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim to observe and to do all His instructions and His statutes that I am enjoining on you today, that all these maledictions will come on you and overtake you. ¹⁶ Cursed be you in the city, and cursed be you in the field. ¹⁷ Cursed be your basket and your kneading-trough. ¹⁸ Cursed be the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beast, the calving of your domestic animals and the lambing of your flock.

¹² Thus Yahweh Himself blessed the latter years of Job more than his beginning. He came to have a flock of fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand pair of oxen and a thousand jennies.

³ So he comes to be like a tree transplanted by rillets of water, That yields its fruit in its season, And its leaf does not decay; Hence all that he does shall prosper.

⁷ For Yahweh is righteous; He loves righteous deeds. The upright, they shall perceive His face. {Permanent, Concerning the Octave{ "

¹² That our sons be like plants grown great in their youth, Our daughters like cornerposts sculptured as in palace style, ¹³ Our garners be filled with harvested crops from one sort to every sort, Our flock become thousands, ten thousands in our open places, ¹⁴ And our domestic animals strong for bearing burdens There will be no breaching of walls, And there will be no going forth in defeat; There will be no fearful yelling in our squares." ¹⁵ Happy is the people for whom it is thus; Happy is the people whose Elohim is Yahweh.

²² The blessing of Yahweh, it enriches, And He shall not add grief to it."

¹⁰ Then bring the entire tithe to the treasure house, and viands will come to be in My house. And test Me, I pray, in this, says Yahweh of hosts, if I will not open for you crevices in the heavens and I empty for you a blessing till there is insufficient storage." ¹¹ And I will rebuke for you the devourer, and he shall not ruin the fruit of the ground for you, nor shall it bereave for you the vine in the field, says Yahweh of hosts."

³³ Yet seek first the kingdom and its righteousness, and these all shall be added to you."

²¹ He who has My precepts and is keeping them, he it is who is loving Me. Now he who is loving Me will be loved by My Father, and I shall be loving him and shall be disclosing Myself to him."

¹⁰ If ever you should be keeping My precepts, you will be remaining in My love, according as I have kept the precepts of My Father and am remaining in His love."

²⁷ for the Father Himself is fond of you, seeing that you are fond of Me, and have believed that I came out from God."

²⁶ None shall come to be miscarrying or barren in your land. I shall make the number of your days full. ²⁷ I shall send the dread of Me before you, I will discomfit all the people against whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn the nape of their necks to you. ²⁸ I will send the hornet before you, and it will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite and the Hittite from before you. ²⁹ I shall not drive them out from before you in one year lest the land should become desolate, and the field animal be many against you. ³⁰ Little by little shall I drive them out from before you until you are fruitful and you are allotted the land. ³¹ And I will set your boundary from the Sea of Weeds unto the sea of the Philistines and from the wilderness unto the Stream, for I shall give into your hand the dwellers of the land, and you will drive them out from your presence.

⁹ I will countenance you, make you fruitful, increase you and confirm My covenant with you.

⁴ Blessed be the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beast, the calving of your domestic animals and the lambing of your flock.

²⁹ Happy are you, Israel! Who is like you? A people saved by Yahweh, the Shield of your Helper, Who is also the Sword of your augustness! Your enemies shall dissimulate submission to you, yet you, you shall tread on their fane heights.

¹⁵ Blessed be you by Yahweh, Maker of the heavens and earth."

³ Behold, sons are an allotment from Yahweh; The fruit of the belly is a reward."

¹⁹ He is telling His words to Jacob, His statutes and His ordinances to Israel." ²⁰ He has not done so for any other nation, And His ordinances, they do not know them at all. Praise Yah."

¹¹ Now the sacred scribes were unable to stand before Moses in view of the boils, for the boil came to be on the sacred scribes and on all Egypt.

²⁶ for He said: If you shall hearken, yea hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim and do what is upright in His eyes, and give ear to His instructions and observe all His statutes, then all the illnesses which I placed on the Egyptians I shall not place on you, for I am Yahweh your Healer.

³ If you walk by My statutes and observe My instructions and keep them, ⁴ then I will give your downpours in their season, and the land will give its crop, and the tree of the field shall give its fruit.

²⁷ Yahweh shall smite you with the boil of Egypt, with piles, with eczema and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed.

⁶⁰ Thus He will bring back to you every disease of Egypt from the presence of which you shrank away, and they will cling to you.

³⁶ Then He smote all the firstborn in their country, The beginning of all their virility." ³⁷ Thus He brought His people forth with silver and gold, And there was no one stumbling among their tribes."

