¹ In the year the Tartan came to Ashdod, when he was sent by Sargon, king of Assyria, then he is fighting against Ashdod and seizing it." ² In that era Yahweh speaks by the hand of Isaiah, son of Amoz, saying, "Go and unloose the sackcloth off your waist, and your sandals shall you pull off your feet.And he is doing so, to go naked and barefoot." ³ And saying is Yahweh, "As My servant Isaiah goes naked and barefoot, a three year sign and miracle representing Egypt and Ethiopia, ⁴ so shall the king of Assyria lead the captives of Egypt, and the deportation of Ethiopia, youths and elders, naked and barefoot, with bared buttock, the nakedness of Egypt." ⁵ And they are dismayed and ashamed because of Ethiopia, their trust, and because of Egypt, their beauty." ⁶ And the dwellers of this coastland say in that day, `Behold! Thus is our trust, where we fled for help, to be rescued from the face of the king of Assyria, and how shall we escape?'"

¹ And the Philistines have taken the ark of Elohim, and bring it in from Eben-Ezer to Ashdod,

¹⁷ And these [are] the golden emerods which the Philistines have sent back--a guilt-offering to Yahweh:for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;"

¹⁷ And the king of Asshur sends Tartan, and the chief of the eunuchs, and the chief of the butlers, from Lachish, unto king Hezekiah, with a heavy force, to Jerusalem, and they go up and come in to Jerusalem, and they go up, and come in and stand by the conduit of the upper pool that [is] in the highway of the fuller's field.

²⁰ And all the mixed people, And all the kings of the land of Uz, And all the kings of the land of the Philistines, And Ashkelon, and Gazzah, and Ekron, And the remnant of Ashdod,

²⁹ For lo, in the city over which My name is called, I am beginning to do evil, And you--you are entirely acquitted! You are not acquitted, for a sword I am proclaiming, For all inhabitants of the land, An affirmation of Yahweh of Hosts." ³⁰ And you, you do prophesy unto them all these words, and have said unto them:Yahweh from the high place does roar, And from His holy habitation gives forth His voice, He surely roars for His habitation, A shout as of treaders down, Elohim answers all the inhabitants of the land,

⁸ And I will cut off the dweller from Ashdod, and the upholder of the scepter from Ashkelon, and I will reverse My hand on Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, says my Lord Yahweh."

⁵ Then he said: Do not come near hither! Ease your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing, this is ground of holiness.

¹⁵ And the Prince of Yahweh's host said unto Joshua, `Cast off your shoe from off your foot, for the place on which you are standing is holy;' and Joshua does so;"

²⁴ and he strips off--he also--his garments, and prophesies--he also--before Samuel, and falls down naked all that day and all the night; therefore they say, `Is Saul also among the prophets?.

²⁰ And David turns back to bless his house, and Michal daughter of Saul goes out to meet David, and said, `How honorable to-day was the king of Israel, who was uncovered to-day before the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain ones is openly uncovered!.

⁸ And they say unto him, `A man--hairy, and a girdle of skin girt about his loins;' and he said, `He [is] Elijah the Tishbite..

²⁰ Then Job arose, tore his robe and sheared his head. He fell to the earth and worshiped. ²¹ And he said, Naked I came forth from the belly of my mother, and naked I shall return there. Yahweh, He gives, and Yahweh, He takes away. Blessed be the name of Yahweh.

¹ LOAD OF BABYLON which was perceived by Isaiah, the son of Amoz:"

¹ Thus said Yahweh unto me, `Go, and you have got for you a girdle of linen, and have placed it on your loins, and into water you do not cause it to enter:'" <sup>2</sup> and I get the girdle, according to the word of Yahweh, and I place [it] on my loins." <sup>3</sup> And there is a word of Yahweh unto me a second time, saying, <sup>4</sup> `Take the girdle that you have got, that [is] on your loins, and rise, go to Phrat, and hide it there in a hole of the rock;" ⁵ and I go and hide it by Phrat, as Yahweh commanded me." ⁶ And it comes to pass, at the end of many days, that Yahweh said unto me, `Rise, go to Phrat, and take thence the girdle, that I commanded you to hide there;'" <sup>7</sup> and I go to Phrat, and dig, and take the girdle from the place where I had hid it; and lo, the girdle has been marred, it is not profitable for anything." <sup>8</sup> And there is a word of Yahweh unto me, saying, `Thus said Yahweh:" ⁹ Thus do I mar the excellency of Judah, And the great excellency of Jerusalem." ¹⁰ This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, Who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, And go after other elohims to serve them, And to bow themselves to them, Yea it is--as this girdle, that is not profitable for anything." ¹¹ For, as the girdle cleaves unto the loins of a man, So I caused to cleave unto Me The whole house of Israel, And the whole house of Judah, an affirmation of Yahweh, To be to Me for a people, and for a name, And for praise, and for beauty, And they have not hearkened."

