¹ And Yahweh said unto me:Though Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My soul is not toward this people, Send from before My face, and they go out." ² And it has come to pass, when they say to you, Whither do we go out? that you have said unto them, Thus said Yahweh:Those who [are] for death--to death, And those who are for the sword, to the sword, And those who are for famine, to famine, And those who are for captivity, to captivity." ³ And I have appointed over them four kinds, an affirmation of Yahweh, The sword to slay, and the dogs to drag, And the fowl of the heavens, And the beast of the earth, to consume and to devour." ⁴ And I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem." ⁵ For who has pity on you, O Jerusalem? And who does bemoan for you? And who turns aside to ask of your welfare? ⁶ You--you have left Me--an affirmation of Yahweh, Backward you go, And I stretch out My hand against you, And I destroy you, I have been weary of repenting, ⁷ And I scatter them with a fan, in the gates the land, I bereaved, I have destroyed My people, From their ways they turned not back." ⁸ Its widows have been more to Me than the sand of the seas, I brought in to them--against the mother--A young man--a spoiler--at noon. I caused to fall upon her suddenly, wrath and trouble." ⁹ Languished has the bearer of seven, She has breathed out her spirit, Gone in has her sun while yet day, It has been ashamed and confounded, And their residue to the sword I give up before their enemies, An affirmation of Yahweh." ¹⁰ Woe to me, my mother, For you have borne me a man of strife, And a man of contention to all the land, I have not lent on usury, Nor have they lent on usury to me--All of them are reviling me." ¹¹ Yahweh said, Did I not direct you for good? Did not I intercede for you in a time of evil, And in a time of adversity, with the enemy? ¹² Does one break iron--northern iron, and brass? ¹³ Your strength and your treasures For a prey I do give--not for price, Even for all your sins, and in all your borders." ¹⁴ And I have caused your enemies To pass over into the land--You have not known, For a fire has been kindled in Mine anger, Against you it does burn." ¹⁵ You, You have known, O Yahweh, Remember me, and inspect me, And take vengeance for me of my pursuers, In Your long-suffering take me not away, Know--I have borne for You reproach." ¹⁶ Your words have been found, and I eat them, And Your word is to me for a joy, And for the rejoicing of my heart, For Your name is called on me, O Yahweh, Elohim of Hosts." ¹⁷ I have not sat in an assembly of deriders, Nor do I exult, because of your hand, --Alone I have sat, For [with] indignation You have filled me." ¹⁸ Why has my pain been perpetual? And my wound incurable? It has refused to be healed, You are surely to me as a failing stream, Waters not stedfast." ¹⁹ Therefore, thus said Yahweh:If you turn back, then I bring you back, Before Me you do stand, And if you bring out the precious from the vile, As My mouth you are! They--they turn back unto you, And you do not turn back unto them." ²⁰ And I have made you to this people For a wall--brazen--fenced, And they have fought against you, And they do not prevail against you, For with you [am] I to save you, And to deliver you--an affirmation of Yahweh, ²¹ And I have delivered you from the hand of evil doers, And I have ransomed you From the hand of the terrible!"

²⁷ And early is Abraham rising in the morning to go to the place where he had stood before the face of Yahweh.

¹¹ Then Moses beseeched the face of Yahweh his Elohim and said: Why, Yahweh, has Your anger grown hot against Your people whom You have brought forth from the land of Egypt with great vigor and with a steadfast hand? ¹² Why should the Egyptians speak, saying: For evil He brings them forth to kill them in the mountains and to finish them off the surface of the ground? Turn back from the heat of Your anger and show mercy concerning the evil to Your people. ¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac and Israel, Your servants to whom You swore by Yourself. You spoke to them, saying: I shall increase your seed as the stars of the heavens, and all this land, as I have said, I shall give it to your seed, and they will gain it as an allotment for the eon. ¹⁴ So Yahweh showed mercy concerning the evil which He spoke of doing to His people.

¹³ Yet Moses said to Yahweh:The Egyptians have heard that You brought up this people by Your vigor, from among them;" ¹⁴ and they have spoken to the dwellers of this land; they have heard that You, Yahweh, are among this people, that You are being seen eye to eye, Yahweh, and Your cloud is standing over them, and in a column of cloud You are going before them by day and in a column of fire by night. ¹⁵ If You put this people to death as one man, then the nations who heard the report of You will say, saying. ¹⁶ Because Yahweh was unable to bring this people to the land about which He had sworn to them, He slew them in the wilderness. ¹⁷ So now let, I pray, the vigor of Yahweh be great just as You have spoken, saying. ¹⁸ Yahweh, slow to anger and with much kindness and truth, bearing with depravity and transgression and sin, yet He is not immediately making innocent in order to make innocent, but is visiting the depravity of the fathers on the sons, on the third and on the fourth generation. ¹⁹ Pardon, I pray, the depravity of this people according to the greatness of Your kindness just as You bore with this people from Egypt and hitherto. ²⁰ Yahweh said:I have pardoned them according to your word.

⁹ My heart [is] to the lawgivers of Israel, Who are offering themselves willingly among the people, Bless you Yahweh!"

⁹ And Samuel takes a fat lamb, and causes it to go up--a burnt-offering whole to Yahweh; and Samuel cries unto Yahweh for Israel, and Yahweh answers him;"

²³ `I, also, far be it from me to sin against Yahweh, by ceasing to pray for you, and I have directed you in the good and upright way;"

²⁰ And Yahweh kicks against all the seed of Israel, and afflicts them, and gives them into the hand of spoilers, till that He has cast them out of His presence,

⁶ Moses and Aaron were among His priests, And Samuel among those calling on His Name; They were calling on Yahweh, and He Himself answered them."

²³ He said that He would exterminate them, Except that Moses, His chosen one, Stood in the breach before Him, To turn back His fury from bringing ruin on them."

³⁵ A king's benevolence is for an intelligent servant, Yet his rage is bestowed on the one causing shame."

¹⁵ And I have cast you from before My face, As I have cast out all your brethren, The whole seed of Ephraim." ¹⁶ And you do not pray for this people, Nor lift up for them crying and prayer, Nor intercede with Me, for I hear you not."

¹⁴ And you, you do not pray for this people, Nor do you lift up for them cry and prayer, For I do not hearken in the time of their calling unto Me for their vexation."

¹¹ And Yahweh said unto me:You do not pray for this people for good,

¹⁹ Therefore, thus said Yahweh:If you turn back, then I bring you back, Before Me you do stand, And if you bring out the precious from the vile, As My mouth you are! They--they turn back unto you, And you do not turn back unto them."

²⁰ Is evil recompensed instead of good, That they have dug a pit for my soul? Remember my standing before You to speak good of them, To turn back Your wrath from them."

³⁹ Therefore, lo, I--I have taken you utterly away, And I have sent you out, And the city that I gave to you, And to your fathers, from before My face,

¹⁹ therefore, thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, Of Jonadab son of Rechab one standing before me is not cut off all the days.'"

³ for, because of the anger of Yahweh, it has been in Jerusalem and Judah till He has cast them from before His face, and Zedekiah does rebel against the king of Babylon."

¹⁴ and these three men have been in its midst, Noah, Daniel, and Job--they by their righteousness deliver their own soul--an affirmation of the Lord Yahweh."

²⁰ and Noah, Daniel, and Job, in its midst:I live--an affirmation of the Lord Yahweh--neither son nor daughter do they deliver; they, by their righteousness, deliver their own soul." ²¹ `For thus said the Lord Yahweh:Although My four sore judgments--sword, and famine, and wild beast, and pestilence--I have sent unto Jerusalem, to cut off from it man and beast,

³ Yet Joshua comes to be clothed in filthy garments, and is standing before the messenger."

²⁴ For Christ entered not into holy places made by hands, representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to be disclosed to the face of God for our sakes."

¹⁸ And it comes that the one fleeing from the awful sound shall fall into the pit. And the ascender from the midst of the pit shall be seized in a snare. For the crevices of the heights are opened, and the foundations of the earth shall quake."

¹² When they fast, I hearken not unto their cry, And when they cause to ascend burnt-offering and present, I accept them not, For by sword, and by famine, And by pestilence, I am consuming them."

⁹ And I have given them for a trembling, For evil--to all kingdoms of the earth, For a reproach, and for a simile, For a byword, and for a reviling, In all the places whither I drive them." ¹⁰ And I have sent against them the sword, The famine and the pestilence, Till their consumption from off the ground, That I gave to them and to their fathers!"

