² In case a man vows a vow to Yahweh or swears an oath to bind a bond on his soul, he shall not profane his word. According to all coming forth from his mouth shall he do.

²⁰ And vowing is Jacob a vow, saying, "Should it be coming that Yahweh Elohim stands by me, and keeps me in this way which I am going, and gives to me bread to eat and a garment to put on, ²¹ and I return in peace to my father's household, then Yahweh becomes my Elohim, ²² and this stone, which I place for a monument, shall become the house of Elohim for me. And of all that You are giving to me, tithe, yea, tithe it will I for You.

⁷ You shall not take up the name of Yahweh your Elohim for futility, for Yahweh shall not hold innocent him who takes up His name for futility.

⁴ or when a soul swears, talking rashly with the lips to do evil or to do good as to anything of which a human talks rashly in an oath, even if it is obscured from him, when he himself realizes it, then he is guilty as to any one of these.

² Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them:In case anyone makes an extraordinary vow to Yahweh, involving your appraisal of human souls. ³ then your appraisal will be for the male from twenty years old unto sixty years old:your appraisal will be fifty shekels of silver, by the shekel of the holy place;" ⁴ and if she is a female, then your appraisal will be thirty shekels. ⁵ If he is from five years old unto twenty years old then your appraisal will be:for the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels. ⁶ If the person is from a month old unto five years old then your appraisal will be:for the male five shekels of silver, and for the female your appraisal will be three shekels of silver. ⁷ If the person is from sixty years old and upward, if a male, then your appraisal will be fifteen shekels and for a female ten shekels. ⁸ Yet if he is too reduced by poverty for your appraisal then one will stand him before the priest, and the priest will appraise him. Corresponding to what the vower's means can afford shall the priest appraise him. ⁹ If the vow involves a domestic beast from which they bring near an approach present to Yahweh, all of what one gives to Yahweh, it shall be holy. ¹⁰ He shall not exchange it nor substitute for it, a good for a bad one or a bad for a good one. And if he should substitute, yea substitute beast for beast, then it has become holy; both it and its substitute shall be holy. ¹¹ If the vow involves any unclean beast of which they may not bring near an approach present to Yahweh, then he will stand the beast before the priest, ¹² and the priest will appraise it as good or bad; according to your appraisal, O priest, so shall it be. ¹³ If he should redeem, yea redeem it then he will add a fifth of its value over your appraisal. ¹⁴ In case a man sanctifies his house to be holy to Yahweh, then the priest will appraise it between good and bad. Just as the priest appraises it, so much shall it cost. ¹⁵ And if the one sanctifying should redeem his house, then he will add a fifth of the silver of your appraisal to it, and it will become his. ¹⁶ If a man should sanctify part of a field of his holding to Yahweh, then your appraisal will be corresponding to its seed, a homer of barley seed to fifty shekels of silver. ¹⁷ If he should sanctify his field from the year of the jubilee, according to your appraisal shall it cost. ¹⁸ Yet if he should sanctify his field after the jubilee, then the priest will compute the silver for him corresponding to the rest of the years until the year of the jubilee so a portion will be subtracted from your first appraisal. ¹⁹ And if the one sanctifying it should redeem, yea, redeem the field, then he will add a fifth of the silver of your appraisal to it, and it will belong to him. ²⁰ But if he should not redeem the field or if he has sold the field to another man it shall not be redeemed again. ²¹ And the field, when it comes forth in the jubilee, will become holy to Yahweh as a devoted field; it shall become the priest's holding. ²² Yet if it is a field of his acquisition, which is not a field of his holding which he sanctifies to Yahweh, ²³ then the priest will compute for him the assessment of your appraisal until the year of the jubilee; and he will pay your appraisal on that day as holy to Yahweh. ²⁴ In the year of the jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom he acquired it, to him whose holding the land is. ²⁵ All of your appraisals shall be by the shekel of the holy place:twenty gerahs shall there be to a shekel. ²⁶ However the firstborn among beasts which as firstborn is devoted to Yahweh, no one may sanctify it; whether a bull or a flockling, it is already Yahweh's. ²⁷ Yet if it is among the unclean beasts, then he will ransom it by your appraisal and add to it a fifth of its value. Should it not be redeemed, then it will be sold by your appraisal. ²⁸ Every devoted thing which a man may devote to Yahweh, of all which is his of human and beast and of the field of his holding, it shall not be sold nor redeemed. Every devoted thing, it will be holy of holies to Yahweh. ²⁹ Every doomed one which is doomed of humanity shall not be ransomed; he shall be put to death, yea death. ³⁰ As for all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land and of the fruit of the tree, it is Yahweh's; it is holy to Yahweh. ³¹ And if a man should redeem, yea redeem any part of his tithe, a fifth of it shall he add to it. ³² All the tithe of the herd and the flock, all that passes under the club, a tenth shall become holy to Yahweh;" ³³ he shall make no quest between good and bad nor substitute for it. And if he should substitute, yea substitute for it, then it has become holy; both it and its substitute shall be holy. It may not be redeemed. ³⁴ These are the instructions with which Yahweh instructed Moses for the sons of Israel on Mount Sinai.

