²⁰ And if he thrusts him in hatred or flings anything at him with malicious intent and he dies,

⁵ yet to Cain and to his present offering He does not give heed. And hot is Cain's anger exceedingly, and falling is his face.

⁸ And saying is Cain to Abel, his brother, "Go will we to the field. And coming is it, at their coming to be in the field, rising is Cain against Abel, his brother, and killing him.

¹⁴ Yet in case a man was planning arrogantly against his associate so as to kill him by craft, from My altar shall you take him to die.

¹¹ But if a man is hating his associate, and he waits in ambush for him, rises against him and smites his soul so that he dies, and he flees to one of these cities,

¹⁰ And it comes to pass, on the morrow, that the spirit of sadness [from] Elohim prospers over Saul, and he prophesies in the midst of the house, and David is playing with his hand, as day by day, and the javelin [is] in the hand of Saul, ¹¹ and Saul casts the javelin, and said, `I smite through David, even through the wall;' and David turns round out of his presence twice.

²⁵ And Saul said, `Thus do you say to David, There is no delight to the king in dowry, but in a hundred foreskins of the Philistines--to be avenged on the enemies of the king;' and Saul thought to cause David to fall by the hand of the Philistines.

⁹ And a spirit of sadness [from] Yahweh is unto Saul, and he is sitting in his house, and his javelin in his hand, and David is playing with the hand, ¹⁰ and Saul seeks to smite with the javelin through David, and through the wall, and he frees himself from the presence of Saul, and he smites the javelin through the wall; and David has fled and escapes during that night. ¹¹ And Saul sends messengers unto the house of David to watch him, and to put him to death in the morning; and Michal his wife declares to David, saying, `If you are not delivering your life to-night--tomorrow you are put to death.. ¹² And Michal causes David to go down through the window, and he goes on, and flees, and escapes;"

¹ And David flees from Naioth in Ramah, and comes, and said before Jonathan, `What have I done? what [is] mine iniquity? and what my sin before your father, that he is seeking my life?.

⁷ And it is declared to Saul that David has come in to Keilah, and Saul said, `Elohim has made him known for my hand, for he has been shut in, to enter into a city of doors and bar.. <sup>8</sup> And Saul summons the whole of the people to battle, to go down to Keilah, to lay siege unto David and unto his men. <sup>9</sup> And David knows that against him Saul is devising the evil, and said unto Abiathar the priest, `Bring nigh the ephod..

¹¹ `And, my father, see, yea see the skirt of your upper robe in my hand; for by cutting off the skirt of your upper robe, and I have not slain you, know and see that there is not in my hand evil and transgression, and I have not sinned against you, and you are hunting my soul to take it!"

²⁷ And Abner turns back to Hebron, and Joab turns him aside unto the midst of the gate to speak with him quietly, and smites him there in the fifth [rib] --and he dies--for the blood of Asahel his brother.

²² and Absalom has not spoken with Amnon either evil or good, for Absalom is hating Amnon, because that he humbled Tamar his sister.

⁵ `And also, you have known that which he did to me--Joab son of Zeruiah--that which he did to two heads of the hosts of Israel, to Abner son of Ner, and to Amasa son of Jether--that he slays them, and makes the blood of war in peace, and puts the blood of war in his girdle, that [is] on his loins, and in his sandals that [are] on his feet;" ⁶ and you have done according to your wisdom, and do not let his old age go down in peace to Sheol.

³¹ And the king said to him, `Do as he has spoken, and fall upon him, and you have buried him, and turned aside the causeless blood which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;" ³² and Yahweh has turned back his blood on his own head, who has fallen on two men more righteous and better than he, and slays them with the sword, --and my father David knew not--Abner son of Ner, head of the host of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, head of the host of Judah;" ³³ yea, turned back has their blood on the head of Joab, and on the head of his seed to the eon; and for David, and for his seed, and for his house, and for his throne, there is peace unto the eon, from Yahweh..

⁷ His mouth is full of imprecation, with deceit and fraud; Under his tongue are misery and lawlessness. ⁸ He sits in ambush in the hamlets; In places of concealment he kills the innocent; His eyes lurk for the pauper. ⁹ He waits in ambush in concealment like a lion in its covert; He waits in ambush to kidnap the humble; He kidnaps the humble by drawing him into his net. ¹⁰ The distressed one is crushed and bows down, And the army of paupers falls prey to his staunch ones.

² For behold, the wicked are positioning the bow; They make their arrow ready on the cord, To shoot in the gloom at the upright of heart.

⁷ For gratuitously have they buried their net for me; Gratuitously have they delved a grave for my soul. ⁸ May ruination come upon him when he is not knowing it, And may his net that he has buried seize him; Let him fall into it to ruination."

⁴ My soul is in the midst of parent-lions; Let me confidently lie among flaming foes, even sons of humanity; Their teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword." ⁵ O be exalted over the heavens, O Elohim; Let Your glory be over the entire earth!" ⁶ They have prepared a net for my footsteps; My soul is bent down; They have dug a pit before me, Yet they have fallen into its midst. {Interlude{ "

¹⁸ Yet they themselves wait in ambush for their own blood; They lurk for their own souls. ¹⁹ Such is the end of all who are greedy for gain; It takes away the soul of its possessors.

²⁴ With his lips, one who hates dissembles, Yet within him he firmly sets deceit;"

¹⁷ A man threatened by shedding the blood of a soul shall flee until descending to the crypt. Let them not uphold him.

¹⁹ Now Herodias hemmed him in, and wanted to kill him, and could not,

²⁴ And, coming out, she said to her mother, "What should I be requesting?Now she said, "The head of John the baptist." ²⁵ And entering straightway with diligence to the king, she requests, saying, "I want that you forthwith may be giving me on a platter the head of John the baptist." ²⁶ And the king, becoming sorrow-stricken, because of the oaths and those lying back at table with him, does not want to repudiate her."

²⁹ and rising, they cast Him outside of the city. And they led Him to the brow of the mountain on which their city had been built, so as to push Him over the precipice."

³ Besides, spending three months, at there coming to be a plot against him by the Jews, being about to set out for Syria, he came to be of the opinion that he would return through Macedonia."

²¹ You, then, should not be persuaded by them, for there are ambushing for him more than forty of their men, who anathematize themselves neither to eat nor drink till they may be assassinating him. And now they are ready, anticipating the promise from you."