¹¹ and he has come, and smitten the land of Egypt--those who [are] for death to death, and those who [are] for captivity to captivity, and those who [are] for the sword to the sword."

² A third part with fire you do burn in the midst of the city, at the fulness of the days of the siege; and you have taken the third part, you do smite with a weapon round about it; and the third part you do scatter to the wind, and a weapon I draw out after them."

¹² Your third part--by pestilence they die, And by famine are consumed in your midst, And the third part, by sword they fall round about you, And the third part, to every wind I scatter, And a sword I draw out after them."

²¹ `For thus said the Lord Yahweh:Although My four sore judgments--sword, and famine, and wild beast, and pestilence--I have sent unto Jerusalem, to cut off from it man and beast,

¹² Hence He is setting up His words, which He speaks concerning us and concerning our judges who judge us, to bring on us this great evil which is not done under the entire heavens as it is done in Jerusalem."

¹⁹ just as a man is fleeing from the face of the lion, and the bear comes on him, and he enters the house and supports his hand on the sidewall, and the serpent bites him."

⁹ Then I am saying, I will not graze you. The dying will die; and the suppressed will be suppressed; and the remainder will eat, each woman, of the flesh of her mate."

³ And when It opens the second seal, I hear the second animal saying, "Come!" ⁴ And forth came another horse, fiery-red, and to him who is sitting on it was given to take peace out of the earth, and that they should be slaying one another. And a huge sword was given to him." ⁵ And when It opens the third seal, I hear the third animal saying, "Come!And I perceived and lo! a black horse, and he who is sitting on it has a pair of balances in his hand." ⁶ And I hear as it were a voice in the midst of the four animals saying, "A choenix of wheat a denarius, and three choenix of barley a denarius, and the oil and the wine you should not be injuring!" ⁷ And when It opens the fourth seal, I hear the voice of the fourth animal saying, "Come!" ⁸ And I perceived, and lo! a greenish horse, and the name of him who is sitting upon it is Death, and the Unseen followed him. And jurisdiction was given them over the fourth of the earth, to kill with the blade and with famine and with death and by the wild beasts of the earth."

¹⁰ If anyone is for captivity, into captivity he is going. If anyone will be killing with the sword, he must with the sword be killed. Here is the endurance and faith of the saints."

¹⁶ indeed, I Myself shall do this to you:I will visit panic upon you, attenuation and fever, making the eyesight vanish and causing the soul to pine; and you will sow your seed for naught, for your enemies will eat it.

²² I will send the animal of the field against you, and it will bereave you, cut off your domestic beasts and so decrease you that your roads will be desolated.

²⁵ I will bring the sword on you avenging the vengeance of the covenant. When you will be gathered into your cities then I will send the plague into your midst, and you will be given into the hand of the enemy.

²⁶ Your carcass will become food for every flyer of the heavens and for the beast of the earth, and there will be no one causing them to tremble.

²³ `And also of Jezebel has Yahweh spoken, saying, The dogs do eat Jezebel in the bulwark of Jezreel;" ²⁴ him who dies of Ahab in a city do the dogs eat, and him who dies in a field do fowl of the heavens eat;"

³⁵ And they go to bury her, and have not found of her except the skull, and the feet, and the palms of the hands. ³⁶ And they turn back, and declare to him, and he said, `The word of Yahweh it [is], that He spoke by the hand of this servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel do the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel, ³⁷ and the carcase of Jezebel has been as dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, that they say not, This [is] Jezebel..

⁶ They will be forsaken together to the bird of prey of the mountains, and to the beast of the earth. And summer on them will the bird of prey, and every beast of the earth will winter on them."

⁹ All field life, arrive to devour! And all the life in the wildwood!" ¹⁰ His watchmen are blind, all of them. They do not know to call. All of them are mute curs. They can not bark. They are having nightmares while lying, loving to slumber,

³³ And the carcase of this people has been for food To a fowl of the heavens, and to a beast of the earth, And there is none troubling."

⁸ And I perceived, and lo! a greenish horse, and the name of him who is sitting upon it is Death, and the Unseen followed him. And jurisdiction was given them over the fourth of the earth, to kill with the blade and with famine and with death and by the wild beasts of the earth."

¹⁷ And I perceived another messenger, standing in the sun. And he cries with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which are flying in mid-heaven, "Hither! Be gathered for the great dinner of God, ¹⁸ that you may be eating the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of the strong, and the flesh of horses and of those sitting on them, and the flesh of all freemen as well as slaves, and of small and of great."

³³ And you I shall winnow among the nations, and I will unsheathe a sword after you so that your land will become a desolation and your cities become a desert.

²⁵ Yahweh shall make you to be struck down before your enemies. By a single road shall you go forth to them, and by seven roads shall you flee before them. So you will become an object of commotion to all the kingdoms of the earth.

⁶⁴ And Yahweh will scatter you among all the peoples from one end of the earth unto the other end of the earth. There you will serve other elohim, those of wood and stone which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers.

² and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, according to the abominations of the nations that Yahweh dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel,

¹¹ `Because that Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations--he has done evil above all that the Amorites have done who [are] before him, and causes also Judah to sin by his idols;" ¹² therefore thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, Lo, I am bringing in evil on Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, tingle do his two ears. ¹³ And I have stretched out over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab, and wiped Jerusalem as one wipes the dish--he has wiped, and has turned [it] on its face.

¹⁶ And also, innocent blood has Manasseh shed very much, till that he has filled Jerusalem--mouth to mouth; apart from his sin that he has caused Judah to sin, to do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh. ¹⁷ And the rest of the matters of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

²⁶ Only, Yahweh has not turned back from the fierceness of His great anger with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh provoked him, ²⁷ and Yahweh said, `Also Judah I turn aside from my presence, as I turned Israel aside, and I have rejected this city that I have chosen--Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name is there..

³ only, by the command of Yahweh it has been against Judah to turn [them] aside from His presence, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did, ⁴ and also the innocent blood that he has shed, and he fills Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Yahweh was not willing to forgive.

¹⁶ And I have scattered them among nations Which they knew not, they and their fathers, And have sent after them the sword, Till I have consumed them."

⁹ And I have given them for a trembling, For evil--to all kingdoms of the earth, For a reproach, and for a simile, For a byword, and for a reviling, In all the places whither I drive them."

¹⁸ And I have pursued after them with sword, with famine, and with pestilence, and have given them for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth, for a curse and for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for a reproach among all the nations whither I have driven them,

¹⁷ `Therefore, thus said Yahweh:You have not hearkened unto Me to proclaim freedom, each to his brother, and each to his neighbor; lo, I am proclaiming to you liberty--an affirmation of Yahweh--unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, and I have given you for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth."

⁸ A sin has Jerusalem sinned; therefore she has become an isolated woman; All who glorified her count her abject, for they have seen her nakedness; Indeed she herself sighs and turns away back."

⁴⁶ For thus said the Lord Yahweh:Bring up against them an assembly, And give them to trembling and to spoiling."

⁷ Then Moses went forth to meet his father-in-law; and he bowed himself down and kissed him. After they had asked, each man of his associate, concerning his welfare, then they came to the tent,

¹⁵ And they turn aside thither, and come in unto the house of the young man the Levite, the house of Micah, and ask of him of welfare, -.

⁴ and they have asked of you of welfare, and given to you two loaves, and you have received from their hand.

²² And David lets down the goods from off him on the hand of a keeper of the goods, and runs into the rank, and comes and asks of his brethren of welfare.

⁵ and David sends ten young men, and David said to the young men, `Go you up to Carmel, and you have come in unto Nabal, and asked of him in my name of welfare,

²¹ Be gracious to me! be gracious to me, you, my associates! For the hand of Eloah has touched me.

²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart, and I do feel my mortality; I expect one to sympathize, and there is none, And look for comforters, yet I find not one."

¹⁹ Two things, they are meeting you. Who will condole with you? The devastation and the breaking and the famine and the sword--who will comfort you?

¹⁴ And have dashed them one against another, And the fathers and the sons together, An affirmation of Yahweh, I do not pity, nor spare, nor have I mercy, So as not to destroy them."

⁵ For thus said Yahweh:Do not enter the house of a mourning-feast, Nor go to lament nor bemoan for them, For I have removed My peace from this people, An affirmation of Yahweh, The kindness and the mercies."

