Hosts, For their land has been full of guilt, Against the Holy One of Israel." ⁶ Flee you from the midst of Babylon, And deliver you each his soul, Be not cut off in its iniquity, For a time of vengeance it [is] to Yahweh, Recompence He is rendering to her." ⁷ A golden cup [is] Babylon in the hand of Yahweh, Making drunk all the earth, Of its wine drunk have nations, Therefore boast themselves do nations." ⁸ Suddenly has Babylon fallen, Yea, it is broken, howl you for it, Take balm for her pain, if so be it may be healed." ⁹ We healed Babylon, and she was not healed, Forsake her, and we go, each to his land, For come unto the heavens has its judgment, And it has been lifted up unto the clouds." ¹⁰ Yahweh has brought forth our righteousnesses, Come, and we recount in Zion the work of Yahweh our Elohim." ¹¹ Cleanse you the arrows, fill the shields, Stirred up has Yahweh the spirit of the kings of Madia, For against Babylon His device [is] to destroy it, For the vengeance of Yahweh it [is], The vengeance of His temple." ¹² Unto the walls of Babylon lift up an ensign, Strengthen the watch, Establish the watchers, prepare the ambush, For Yahweh has both devised and done that which He spoke, Concerning the inhabitants of Babylon." ¹³ O dweller on many waters, abundant in treasures, Come in has your end, the measure of your dishonest gain." ¹⁴ Sworn has Yahweh of Hosts by Himself, That, Surely I have filled you [with] men as the cankerworm, And they have cried against you--shouting." ¹⁵ The maker of earth by His power, The establisher of the world by His wisdom, Who by His understanding stretched out the heavens, ¹⁶ At the voice He gives forth, A multitude of waters [are] in the heavens, And He causes vapours to come up from the end of the earth, Lightnings for rain He has made, And He brings out wind from His treasures." ¹⁷ Brutish has been every man by knowledge, Put to shame has been every refiner by a graven image, For false [is] his molten image, And there is no breath in them." ¹⁸ Vanity [are] they--work of errors, In the time of their inspection they perish." ¹⁹ Not like these [is] the portion of Jacob, For He [is] former of all things, And [Israel is] the rod of His inheritance, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name." ²⁰ An axe [are] you to me--weapons of war, And I have broken in pieces by you nations, And I have destroyed by you kingdoms, ²¹ And I have broken in pieces by you horse and its rider, And I have broken in pieces by you chariot and its charioteer, ²² And I have broken in pieces by you man and woman, And I have broken in pieces by you old and young, And I have broken in pieces by you young man and virgin, ²³ And I have broken in pieces by you shepherd and his drove, And I have broken in pieces by you husbandman and his team, And I have broken in pieces by you governors and prefects." ²⁴ And I have recompensed to Babylon, And to all inhabitants of Chaldea, All the evil that they have done in Zion, Before your eyes--an affirmation of Yahweh." ²⁵ Lo, I [am] against you, O destroying mount, An affirmation of Yahweh, That is destroying all the earth, And I have stretched out My hand against you, And I have rolled you from the rocks, And given you for a burnt mountain." ²⁶ And they take not out of you a stone for a corner, And a stone for foundations, For desolations eonian are you, An affirmation of Yahweh." ²⁷ Lift you up an ensign in the land, Blow a trumpet among nations, Sanctify against it nations, Summon against it the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz, Appoint against it an infant head, Cause the horse to ascend as the rough cankerworm." ²⁸ Sanctify against it the nations with the kings of Media, Its governors and all its prefects, And all the land of its dominion." ²⁹ And shake does the land, and it is pained, For stood against Babylon have the purposes of Yahweh, To make the land of Babylon a desolation without inhabitant." ³⁰ Ceased have the mighty of Babylon to fight, They have remained in strongholds, Failed has their might, they have become woman, They have burnt her tabernacles, Broken have been her bars." ³¹ Runner to meet runner does run, And announcer to meet announcer, To announce to the king of Babylon, For, captured has been his city--at the extremity." ³² And the passages have been captured, And the reeds they have burnt with fire, And the men of war have been troubled." ³³ For thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, The daughter of Babylon [is] as a threshing-floor, The time of her threshing--yet a little, And come has the time of her harvest." ³⁴ Devoured us, crushed us, has Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, He