² Israel vowed a vow to Yahweh and said:If You give, yea give this people into my hand then I will doom their cities.

³ And in case a woman vows a vow to Yahweh and binds herself by a bond in the house of her father in her youth, ⁴ and her father hears about her vow or her bond which she has bound on her soul but her father is silent toward her, then all her vows are confirmed, and every bond which she has bound on her soul shall be confirmed.

¹⁰ Yet if, in the house of her husband, she vows or binds a bond on her soul by an oath,

²¹ In case you should vow a vow to Yahweh your Elohim, you shall not delay to perform it, for Yahweh your Elohim shall require, yea require it from you, and it would be sin on your part. ²² Yet in case you should forbear to vow, it shall not become sin on your part. ²³ The utterance of your lips you shall observe, and you must do just as you have vowed to Yahweh your Elohim; it is a voluntary offering that you have spoken of with your mouth.

¹¹ And Jephthah goes with the elders of Gilead, and the people set him over them for head and for captain, and Jephthah speaks all his words before Yahweh in Mizpeh.

³⁰ And Jephthah vows a vow to Yahweh, and said, `If You do at all give the Bene-Ammon into my hand-. ³¹ then it has been, that which at all comes out from the doors of my house to meet me in my turning back in peace from the Bene-Ammon--it has been to Yahweh, or I have offered up for it--a burnt-offering..

³⁵ And it comes to pass, when he sees her, that he rends his garments, and said, `Alas, my daughter, you have caused me greatly to bend, and you have been among those troubling me; and I--I have opened my mouth unto Yahweh, and I am not able to turn back.. <sup>36</sup> And she said unto him, `My father--you have opened your mouth unto Yahweh, do to me as it has gone out from your mouth, after that Yahweh has done for you vengeance on your enemies, on the Bene-Ammon..

³⁹ and it comes to pass at the end of two months that she turns back unto her father, and he does to her his vow which he has vowed, and she knew not a man; and it is a statute in Israel.

²⁷ You shall entreat Him, and He shall hear you, And you shall pay your vows.

³ He has not vilified with his tongue; He has done no evil to his associate And has borne no reproach against the one near him.

²⁵ From You comes my praise in the vast assembly; I shall pay my vows in front of those fearing Him.

¹⁴ Sacrifice to Elohim acclamation, And pay to the Supreme your vows."

²⁰ He has put forth his hands against those at peace with him; He has profaned his own covenant.

¹² O Elohim, I am under vows to You; I shall pay acclamation offerings to You."

¹³ I shall come to Your House with ascent offerings. I shall pay my vows to You, ¹⁴ Concerning which my lips opened wide, And my mouth spoke in my distress."

¹¹ Vow and pay to Yahweh your Elohim; Let all who are around Him fetch an indemnity to the fear inspiring One.

¹⁴ I shall pay my vows to Yahweh Straight in front of all His people.

¹⁸ I shall pay my vows to Yahweh Straight in front of all His people,

¹⁰⁶ I have sworn-- let me confirm it-- To keep Your righteous ordinances.

²⁵ It is a trap when a man is rash to pledge a holy donation, And only after making his vows to make a quest into it."

⁴ When you vow a vow to Elohim, do not delay to pay it, For there is no delight in those who are stupid; That which you vow, pay." ⁵ It is better that you should not vow Than that you should vow and not pay.

¹⁵ Behold on the mountains, the feet of a tidings-bearer announcing peace! Celebrate, Judah, your celebrations! Pay your vows! For the decadent one shall not continue further to pass among you; he shall be altogether cut off."

³³ "Again, you hear that it was declared to the ancients, You shall not be perjuring, yet you shall be paying to the Lord your oaths. ³⁴ Yet I am saying to you absolutely not to swear, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God,

⁷ Whence, with an oath, he avows to give her whatsoever she should be requesting." ⁸ Now she, being egged on by her mother, is averring, "Give me here, on a platter, the head of John the baptist." ⁹ And the king, being sorry, yet because of the oaths and those lying back at table with him, orders it to be given."

¹⁶ Woe to you, blind guides! who are saying, 'Whoever should be swearing by the temple, it is nothing; yet whoever should be swearing by the gold of the temple is owing.'"

¹⁸ And, 'Whoever should be swearing by the altar, it is nothing; yet whoever should be swearing by the approach present upon it is owing.'"

¹² Now, day coming on, making a conspiracy, the Jews anathematize themselves, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they should kill Paul."

¹⁴ who, coming to the chief priests and the elders, say, "With an anathema we anathematize ourselves to taste nothing till we should kill Paul."

²¹ You, then, should not be persuaded by them, for there are ambushing for him more than forty of their men, who anathematize themselves neither to eat nor drink till they may be assassinating him. And now they are ready, anticipating the promise from you."

²³ Now I am invoking God as a witness on my soul, that to spare you, I came no longer to Corinth."

⁹ according as it is written, He scatters, He gives to the drudges, His righteousness remains for the eon." ¹⁰ Now may He Who is supplying seed to the sower, and bread for food, be furnishing and multiplying your seed and be making the product of your righteousness grow, ¹¹ being enriched in everything, for all the generosity, which is producing through us thanksgiving to God,