¹ Thus said Yahweh, `Go, and you have got a potter's earthen vessel, and of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests, <sup>2</sup> and you have gone forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, that [is] at the opening of the gate of the pottery, and have proclaimed there the words that I speak unto you, <sup>3</sup> and have said, Hear a word of Yahweh, you kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel:`Lo, I am bringing in evil on this place, at which the ears of every one who is hearing it do tingle, ⁴ because that they have forsaken Me, and make known this place, and make perfume in it to other elohims, that they knew not, they and their fathers, and the kings of Judah, and they have filled this place [with] innocent blood, ⁵ and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons with fire, burnt-offerings to Baal, that I commanded not, nor spoke of, nor did it come up on My heart." ⁶ `Therefore, lo, days are coming--an affirmation of Yahweh--and this place is not called any more, Tophet, and Valley of the son of Hinnom, but, Valley of slaughter." <sup>7</sup> And I have made void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and have caused them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those seeking their life, and I have given their carcase for food to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth, <sup>8</sup> and I have made this city for a desolation, and for a hissing, every passer by it is astonished, and does hiss for all its plagues." <sup>9</sup> And I have caused them to eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters, and each the flesh of his friend they do eat, in the siege and in the straitness with which straiten them do their enemies, and those seeking their life." <sup>10</sup> `And you have broken the bottle before the eyes of the men who are going with you, ¹¹ and have said unto them:Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Thus do I break this people and this city, as one breaks the potter's vessel, that is not able to be repaired again, and in Tophet they bury--without place to bury;" ¹² so I do to this place--an affirmation of Yahweh--and to its inhabitants, so as to make this city as Tophet;" ¹³ and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, have been--as the place of Tophet--defiled, even all the houses on whose roofs they have made perfume to all the host of the heavens, so as to pour out oblations to other elohims.'" ¹⁴ And Jeremiah comes in from Tophet, whither Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, and he stands in the court of the house of Yahweh, and he said unto all the people:" ¹⁵ `Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel:Lo, I am bringing in unto this city, and on all its cities, all the evil that I have spoken against it, for they have hardened their neck--not to hear My words!'"

⁵ And I--I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, the number of days, three hundred and ninety days; and you have borne the iniquity of the house of Israel."

¹⁷ Cease to groan, [for] the dead you do make no mourning, your bonnet bind on you, and your shoes you do put on your feet, and you do not cover over the upper lip, and bread of men you do not eat.'"

²³ And your bonnets [are] on your heads, And your shoes [are] on your feet, You do not mourn nor do you weep, And you have wasted away for your iniquities, And you have howled one unto another."

⁸ On this account will I wail and howl; I will go looted and naked. I will make a wailing as the jackals, and a mourning as the daughters of the ostrich;"

¹¹ Pass away! To you, dweller of Saphir, is naked shame! The dweller of Zaanan will not fare forth. The wailing of Beth-ezel will take from you its standpoint."

⁴ And it shall come to be in that day that the prophets shall be ashamed, each because of his vision, when he prophesies; and they shall not put on a fur robe of hair that they may dissimulate."

⁴ Now he, John, had his apparel of camel's hair and a leather girdle about his loins. Now his nourishment was locusts and wild honey.

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples: "If anyone is wanting to come after Me, let him renounce himself and pick up his cross and follow Me."

⁷ That disciple, then, whom Jesus loved, is saying to Peter, "It is the Lord!Simon Peter, then, hearing that it is the Lord, girds on his overcoat (for he was naked) and cast himself into the sea."

¹⁶ And leaping on them, the man in whom the wicked spirit was, getting the mastery of both, is too strong for them, so that, naked and wounded, they are escaping out of that house."

³ And I will be endowing My two witnesses and they will be prophesying a thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."