³³ They shall not dwell in your land lest they should make you sin against Me so that you serve their elohim, and that it should come to be a trap for you.

⁵⁵ Yet if you should not evict the dwellers of the land from your presence, then those whom you are leaving of them will become barbs in your eyes and pricks in your sides, and they will distress you in the land in which you are dwelling.

² when Yahweh your Elohim gives them up before you, and you smite them, then you shall doom, yea doom them. You shall neither contract a covenant with them nor be gracious to them,

³⁰ Guard yourself lest you should be trapped to go after them after they are exterminated before your face, and lest you inquire about their elohim, saying:How do these nations serve their elohim that I, I too, may do thus? ³¹ You shall not act thus toward Yahweh your Elohim, for every abhorrence which Yahweh hates they perform for their elohim, for even their sons and their daughters they burn with fire for their elohim.

¹³ Your eye shall not commiserate over him. Thus you will eradicate from Israel the shedding of innocent blood, and it will be well with you.

²¹ Your eye shall not commiserate:soul for soul, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

¹² then you will cut away her palm. Your eye shall not commiserate over her.

¹³ know certainly that Yahweh your Elohim is not continuing to dispossess these nations from before you, and they have been to you for a gin, and for a snare, and for a scourge, in your sides, and for thorns in your eyes, till you perish from off this good ground which Yahweh your Elohim has given to you. ¹⁴ `And lo, I am going, to-day, in the way of all the earth, and you have known--with all your heart, and with all your soul--that there has not fallen one thing of all the good things which Yahweh your Elohim has spoken concerning you; the whole have come to you; there has not failed of it one thing. <sup>15</sup> `And it has been, as there has come upon you all the good thing which Yahweh your Elohim has spoken unto you, so does Yahweh bring upon you the whole of the evil thing, till His destroying you from off this good ground which Yahweh your Elohim has given to you;" ¹⁶ in your transgressing the covenant of Yahweh your Elohim which He commanded you, and you have gone and served other elohims, and bowed yourselves to them, then has the anger of Yahweh burned against you, and you have perished hastily from off the good land which He has given to you..

³ And I also have said, I do not cast them out from your presence, and they have been to you for adversaries, and their elohims are to you for a snare..

¹² and forsake Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, who brings them out from the land of Egypt, and go after other elohims (of the elohims of the peoples who [are] round about them), and bow themselves to them, and provoke Yahweh,

⁶ and take their daughters to them for wives, and their daughters have given to their sons, and they serve their elohims;"

²⁷ and Gideon makes it into an ephod, and sets it up in his city, in Ophrah, and all Israel go a-whoring after it there, and it is to Gideon and to his house for a snare.

³⁶ They served their fetishes, And these came to be a trap for them."

⁷ And after this--an affirmation of Yahweh, I give Zedekiah king of Judah, And his servants, and the people, And those left in this city, From the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, Into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of their enemies, And into the hand of those seeking their life, And he has smitten them by the mouth of the sword, He has no pity on them, Nor does he spare, nor has he mercy."

³³ Be not deceived: evil conversations are corrupting kind characters.

³² Thus they brought forth among the sons of Israel disparaging muttering about the land which they had explored, saying:The land through which we passed to explore it, it is a land that is devouring its dwellers; it and all the people whom we saw in its midst were men of great measure.

⁵³ You will prepare the land for tenancy and dwell in it, for to you I give the land to tenant it.

¹⁷ Guard yourself lest you say in your heart:My vigor and the staunchness of my hand make for me this great estate.

⁹ Guard yourself lest there should be in your heart the decadent word, saying:The seventh year is near, the year of the release, so that your eye is evil toward your needy brother, and you give him nothing. Then he may call out to Yahweh concerning you, and it will be held as a sin against you.

²¹ In case you should say in your heart:How shall we know the word that Yahweh has not spoken?

¹⁶ And the sons of Joseph say, `The hill is not found to us, and a chariot of iron [is] with every Canaanite who is dwelling in the land of the valley--to him who [is] in Beth-Shean and its towns, and to him who [is] in the valley of Jezreel.. <sup>17</sup> And Joshua speaks unto the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, `You [are] a numerous people, and have great power; you have not one lot [only], ¹⁸ because the mountain is your; because it [is] a forest--you have prepared it, and its outgoings have been your; because you do dispossess the Canaanite, though it has chariots of iron--though it [is] strong..

¹³ Yet you, you said in your heart, "To the heavens will I ascend! Above the stars of El will I raise high my throne, and I will sit in the mount of appointment, in the flanks of the north."