⁷ And after this--an affirmation of Yahweh, I give Zedekiah king of Judah, And his servants, and the people, And those left in this city, From the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, Into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of their enemies, And into the hand of those seeking their life, And he has smitten them by the mouth of the sword, He has no pity on them, Nor does he spare, nor has he mercy."

¹² Is it nothing to you, all who pass along the way? Look about and see if there is any pain like my pain which is brought on me, With which Yahweh afflicts in the day of His hot anger." ¹³ From on high He sends fire; into my bones He makes it descend; He spreads a net for my feet; He turns me back; He makes me desolate, languishing all the day." ¹⁴ The yoke of my transgressions is bound on; In His hand they intertwine themselves; They ascend upon my neck; it has caused my vigor to falter. Yahweh has given me over into the hands of those I cannot rise against. ¹⁵ Yahweh has cast aside all my sturdy ones in my midst; He has called an appointed assembly against me to break apart my choice young men; Yahweh has trodden the winetrough of the virgin daughter of Judah. ¹⁶ Over these I am lamenting; my eye, my eye runs down with water; For far from me is any comforter, any restorer of my soul; My sons are desolate, for the enemy has mastery."

¹⁵ They slap their palms at you, all who pass your way; They hiss and jerk their head to and fro at the daughter of Jerusalem:Is this the city which they call the consummation of loveliness, the elation of the entire earth? ¹⁶ They open their mouth wide at you, all your enemies; They hiss and gnash their teeth; they say, We have swallowed them up! Yea, this is the day that we expected; we have come upon it and have seen it!"

⁷ And it shall come to be that all seeing you will flit from you and say, Devastated is Nineveh! Who will condole with her? Whence shall I seek comforters for you?

³⁸ Yet He was compassionate; He made a propitiatory shelter for depravity, And He did not bring ruin; He acted many times to reverse His anger, And He would not rouse all His fury." ³⁹ He ever remembered that they were flesh, A wind going that is not returning." ⁴⁰ How often they defied Him in the wilderness; They grieved Him in the desolation.

⁴ Woe, nation of sin! People heavy with depravity! Seed of evil doers! Sons of ruiners! They forsake Yahweh. They spurn the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged, going back."

¹³ when the word of Yahweh Elohim comes to them. Instruction is added to instruction, instruction to instruction, expectation to expectation, expectation to expectation, a bit there, a bit there, that they may go and stumble back, and be broken, and be trapped, and be seized."

¹⁶ And I have spoken My judgments with them concerning all their evil, in that they have forsaken Me, and make perfume to other elohims, and bow themselves to the works of their own hands."

¹³ For two evils has My people done, Me they have forsaken, a fountain of living waters, To hew out for themselves wells--broken wells, That contain not the waters."

¹⁷ Do you not do this to yourself? [By] your forsaking Yahweh your Elohim, At the time He is leading you in the way?

¹⁹ Instruct you does your wickedness, And your backslidings reprove you, Know and see that an evil and a bitter thing [Is] your forsaking Yahweh your Elohim, And My fear not being on you, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh of Hosts."

¹¹ And with the fury of Yahweh I have been filled, (I have been weary of containing,) To pour [it] on the suckling in the street, And on the assembly of youths together, For even husband with wife are captured, An elder with one full of days,

¹⁹ Hear, O earth, lo, I am bringing evil on this people, The fruit of their devices, For to My words they gave no attention, And My law--they kick against it."

²⁴ And they have not hearkened, nor inclined their ear, And they walk in the counsels, In the stubbornness, of their evil heart, And are for backward, and not for forward."

⁵ Wherefore has this people of Jerusalem Turned back--a perpetual backsliding? They have kept hold on deceit, They have refused to turn back."

⁹ And I said, `I do not mention Him, Nor do I speak any more in His name,' And it has been in my heart As a burning fire shut up in my bones, And I have been weary of containing, And I am not able."

²⁶ And there is a word of Yahweh unto me, saying:" ²⁷ `Son of man, lo, the house of Israel are saying, The vision that he is seeing [is] for many days, and of times far off he is prophesying, ²⁸ therefore say unto them:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:None of my words are prolonged any more, When I speak a word--it is done, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh!'"

⁹ `And the prophet, when he is enticed, and has spoken a word--I, Yahweh, I have enticed that prophet, and have stretched out My hand against him, and have destroyed him from the midst of My people Israel."

⁷ Therefore, lo, I--I have stretched out My hand against you, And have given you for a portion to nations, And I have cut you off from the peoples, And caused you to perish from the lands; I destroy you, and you have known that I [am] Yahweh."

¹⁶ For as a young cow is stubborn, so is Israel stubborn, now will Yahweh graze them as a he-lamb in a wide place."

⁷ My people are hung on backsliding from Me; though they are proclaiming Him as the Supreme, not one is exalting Him."

¹⁴ From the hand of the unseen will I ransom them; from death will I redeem them. Where is your plague, O Death? Where is your sting, O Unseen? Regret shall be concealed from My eyes."

³ Yahweh regrets over this. It shall not come to be, says Yahweh." ⁴ Thus my Lord Yahweh shows me:And behold! my Lord Yahweh is calling to contend by fire. And it is devouring the vast submerged chaos, and it devours the portion of Yahweh." ⁵ And I am saying, My Lord Yahweh, forbear, pray; who shall raise Jacob, for he is small? ⁶ Yahweh regrets over this. Moreover, it shall not come to be, says my Lord Yahweh." ⁷ Thus Yahweh shows me:And, behold! my Lord is stationed on a plumb-lined wall. And in His hand is a plumbline." ⁸ And Yahweh is saying to me, What are you seeing Amos? And I am saying, A plumbline. And my Lord is saying to me, Behold Me placing a plumbline within My people Israel; I will not continue to pass by them any longer."

⁴ I stretch out My hand over Judah, and over all dwellers of Jerusalem. And I cut off the name of Baal from this place, and the name of the dervishes with the priests,

¹¹ Yet they are refusing to attend, and they are giving a stubborn shoulder, and their ears they make heavy against hearing,

¹⁸ Cursed be the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beast, the calving of your domestic animals and the lambing of your flock.

³² Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall be staring and wasting away for them all the day, yet there will be nothing at the disposal of your hand.

⁴¹ You shall generate sons and daughters, yet they shall not become yours, for they shall go into captivity.

⁵³ Then you will eat the fruit of your own belly, the flesh of your sons and your daughters whom Yahweh your Elohim will have given to you, in the siege and in the constraint with which your enemy shall constrain you. ⁵⁴ The tender-hearted man among you and the one very fastidious, his eye shall be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward the rest of his sons whom he shall have left, ⁵⁵ so as to keep from giving to one of them the flesh of his sons that he is eating because nothing at all remains for him in the siege and in the constraint with which your enemy shall constrain you in all your gates. ⁵⁶ The tender-hearted woman among you, and the fastidious one, who would not try to put the sole of her foot on the earth because of fastidiousness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter,

⁴ Not so the wicked, But rather they are like the trash that the wind whisks away.

¹³ Yet the people do not return unto their Smiter, and of Yahweh of hosts they do not inquire."

¹⁶ You will winnow them, and the wind will carry them away. And the tempest will scatter them. And you shall exult in Yahweh. And in the Holy One of Israel shall you boast."

¹¹ At that time it is said of this people, And of Jerusalem:`A dry wind of high places in the wilderness,' The way of the daughter of My people, (Not for winnowing, nor for cleansing,)" ¹² A full wind from these does come for Me, Now, also, I speak judgments with them."

³ Yahweh, Your eyes, are they not on stedfastness? You have smitten them, and they have not grieved, You have consumed them, They have refused to receive instruction, They made their faces harder than a rock, They have refused to turn back."

⁴ And you have said unto them:Thus said Yahweh, Do they fall, and not rise? Does he turn back, and not return? ⁵ Wherefore has this people of Jerusalem Turned back--a perpetual backsliding? They have kept hold on deceit, They have refused to turn back."

²¹ For death has come up into our windows, It has come into our palaces, To cut off the suckling from without, Young men from the broad places."

²¹ Therefore, give up their sons to famine, And cause them to run on the sides of the sword, And their wives are bereaved and widows, And their men are slain by death, Their young men smitten by sword in battle,

² And I have sent to Babylon fanners, And they have fanned it, and they empty its land, For they have been against it, Round about--in the day of evil."

