²⁰ Verily, verily, I am saying to you that you shall be lamenting and wailing, yet the world will be rejoicing; yet you shall be sorrowed, but your sorrow shall become joy."

⁵ That the jubilation of the wicked is brief, And the rejoicing of the polluted lasts but a moment?

⁵ For there is only a moment under His anger But a lifetime under His benevolence. In the evening, lamentation may lodge, But in the morning there is jubilant song."

¹¹ You have turned my wailing into fluting for me. You have unloosed my sackcloth And are belting me with rejoicing,

¹ {A Davidic Psalm{ Expectantly I have expected Yahweh, And He stretched out to me and heard my imploring;" ² He brought me up from the cistern of tumult, From the miry mud; Then He raised my feet upon a crag; He has established my movement." ³ Now He is putting a new song in my mouth, A hymn of praise to our Elohim. Many shall see it and shall fear, And they shall trust in Yahweh."

¹¹ Light radiates on the righteous, And rejoicing on the upright of heart."

⁵ Those who sow with tears, With jubilant song shall they reap." ⁶ Going out, he goes with weeping, Bearing the drawbag of seed; Coming in, he comes with jubilant song, Bearing his grain-sheaves."

¹ And you will say, in that day, "I am acclaiming You, Yahweh, for You wast angry with me, yet reversing is Your anger, and You are comforting me."

⁸ He swallows up death permanently. And my Lord Yahweh will wipe every tear off of all faces, and the reproach of His people will He take away off all the earth, for the mouth of Yahweh speaks." ⁹ And they will say in that day, "Behold! This is Yahweh, our Elohim. We expected Him, and He will save us! This is Yahweh! We expected Him, and we will exult! And we will rejoice in His salvation,

³ to give rejoicing to the mourners of Zion, to give to them beauty instead of ashes, the oil of elation instead of mourning, the muffler of praise instead of dimness of spirit. And they are called arbiters of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, to beautify Himself."

⁵ Hear the word of Yahweh, you who tremble at His word, "Say do your brethren, who are hating you, who are isolating you on account of My name, `Yahweh will be glorified!' Yet He will appear in your rejoicing, and they shall be ashamed."

⁹ With weeping they come in, And with supplications I bring them, I cause them to go unto streams of waters, In a right way--they stumble not in it, For I have been to Israel for a father, And Ephraim--My first-born [is] he." ¹⁰ Hear a word of Yahweh, O nations, And declare you among isles afar off, and say:He who is scattering Israel does gather him, And has kept him as a shepherd [does] his flock, ¹¹ For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, And redeemed him from a hand stronger than he." ¹² And they have come in, And have sung in the high place of Zion, And flowed unto the goodness of Yahweh, For wheat, and for new wine, and for oil, And for the young of the flock and herd, And their soul has been as a watered garden, And they add not to grieve any more." ¹³ Then rejoice does a virgin in a chorus, Both young men and old men--together, And I have turned their mourning to joy, And have comforted them, And gladdened them above their sorrow, ¹⁴ And satisfied the soul of the priests [with] fatness, And My people with My goodness are satisfied, An affirmation of Yahweh."

²⁵ For I have satiated the weary soul, And every grieved soul I have filled.'"

⁴ "Happy are those who mourn now, for they shall be consoled.

³⁸ Yet the farmers, perceiving the son, said among themselves, 'This is the enjoyer of the allotment. Hither! We should be killing him and have the enjoyment of his allotment.'"

³⁹ Now those going by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads" ⁴⁰ and saying, "You who are demolishing the temple and building it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, descend from the cross!" ⁴¹ Likewise the chief priests also, with the scribes and elders, scoffing, said, ⁴² Others he saves! Himself he can not save! If he is king of Israel, let him descend now from the cross, and we will believe on him!" ⁴³ He has confidence in God. Let Him rescue him now, if He is wanting him, for he said that 'God's Son am I!'" ⁴⁴ Now with the same, the robbers also, who are crucified together with Him, reproached Him."

⁶² Now, on the morrow which is after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered to Pilate, ⁶³ saying, "Lord, we are reminded that that deceiver said while still living, 'After three days shall I be roused.'" ⁶⁴ Then order the sepulcher to be secured till the third day, lest at some time his disciples, coming, should be stealing him and may be saying to the people, 'He was roused from the dead,' and the last deception will be worse than the first." ⁶⁵ Yet Pilate averred to them, "You have a detail. Go, make it secure, as you are aware." ⁶⁶ Now they, being gone, secure the sepulcher, sealing the stone, with the detail."