³⁴ By the number of the days in which you explored the land, forty days, a day for a year, a day for a year, shall you bear your depravities:forty years; thus you will realize My repudiation.

¹⁸ Behold! I and the boys whom Yahweh Elohim gives to me, are for signs and for miracles in the house of Israel, from Yahweh of hosts, the Tabernacler in mount Zion."

¹ Woe, Land of a craft with wings, which have a passage to the streams of Ethiopia, ² sending its agents by sea, and in papyrus vessels over the surface of the waters. "Go, fleet messengers, to a nation in suspense and trepidation, to a people fearful, from its boundary and beyond, a nation at the confluences of waters and eroding, from which the streams plunder its land." ³ All dwellers of the habitance, and tabernaclers of the earth:As the lifting of a banner on the mountains, you shall see, and as the blowing of a trumpet, you shall hear." ⁴ For thus says Yahweh to me, "I will be quiet, and I will look in My site. As a glossy warmth over the light, as a dense haze of night mist in the day of harvest." ⁵ For before the harvest, as the bud is spent, and the unripe grape is weaning, the flower is coming. Then he cuts off the shoots with pruners, and the abandoned twigs he takes away when he lops." ⁶ They will be forsaken together to the bird of prey of the mountains, and to the beast of the earth. And summer on them will the bird of prey, and every beast of the earth will winter on them." ⁷ In that era, an indemnity shall be fetched to Yahweh of hosts from the people in suspense and trepidation, and from a people fearful, from its boundary and beyond, a nation at the confluences of waters and eroding, from which the streams plunder its land, to the place of the Name of Yahweh of hosts, called mount Zion."

⁹ And hearing is the king of Assyria concerning Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, saying, "He fares forth to fight you.When hearing this, he returns, and is sending messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

³ For I, Yahweh, am your Elohim, The Holy One of Israel, your Redeemer. And I give Egypt for your shelter; Ethiopia and Seba in your stead."

⁵ And I--I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, the number of days, three hundred and ninety days; and you have borne the iniquity of the house of Israel." ⁶ And you have completed these, and have lain on your right side, a second time, and have borne the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days--a day for a year--a day for a year I have appointed to you."

² And the court outside of the temple cast outside, and you should not be measuring it, for it was given to the nations, and the holy city will they be treading forty-two months." ³ And I will be endowing My two witnesses and they will be prophesying a thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."

⁴ And Hanun takes the servants of David, and shaves off the half of their beard, and cuts off their long robes in the midst--unto their buttocks, and sends them away;"

¹⁷ So my Lord Yahweh will abase the scalp of the daughters of Zion, and Yahweh their enticement will make naked in that day."

⁴ And I hold the Egyptians in check by the hand of obstinate lords, and a strong king shall rule among them,averring is the Lord, Yahweh of hosts."

³ Exposed shall be your nakedness! Moreover, apparent shall be your reproach! I will take vengeance on you,

²² And when you do say in your heart, `Wherefore have these met me?' For the abundance of your iniquity Have your skirts been uncovered, Have your heels suffered violence."

²⁶ I also have made bare your skirts before your face, And your shame has been seen."

²⁶ And I have given them into the hand of those seeking their life, And into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of his servants, And afterwards it is inhabited, As [in] days of old--an affirmation of Yahweh."

¹⁸ And in Tehaphnehes has the day been dark, In My breaking there the yokes of Egypt, And ceased in her has the excellency of her strength, She--a cloud does cover her, And her daughters into captivity do go."

¹⁸ I am advising you to buy of Me gold refined by the fire, that you should be rich, and white garments, that you may be clothed and the shame of your nakedness may not be made manifest, and eye-salve to anoint your eyes, that you may be observing."

²¹ `Now, lo, you have trusted for you on the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; which a man leans on, and it has gone into his hand, and pierced it! --so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all those trusting on him.

²² Leave you off from the human, whose breath is in his nostrils! For what account is he?

³ Yet become, for you, shall the stronghold of Pharaoh for shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt for confounding."

⁵ All are ashamed of a people who are not benefiting them, not for help, and not for benefit, for they are for shame, and even for reproach."

⁷ And Egypt in vain and for naught is helping you. Wherefore I call as to this, "Their audacity shall cease!"