⁸ And now, hear this, luxuriant one, dwelling trustingly, who is saying in her heart, `I, and only I, further! I shall not sit, a widow, nor see bereavement.'"

²¹ And you say in your heart, `Who generated these for me, while I was bereaved and a widow, and deported and withdrawn? And these--who brought them up for me? Behold! I remained alone. Yet these-- whereat were they?'"

²² And when you do say in your heart, `Wherefore have these met me?' For the abundance of your iniquity Have your skirts been uncovered, Have your heels suffered violence."

⁴⁷ Now Jesus, perceiving the reasoning of their hearts, getting hold of a little child, stands it beside Himself"

¹ Yahweh said to Moses: See, I appoint you as Elohim to Pharaoh; and Aaron, your brother, shall come to be your prophet. ² You yourself shall speak all that I am instructing you while Aaron, your brother, shall speak to Pharaoh that he dismiss the sons of Israel from his land. ³ And I Myself shall harden the heart of Pharaoh and increase My signs and My miracles in the land of Egypt. ⁴ Though Pharaoh shall not hearken to you, yet I will lay My hand on Egypt and bring forth My hosts, My people, the sons of Israel, from the land of Egypt with great judgments. ⁵ And all the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh when I stretch out My hand over Egypt and bring forth the sons of Israel from their midst. ⁶ So Moses and Aaron did just as Yahweh instructed them; thus they did. ⁷ Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh. ⁸ Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying. ⁹ When Pharaoh is speaking to you, saying, Give your sign or miracle, then you will say to Aaron, Take your rod and fling it before Pharaoh that it may become a snake. ¹⁰ Moses and Aaron entered to Pharaoh and did so, just as Yahweh had instructed. Aaron flung his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a snake. ¹¹ Pharaoh, however, called for the wise men and for the enchanters. And even they, the sacred scribes of Egypt, did so with their occultisms. ¹² Each man flung his rod, and they became snakes. Then Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. ¹³ Yet the heart of Pharaoh was steadfast, and he did not hearken to them, just as Yahweh had spoken. ¹⁴ Then Yahweh said to Moses: Gloried is the heart of Pharaoh; he has refused to dismiss the people.

²⁹ Then I said to you:You should not be terrified, and you should not fear them.

⁶ And we doomed them just as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, dooming every city--adult males, women and little ones.

⁶ Be steadfast, and be resolute! Do not fear, and do not be terrified because of their presence, for Yahweh your Elohim, He is the One going with you; He shall neither neglect you nor forsake you.

¹³ And Gideon said unto him, `O, my lord--and Yahweh is with us! --and why has all this found us? and where [are] all His wonders which our fathers recounted to us, saying, Has not Yahweh brought us up out of Egypt? and now Yahweh has left us, and does give us into the hand of Midian..

¹ {Davidic{ Yahweh is my Light and my Salvation; Whom should I fear? Yahweh is the Stronghold of my life; Of whom should I be afraid? ² When evildoers drew near against me To devour my flesh, They who were to me my foes and my enemies, They stumbled and fell."

¹ {For the Sons of Korah{ {Concerning the Eons{ {A Song{ Elohim is our Refuge and Strength, A very providing Help in distresses." ² Therefore, we shall not fear when the earth is made to change, Or when the mountains slide into the heart of the seas."

¹¹ I shall remember all the activity of Yah; Indeed I shall remember Your marvelous works from aforetime.

¹¹ They forgot all His activity And His marvelous works that He had shown them.

⁴² They did not remember His hand:The day when He ransomed them from the foe, ⁴³ When He placed His signs in Egypt, And His miracles in the field of Zoan." ⁴⁴ He turned their waterways to blood, So they could drink from their flowings no more." ⁴⁵ He sent a mixture of flies among them, and it devoured them, And the frog plague, and it ruined them." ⁴⁶ He gave their crop over to the beetle, And the fruit of their labor to the locust." ⁴⁷ He killed their vine with hail, And their mulberry trees with sleet." ⁴⁸ He closed their livestock over to hail, And their cattle to siroccos." ⁴⁹ He sent upon them the heat of His anger, Rage and menace and distress, A mission of the messengers of perils, ⁵⁰ Who aligned a track for His anger; He did not keep back their soul from death, And He closed their life over to the plague." ⁵¹ Then He smote every firstborn in Egypt, The beginning of virility in the tents of Ham."