²¹ Say to the house of Israel:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I am polluting My sanctuary, The excellency of your strength, The desire of your eyes, and the pitied of your soul, And your sons and your daughters whom you have left, by sword they do fall."

²⁵ And you, son of man, Is it not in the day of My taking from them their strength, The joy of their beauty, the desire of their eyes, And the song of their soul, Their sons and their daughters?

¹² For, if they are bringing up their sons, then will I bereave them of a human, for, moreover, woe to them when My control is away from them!" ¹³ Ephraim, just as I see as to Tyre, is transplanted into a homestead, yet Ephraim shall bring forth his sons to the killer." ¹⁴ Give to them, Yahweh! What wilt You give? Give to them a bereaving womb and shrivelling breasts." ¹⁵ All their evil is in Gilgal, for there I hated them. On account of the evil of their actions, from My house will I drive them out. I will continue to love them. All their chiefs are stubborn." ¹⁶ Smitten is Ephraim. Their root is dry; fruit shall they fail to yield. Moreover, in case they shall generate, then I will put to death the coveted ones of their belly." ¹⁷ My Elohim will reject them, for they did not hearken to Him. And they shall become wanderers among the nations."

¹⁰ I send among you a plague in the way as in Egypt. I kill your chosen men by the sword, with the captivity of your horses, and I am making the stink of your camp ascend even in your nose. Yet you do not return unto Me, (averring is Yahweh)." ¹¹ I overturn among you as Elohim overturned Sodom and Gomorrah, and you are becoming as a wooden poker rescued from the burning. Yet you do not return unto Me, (averring is Yahweh)." ¹² Wherefore, thus will I do to you, Israel! Inasmuch that this I will do to you, prepare to meet your Elohim, O Israel!"

⁴ You must not become as your forefathers, to whom the former prophets called saying, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Return, I pray, from your evil ways, and from your evil actions. Yet they hearkened not, and they attended not to Me, (averring is Yahweh)."

¹² Whose winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will be scouring His threshing floor, and will be gathering His grain into His barn, yet the chaff will He be burning up with unextinguished fire."

²⁵ Your shameful death-doomed by the sword shall fall, and your masters in the war."

¹⁶ Make you mention to the nations, Lo, sound you to Jerusalem:`Besiegers are coming from the land afar off, And they give forth against cities of Judah their voice."

⁶ Therefore smitten them has a lion out of the forest, A wolf of the deserts does spoil them, A leopard is watching over their cities, Every one who is going out of them is torn, For many have been their transgressions, Mighty have been their backslidings."

⁴ Sanctify you against her the battle, Rise, and we go up at noon. Woe to us, for turned has the day, For stretched out are the shades of evening, ⁵ `Rise, and we go up by night, And we destroy her palaces.'"

³⁵ as a trap, for it will intrude on all those sitting on the surface of the entire earth."

⁵ The satiated for bread hired themselves, And the hungry have ceased. While the barren has borne seven, And she abounding with sons has languished.

⁹ Yet now these two shall come to you in a moment; in one day, bereavement and widowhood, suddenly they shall come on you in your many enchantments, in the staunchness of your magic charms, exceedingly."

² And it has come to pass, when they say to you, Whither do we go out? that you have said unto them, Thus said Yahweh:Those who [are] for death--to death, And those who are for the sword, to the sword, And those who are for famine, to famine, And those who are for captivity, to captivity." ³ And I have appointed over them four kinds, an affirmation of Yahweh, The sword to slay, and the dogs to drag, And the fowl of the heavens, And the beast of the earth, to consume and to devour."

²⁷ Lo, I am watching over them for evil, and not for good, and consumed have been all the men of Judah who [are] in the land of Egypt, by sword and by famine, till their consumption."

¹ How solitary sits the city once of many people! She has become like a widow who was great among nations; The chief princess among the provinces, she has become a payer of tribute."

¹⁰ The hands of compassionate women cook their own children; They become a repast for them in the brokenness of the daughter of my people.

⁹ And it comes in that day (averring is my Lord Yahweh) that I will bring in the sun at noon, and I will darken the land in daylight;" ¹⁰ and I will turn your celebrations to mourning, and all your songs to a dirge. And I will bring up sackcloth on all waists, and on every head baldness, and I will make it as the mourning for an only child, and the last of it as a day that is bitter."

²⁵ If you obligate My people, the humble with you, with silver, you shall not be as a moneylender to him; you shall not impose interest on him.

³⁶ Do not take advance interest or accrued interest from him. You will fear your Elohim, so that your brother be alive beside you.

¹⁹ You shall not charge interest to your brother:interest on silver, interest on food, interest on anything else that might earn interest. ²⁰ To a foreigner you may charge interest, but to your brother you shall not charge interest, so that Yahweh your Elohim may bless you in every undertaking of your hand in the land where you are coming to tenant it.

¹⁷ and it comes to pass at Ahab's seeing Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, `Are you he--the troubler of Israel?. <sup>18</sup> And he said, `I have not troubled Israel, but you and the house of your father, in your forsaking the commands of Yahweh, and you go after the Baalim;"

²⁰ And Ahab said unto Elijah, `Have you found me, O mine enemy?' and he said, `I have found--because of your selling yourself to do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh;"

⁸ And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, `Yet--one man to seek Yahweh by him, and I have hated him, for he does not prophesy concerning me good, but evil--Micaiah son of Imlah;' and Jehoshaphat said, `Let not the king say so..

¹ And there is a great cry of the people and their wives, concerning their brethren the Jews, ² yea, there are who are saying, `Our sons, and our daughters, we--are many, and we receive corn, and eat, and live.. <sup>3</sup> And there are who are saying, `Our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses, we are pledging, and we receive corn for the famine.. ⁴ And there are who are saying, `We have borrowed money for the tribute of the king, [on] our fields, and our vineyards;" ⁵ and now, as the flesh of our brethren [is] our flesh, as their sons [are] our sons, and lo, we are subduing our sons and our daughters for servants, and there are of our daughters subdued, and our hand has no might, and our fields and our vineyards [are] to others.. ⁶ And it is very displeasing to me when I have heard their cry and these words,

¹ Afterward Job opened his mouth, and he maledicted his day. ² Thus Job asserted and said: ³ May the day perish in which I was born, And the night that said, Behold, a master!" ⁴ That day! may it be darkness; Let not Eloah from above inquire of it, And let not a light beam shine on it. ⁵ May darkness and the blackest shadow sully it; May a cloud tabernacle over it; May rolling fogs of the day frighten it. ⁶ That night! may gloom take hold of it; May it not be one of the days of the year; In the numbering of the months, may it not enter. ⁷ Behold, that night! may it be stark; Let no jubilation enter into it. ⁸ May those cursing the day revile it, Who are equipped to rouse the dragon. ⁹ May the stars of its gloaming be darkened; May it expect light and there be none, And let it not see the eyelids of the dawn. ¹⁰ For it did not close the doors of my mother's belly Or conceal misery from my eyes. ¹¹ Why did I not die from the womb, From the belly come forth and expire? ¹² For what reason did two knees anticipate me, And why were there two breasts that I could suck? ¹³ For now I would lie and be quiet; I would sleep; then there would be rest for me, ¹⁴ With kings and counsellors of the earth, The builders of desert tombs for themselves, ¹⁵ Or with chiefs who had gold, Who were filling their houses with silver. ¹⁶ Why was I not like a buried stillborn child, Like babes who have not seen light? ¹⁷ There the wicked leave off all disturbance, And there those wearied from vigor are resting. ¹⁸ Prisoners are tranquil together; They do not hear the voice of the taskmaster. ¹⁹ Small or great, he is there, And the servant is free from his lords. ²⁰ Why is He giving light to the miserable, And life to the bitter of sou. ²¹ (Who tarry for death, yet it is not coming, And they delve for it more than for buried treasures, ²² Who rejoice unto exultation, And they are elated when they find the tomb), ²³ To a master whose way is concealed When Eloah has screened him about? ²⁴ For like my bread comes my sighing, And my roarings pour forth like water. ²⁵ For when I am afraid of an alarm, it arrives for me, And whatever I shrink from comes to me. ²⁶ I have no ease, and I am not quiet; I have no rest, and disturbance keeps coming.