⁶ Behold! You trust on a staff, this bruised reed, on Egypt, which, when a man is supported by it, then it enters into his palm and pierces it. So is Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to all those trusting in him."

²³ Thus said Yahweh:Let not the wise boast himself in his wisdom, Nor let the mighty boast himself in his might, Let not the rich boast himself in his riches, ²⁴ But--in this let the boaster boast himself, In understanding and knowing Me, For I [am] Yahweh, doing kindness, Judgment, and righteousness, in the earth, For in these I have delighted, An affirmation of Yahweh."

⁵ Thus said Yahweh:Cursed [is] the man who does trust in man, And has made flesh his arm, And from Yahweh whose heart turns."

⁶ And known have all inhabitants of Egypt That I [am] Yahweh, Because of their being a staff of reed to the house of Israel." ⁷ In their taking hold of you by your hand, --you are crushed, And have rent to them all the shoulder, And in their leaning on you you are broken, And have caused all their thighs to stand."

²¹ So that, let no one be boasting in men, for all is yours,

²⁰ But they are ashamed that each one trusted the place; They come to it, and they are abashed.

³⁰ He shall give escape to the innocent man, And you shall escape by the purity of your palms.

³ Yet what will you do in the day of visitation, and in the tumult which shall come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and whither will you leave your glory?

¹⁷ And I constitute judgment for the tape, and righteousness for the plummet, and the hail will shovel away the refuge of the lie, and the concealment the waters will overflow."

¹ Woe, stubborn sons!averring is Yahweh, "To make counsel, yet not from Me, and to libate a libation, yet not of My spirit, that they may add sin on sin!" ² Going down to Egypt, yet they do not ask at My mouth, to be strong in the stronghold of Pharaoh, and to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt!" ³ Yet become, for you, shall the stronghold of Pharaoh for shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt for confounding." ⁴ For his chiefs come to be in Zoan, and his messengers are attaining Hanes." ⁵ All are ashamed of a people who are not benefiting them, not for help, and not for benefit, for they are for shame, and even for reproach." ⁶ The load of the beasts of the south rim; in a land of distress and aridity and constraint, the parent lion and the long maned lion are there, yet no water. The puff adder and the burning serpent are making flight. They are bearing on the shoulders of donkeys their estate, and on the humps of camels their treasures, to a people who are not benefiting them for help, but for shame and for reproach." ⁷ And Egypt in vain and for naught is helping you. Wherefore I call as to this, "Their audacity shall cease!"

¹⁵ For thus says my Lord Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel:"By returning and resting shall you be saved. In quietness and in trust shall come your mastery. Yet you are not willing to hear." ¹⁶ And saying are you, `No. For on horses will we flee,' therefore you shall flee. And `On the fleet will we ride.' Therefore fleet shall be your pursuers."

¹ Woe to those going down to Egypt for help! On horses are they leaning, and trusting in chariots, for they are many, and on horsemen, for they are very staunch. And they do not heed the Holy One of Israel, and of Yahweh Elohim they do not inquire." ² Yet, moreover, He is wise, and will bring evil, and His words He does not take away, and He rises against the house of the evil doers, and against the help of the contrivers of lawlessness." ³ Yet Egyptians are human and not the El, and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When Yahweh is stretching out His hand, then the helper falters; and he who is helped falls. And, together, all of them will be finished."

¹⁵ What! --you cry concerning your breach! Incurable [is] your pain, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, Mighty have been your sins! I have done these to you." ¹⁶ Therefore all consuming you are consumed, And all your adversaries--all of them--Into captivity do go, And your spoilers have been for a spoil, And all your plunderers I give up to plunder." ¹⁷ For I increase health to you, And from your strokes I do heal you, An affirmation of Yahweh, For `Outcast' they have called to you, `Zion it [is], there is none seeking for her.'"

⁴ Because of the day that has come to spoil all the Philistines, To cut off to Tyre and to Zidon every helping remnant. For Yahweh is spoiling the Philistines, The remnant of the isle of Caphtor."

³³ Serpents! Progeny of vipers! How may you be fleeing from the judging of Gehenna?

³ Now whenever they may be saying "Peace and security,then extermination is standing by them unawares, even as a pang over the pregnant, and they may by no means escape."

³ how shall we be escaping when neglecting a salvation of such proportions which, obtaining a beginning through the speaking of the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who hear Him,