⁵ Remember His marvelous works that He has done, His miracles and the judgments of His mouth,

²⁶ He sent Moses, His servant, And Aaron whom He had chosen." ²⁷ He placed the words of His signs before them, And His miracles before the country of Ham." ²⁸ He sent darkness, and it became very dark, And they could not defy His words." ²⁹ He turned their waters to blood, And He put their fish to death." ³⁰ Their country swarmed with frogs, Into the chambers of their kings." ³¹ He spoke, and there came a mixture of flies, Lice in all their territory." ³² He turned their downpours to hail, With fiery bolts blazing in their country." ³³ He smote their vines and their fig trees, And He broke down the trees of their territory." ³⁴ He spoke, and the locust came, And the young-locust and they were without number." ³⁵ It devoured all the herbage in their country And devoured the fruit of their ground. ³⁶ Then He smote all the firstborn in their country, The beginning of all their virility."

⁸ He Who smote the firstborn of Egypt From human unto beast, ⁹ He sent signs and miracles Into your midst, Egypt, Against Pharaoh and all his servants;" ¹⁰ He Who smote many nations And killed staunch kings,

¹⁰ To the One smiting Egypt in their firstborn, For His benignity is eonian;" ¹¹ And Who brought forth Israel from their midst, For His benignity is eonian;" ¹² By a steadfast hand and by an outstretched arm, For His benignity is eonian;" ¹³ To the One severing the Sea of Weeds into severed parts, For His benignity is eonian;" ¹⁴ And Who caused Israel to pass through its midst, For His benignity is eonian;" ¹⁵ And Who shook off Pharaoh and his army into the Sea of Weeds, For His benignity is eonian;"

¹⁰ You must not fear, for I am with you, and you must not take heed for yourself, for I am your Elohim. I make you resolute; indeed, I help you. Indeed, I uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.'" ¹¹ Behold! Ashamed and confounded shall all be who were hot with you. They are coming to be as nothing. And perish shall all mortals who contend with you. ¹² You shall seek them, yet shall not find them. And the mortals with whom you strive shall come to be as nothing, and a limit is reached by the mortals who war with you." ¹³ For I, Yahweh, your Elohim, am holding fast your right hand, saying to you, `You must not fear; I, I help you." ¹⁴ You must not fear, worm Jacob, and death-doomed of Israel, I, I help you,'averring is Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel."

⁹ Rouse! Rouse! Clothe yourself with strength, arm of Yahweh! Rouse as in days aforetime, the generations of the eons! Are not You He, the Hewer of the audacious, the Wounder of the monster? ¹⁰ Are not you He, the Drainer of the sea, the waters of the vast submerged chaos? He Who places in the depths of the sea a way for the passing of the redeemed?

¹¹ Yet He will remember the days of the eon of Moses and His people. Where is He Who brought them up from the sea with the shepherd of His flock? Where is He Who placed within them His holy spirit, ¹² conducting them by the right hand of Moses, His glorious arm rending the water before them, to make for Himself a name eonian, ¹³ conducting them in the submerged chaos? As a horse in the wilderness, they are not stumbling." ¹⁴ As a beast into a valley is descending, the spirit of Yahweh is guiding them to rest. So lead You Your people, to make for Yourself a name of beauty." ¹⁵ Look from the heavens, and see from the residence of Your holiness and Your beauty. Where is Your zeal and Your mastery? Where is the clamor of Your bowels? And Your compassions toward us, do they check themselves?

² You know today, (though not your sons, who have not known and who have not seen) the discipline of Yahweh your Elohim, His greatness, His steadfast hand and His outstretched arm, ³ His signs and His deeds that He did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to all his country ⁴ and what He did to Egypt's army, to its horses and to its chariots, when He caused the waters of the Sea of Weeds to float over their faces in their pursuit after you; thus Yahweh destroyed them until this day.

³ the great trials that your eyes saw, the signs and those great miracles.

¹⁰ and Joshua said, `By this you know that the living El [is] in your midst, and He does certainly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite.

¹⁰ and do give signs and wonders on Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land, for You have known that they have acted proudly against them, and You make to You a name as [at] this day. ¹¹ And the sea You have cleaved before them, and they pass over into the midst of the sea on the dry land, and their pursuers You have cast into the depths, as a stone, into the strong waters.