⁵ He has neither lent his money at interest Nor taken a bribe against the innocent. He who is doing these things shall not slip for the eon.

²⁸ They may maledict, but You shall bless; Those rising against me shall be ashamed, yet Your servant shall rejoice."

⁵ Woe to me, for I sojourn in Meshech; I tabernacle among the tents of Kedar." ⁶ Long enough for itself has my soul tabernacled With a people hating peace.

² Like the sparrow in its flitting, like the swallow in its flying, So a gratuitous malediction does not come to rest."

¹⁸ And I, lo, I have given you this day for a fenced city, and for an iron pillar, and for brazen walls over all the land, to the kings of Judah, to its heads, to its priests, and to the people of the land;" ¹⁹ and they have fought against you, and they prevail not against you; for with you [am] I, --an affirmation of Yahweh--to deliver you."

²⁰ And I have made you to this people For a wall--brazen--fenced, And they have fought against you, And they do not prevail against you, For with you [am] I to save you, And to deliver you--an affirmation of Yahweh,

⁷ You have persuaded me, O Yahweh, and I am persuaded; You have hardened me, and do prevail, I have been for a laughter all the day, Every one is mocking at me, ⁸ Because from the time I speak I cry out, `Violence and destruction,' I cry, For the word of Yahweh has been to me For reproach and for derision all the day."

¹⁴ Cursed [is] the day in which I was born, The day that my mother bare me, Let it not be blessed!" ¹⁵ Cursed [is] the man who bore tidings [to] my father, saying, `Born to you has been a child--a male,' Making him very glad!" ¹⁶ Then has that man been as the cities, That Yahweh overthrew, and repented not, And he has heard a cry at morning, And a shout at time of noon." ¹⁷ Because he has not put me to death from the womb, And my mother is to me--my grave, And her womb a pregnancy eonian." ¹⁸ Why [is] this? from the womb I have come out, To see labor and sorrow, Yea, consumed in shame are my days!"

⁶ `And you, son of man, you are not afraid of them, yea, of their words you are not afraid, for briers and thorns are with you, and near scorpions you are dwelling, of their words you are not afraid, and of their faces you are not affrighted, for they [are] a rebellious house, ⁷ And you have spoken My words unto them, whether they hear or whether they forbear, for they [are] rebellious."

⁷ but the house of Israel are not willing to hearken unto you, for they are not willing to hearken unto Me, for all the house of Israel are brazen-faced and strong-hearted." ⁸ `Lo, I have made your face strong against their face, and your forehead strong against their forehead." ⁹ As an adamant harder than a rock I have made your forehead; you do not fear them, nor are you affrighted before them, for a rebellious house [are] they.'"

⁴⁴ Yet I am saying to you, Love your enemies, and pray for those who are persecuting you,

²¹ Now brother shall be giving up brother to death, and father, child, and children shall be rising up against parents, and shall be putting them to death." ²² And you shall be hated by all because of My name. Yet he who endures to the consummation, he shall be saved." ²³ Now, whenever they may be persecuting you in this city, flee into a different one, for, verily, I am saying to you, Under no circumstances should you be finishing the cities of Israel till the Son of Mankind may be coming."

⁹ Then shall they be giving you up to affliction, and they shall be killing you, and you shall be hated by all of the nations because of My name."

³⁴ And Simeon blesses them and said to Miriam, His mother, "Lo! He is lying for the fall and rising of many in Israel, And for a sign contradicted."

²² Happy are you whenever men should be hating you, and whenever they should be severing from you and reproaching you and casting out your name as wicked, on account of the Son of Mankind."

²⁰ and, leading them to the officers, say, "These men are confounding our city. Belonging to the Jews, they are" ²¹ also announcing customs which it is not allowed us to assent to, nor to do, being Romans." ²² And the throng assailed them, and the officers, tearing off their garments, ordered them to be flogged with rods."

⁶ Now, not finding them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the city magistrates, imploring that "Those who raise the inhabited earth to insurrection, these are present in this place also, ⁷ whom Jason has entertained. And all these are committing things contravening the decrees of Caesar, saying there is a different king, Jesus." ⁸ Now they disturb the throng and the city magistrates on hearing these things.

⁸ Now, entering the synagogue, he spoke boldly for three months, arguing and persuading as to that which concerns the kingdom of God." ⁹ Now, as some were hardened and stubborn, saying evil things of the way before the multitude, withdrawing from them, he severs the disciples, arguing day by day in the school of Tyrannus."

²⁵ whom convening together, as also the workers about such things, he said, "Men! You are versed in the fact that by this vocation we thrive, ²⁶ and you are beholding and hearing that, not only of Ephesus, but of almost the entire province of Asia, this Paul by his persuading causes a considerable throng to stand aloof, saying that they are not gods which are coming into being by means of hands." ²⁷ Now, not only is this endangering our party, by it coming to be confuted, but the sanctuary of the great goddess Artemis also is being thereby reckoned nothing. Besides, her magnificence is about to be pulled down also, whom the whole province of Asia and the inhabited earth is revering." ²⁸ Now, hearing this and becoming full of fury, they cried, saying, "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!"

²² Now we count it worthwhile to hear from you what your disposition is. For, indeed, concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is being contradicted."

⁹ For I suppose that God demonstrates with us, the last apostles, as death-doomed, for we became a theater to the world and to messengers and to men." ¹⁰ We are stupid because of Christ, yet you are prudent in Christ. We are weak, yet you are strong. You are glorious, yet we are dishonored." ¹¹ Until the present hour we are hungering also and thirsting, and are naked and are buffeted and unsettled and toiling, working with our own hands." ¹² Being reviled, we are blessing; being persecuted, we are bearing with it;" ¹³ being calumniated, we are entreating. As the offscourings of the world we became, the scum of all things, hitherto."

³ Trust in Yahweh, and do good; Tabernacle in the land, and graze in faithfulness." ⁴ Find pleasure in Yahweh, And He shall give you the requests of your heart." ⁵ Hand over your way to Yahweh; Trust Him, and He shall do it." ⁶ So He will make your righteousness shine forth like the light, And your right judgment like the noonday sun." ⁷ Be still before Yahweh, and wait for Him; Do not grow hot because someone prospers his way, Because a man is carrying out his schemes;" ⁸ Hold back from anger, and forsake fury; Do not grow hot; it leads only to evil." ⁹ For the evildoers, they shall be cut off, Yet those expecting Yahweh, they shall tenant the land." ¹⁰ And still a little while, and there will be no wicked one; When you consider his place, he will not be there." ¹¹ Yet the humbled ones, they shall tenant the land, And they will find pleasure in the abundance of well-being."

⁴⁶ He gave them over to compassions Before all those holding them captive.

⁷ When a man's ways please Yahweh He makes even his enemies live at peace with him.

¹ Like rillets of water is the king's heart in the hand of Yahweh; Wherever He inclines, He turns it aside."

¹² Though a sinner does a hundred evils and days are prolonged for him, Yet I know that good shall come to those fearful of the One, Elohim, Who fear before Him."

² `Inquire, we pray you, for us at Yahweh, for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has fought against us; perhaps Yahweh does deal with us according to all His wonders, and does cause him to go up from off us.'"

¹¹ For I have known the thoughts that I am thinking towards you--an affirmation of Yahweh; thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give to you posterity and hope." ¹² `And you have called Me, and have gone, and have prayed unto Me, and I have hearkened unto you, ¹³ And you have sought Me, and have found, for you seek Me with all your heart;" ¹⁴ And I have been found of you--an affirmation of Yahweh; and I have turned back [to] your captivity, and have gathered you out of all the nations, and out of all the places whither I have driven you--an affirmation of Yahweh--and I have brought you back unto the place whence I removed you."

³ And Zedekiah the king sends Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying, `Pray, we beseech you, for us unto Yahweh our Elohim.'"

¹¹ And Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gives a charge concerning Jeremiah, by the hand of Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, saying, ¹² `Take him, and place your eyes upon him, and do no evil thing to him, but as he speaks unto you, so do with him.'"