⁷² And, straightway, a second time, a cock crows. And Peter recollects the declaration, as Jesus said to him that "Ere a cock crows twice, thrice you will be renouncing Me.And, reflecting, he lamented."

²⁹ And those going by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, "Aha! You who are demolishing the temple and building it in three days, ³⁰ save yourself by descending from the cross!" ³¹ Likewise, the chief priests also, with the scribes, scoffing with one another, said, "Others he saves! Himself he can not save!" ³² Let the Christ, the king of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may be perceiving and should be believing!And those crucified together with Him reproached Him."

¹⁰ She, being gone, reports to those coming to be with Him, who are mourning and lamenting."

²¹ Happy are those hungering now, for you shall be satisfied. Happy are those lamenting now, for you shall be laughing."

⁴⁵ And, rising from prayer, coming to the disciples, He found them reposing from sorrow."

⁶² And coming outside, Peter laments bitterly."

²⁷ Now there followed Him a vast multitude of the people and of women who grieved and wailed over Him.

⁴⁷ Now the centurion, perceiving what is occurring, glorified God, saying that, "Really, this Man was just!" ⁴⁸ And all the throngs which came along together to behold this, beholding the occurrences, beating their chests, returned." ⁴⁹ Now all those known to Him, and the women who follow with Him from Galilee, stood afar off, seeing these things."

¹⁷ Now He said to them, "What words are these which you are bandying one with another while walking?And they stood with a sad countenance."

²¹ Yet we expected that He is the One about to be redeeming Israel. But surely, together with all these things also, it is leading in this third day since these things occurred."

⁶ But, seeing that I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart."

³³ These things have I spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have affliction. But courage! I have conquered the world."

²⁵ Now there stood beside the cross of Jesus His mother and the sister of His mother, Mary of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene." ²⁶ Jesus, then, perceiving His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing by, is saying to His mother, "Woman, lo! your son!" ²⁷ Thereafter He is saying to the disciple, "Lo! your mother!And from that hour the disciple took her to his own."

²⁰ And saying this, He shows them His hands also, and His side. The disciples, then, rejoiced at perceiving the Lord."

⁴⁶ Besides persevering day by day with one accord in the sanctuary, besides breaking bread home by home, they partook of nourishment with exultation and simplicity of heart, ⁴⁷ praising God and having favor for the whole people. Now the Lord added those being saved day by day in the same place.

⁴¹ They, indeed, then, went from the face of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were deemed worthy to be dishonored for the sake of the Name."

² through Whom we have the access also, by faith, into this grace in which we stand, and we may be glorying in expectation of the glory of God." ³ Yet not only so, but we may be glorying also in afflictions, having perceived that affliction is producing endurance,

¹¹ Yet not only so, but we are glorying also in God, through our Lord, Jesus Christ, through Whom we now obtained the conciliation."

¹⁰ as sorrowing, yet ever rejoicing, as poor, yet enriching many, as having nothing, and retaining all."

²² Now the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

⁶ And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, receiving the word in much affliction with joy of holy spirit,

¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, our Father, Who loves us, and is giving us an eonian consolation and a good expectation in grace, ¹⁷ be consoling your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.

² All joy deem it, my brethren, whenever you should be falling into various trials,

⁶ in which you are exulting; briefly at present, if it must be, being sorrowed by various trials, ⁷ that the testing of your faith, much more precious than gold which is perishing, yet, being tested by fire, may be found for applause and glory and honor at the unveiling of Jesus Christ, ⁸ Whom, not perceiving, you are loving; in Whom, not seeing at present, yet believing, you are exulting with joy unspeakable and glorious,

²⁴ Now to Him Who is able to guard you from tripping, and to stand you flawless in sight of His glory, in exultation,

¹⁴ And I have declared to him: "My lord, you are aware.And he said to me, "These are those coming out of the great affliction. And they rinse their robes, and they whiten them in the blood of the Lambkin." ¹⁵ Therefore they are before the throne of God and are offering divine service to Him day and night in His temple. And He Who is sitting on the throne will be tabernacling over them. ¹⁶ They shall not be hungering longer, nor yet shall they be thirsting any longer; no, neither should the sun be falling on them, nor any heat, ¹⁷ seeing that the throne-centered Lambkin shall be shepherding them, and shall be guiding them to living springs of water, and every tear shall God be brushing away from their eyes."

¹⁰ And those dwelling on the earth are rejoicing over them and are making merry, and will be sending approach presents to one another, seeing that these two prophets torment those dwelling on the earth."

⁷ As much as she glorifies herself and indulges, so much torment and mourning be giving her, for she is saying in her heart, 'I am sitting a queen, and am no widow, and mourning I may by no means see.'"