²⁰ In that you have done signs and wonders in the land of Egypt unto this day, and in Israel, and among men, and You do make for You a name as [at] this day." ²¹ `And You bring forth Your people Israel from the land of Egypt, with signs and with wonders, and by a strong hand, and by a stretched-out arm, and by great fear,

⁶ In that day I did lift up My hand to them, To bring them forth from the land of Egypt, Unto a land that I spied out for them, Flowing with milk and honey, A beauty it [is] to all the lands, ⁷ And I say unto them, Let each cast away the detestable things of his eyes, And with the idols of Egypt be not defiled, I [am] Yahweh your Elohim." ⁸ And--they rebel against Me, And have not been willing to hearken to Me, Each, the detestable things of their eyes, They have not cast away, And the idols of Egypt have not forsaken, And I say--to pour out My fury on them, To complete Mine anger against them, In the midst of the land of Egypt." ⁹ And I do [it] for My name's sake, Not to pollute [it] before the eyes of the nations, In whose midst they [are], Before whose eyes I became known to them, To bring them out from the land of Egypt."

²⁸ I will send the hornet before you, and it will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite and the Hittite from before you. ²⁹ I shall not drive them out from before you in one year lest the land should become desolate, and the field animal be many against you. ³⁰ Little by little shall I drive them out from before you until you are fruitful and you are allotted the land.

¹² And I send before you the hornet, and it casts them out from your presence--two kings of the Amorite--not by your sword, nor by your bow.

²⁰ Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle for a number of days. At the bidding of Yahweh they encamped, and at the bidding of Yahweh they journeyed.

⁹ Only against Yahweh do not revolt, and you, do not fear the people of the land, for they are our bread. Their protecting shadow has withdrawn from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Do not fear them.

¹⁴ and they have spoken to the dwellers of this land; they have heard that You, Yahweh, are among this people, that You are being seen eye to eye, Yahweh, and Your cloud is standing over them, and in a column of cloud You are going before them by day and in a column of fire by night.

⁴² Do not go up since Yahweh is not among you so that you not be stricken before your enemies.

³ They assembled against Moses and against Aaron and said to them:Enough of you! For the whole congregation, all of them are holy, and in their midst is Yahweh; so for what reason are you lifting yourselves up over the assembly of Yahweh?

²¹ He does not look for sorrow in Jacob, nor does He see toil in Israel. Yahweh their Elohim is with him, and the shout of their king is with him.

¹⁷ For Yahweh your Elohim, He is the Elohim of elohim and the Lord of lords, the El, the great, the masterful and the fear-inspiring One, Who neither lifts up faces in partiality nor takes a bribe,

⁸ Then the elders of his city will call to him and speak to him. But if he persists and says:I am not inclined to take her,

⁸ Woe to us, who does deliver us out of the hand of these honorable elohims? these [are] the elohims who are smiting the Egyptians with every plague in the wilderness.

⁸ With him [is] an arm of flesh, and with us [is] Yahweh our Elohim, to help us, and to fight our battles;' and the people are supported by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

¹⁴ And I see, and rise up, and say unto the freemen, and unto the prefects, and unto the rest of the people, `Be not afraid of them; the Lord, the great and the fearful, remember you, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses..

³² `And now, O our Elohim--El, the great, the mighty, and the fearful, keeping the covenant and the kindness--let not all the travail that has found us be little before You, for our kings, for our heads, and for our priests, and for our prophets, and for our fathers, and for all Your people, from the days of the kings of Asshur unto this day;"

⁵ Elohim is within it; it shall never slip; Elohim shall help it at the presence of the morning.

⁹ Know, you peoples, and be dismayed! And give ear, all you far from the land! Belt yourselves and be dismayed! Belt yourselves and be dismayed!" ¹⁰ Counsel with counsel, yet it shall be annulled! Speak the word, yet it shall not be confirmed! For with us is El!"

¹⁰ Be jubilant and rejoice, daughter of Zion! For behold Me coming! And I tabernacle in your midst, (averring is Yahweh)." ¹¹ And many nations shall be obligated to Yahweh in that day, and they become His people. When I tabernacle in your midst, then shall you know that Yahweh of hosts sent me to you."

² Behold I am making Jerusalem a shivering threshold to all the peoples round about. And, moreover, over Judah it shall come to be in the siege over Jerusalem." ³ And it shall come to be in that day, I will make Jerusalem a stone, a lading for all the peoples; all laden with it shall be sorely lacerated, and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered against it." ⁴ In that day, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), I will smite every horse with amazement, and his rider with madness. Yet over the house of Judah will I unclose My eyes, and every horse of the peoples will I smite with blindness." ⁵ And the mentors of Judah will say in their heart, Resoluteness is with me! The dwellers of Jerusalem are in Yahweh of hosts, their Elohim."

²⁵ The hidden things of his heart are becoming apparent, and thus, falling on his face, he will be worshiping God, reporting that God really is among you."