² And the chief of the executioners takes Jeremiah, and said unto him, `Yahweh your Elohim has spoken this evil concerning this place, <sup>3</sup> and Yahweh brings [it] in, and does as He spoke, because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not hearkened to His voice, even this thing has been to you." <sup>4</sup> `And now, lo, I have loosed you to-day from the chains that [are] on your hand; if good in your eyes to come with me [to] Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon you:and if evil in your eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land [is] before you, whither [it be] good, and whither [it be] right in your eyes to go--go.' --" ⁵ and while he does not reply--`Or turn back unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it is right in your eyes to go--go.' And the chief of the executioners gives to him for the way, and a gift, and sends him away, ⁶ and Jeremiah comes in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwells with him, in the midst of the people who are left in the land."

² and they say unto Jeremiah the prophet, `Let, we pray you, our supplication fall before you, and pray for us unto Yahweh your Elohim, for all this remnant; for we have been left a few out of many, as your eyes do see us;"

⁹ Do you have an arm like El's? And can you thunder with a voice like His?

⁹ Will anyone contend with his Former? The earthenware with the ceramists? Is the clay saying to its potter, `What are you making?' And your contrivance, `No hands has he'?

⁴ Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel:Lo, I am turning round the weapons of battle That [are] in your hand, With which you do fight the king of Babylon, And the Chaldeans, who are laying siege against you, At the outside of the wall, And I have gathered them into the midst of this city, ⁵ And I--I have fought against you, With a stretched-out hand, and with a strong arm, And in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath,

¹⁴ For thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, A yoke of iron I have put on the neck of all these nations to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they have served him, and also the beast of the field I have given to him.'"

⁵ See, despisers, and look, and be utterly amazed, for I contrive a contrivance in your days you will not believe though it were being related." ⁶ For, behold Me raising the Chaldeans, the bitter and hasty nation, going the widths of the earth to tenant tabernacles not his own." ⁷ Dreadful and fearful is he! His judgment and his dignity are faring forth from him. ⁸ His horses are fleeter than leopards and sharper than evening wolves, and his horsemen are diffused; and his horsemen will come from far. They will fly as a vulture that hurries to eat." ⁹ All of them will come for violence. The endeavor of their faces is toward the east; and they shall gather the captives as sand. ¹⁰ And he will scoff at kings, and chancellors will be sport to him; he will sport with every fortress and pile up soil and seize it."

¹² You sell Your people, yet not for wealth; Nor are You increased by the price for them."

³ For thus says Yahweh, "Gratuitously were you sold, and not with silver shall you be redeemed."

⁵ And now, what is for Me here,averring is Yahweh, "that My people are taken gratuitously? Their rulers are howling,averring is Yahweh, "and continually, the entire day, My name is spurned among the nations."

⁸ Its widows have been more to Me than the sand of the seas, I brought in to them--against the mother--A young man--a spoiler--at noon. I caused to fall upon her suddenly, wrath and trouble."

³ O My mountain in the field--your strength, All your treasures--for a prey I give, Your high places for sin in all your borders."

⁵ And I have given all the strength of this city, And all its labor, and all its precious things, Yea, all the treasures of the kings of Judah I do give into the hand of their enemies, And they have spoiled them, and taken them, And have brought them into Babylon."

³⁸ You will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will devour you. ³⁹ The remainder among you shall be putrid over their depravity in the lands of your enemies, and also over the depravities of their fathers with them shall they be putrid.

³⁶ Yahweh shall conduct you and your king, whom you shall set up over you, to a nation whom you have not known, neither you nor your fathers, and you will serve there other elohim of wood and stone.

²³ its whole land a burnt waste of sulfur and salt; it shall not be sown, neither shall it sprout, nor shall any herbage ascend in it, like the overturning of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Yahweh overturned in His anger and in His fury-.

²² For a fire will be kindled by My anger, and it shall glow unto the unseen beneath; it shall devour the earth and its crop, and it shall set aflame the foundations of the mountains.

⁹ You shall make them like a fiery stove in the era of Your presence. Yahweh shall swallow them up in His anger, And fire shall devour them."

²⁵ And He will pour out the fury of His anger on him, and strengthen the battle. And it will set him aflame round about. Yet he will not know that it shall consume among them. Yet they will not lay it to heart."

¹⁵ For, behold! Yahweh shall come with fire! And as a sweeping whirlwind are His chariots, to return with fury, His anger, and His rebuke in blazes of fire." ¹⁶ For with fire Yahweh shall come to judge the entire earth, and by His sword all flesh; and multitudinous are the wounded of Yahweh!"

⁴ Be circumcised to Yahweh, And turn aside the foreskins of your heart, O man of Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury go out as fire, and has burned, And there is none quenching, Because of the evil of your doings."

¹⁸ If I have gone forth to the field, Then, lo, the pierced of the sword! And if I have entered the city, Then, lo, the diseased of famine! For both prophet and priest have gone up and down Unto a land that they knew not."

⁴ And I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem."

¹³ And I have cast you from off this land, On to a land that you have not known, You and your fathers, And you have served there other elohims by day and by night, Where I do not give to you grace."

⁴ And you have let go--even through yourself, Of your inheritance that I gave to you, And I have caused you to serve your enemies, In a land that you have not known, For a fire you have kindled in Mine anger, Unto the eon it does burn."

²⁷ and the king of Babylon smites them, and puts them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removes Judah from off its own ground."

²⁷ And I will deport you beyond Damascus, says Yahweh, Elohim of hosts is His name."

⁵ The mountains quake because of Him, and the hills dissolve. The earth is upheaving because of His presence, and the habitance and all dwelling in it." ⁶ Before His menace, who will stand? And who will rise in the heat of His anger? His fury is poured forth as fire, and the rocks are broken down because of Him."

²⁹ for our God is also a consuming fire.

¹⁹ Remember for me, O my Elohim, for good, all that I have done for this people.

¹⁴ Be mindful, O my Elohim, of Tobiah, and of Sanballat, according to these his works, and also, of Noadiah the prophetess, and of the rest of the prophets who have been making me afraid.

²² And I say to the Levites, that they be cleansed, and, coming in, keeping the gates, to sanctify the sabbath-day. Also, this, remember for me, O my Elohim, and have pity on me, according to the abundance of Your kindness.

³¹ and for the wood-offering at appointed times, and for first-fruits. Be mindful of me, O my Elohim, for good.

⁷ Although Your knowledge is that I am not wicked, And there is no one rescuing from Your hand?

³ O Yahweh my Elohim, if I have done this, If there is iniquity in my palms, ⁴ If I have requited evil to one at peace with me-- I, who pulled off valueless spoils from my foe-. ⁵ May the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, May he tramp my life into the earth, And may he cause my glory to tabernacle in the soil. {Interlude{ "

³ You have tested my heart; You have visited by night; You have refined me and find no crime in me at all; My mouth shall not trespass.

⁷ For on Your account I bear reproach; Mortification covers my face. ⁸ I have become an alien to my brothers And a foreigner to the sons of my mother. ⁹ For the zeal of Your House, it devours me, And the reproaches of those reproaching You, they fall on me."

²⁴ I am saying, O my El, do not take me away at the half of my days! Your years continue through generation after generations."

⁴ Remember me, O Yahweh, in Your benevolence to Your people; Notice me in Your salvation,

²⁶ Help me, O Yahweh my Elohim; Save me according to Your benignity." ²⁷ Then they shall know that this is Your handiwork, That You Yourself, O Yahweh, have done it." ²⁸ They may maledict, but You shall bless; Those rising against me shall be ashamed, yet Your servant shall rejoice." ²⁹ Let my adversaries be clothed with mortification, And let them be muffled with their shame like a robe."

⁸⁴ How long are the days of Your servant? When shall You bring judgment upon my persecutors?

¹³² Turn toward me and be gracious to me According to the custom for those loving Your Name. ¹³³ Establish my footsteps in Your promise, And let not any lawlessness have authority over me." ¹³⁴ Ransom me from human extortion, And I will keep Your precepts."

³ and saying, "Oh, Yahweh! Remember, pray, how I walked before You in truth and with a peaceable heart, and what is good in Your eyes have I done.And Hezekiah is lamenting with a great lamentation."

¹⁸ And, O Yahweh, cause me to know, and I know, Then You have showed me their doings." ¹⁹ And I [am] as a trained lamb brought to slaughter, And I have not known That against me they have devised devices:We destroy the tree with its food, and cut him off From the land of the living, And his name is not remembered again." ²⁰ And O Yahweh of Hosts, judging righteousness, Trying reins and heart, I do see Your vengeance against them, For unto You I have revealed my cause.'" ²¹ Therefore, thus said Yahweh concerning the men of Anathoth, who are seeking your life, saying:Do not prophesy in the name of Yahweh, And you do not die by our hands."