has set us [as] an empty vessel, He has swallowed us as a dragon, He has filled his belly with my dainties, He has driven us away." ³⁵ My wrong, and [that of] my flesh [is] on Babylon, Say does the inhabitant of Zion, And my blood [is] on the inhabitants of Chaldea, Say does Jerusalem." ³⁶ Therefore, thus said Yahweh:Lo, I am pleading your cause, And I have avenged your vengeance, And dried up its sea, and made its fountains dry." ³⁷ And Babylon has been for heaps, A habitation of dragons, An astonishment, and a hissing, without inhabitant." ³⁸ Together as young lions they roar, They have shaken themselves as lions' whelps." ³⁹ In their heat I make their banquets, And I have caused them to drink, so that they exult, And have slept a sleep eonian, And awake not--an affirmation of Yahweh." ⁴⁰ I cause them to go down as lambs to slaughter, As rams with he-goats." ⁴¹ How has Sheshach been captured, Yea, caught is the praise of the whole earth, How has Babylon been for an astonishment among nations." ⁴² Come up against Babylon has the sea, With a multitude of its billows it has been covered." ⁴³ Its cities have been for a desolation, A dry land, and a wilderness, A land--none does dwell in them, Nor pass over into them does a son of man." ⁴⁴ And I have seen after Bel in Babylon, And I have brought forth that which he swallowed--from his mouth, And flow no more unto him do nations, Also the wall of Babylon has fallen." ⁴⁵ Go forth from its midst, O My people, And deliver you, each his soul, Because of the fierceness of the anger of Yahweh, ⁴⁶ And lest your heart be tender, And you be afraid of the report that is heard in the land, And come in a year has the report, And after it in a year the report, And violence [is] in the land, ruler against ruler;" ⁴⁷ Therefore, lo, days are coming, And I have seen after the graven images of Babylon. And all its land is ashamed, And all its pierced ones do fall in its midst." ⁴⁸ And cried aloud against Babylon Have heavens and earth, and all that [is] in them, For, from the north come to it do the spoilers, An affirmation of Yahweh." ⁴⁹ Even Babylon [is] to fall, you pierced of Israel, Even they of Babylon have fallen, You pierced of all the earth." ⁵⁰ You escaped of the sword, go on, stand not, Remember you from afar Yahweh, And let Jerusalem come up on your heart." ⁵¹ We have been ashamed, for we heard reproach, Covered has shame our faces, For come in have strangers, against the sanctuaries of the house of Yahweh." ⁵² Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Yahweh, And I have seen after its graven images, And in all its land groan does the wounded." ⁵³ Because Babylon goes up to the heavens, And because it fences the high place of its strength, From Me come into it do spoilers, An affirmation of Yahweh." ⁵⁴ A voice of a cry [is] from Babylon, And of great destruction from the land of the Chaldean." ⁵⁵ For Yahweh is spoiling Babylon, And has destroyed out of it a great voice, And sounded have its billows as many waters, Given forth a noise has their voice." ⁵⁶ For come in against it--against Babylon--has a spoiler, And captured have been its mighty ones, Broken have been their bows, For the El of recompences--Yahweh--does certainly repay." ⁵⁷ And I have caused its princes to drink, And its wise men, its governors, And its prefects, and its mighty ones, And they have slept a sleep eonian, And they awake not--an affirmation of the king, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name." ⁵⁸ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, the wall of Babylon--The broad one--is utterly made bare, And her high gates with fire are burnt, And peoples labor in vain, And nations in fire, and have been weary!" ⁵⁹ The word that Jeremiah the prophet has commanded Seraiah son of Neriah, son of Maaseiah, in his going with Zedekiah king of Judah to Babylon, in the fourth year of his reign--and Seraiah [is] a quiet prince;" ⁶⁰ and Jeremiah writes all the evil that comes unto Babylon on one book--all these words that are written concerning Babylon. ⁶¹ And Jeremiah said unto Seraiah, `When you do enter Babylon, then you have seen, and have read all these words, ⁶² and have said:Yahweh, You, You have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that there is none dwelling in it, from man even unto cattle, for it is a desolation eonian." ⁶³ And it has come to pass, when you do finish reading this book, you do bind to it a stone, and have cast it into the midst of Phrat, ⁶⁴ and said, Thus sink does Babylon, and it does not arise, because of the evil that I am bringing in against it, and they have been weary.' Hitherto [are] words of Jeremiah."

