²⁹ You must not rejoice, Philistia, any of you, that the club of your smiter is broken, for from the root of the serpent shall come forth a yellow viper, and its fruit, the burning flying serpent,

³ from Sihor which [is] on the front of Egypt, and unto the border of Ekron northward, to the Canaanite it is reckoned, five princes of the Philistines, the Gazathite, and the Ashdothite, the Eshkalonite, the Gittite, and the Ekronite, also the Avim.

¹⁷ And these [are] the golden emerods which the Philistines have sent back--a guilt-offering to Yahweh:for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;" ¹⁸ and the golden mice--the number of all the cities of the Philistines--for the five princes, from the fenced city even unto the hamlet of the villages, even unto the great meadow on which they placed the ark of Yahweh--[are] unto this day in the field of Joshua the Beth-Shemeshite.

⁸ he has smitten the Philistines unto Gaza, and its borders, from a tower of watchers unto the fenced city.

⁶ And he goes forth, and fights with the Philistines, and breaks down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and builds cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

¹⁸ And the Philistines have rushed against the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and capture Beth-Shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho and its villages, and Timnah and its villages, and Gimzo and its villages, and dwell there,

¹⁷ At the fall of your enemy do not rejoice, And at his stumbling do not let your heart exult,

⁸ And the sucking will revel over the hole of a cobra, and on the light-shaft of a yellow viper the weanling his hand obtrudes."

⁶ The load of the beasts of the south rim; in a land of distress and aridity and constraint, the parent lion and the long maned lion are there, yet no water. The puff adder and the burning serpent are making flight. They are bearing on the shoulders of donkeys their estate, and on the humps of camels their treasures, to a people who are not benefiting them for help, but for shame and for reproach."

¹² Yet you must not stare in the day of your brother, in the day of his disaster. And you must not rejoice over the sons of Judah, in the day of their destruction. And you must not magnify your mouth, in the day of distress."

⁸ You must not rejoice against me, O my enemy. Though I fall, I shall rise. Though I am sitting in darkness, Yahweh shall be light for me."

¹¹ In that day you shall not be ashamed of all your practices, in which you transgressed against Me, for then will I take away from within you those who are joyous in your pride, and you shall not continue further to be haughty in My holy mountain."
