⁵² And Abimelech comes unto the tower, and fights against it, and draws nigh unto the opening of the tower to burn it with fire,

⁴⁸ and Abimelech goes up to mount Zalmon, he and all the people who [are] with him, and Abimelech takes the great axe in his hand, and cuts off a bough of the trees, and lifts it up, and sets [it] on his shoulder, and said unto the people who [are] with him, `What you have seen I have done--haste, do you like it.. ⁴⁹ And all the people also cut down each one his bough, and go after Abimelech, and set [them] at the high place, and burn by these the high place with fire, and also all the men of the tower of Shechem die, about a thousand men and women.

¹⁰ You have certainly smitten Edom, and your heart has lifted you up; be honored, and abide in your house; and why do you stir yourself up in evil, that you have fallen, you, and Judah with you?.

¹⁶ Then does Menahem smite Tiphsah, and all who [are] in it, and its borders from Tirzah, for it opened not [to him], and he smites [it], all its pregnant women he has ripped up.