¹ 1Created by the Elohim were the heavens and the earth. ² Yet the earth became a chaos and vacant, and darkness was on the surface of the submerged chaos. Yet the spirit of the Elohim is vibrating over the surface of the water. ³ And saying is the Elohim, "Become light!" And it is becoming light. ⁴ And seeing is the Elohim the light, that it is good. And separating is the Elohim between the light and the darkness. ⁵ And calling is the Elohim the light "day, and the darkness He calls "night." And coming is it to be evening and coming to be morning, day one. ⁶ And saying is the Elohim, "Become shall an atmosphere in the midst of the water, and coming is a separation between water and water.

¹³ And saying is the Elohim to Noah, "The era of the end of all human flesh is come before Me, for full is the earth with wrong because of their presence. Now behold Me ruining them with the earth.

¹ Now mindful is the Elohim of Noah and every living animal and every beast and every flyer and every moving animal which is with him in the ark. And the Elohim is causing a wind to pass over the earth, and subsiding are the waters.

⁴ And resting is the ark in the seventh month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

⁴ And saying are they, "Prithee! Build will we for ourselves a city and a tower with its head in the heavens, and make for ourselves a name, lest we are scattering over the surface of the entire earth.

"Rise! Forth from this place, for ruining is Yahweh the city!"And becoming is he as one making fun, in the eyes of his sons-in law. ¹⁵ And as dawn ascends, then rushing are the messengers Lot, saying, "Rise! Take your wife and your two daughters, who are found, and come out, lest you be swept up in the depravity of the city.

⁵ Now, if you shall hearken, yea hearken to My voice and observe My covenant then you will become Mine, a special possession, above all the peoples, for Mine is all the earth. ⁶ As for you, you shall become Mine, a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the sons of Israel.

²⁶ He spoke to the congregation, saying:Withdraw, I pray, from the tents of these wicked men! Do not touch anything which belongs to them lest you be swept up in all their sins.

²⁹ Yet from there you will seek Yahweh your Elohim and find Him when you inquire for Him with all your heart and with all your soul. ³⁰ In your distress, when all these things find you in the latter days, then you will return to Yahweh your Elohim and hearken to His voice. ³¹ For Yahweh your Elohim is a compassionate El. He shall neither neglect you nor bring ruin on you, nor shall He forget the covenant of your fathers about which He had sworn to them.

³⁷ You will become an object of astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the peoples where Yahweh shall lead you.

¹ It will come to be, when all these things come on you, the blessing and the malediction which I put before you, that you will recall them to your heart among all the nations where Yahweh your Elohim will have expelled yo. ² and that you will return again to Yahweh your Elohim and hearken to His voice according to all that I am instructing you today, you and your sons, with all your heart and with all your soul. ³ Then Yahweh your Elohim will turn back your captivity and show compassion to you; He will return and convene you from all the peoples where Yahweh your Elohim will have scattered you. ⁴ If it comes to be that you should be expelled to the end of the heavens, from there Yahweh your Elohim shall convene you, and from there He shall take you.

⁹ For the portion of Yahweh is His people; Jacob is the line of His allotment.

²⁵ From the outside, the sword shall bereave, and from the chambers, the dread of war, even for the man in his prime, even for the virgin, the suckling along with the grey-haired man.

³⁵ for the day of vengeance and repayment, for the season when their foot shall slip? For the day of their calamity is near, and impending doom hurries upon them.

⁴¹ when I whet My flashing sword and My hand lays hold on judgment, I shall return vengeance to My foes, and to My haters shall I make repayment.

⁴³ Jubilate, O heavens, together with Him, and worship Him, all the messengers of Elohim! Jubilate, O nations, with His people! For the blood of His servants shall He avenge, vengeance to His foes shall He return, and a propitiatory shelter shall He make for the ground of His people.

¹⁴ And it comes to pass, when the king of Ai sees [it], that hasten, and rise early, and go out do the men of the city to meet Israel for battle, he and all his people, at the appointed season, at the front of the plain, and he has not known that an ambush [is] against him, on the rear of the city.

⁷ and Adoni-Bezek said, `Seventy kings--their thumbs and their great toes cut off--have been gathering under my table; as I have done so has Elohim repaid to me;' and they bring him in to Jerusalem, and he dies there.

⁵ for they and their cattle come up, with their tents; they come in as the fulness of the locust for multitude, and of them and of their cattle there is no number, and they come into the land to destroy it.