³ And You, O Yahweh, You have known me, You see me, and have tried my heart with You, Draw them away as sheep to slaughter, And separate them for a day of slaughter."

¹⁰ Woe to me, my mother, For you have borne me a man of strife, And a man of contention to all the land, I have not lent on usury, Nor have they lent on usury to me--All of them are reviling me."

¹⁶ And I hastened not from feeding after You, And the desperate day I have not desired, You--You have known, The produce of my lips, before Your face it has been,

⁸ Because from the time I speak I cry out, `Violence and destruction,' I cry, For the word of Yahweh has been to me For reproach and for derision all the day."

¹² And, O Yahweh of Hosts, trier of the righteous, Beholder of reins and heart, I do see Your vengeance out of them, For unto You I have revealed my cause."

¹⁰ "Happy are those persecuted on account of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. ¹¹ "Happy are you whenever they should be reproaching and persecuting you and, falsifying, saying every wicked thing against you, on my account. ¹² Rejoice and exult, for your wages are vast in the heavens. For thus they persecute the prophets before you.

²² And you shall be hated by all because of My name. Yet he who endures to the consummation, he shall be saved."

²⁹ And everyone who leaves houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or fields, on account of My name, a hundred-fold shall be getting, and shall be enjoying the allotment of life eonian."

²² Happy are you whenever men should be hating you, and whenever they should be severing from you and reproaching you and casting out your name as wicked, on account of the Son of Mankind." ²³ You may be rejoicing in that day, and frisk, for lo! your wages are vast in heaven, for according to the same manner did their fathers to the prophets."

⁷ Yet should not God by all means be doing the avenging of His chosen ones, who are imploring Him day and night? And He is patient with them." ⁸ I am saying to you that He will be doing the avenging of them swiftly. Moreover, consequently, at the coming of the Son of Mankind, will He be finding the faith on the earth?

¹⁷ And you shall be hated by all because of My name.

¹⁵ When, then, they lunch, Jesus is saying to Simon Peter, "Simon of John, are you loving Me more than these?He is saying to Him, "Yes, Lord, Thou art aware that I am fond of Thee!He is saying to him, "Graze My lambkins!" ¹⁶ He is saying to him again a second time, "Simon of John, are you loving Me?He is saying to Him, "Yes, Lord, Thou art aware that I am fond of Thee!He is saying to him, "Shepherd My sheep!" ¹⁷ He is saying to him the third time, "Simon of John, are you fond of Me?Peter was sorry that He said to him the third time "Are you fond of Me?and he is saying to Him, "Lord, Thou art aware of all things! Thou knowest that I am fond of Thee.And Jesus is saying to him, "Graze My little sheep!"

³⁵ What shall be separating us from the love of God in Christ Jesus? Affliction, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

¹⁹ you are not avenging yourselves, beloved, but be giving place to His indignation, for it is written, Mine is vengeance! I will repay! the Lord is saying. "

¹¹ Being aware, then, of the fear of the Lord, we are persuading men, yet we are manifest to God. Now I am expecting to be manifest in your consciences also."

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith displayed to me much evil: the Lord will be paying him in accord with his acts -

¹⁴ If you are being reproached in the name of Christ, happy are you, for the spirit of glory and power, and that of God, has come to rest on you." ¹⁵ For let not any of you be suffering as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as an interferer in other's affairs;" ¹⁶ yet if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, yet let him be glorifying God in this name,

¹⁰ And they cry with a loud voice, saying, "Till when, O Owner, holy and true, art Thou not judging and avenging our blood on those dwelling on the earth?

²⁰ Make merry over her, O heaven, and ye saints and apostles and prophets, seeing that God judges by passing your sentence upon her."

¹² From the instruction of His lips I do not remove myself; I have secluded in my bosom the sayings of His mouth.

¹⁰ Coveted more than gold, and more than much glittering gold, And sweeter than honey and drips of the combs."

⁷² Better to me is the law of Your mouth Than thousands of gold and silver.

⁹⁷ How I love Your law! The entire day it is my meditation.

¹⁰¹ 1 I detain my feet from every evil path, That I may keep Your word." ¹⁰² 2 I do not withdraw from Your ordinances, For You Yourself direct me." ¹⁰³ How savory are Your promises to my palate, Better than honey to my mouth!"

⁹ Why are You as one dumb? As a mighty one not able to save? And You [are] in our midst, O Yahweh, And Your name over us is called, leave us not."

¹ And He said unto me, `Son of man, that which you find eat, eat this roll, and go, speak unto the house of Israel.'" <sup>2</sup> And I open my mouth, and He causes me to eat this roll." <sup>3</sup> And He said unto me, `Son of man, your belly you do feed, and your bowels you do fill with this roll that I am giving unto you;' and I eat it, and it is in my mouth as honey for sweetness."

⁹ And I came away to the messenger, saying to him to give me the tiny scroll. And he is saying to me, "Take it and devour it; and it will be making your bowels bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey." ¹⁰ And I got the tiny scroll out of the hand of the messenger, and devoured it. And in my mouth it was sweet as honey. And when I ate it, my bowels were made bitter."

¹ Happy is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Who neither stands in the way of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of mockers.

⁴ I have not sat with men of hypocrisy, And with dissemblers I shall not enter." ⁵ I have hated the assembly of evildoers, And with the wicked I shall not sit."

⁷ I am watchful, And I am becoming like a solitary bird on a housetop."

¹⁰ See, I have charged you this day concerning the nations, and concerning the kingdoms, to pluck up, and to break down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.'"

¹⁷ And if you do not hear it, In secret places does my soul weep, because of pride, Yea, it weeps sore, And the tear comes down mine eyes, For the flock of Yahweh has been taken captive."

⁸ A house of banqueting you do not enter, To sit with them, to eat and to drink,

⁸ Because from the time I speak I cry out, `Violence and destruction,' I cry, For the word of Yahweh has been to me For reproach and for derision all the day." <sup>9</sup> And I said, `I do not mention Him, Nor do I speak any more in His name,' And it has been in my heart As a burning fire shut up in my bones, And I have been weary of containing, And I am not able."

²⁸ Let him sit alone and be still when He lifts it up on him;

²⁴ And come into me does a spirit, and causes me to stand on my feet, and He speaks with me, and said unto me, `Go in, be shut up in the midst of your house." <sup>25</sup> `And you, son of man, lo, they have put on you thick bands, and have bound you with them, and you go not forth in their midst;"

²⁸ Furthermore, as this is the termination of the matter, I, Daniel--my ruminations are greatly flustering me, my aspect is altering on me, and I leave the matter in the custody of my heart."

¹⁷ Wherefore, Come out of their midst and be severed, the Lord is saying. And touch not the unclean, and I will admit you,

¹⁵ My brothers, they are treacherous like a watercourse, Like a channel of watercourses that overflow, ¹⁶ That become somber because of ice, And snow obscures them. ¹⁷ In the season when they thaw they are effaced; When it is warm they are extinguished from their place. ¹⁸ Caravans are sent aside from their way; They ascend into the wasteland and perish. ¹⁹ The caravans of Tema look for waters; The wayfarers of Sheba expect to find them. ²⁰ But they are ashamed that each one trusted the place; They come to it, and they are abashed.

⁶ Concerning my due, should I lie? My lesion is mortal, yet I am without transgression.

³ And my soul, it is flustered exceedingly. But You, O Yahweh, how long?

¹⁹ Have You utterly rejected Judah? Zion has Your soul loathed? Wherefore have You smitten us, And there is no healing to us? Looking for peace, and there is no good, And for a time of healing, and lo, terror."

⁷ You have persuaded me, O Yahweh, and I am persuaded; You have hardened me, and do prevail, I have been for a laughter all the day, Every one is mocking at me,

¹² For thus said Yahweh:Incurable is your breach, grievous your stroke,

¹⁵ What! --you cry concerning your breach! Incurable [is] your pain, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, Mighty have been your sins! I have done these to you."