⁶³ As to the Jebusites, inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah have not been able to dispossess them, and the Jebusite dwells with the sons of Judah in Jerusalem unto this day.

¹⁵ And indeed, the hand of Yahweh came to be against them to discomfit them from among the camp, until they had come to end.

²⁰ Like the nations which Yahweh is destroying before your face so shall you perish, inasmuch as you do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim.

³ Know then today that Yahweh your Elohim, He is the One crossing over before you as a devouring fire. He Himself shall exterminate them, and He Himself shall make them submit before you; yet you must evict them and destroy them quickly just as Yahweh has spoken to you.

⁶ Howl! For near is the day of Yahweh! As devastation from Him Who-Suffices shall it come.

¹⁸ Let my pursuers be ashamed, and let not me be ashamed--me! Let them be affrighted, and let not me be affrighted--me! Bring in on them a day of evil, And a second time [with] destruction destroy them."

¹⁵ Alas! Alas! Alas for the day! For near is the day of Yahweh. And as devastation from Him Who-Suffices is it coming.

⁹ who shall incur the justice of eonian extermination from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of His strength"

¹⁴ Then Yahweh said to Moses: Write this as a reminder in a scroll, and put it in the ears of Joshua that I shall wipe out, yea wipe out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens.

¹⁴ Hold yourself back from Me so that I shall exterminate them and wipe out their name from under the heavens, and I shall make you into a more substantial and numerous nation than they.

²⁵ No man shall station himself in your presence. The awe of you and the fear of you shall Yahweh your Elohim put over the face of the entire land on which you shall tread, just as He has spoken to you.

¹⁹ It will come to be when Yahweh your Elohim gives rest to you from all your enemies around in the land that Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you as an allotment to tenant it, you shall wipe out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens. You shall not forget.

²⁰ Yahweh shall not be willing to pardon him, because then Yahweh's anger and His jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the imprecation that is written in this scroll will lie on him. Yahweh will wipe out his name from under the heavens;"

⁵ `No man does station himself before you all days of your life; as I have been with Moses, I am with you, I do not fail you, nor forsake you;"

⁸ And Yahweh said unto Joshua, `Be not afraid of them, for into your hand I have given them, there does not stand a man of them in your presence..

¹ And these [are] kings of the land whom the sons of Israel have smitten, and possess their land, beyond the Jordan, at the sun-rising, from the brook Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain eastward. ² Sihon, king of the Amorite, who is dwelling in Heshbon, ruling from Aroer which [is] on the border of the brook Arnon, and the middle of the brook, and half of Gilead, and unto Jabok the brook, the border of the Bene-Ammon;" ³ And the plain unto the sea of Chinneroth eastward, and unto the sea of the plain (the salt sea) eastward, the way to Beth-Jeshimoth, and from the south under the springs of Pisgah. ⁴ And the border of Og king of Bashan (of the remnant of the Rephaim), who is dwelling in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, ⁵ and ruling in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurite, and the Maachathite, and the half of Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon. ⁶ Moses, servant of Yahweh, and the sons of Israel have smitten them, and Moses, servant of Yahweh, gives it--a possession to the Reubenite, and to the Gadite, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh.

⁹ And Yahweh is dispossessing from before you nations great and mighty; as for you, none has stood in your presence till this day;"

⁵ You rebuke the nations; You destroy the wicked; You wipe out their name for the eon and further.

⁷ The memory of the righteous one is a blessing, Yet the name of the wicked shall rot away."

¹⁷ Any implement formed against you shall not prosper, and any tongue which rises against you for judgment you shall condemn. This is the allotment of the servants of Yahweh, and their righteousness is from Me,averring is Yahweh."

¹¹ Thus do you say to them, The elohims Who the heavens and earth have not made, They do perish from the earth, And from under these heavens."

⁴ I stretch out My hand over Judah, and over all dwellers of Jerusalem. And I cut off the name of Baal from this place, and the name of the dervishes with the priests,

³⁷ Nay! in all these we are more than conquering through Him Who loves us.

⁵⁷ Now thanks be to God, Who is giving us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ."

⁵ But rather, thus shall you do to them:you shall tear down their altars, break their monuments, hack down their Asherah poles, and you shall burn their carvings with fire.

¹⁶ Now you will devour all the peoples whom Yahweh your Elohim is delivering to you. Your eye shall not commiserate over them, and you shall not serve their elohim, for that is a trap to you.

