⁴ And Zedekiah king of Judah does not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but is certainly given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and his mouth has spoken with his mouth, and his eyes see his eyes, ⁵ And [to] Babylon he leads Zedekiah, and there he is till My inspecting him, --an affirmation of Yahweh--because you fight with the Chaldeans, you do not prosper.'"

²⁸ `Therefore, thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he has captured it;" ²⁹ And come in have the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city, and they have set this city on fire, and have burned it, and the houses on whose roofs they made perfume to Baal, and poured out libations to other elohims, so as to provoke Me to anger."

¹ And it comes to pass, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word has been unto Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying:" ² `Take to you a roll of a book, and you have written on it all the words that I have spoken unto you concerning Israel, and concerning Judah, and concerning all the nations, from the day I spoke unto you, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day;" <sup>3</sup> if so be the house of Israel do hear all the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, so that they turn back each from is evil way, and I have been propitious to their iniquity, and to their sin.'" <sup>4</sup> And Jeremiah calls Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch writes from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Yahweh, that He has spoken unto him, on a roll of a book." <sup>5</sup> And Jeremiah commands Baruch, saying, `I am restrained, I am not able to enter the house of Yahweh;"

³¹ and I have charged on him, and on his seed, and on his servants, their iniquity; and I have brought in on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto the men of Judah, all the evil that I have spoken unto them, and they hearkened not.'"

⁷ And Ebed-Melech the Cushite, a eunuch who [is] in the king's house, hears that they have put Jeremiah into the pit; and the king is sitting at the gate of Benjamin, ⁸ and Ebed-Melech goes forth from the king's house, and speaks unto the king, saying, ⁹ `My lord, O king, these men have done evil [in] all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the pit, and he dies in his place because of the famine, for there is no more bread in the city.'"

⁴ Thus do you say unto him:Thus said Yahweh:Lo, that which I have built I am throwing down, and that which I have planted I am plucking up, even the whole land itself." ⁵ And you--you seek for you great things--do not seek, for lo, I am bringing in evil on all flesh--an affirmation of Yahweh--and I have given to you your life for a spoil, in all places whither you go.'"

⁴ And it comes to pass, in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, come has Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon--he and all his force--against Jerusalem, and they encamp against it, and build against it a fortification round about;" ⁵ and the city comes into siege till the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. ⁶ In the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, when the famine is severe in the city, and there has been no bread for the people of the land, ⁷ then is the city broken up, and all the men of war flee, and go forth from the city by night, the way of the gate between the two walls, that [is] by the king's garden--and the Chaldeans [are] by the city round about--and they go the way of the plain."

³ Deported is Judah after humiliation and much servitude; She dwells among the nations but finds no rest; All her pursuers have overtaken her in the narrow places.

² Yahweh has swallowed up and has not spared all the oases of Jacob; He has demolished, in His rage, the fortresses of the daughter of Judah; He made them touch the earth; He has profaned the kingdom and its chiefs."

⁷ Yahweh has cast off His altar; He has disowned His sanctuary; He has surrendered the walls of her citadels into the hand of the enemy. They have raised their voice in the House of Yahweh as on the day of an appointed festival.

And has he broken covenant and escaped? ¹⁶ I live--an affirmation of the Lord Yahweh, Does he not--in the place of the king who is causing him to reign, Whose oath he has despised, And whose covenant he has broken, With him--in the midst of Babylon--die? ¹⁷ And not with a great force, and with a numerous assembly, Does Pharaoh maintain him in battle, By pouring out a mount, and in building a fortification, To cut off many souls." ¹⁸ And he despised the oath--to break covenant, And lo, he has given his hand, And all these he has done, he escapes not." ¹⁹ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh:I live--Mine oath that he has despised, And My covenant that he has broken, Have I not put it on his head? ²⁰ And I have spread out for him My snare, And he has been caught in My net, And I have brought him in to Babylon, And pleaded with him there his trespass, That he has trespassed against Me." ²¹ And all his fugitives, with all his bands, By sword do fall, and those remaining, To every wind they are spread out, And you have known that I, Yahweh, have spoken."

⁶ Yea, My words and My statutes, which you have received, which I instruct, by My spirit, My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your forefathers? And they are turning away and are saying:Just as Yahweh of hosts plans to do to us, as fits our ways and our actions, so He does with us."

¹⁹ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall become to the house of Judah elation and rejoicing and good appointments, and you will exult. Hence love truth and peace!"

⁴⁰ He who is receiving you is receiving Me, and he who is receiving Me is receiving Him Who commissions Me." ⁴¹ He who is receiving a prophet in the name of a prophet shall be obtaining a prophet's wages. And he who is receiving a just man in the name of a just man shall be obtaining a just man's wages. ⁴² And whoever should be giving one of these little ones only a cool cup to drink, in the name of a disciple, verily, I am saying to you, by no means should he be losing his wages."

And how much he serves in Ephesus you know quite well.