¹ I am the master who has seen humiliation under the club of His rage; ² He leads me and makes me walk in darkness and not light; ³ Surely against me again and again He is turning His hand all the day. ⁴ He wears out my flesh and my skin; He breaks my bones; ⁵ He builds against me and encompasses me with destitution and stress; ⁶ He makes me dwell in utter darkness like the eonian dead. ⁷ He dikes me about so that I cannot go forth; He makes my copper fetters heavy; ⁸ Even when I cry out and implore, He shuts out my prayer;" ⁹ He dikes my ways with trimmed stone; He contorts my tracks. ¹⁰ A bear lying in ambush is He to me, a lion in concealments;" ¹¹ He withdraws me from my ways and tears me apart; He makes me desolate. ¹² He positions His bow and is setting me as a target for the arrow; ¹³ He pierces my innermost being with the sons of His quiver. ¹⁴ I have become the sport of all peoples, the accompaniment of their song all the day;" ¹⁵ He surfeits me with bitter herbs; He satiates me with wormwood. ¹⁶ He is breaking up my teeth on gravel; He makes me fare on ashes; ¹⁷ My soul is cast off from peace; I am oblivious of good; ¹⁸ And I think my endurance has perished, and my hope from Yahweh."

¹² And now go, and I shall come to be with your mouth and direct you what you shall speak.

¹⁵ You will speak to him and place the words in his mouth. And I shall come to be with your mouth and with his mouth and direct both of you as to what you shall do. ¹⁶ So he will speak for you to the people; it will come to be that he shall become a mouth for you, and you shall become an elohim for him.

²⁹ that Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying: I am Yahweh. Speak to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, all that I am speaking to you. ³⁰ Yet Moses said before Yahweh: Behold, I am uncircumcised of lip, so how shall Pharaoh hearken to me?

¹⁰ to differentiate between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean,

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, `Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, lives, before whom I have stood, there is not these years dew and rain, except according to my word..

²⁹ Do you perceive a man who is expert in his work? He shall station himself before kings; By no means shall he station himself before obscure men.

⁵ And no longer shall the decadent be called a patron, nor to a miser shall be said, "saviour." ⁶ For the decadent is speaking decadence, and his heart is devising lawlessness, to execute pollution, and to speak, as to Yahweh, what leads astray, to empty the soul of the famished, and the drink of the thirsty he causes to be lacking."

¹ And Yahweh said unto me:Though Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My soul is not toward this people, Send from before My face, and they go out."

And my wound incurable? It has refused to be healed, You are surely to me as a failing stream, Waters not stedfast."

²⁰ And Jeremiah said, `They do not give you up; hearken, I pray you, to the voice of Yahweh, to that which I am speaking unto you, and it is well for you, and your soul does live." <sup>21</sup> `And if you are refusing to go forth, this [is] the thing that Yahweh has shown me:"

⁷ And you have spoken My words unto them, whether they hear or whether they forbear, for they [are] rebellious."

¹⁰ And He said unto me, `Son of man, all My words, that I speak unto you, receive with your heart, and with your ears hear;" ¹¹ and go, enter in unto the Removed, unto the sons of your people, and you have spoken unto them, and have said unto them:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:whether they hear, or whether they forbear.'"

²⁶ Its priests have wronged My law, And they pollute My holy things, Between holy and common they have not made separation, And between the unclean and the clean they have not made known, And from my sabbaths they have hidden their eyes, And I am pierced in their midst."

²³ `And My people they direct between holy and common, and between unclean and clean they cause them to discern."

² Rise! Go unto Nineveh, the great city, and call out to it the call which I am speaking to you."

⁷ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Should you be going in My ways and should you be keeping My charge, then, moreover, you shall adjudicate over My house and, moreover, you shall keep My courts, and I give to you walks between those who are standing by."

¹⁹ And answering, the messenger said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands before God, and I was dispatched to speak to you and to bring you this evangel."

¹⁶ He who is hearing you is hearing Me. And he who is repudiating you is repudiating Me. Yet he who is repudiating Me is repudiating Him Who commissions Me."

¹² for the holy spirit will be teaching you in the same hour what you must be saying."

¹⁵ for I will be giving you a mouth and wisdom, which all those opposing you shall not be able to withstand or contradict."

³⁶ Now be vigilant, on every occasion beseeching that you may be prevailing to escape all these things which are about to occur, and to stand in front of the Son of Mankind."

²⁷ for under no circumstances do I shrink from informing you of the entire counsel of God.

¹⁶ So that we, from now on, are acquainted with no one according to flesh. Yet even if we have known Christ according to flesh, nevertheless now we know Him so no longer."

¹⁰ For, at present, am I persuading men or God? Or am I seeking to please men? If I still pleased men, I were not a slave of Christ."

⁵ to whom, not even for an hour do we simulate by subjection, that the truth of the evangel should be continuing with you."

¹⁴ Now solid nourishment is for the mature, who, because of habit, have faculties exercised for discriminating between the ideal and the evil."

⁹ As an adamant harder than a rock I have made your forehead; you do not fear them, nor are you affrighted before them, for a rebellious house [are] they.'"

⁸ Then Peter, being filled with holy spirit, said to them, "Chiefs of the people and elders!" ⁹ If we today are being examined as to the benefaction to the infirm man, by what he has been saved, ¹⁰ let it be known to you all and to the entire people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, Whom you crucify, Whom God rouses from among the dead, in this name, this man stands by before you sound." ¹¹ This is the Stone that is being scorned by you builders, which is becoming the head of the corner." ¹² And there is no salvation in any other one, for neither is there any other name, given under heaven among men, in which we must be saved." ¹³ Now on beholding the boldness of Peter and John, and grasping that they are unlettered and plain men, they marveled. ²⁹ Yet answering, Peter and the apostles say, "One must yield to God rather than to men." ³⁰ Now the God of our fathers rouses Jesus, on Whom you lay hands, hanging Him on a pole." ³¹ This Inaugurator and Saviour, God exalts to His right hand, to give repentance to Israel and the pardon of sins." ³² We are witnesses to these declarations, as well as the holy spirit which God gives to those yielding to Him."

⁹ Now the Lord said to Paul, in the night, through a vision, "Fear not! but be speaking; and you should not be silent, ¹⁰ because I am with you, and no one shall place hands on you to illtreat you, because there are many people of Mine in this city."

³¹ What then, shall we declare to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? ³² Surely, He Who spares not His own Son, but gives Him up for us all, how shall He not, together with Him, also, be graciously granting us all? ³³ Who will be indicting God's chosen ones? God, the Justifier? ³⁴ Who is the Condemner? Christ Jesus, the One dying, yet rather being roused, Who is also at God's right hand, Who is pleading also for our sakes? ³⁵ What shall be separating us from the love of God in Christ Jesus? Affliction, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ According as it is written that "On Thy account we are being put to death the whole day, We are reckoned as sheep for slaughter." ³⁷ Nay! in all these we are more than conquering through Him Who loves us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor messengers, nor sovereignties, nor the present, nor what is impending, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, our Lord."

¹⁶ At my first defense no one came along with me, but all forsook me." ¹⁷ May it not be reckoned against them! Yet the Lord stood beside me, and He invigorates me, that through me the heralding may be fully discharged, and all the nations should hear; and I am rescued out of the mouth of the lion."

²² The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit! Grace be with you! Amen!

¹⁶ the Messenger, my Redeemer from all evil, bless these youths. And called on them shall be my name, and the name of my forefathers, Abraham and Isaac. And prolific shall they be, to make a vast increase within the land.

² When evildoers drew near against me To devour my flesh, They who were to me my foes and my enemies, They stumbled and fell."

⁴⁰ And Yahweh shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked and save them, For they took refuge in Him."

³ Therefore a humble people shall glorify You. A town of terrifying nations shall fear You. ⁴ For You do become a stronghold for the poor, a stronghold for the needy one in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the drought, for the spirit of the terrifier is as a storm against a side wall." ⁵ As drought in an arid place, the tumult of the arrogant are You quelling. As drought in the shadow of a thick cloud, the psalm of the terrifier is He humbling."

⁵ And, as thin powder, comes the throng of your foes, and, as passing trash, the throng of the terrifiers. And it comes for an instant,

²⁰ For the limit will be reached by the terrifier, and finished will be the mocker, and cut off will be all alert for lawlessness,

²⁴ Taken from a master is the booty? And would the captive of a terrifier escape? ²⁵ For thus says Yahweh, "Even the captive of a master will be taken, and the booty of the terrifier will escape. Yet with your contender I will contend, and your sons I will save."

²⁰ Now the God of peace will be crushing Satan under your feet swiftly. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you!