³ Tear down their altars and break their monuments; their Asherah poles you shall burn with fire, and the carvings of their elohim you shall hack down; thus you will destroy their name from that place.

¹ You shall not sacrifice to Yahweh your Elohim a bull or a flockling in which there is a blemish, any bad thing, for it is an abhorrence to Yahweh your Elohim.

¹⁸ You shall not bring the fee of a prostitute or the price of a cur into the house of Yahweh your Elohim for any vow offering, for they are an abhorrence to Yahweh your Elohim, indeed both of them.

¹ And the sons of Israel commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, takes of the devoted thing, and the anger of Yahweh burns against the sons of Israel.

²¹ and I see among the spoil a goodly robe of Shinar, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one wedge of gold, whose weight [is] fifty shekels, and I desire them, and take them; and lo, they [are] hid in the earth, in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it..

²⁴ And Gideon said unto them, `Let me ask of you a petition, and give you to me each the ring of his prey, for they have rings of gold, for they [are] Ishmaelites.. <sup>25</sup> And they say, `We certainly give;' and they spread out the garment, and cast thither each the ring of his prey;" ²⁶ and the weight of the rings of gold which he asked is a thousand and seven hundred [shekels] of gold, apart from the round ornaments, and the drops, and the purple garments, which [are] on the kings of Midian, and apart from the chains which [are] on the necks of their camels, ²⁷ and Gideon makes it into an ephod, and sets it up in his city, in Ophrah, and all Israel go a-whoring after it there, and it is to Gideon and to his house for a snare.

¹² And they leave there their elohims, and David speaks, and they are burnt with fire.

²² And unclean shall you make the overlaying of your silver carvings, and the vestment of your golden molten image. You shall toss them away as what comes from a languishing woman, and as filth shall you reject it."

³ I will terminate human and beast. I will terminate the flyer of the heavens and the fish of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked. And I cut humanity off the surface of the ground, (averring is Yahweh)."

⁹ Now, those intending to be rich are falling into a trial and a trap and the many foolish and harmful desires which are swamping men in extermination and destruction." ¹⁰ For a root of all of the evils is the fondness for money, which some, craving, were led astray from the faith and try themselves on all sides with much pain."

⁵ And on her forehead is written a name: Secret Babylon the Great the mother of the prostitutes and the abominations of the earth.

¹⁷ Nothing whatsoever shall cling to your hand from the doomed loot so that Yahweh may turn back from the heat of His anger and be compassionate to you. He will show you compassion and cause you to increase, just as He had sworn to your fathers,

¹⁷ and the city has been devoted, it and all that [is] in it, to Yahweh; only Rahab the harlot does live, she and all who [are] with her in the house, for she hid the messengers whom we sent;" ¹⁸ and surely you have kept from the devoted thing, lest you devote [yourselves], and have taken from the devoted thing, and have made the camp of Israel become a devoted thing, and have troubled it;" ¹⁹ and all the silver and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, holy they [are] to Yahweh; into the treasury of Yahweh they come.. ²⁰ And the people shout, and blow with the trumpets, and it comes to pass when the people hear the voice of the trumpet, that the people shout--a great shout, and the wall falls under it, and the people goes up into the city, each over-against him, and they capture the city;" ²¹ and they devote all that [is] in the city, from man even unto woman, from young even unto aged, even unto ox, and sheep, and ass, by the mouth of the sword. ²² And to the two men who are spying the land Joshua said, `Go into the house of the woman, the harlot, and bring out thence the woman, and all whom she has, as you have sworn to her.. ²³ And the young man, the spies, go in and bring out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all whom she has; yea, all her families they have brought out, and place them at the outside of the camp of Israel. ²⁴ And the city they have burnt with fire, and all that [is] in it; only, the silver and the gold, and the vessels of brass, and of iron, they have given [to] the treasury of the house of Yahweh;"