²² and the three hundred blow the trumpets, and Yahweh sets the sword of each against his companion, even through all the camp; and the camp flees unto Beth-Shittah, at Zererath, unto the border of Abel-Meholah, by Tabbath.

²⁰ and if not--fire comes out from Abimelech and devours the masters of Shechem and the house of Millo, and fire comes out from the masters of Shechem and from the house of Millo, and devours Abimelech..

²⁴ for the coming in of the violence [to] the seventy sons of Jerubbaal, and of their blood to place [it] on Abimelech their brother, who slew them, and on the masters of Shechem, who strengthened his hands to slay his brethren.

⁵⁶ and Elohim turns back the evil of Abimelech which he did to his father to slay his seventy brethren; ⁵⁷ and all the evil of the men of Shechem has Elohim turned back on their head, and come unto them does the cursing of Jotham son of Jerubbaal.

²⁰ and she said, `Philistines [are] upon you, Samson;' and he awakes out of his sleep, and said, `I go out as time by time, and shake myself;' and he has not known that Yahweh has turned aside from off him.

⁴ Bows of the mighty are broken, And the stumbling have girded on strength.

And the man hasted, and comes in, and declares to Eli. <sup>15</sup> And Eli is a son of ninety and eight years, and his eyes have stood, and he has not been able to see. <sup>16</sup> And the man said unto Eli, `I [am] he who has come out of the ranks, and I out of the ranks have fled to-day;' and he said, `What has been the matter, my son?. <sup>17</sup> And he who is bearing tidings answers and said, `Israel has fled before the Philistines, and also a great slaughter has been among the people, and also your two sons have died--Hophni and Phinehas--and the ark of Elohim has been captured.. ¹⁸ And it comes to pass, at his mentioning the ark of Elohim, that he falls from off the throne backward, by the side of the gate, and his neck is broken, and he dies, for the man [is] old and heavy, and he has judged Israel forty years.

³ Now, go, and you have smitten Amalek, and devoted all that it has, and you have no pity on it, and have put to death from man unto woman, from infant unto suckling, from ox unto sheep, from camel unto ass..

¹⁹ And Ahimaaz son of Zadok said, `Let me run, I pray you, and I bear the king tidings, for Yahweh has delivered him out of the hand of his enemies;. <sup>20</sup> and Joab said to him, `You are not a man of tidings this day, but you have borne tidings on another day, and this day you do not bear tidings, because the king's son [is] dead.. ²¹ And Joab said to Cushi, `Go, declare to the king that which you have seen;' and Cushi bows himself to Joab, and runs. <sup>22</sup> And Ahimaaz son of Zadok adds again, and said unto Joab, `And whatever it be, let me run, I pray you, I also, after the Cushite.' And Joab said, `Why [is] this--you are running, my son, and for you there are no tidings found?' -. <sup>23</sup> `And, whatever it be, [said he,] let me run.' And he said to him, `Run;' and Ahimaaz runs the way of the circuit, and passes by the Cushite. <sup>24</sup> And David is sitting between the two gates, and the watchman goes unto the roof of the gate, unto the wall, and lifts up his eyes, and looks, and lo, a man running by himself. <sup>25</sup> And the watchman calls, and declares to the king, and the king said, `If by himself, tidings [are] in his mouth;' and he comes, coming on and drawing near. ²⁶ And the watchman sees another man running, and the watchman calls unto the gatekeeper, and said, `Lo, a man running by himself;' and the king said, `Also this one is bearing tidings.. ²⁷ And the watchman said, `I see the running of the first as the running of Ahimaaz son of Zadok.' And the king said, `This [is] a good man, and with good tidings he comes.. ²⁸ And Ahimaaz calls and said unto the king, `Peace;' and he bows himself to the king, on his face, to the earth, and said, `Blessed [is] Yahweh your Elohim who has shut up the men who lifted up their hand against my lord the king.. ²⁹ And the king said, `Peace to the youth--to Absalom?' And Ahimaaz said, `I saw the great multitude, at the sending away of the servant of the king, even your servant [by] Joab, and I have not known what [it is].. ³⁰ And the king said, `Turn round, station yourself here;' and he turns round and stands still. <sup>31</sup> And lo, the Cushite has come, and the Cushite said, `Let tidings be proclaimed, my lord, O king; for Yahweh has delivered you to-day out of the hand of all those rising up against you..

