⁷ And they are saying, each man to his associate, Go, and let us cast lots that we may know on whose account this evil is with us. So they are casting lots, and the lot is falling on Jonah."

²³ Yet if you shall not do so, behold, you will have sinned against Yahweh; realize that your sin shall find you.

¹⁰ And Yahweh said unto Joshua, `Rise for you, why [is] this? --you [are] falling on your face?

¹³ `Rise, sanctify the people, and you have said, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow; for thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, A devoted thing [is] in your midst, O Israel, you are not able to stand before your enemies till your turning aside of the devoted thing out of your midst;" ¹⁴ and you have been brought near in the morning by your tribes, and it has been, the tribe which Yahweh does capture does draw near by families, and the family which Yahweh does capture does draw near by households, and the household which Yahweh does capture does draw near by men;" ¹⁵ and it has been, he who is captured with the devoted thing is burnt with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of Yahweh, and because he has done folly in Israel.. ¹⁶ And Joshua rises early in the morning, and brings Israel near by its tribes, and the tribe of Judah is captured;" ¹⁷ and he brings near the family of Judah, and he captures the family of the Zarhite; and he brings near the family of the Zarhite by men, and Zabdi is captured;" ¹⁸ and he brings near his household by men, and Achan--son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah--is captured.

¹⁶ `Thus said all the company of Yahweh, What [is] this trespass which you have trespassed against the Elohim of Israel, to turn back to-day from after Yahweh, by your building for you an altar, for your rebelling to-day against Yahweh? <sup>17</sup> Is the iniquity of Peor little to us, from which we have not been cleansed till this day--and the plague is in the company of Yahweh, <sup>18</sup> that you turn back to-day from after Yahweh? and it has been--you rebel to-day against Yahweh--and to-morrow against all the company of Israel He is wroth. <sup>19</sup> `And surely, if the land of your possession is unclean, pass over for you unto the land of the possession of Yahweh, where the tabernacle of Yahweh has tabernacled, and have possession in our midst; and against Yahweh rebel not, and against us rebel not, by your building for you an altar, besides the altar of Yahweh our Elohim. ²⁰ Did not Achan son of Zerah commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and on all the company of Israel there was wrath? and he alone expired not in his iniquity..

¹³ And Gideon comes in, and lo, a man is recounting to his companion a dream, and said, `Lo, a dream I have dreamed, and lo, a cake of barley-bread is turning itself over into the camp of Midian, and it comes in unto the tent, and smites it, and it falls, and turns it upwards, and the tent has fallen.. <sup>14</sup> And his companion answers and said, `This is nothing save the sword of Gideon son of Joash, a man of Israel; Elohim has given into his hand Midian and all the camp..

⁹ and now, this [is] the thing which we do to Gibeah--against it by lot!" ¹⁰ and we have taken ten men of a hundred, of all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred of a thousand, and a thousand of a myriad, to receive provision for the people, to do, at their coming to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly which it has done in Israel..

²⁰ And Samuel brings near the whole tribes of Israel, and the tribe of Benjamin is captured, ²¹ and he brings near the tribe of Benjamin by its families, and the family of Matri is captured, and Saul son of Kish is captured, and they seek him, and he has not been found.

³⁸ And Saul said, `Draw you nigh hither all, the chiefs of the people, and know and see in what this sin has been to-day;" ³⁹ for, Yahweh lives, who is saving Israel:surely if it be in Jonathan my son, surely he does certainly die;' and none is answering him out of all the people.

⁴¹ And Saul said unto Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, `Give perfection;' and Jonathan and Saul are captured, and the people went out. <sup>42</sup> And Saul said, `Cast between me and Jonathan my son;' and Jonathan is captured.

⁷ In the first month, that is, the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Xerxes, someone cast pur (that is, the lot) before Haman from day to day and from month to month, to the twelfth, that is, the month of Adar.

² I shall say to Eloah, O do not condemn me! Let me know for what reason You contend with me!"

¹⁸ They apportion my garments among themselves, And they cast the lot for my clothing."

³³ It is the lot that is cast forth in the bosom; Yet from Yahweh is its every judgment.

⁶ Each man is helping his associate, and to his brother is he saying, `Courage!'" <sup>7</sup> And the artificer is encouraging the refiner, the apportioner with the sledge, the hammerer on the anvil. One says of the soldering, `It is good!' And one is fortifying it with nails that it will not slip."

³⁵ Now, crucifying Him, they divide His garments, casting the lot."

²³ And they nominate two, Joseph, called Bar-Sabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias." ²⁴ And praying, they say, "Thou, Lord, Knower of all hearts, indicate one whom Thou choosest, ²⁵ out of these two to take the place of this dispensation and apostleship, from which Judas transgressed, to be gone into his own place." ²⁶ And they give lots for them, and the lot falls on Matthias, and he is enumerated with the eleven apostles."

¹⁹ And, pulling down seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributes their land by lot"

⁵ So that, be not judging anything before the season, till the Lord should be coming, Who will also illuminate the hidden things of darkness and manifest the counsels of the hearts. And then applause will be coming to each one from God."