¹ And the sons of Israel commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, takes of the devoted thing, and the anger of Yahweh burns against the sons of Israel. ² And Joshua sends men from Jericho to Ai, which [is] near Beth-Aven, on the east of Bethel, and speaks unto them, saying, `Go up and spy the land;' and the men go up and spy Ai, <sup>3</sup> and they turn back unto Joshua, and say unto him, `Let not all the people go up; let about two thousand men, or about three thousand men, go up, and they smite Ai; cause not all the people to labor thither; for they [are] few.. ⁴ And there go up of the people thither about three thousand men, and they flee before the men of Ai, ⁵ and the men of Ai smite of them about thirty and six men, and pursue them before the gate unto Shebarim, and they smite them in Morad; and the heart of the people is melted, and becomes water. ⁶ And Joshua rends his garments, and falls on his face to the earth before the ark of Yahweh till the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and they cause dust to go up on their head. ⁷ And Joshua said, `Ah, Lord Yahweh, why have You at all caused this people to pass over the Jordan, to give us into the hand of the Amorite to destroy us? --and oh that we had been willing--and we dwell beyond the Jordan!" <sup>8</sup> Oh, Lord, what do I say, after that Israel has turned the neck before its enemies? <sup>9</sup> and the Canaanite and all the inhabitants of the land do hear, and have come round against us, and cut off our name out of the earth; and what do You do for Your great name?. <sup>10</sup> And Yahweh said unto Joshua, `Rise for you, why [is] this? --you [are] falling on your face? ¹¹ Israel has sinned, and also they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them, and also taken of the devoted thing, and also stolen, and also deceived, and also put [it] among their vessels, ¹² and the sons of Israel have not been able to stand before their enemies; the neck they turn before their enemies, for they have become a devoted thing; I add not to be with you--if you destroy not the devoted thing out of your midst. ¹³ `Rise, sanctify the people, and you have said, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow; for thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, A devoted thing [is] in your midst, O Israel, you are not able to stand before your enemies till your turning aside of the devoted thing out of your midst;" <sup>14</sup> and you have been brought near in the morning by your tribes, and it has been, the tribe which Yahweh does capture does draw near by families, and the family which Yahweh does capture does draw near by households, and the household which Yahweh does capture does draw near by men;" <sup>15</sup> and it has been, he who is captured with the devoted thing is burnt with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of Yahweh, and because he has done folly in Israel.. <sup>16</sup> And Joshua rises early in the morning, and brings Israel near by its tribes, and the tribe of Judah is captured;" <sup>17</sup> and he brings near the family of Judah, and he captures the family of the Zarhite; and he brings near the family of the Zarhite by men, and Zabdi is captured;" <sup>18</sup> and he brings near his household by men, and Achan--son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah--is captured. <sup>19</sup> And Joshua said unto Achan, `My son, put, I pray you, honor on Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, and give to Him thanks, and declare, I pray you, to me, what you have done--hide not from me.. ²⁰ And Achan answers Joshua, and said, `Truly I have sinned against Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, and thus and thus I have done;" <sup>21</sup> and I see among the spoil a goodly robe of Shinar, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one wedge of gold, whose weight [is] fifty shekels, and I desire them, and take them; and lo, they [are] hid in the earth, in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.. <sup>22</sup> And Joshua sends messengers, and they run unto the tent, and lo, it is hidden in his tent, and the silver under it;" <sup>23</sup> and they take them out of the midst of the tent, and bring them in unto Joshua, and unto all the sons of Israel, and pour them out before Yahweh. <sup>24</sup> And Joshua takes Achan son of Zerah, and the silver, and the robe, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his ox, and his ass, and his flock, and his tent, and all that he has, and all Israel with him, and they cause them to go up the valley of Achor. <sup>25</sup> And Joshua said, `What! you have troubled us! --Yahweh does trouble you this day;' and all Israel cast stones at him, and they burn them with fire, and they stone them with stones, ²⁶ and they raise up over him a great heap of stones unto this day, and Yahweh turns back from the heat of His anger, therefore has [one] called the name of that place `Valley of Achor' till this day.

²⁰ In that day humanity shall fling its forbidden idols of silver, and its forbidden idols of gold, which they make for it to worship, to the mole rats, and to the bats,

¹⁸ And they have gone in thither. And turned aside all its detestable things, And all its abominations--out of it."

⁷ for every one of the house of Israel, and of the sojourners who does sojourn in Israel, who is separated from after Me, and does cause his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity sets over-against his face, and has come in unto the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I, Yahweh, have answered him for Myself;" ⁸ Ephraim--what are grief fetishes to him any longer? I humble him, and am controlling him. I am as a flourishing fir. Your fruit is found to be from Me."

⁹ Woe to him gaining an evil gain for his house in order to place his nest in the height, to be rescued from the clutch of evil!" ¹⁰ You counsel shame for your house to cut away many peoples, and are sinning against your soul, ¹¹ for the stone from the sidewall shall cry out, and the knot from the timber shall answer it."

⁴ I will bring it forth, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), and it enters into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears in My name falsely, and it lodges in the midst of his house, and it consumes it and its timbers and its stones."

²² who are saying not to be committing adultery, you are committing adultery! who are abominating idols, you are despoiling the sanctuary!"
