¹³ And ashamed has been Moab because of Chemosh, As the house of Israel have been ashamed Because of Beth-El their confidence."

²⁴ That which Chemosh your elohim causes you to possess--do you not possess it? and all that which Yahweh our Elohim has dispossessed from our presence, --it we do possess.

³ And the Ashdodites rise early on the morrow, and lo, Dagon is fallen on its face to the earth, before the ark of Yahweh; and they take Dagon, and put it back to its place. ⁴ And they rise early in the morning on the morrow, and lo, Dagon is fallen on its face to the earth, before the ark of Yahweh, and the head of Dagon, and the two palms of its hands are cut off at the threshold, only the fishy part has been left to him;" ⁵ therefore the priests of Dagon, and all those coming into the house of Dagon, tread not on the threshold of Dagon, in Ashdod, till this day. ⁶ And the hand of Yahweh is heavy on the Ashdodites, and He makes them desolate, and smites them with emerods, Ashdod and its borders. ⁷ And the men of Ashdod see that [it is] so, and have said, `The ark of the Elohim of Israel does not abide with us, for hard has been His hand upon us, and upon Dagon our elohim..

⁷ Then does Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, in the hill that [is] on the front of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the sons of Ammon;"

²⁸ And the king takes counsel, and makes two calves of gold, and said unto them, `Enough to you of going up to Jerusalem; lo, your elohims, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.. ²⁹ And he sets the one in Beth-El, and the other he has put in Dan,

²⁶ And they take the bullock that [one] gave to them, and prepare, and call in the name of Baal from the morning even till the noon, saying, `O Baal, answer us!' and there is no voice, and there is none answering; and they leap on the altar that one had made. <sup>27</sup> And it comes to pass, at noon, that Elijah plays on them, and said, `Call with a loud voice, for he [is] an elohim, for he is meditating, or pursuing, or on a journey; it may be he is asleep, an does awake.. ²⁸ And they call with a loud voice, and cut themselves, according to their ordinance, with swords and with spears, till a flowing of blood [is] on them;" ²⁹ and it comes to pass, at the passing by of the noon, that they feign themselves prophets till the going up of the present, and there is no voice, and there is none answering, and there is none attending.

⁴⁰ And Elijah said to them, `Catch you the prophets of Baal; let not a man escape of them;' and they catch them, and Elijah brings them down unto the stream Kishon, and does slaughter them there.

²⁰ In that day humanity shall fling its forbidden idols of silver, and its forbidden idols of gold, which they make for it to worship, to the mole rats, and to the bats,

¹² And it comes, in case it fears, that Moab is tired on the fane height, and it comes to its sanctuary to pray, yet shall not prevail."

¹⁶ They are ashamed and even confounded, all of them together. And they go into confounding, artificers of forms."

²⁰ Convene and come! Close yourselves and arrive, delivered of the nations! They do not know, those carrying the wood, their carving, and praying to an el who is not a saviour."

¹ Bows Bel! Stoops Nebo! Their grief fetishes have come to be for the animal, and for the beast are your carriers laden. Their announcings are a load for the faint." ² They stoop. They bow together, and cannot escape the load, and their soul goes into captivity."

⁷ For, because of your trusting in your works, And in your treasures, even you are captured, And gone out has Chemosh in a removal, His priests and his heads together."

³⁹ How has it been broken down! they have howled, How has Moab turned the neck ashamed, And Moab has been for a derision. And for a terror to all round about her."

⁴⁶ Woe to you, O Moab, Perished has the people of Chemosh, For your sons were taken with the captives, And your daughters with the captivity."

⁵ Cast off your calf, Samaria! Hot is My anger against them. Till when are they being incapable of innocency? ⁶ For even this is from Israel; an artificer made it, and no Elohim is it, for backslidings are coming to be by your calf, Samaria."

⁵ The tabernaclers of Samaria will be stirred up for the heifer of Beth-aven, for its people mourn over it, and its dervishes are exulting over it, over its glory, for it is deported from it." ⁶ Moreover, it shall be fetched to Assyria, a present to king Jareb. Ephraim shall take shame, and Israel shall be ashamed because of its counsel."

¹⁴ Yet a tumult shall rise among your people, and all your fortresses shall be devastated, as Shalman devastated Beth-arbel in the day of battle, when the mother was dashed in pieces on the sons." ¹⁵ Thus will He do to you, house of Israel, in view of the evil of your evil. In the dawn, surely stilled shall be the king of Israel."

⁵ Yet you must not inquire of Bethel, and to Gilgal you shall not come, and to Beer-sheba you shall not pass, for Gilgal shall verily be deported, and Bethel shall come to lawlessness." ⁶ Inquire of Yahweh and live, lest He should prosper as fire in the house of Joseph, and it devours, and no one is quenching it for the house of Israel."