¹⁴ And Yahweh raises up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; of the seed of the king [is] he in Edom;"

²³ And Elohim raises to him an adversary, Rezon son of Eliadah, who has fled from Hadadezer king of Zobah, his lord,

⁷ Lo, I am giving in him a spirit, and he has heard a report, and has turned back to his land, and I have caused him to fall by the sword in his land..

³⁷ and it comes to pass, he is bowing himself in the house of Nisroch his elohim, and Adramelech and Sharezar [his sons] have smitten him with the sword, and they have escaped to the land of Ararat, and Esar-Haddon his son reigns in his stead.

¹⁶ And also, innocent blood has Manasseh shed very much, till that he has filled Jerusalem--mouth to mouth; apart from his sin that he has caused Judah to sin, to do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh.

²¹ `And this house that has been high, to every one passing by it, is an astonishment, and he has said, Wherefore has Yahweh done thus to this land, and to this house?

²³ and the sons of Ammon stand up, and Moab, against the inhabitants of mount Seir, to devote and to destroy, and at their finishing with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped, a man against his neighbor, to destroy.

⁹ And there has been there a prophet of Yahweh (Oded [is] his name), and he goes out before the host that has come in to Samaria, and said to them, `Lo, in the fury of Yahweh Elohim of your fathers against Judah, He has given them into your hand, and you slay among them in rage--unto the heavens it has come;"

⁸ and the wrath of Yahweh is on Judah and Jerusalem, and He gives them for a trembling, for an astonishment, and for a hissing, as you are seeing with your eyes.

⁶ And the runners go with letters from the hand of the king and his heads, into all Israel and Judah, even according to the command of the king, saying, `O sons of Israel, turn back unto Yahweh, Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and He does turn back unto the escaped part that is left of you from the hand of the kings of Asshur;"

⁷ And of the vessels of the house of Yahweh has Nebuchadnezzar brought in to Babylon, and puts them in his temple in Babylon.

¹⁷ And He causes to go up against them the king of the Chaldeans, and he slays their chosen ones by the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and has had no pity on young man and virgin, old man and very aged--the whole He has given into his hand.

²² And in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, at the completion of the word of Yahweh in the mouth of Jeremiah, has Yahweh waked up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he causes an intimation to pass over into all his kingdom, and also in writing, saying,

¹ In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to conclude the word of Yahweh from the mouth of Jeremiah, Yahweh roused the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia so that he caused a notification to pass through all his kingdom, and also in writing, saying,

³ Anyone among you of all His people, may his Elohim be with him. Let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and let him rebuild the House of Yahweh Elohim of Israel. He is the One, Elohim, Who is in Jerusalem. ⁴ As for anyone that is remaining from all the places where he is sojourning, let the men of his place assist him with silver and with gold, with goods and beasts, along with the voluntary offering for the House of the One, Elohim, Who is in Jerusalem. ⁵ The patriarchal heads of Judah and Benjamin arose, also the priests and the Levites, with everyone whose spirit the One, Elohim, had roused to go up to rebuild the House of Yahweh Who is in Jerusalem.

⁷ As for king Cyrus, he brought forth the articles of the House of Yahweh which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth from Jerusalem and had put them in the house of his idol. ⁸ Cyrus king of Persia brought them forth by the hand of the treasurer Mithredath who counted them off to Sheshbazzar prince of Judah.

¹³ And you are forgetting Yahweh, your Maker, the One Who stretches out the heavens, and Founder of the earth. And you are afraid continually, the entire day, in view of the fury of the constrainer? As he prepares to ruin. Yet where is the fury of the constrainer?

²² Thus says your Lord Yahweh, and your Elohim, who is contending for His people, "Behold! I take from your hand the tremorous cup, the dregs of the cup of My fury. You are not continuing to drink it any longer, ²³ and I place it in the hand of your afflictors and your humblers, who say to your soul, `Prostrate, and we will pass.' And you are placing your body as the earth, and as a street for passers."

³ For right and left shall you breach, and your seed shall tenant nations, and the desolated cities shall be indwelt." ⁴ You must not fear, for you are not shamed, and you must not be confounded, for you shall not be abashed. For the shame of your adolescence will you forget, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no longer." ⁵ For your Possessor is your Maker. Yahweh of hosts is His name. ³ The arrogance of your heart lures you, O tabernacler in the holes of the crag. A height is his dwelling; he is saying in his heart, Who will bring me down to earth? ⁴ If you are elevated as the vulture, and if your nest is placed between the stars, thence will I bring you down (averring is Yahweh)."
