1 And Joshua son of Nun sends from Shittim, two men, spies, silently, saying, `Go, see the land--and Jericho;' and they go and come into the house of a woman, a harlot, and her name [is] Rahab, and they lie down there. 2 And it is told to the king of Jericho, saying, `Lo, men have come in hither to-night, from the sons of Israel, to search the land. 3 And the king of Jericho sends unto Rahab, saying, `Bring out the men who are coming in unto you, who have come into your house, for to search the whole of the land they have come in. 4 And the woman takes the two men, and hides them, and said thus:`The men came in unto me, and I have not known whence they [are];" 5 and it comes to pass--the gate is to [be] shut--in the dark, and the men have gone out; I have not known whither the men have gone; pursue you, hasten after them, for you overtake them;. 6 and she has caused them to go up on the roof, and hides them with the flax wood, which is arranged for her on the roof. 7 And the men have pursued after them the way of the Jordan, by the fords, and the gate they have shut afterwards, when the pursuers have gone out after them. 8 And--before they lie down--she has gone up unto them on the roof, 9 and she said unto the men, `I have known that Yahweh has given to you the land, and that your terror has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have melted at your presence. 10 `For we have heard how Yahweh dried up the waters of the Red Sea at your presence, in your going out of Egypt, and that which you have done to the two kings of the Amorite who [are] beyond the Jordan; to Sihon and to Og whom you devoted. 11 And we hear, and melt does our heart, and there has not stood any more spirit in [any] man, from your presence, for Yahweh your Elohim, He [is] Elohim in the heavens above, and on the earth beneath. 12 `And now, swear you, I pray you, to me by Yahweh--because I have done with you kindness--that you have done, even you, kindness with the house of my father, and have given to me a true token, 13 and have kept alive my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and have delivered our souls from death.. 14 And the men say to her, `Our soul for yours--to die; if you declare not this our matter, then it has been, in Yahweh's giving to us this land, that we have done with you kindness and truth.. 15 And she causes them to go down by a rope through the window, for her house [is] in the side of the wall, and in the wall she [is] dwelling;" 16 and she said to them, `To the mountain go, lest the pursuers come upon you; and you have been hidden there three days till the turning back of the pursuers, and afterwards you go on your way.. 17 And the men say unto her, `We are acquitted of this your oath which you have caused us to swear. 18 lo, we are coming into the land, this line of scarlet thread you do bind to the window by which you have caused us to go down, and your father, and your mother, and your brethren, and all the house of your father you do gather unto you, to the house;" 19 and it has been, any one who goes out from the doors of your house without, his blood [is] on his head, and we are innocent; and any one who is with you in the house, his blood [is] on our head, if a hand is on him;" 20 and if you declare this our matter, then we have been acquitted from your oath which you have caused us to swear.. 21 And she said, `According unto your words, so it [is];' and she sends them away, and they go; and she binds the scarlet line to the window. 22 And they go, and come in to the mountain, and abide there three days until the pursuers have turned back; and the pursuers seek in all the way, and have not found. 23 And the two men turn back, and come down from the hill, and pass over, and come in unto Joshua son of Nun, and recount to him all that has come upon them;" 24 and they say unto Joshua, `Surely Yahweh has given into our hand all the land; and also, all the inhabitants of the land have melted at our presence..

And forth are they bringing him, and leaving him outside the city. 17 And coming is it, as they bring them forth outside. They are saying also, "Be sure to escape with your soul! You must not look behind you, and you must not stand in any part of the basin. Escape to the mountain, lest you be swept up!"

Exodus 12:13

13 Then the blood will become a sign for you on the houses where you are. When I see the blood I will pass over you. And there shall not come to be a stroke on you to cause ruin when I smite in the land of Egypt.

Exodus 12:23

23 When Yahweh passes through to strike the Egyptians and sees the blood on the lintel and on the two jambs then Yahweh will pass over the portal and shall not allow the ruiner to enter into your houses to strike.

Then the Egyptians said: Let me flee from the face of Israel, for Yahweh, He fights for them against Egypt. 26 Yahweh said to Moses: Stretch out your hand over the sea that the waters may return on the Egyptians, on their chariots and on their horsemen. 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned before morning to its perennial flow, while the Egyptians were fleeing to meet it. Thus Yahweh shook off the Egyptians, in the midst of the sea, 28 for the waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, all the army of Pharaoh which had been entering after them into the sea. Not even one of them remained. 29 Yet the sons of Israel, they went on dry ground in the midst of the sea, and the waters were to them a wall on their right and on their left. 30 Thus Yahweh saved Israel on that day from the hand of Egypt. Then Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the shore of the sea; 31 and Israel discerned the great hand with which Yahweh had done this to Egypt. So the people feared Yahweh and believed in Yahweh and in Moses His servant.

He had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. 27 Therefore those discoursers say:Come to Heshbon, let it be rebuilt, and let the city of Sihon establish itself. 28 For a fire came forth from Heshbon, a blaze from the town of Sihon. It devoured Ar of Moab, the possessors of the fane heights of Arnon. 29 Woe to you, Moab! You have perished, people of Chemosh! He gave up his sons delivered from slaughter, and his daughters into captivity to Sihon, king of the Amorite. 30 We shot them; Heshbon perished as far as Dibon; we caused desolation until the fire was blown as far as Medeba. 31 When Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorite, 32 Moses sent men to spy out Jazer. They seized its outskirts and evicted the Amorite who was there. 33 Then they turned around and went up by the Bashan road. Og king of Bashan went forth to meet them, he and all his people, for battle at Edrei. 34 Now Yahweh said to Moses:Do not fear him, for into your hand I give him and all his people and his land. You will do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorite who was dwelling in Heshbon. 35 So they smote him and his sons and all his people until no survivor at all remained for him; and they tenanted his land.
