¹ In case you sit to dine with a ruler, You should understand, yea understand who is before you, ² And place a knife-point to your gullet If you are a person of soulish appetite. ³ Do not yearn for his tasties, For that is bread of lies." ⁴ Do not weary yourself in order to become rich; In your understanding forbear. ⁵ While your eyes are on it, does it fly away and is not? Indeed riches make wings for themselves And fly away to the heavens like a vulture." ⁶ Do not dine on the bread of one having a stingy eye, And do not yearn for his tasties, ⁷ For as one who calculates within his soul, so is he; Eat and drink, he says to you, Yet his heart is by no means with you." ⁸ Your morsel you have eaten, you shall vomit it up, And ruin your pleasant words." ⁹ Do not speak into the ears of the stupid man, For he shall despise the intelligence of your declarations." ¹⁰ Do not move away the boundary marker of the widow, And into the fields of the orphans do not enter, ¹¹ For their Redeemer is steadfast; He Himself shall contend their contention against you. ¹² Do bring your heart to admonition And your ear to the sayings of knowledge. ¹³ Do not withhold discipline from the youth, For should you smite him with the club he shall not die." ¹⁴ You shall smite him with the club And so rescue his soul from the unseen. ¹⁵ My son, if your heart is wise, My heart shall rejoice, even I;" ¹⁶ My kidneys shall be joyous When your lips speak upright words. ¹⁷ Let not your heart be jealous of sinners, But rather be zealous for the fear of Yahweh all the day, ¹⁸ For then you have a hereafter, And your expectation shall not be cut off." ¹⁹ Hearken now, my son, and be wise, And make your heart progress in the way." ²⁰ Do not be among wine carousers, Among those who are gluttonous on flesh for themselves." ²¹ For the carouser and the gluttonous man shall become destitute, And slumber shall clothe one in tatters." ²² Hearken to your father, this one who begot you, And do not despise your mother when she is old." ²³ Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Wisdom and discipline and understanding." ²⁴ The father of a righteous man shall exult, yea unto exultation; He who begets a wise man shall rejoice in him;" ²⁵ Your father and your mother shall rejoice; She who bore you shall exult. ²⁶ My son, do give your heart to me, And let your eyes hold my ways dear." ²⁷ For the prostitute is a deep pit, And the foreign woman is a narrow well." ²⁸ Indeed she waits in ambush like an abductor, And she adds to the treacherous ones among mankind." ²⁹ Who has woe? who has uneasiness? who has quarrels? Who has deep concerns? who has gratuitous injuries? Who has bloodshot eyes? ³⁰ They have who delay over wine, Who come to investigate a blend." ³¹ Do not stare at wine when it is red, When it casts its sparkle in the cup and goes down evenly." ³² Its aftereffect shall bite like a serpent And spread pain like a yellow viper. ³³ Your eyes shall see strange things, And your heart shall speak wayward thoughts." ³⁴ You will become like one who lies down on the heart of the sea, Or like one who lies down on the top of the rigging." ³⁵ They smite me, yet I am not at all wounded; They beat me, yet I have no knowledge of it. When shall I awake? I shall do it again; I shall seek it once more."

³² And placing are they for him alone and for them alone, for the Egyptians are eating with him alone, for the Egyptians cannot eat bread with Hebrews, for that is an abhorrence to the Egyptians. ³³ And sitting are they before him, the firstborn according to his birthright and the inferior in station according to his inferior estate. And amazed are the mortals, each man at his associate. ³⁴ And lifting up is he helpings, from before him, for them, and much more is Benjamin's helping than all their helpings by five handfuls. And drinking are they with him and are gratified.

¹² These are the reefs in your love feasts, carousing with you fearlessly, shepherding themselves; waterless clouds carried aside by winds; trees that are sear, unfruitful, twice dying, uprooted;"

⁸ Now, if your hand or your foot is snaring you, strike it off and cast it from you. Is it ideal for you to be entering into life maimed or lame, or, having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the fire eonian? ⁹ And if your eye is snaring you, wrench it out and cast it from you. Is it ideal for you to be entering into life one-eyed, or, having two eyes, to be cast into the Gehenna of fire?

²⁷ but I am belaboring my body and leading it into slavery, lest somehow, when heralding to others, I myself may become disqualified."

¹⁹ whose consummation is destruction, whose god is their bowels, and whose glory is in their shame, who to the terrestial are disposed."

⁴ O do not turn my heart aside to evil speaking, To practice activities in wickedness with men who are contrivers of lawlessness. And may I dine not at all on their pleasant things;"

⁶ Do not dine on the bread of one having a stingy eye, And do not yearn for his tasties,

⁸ Yet determining is Daniel in his heart that he will not sully himself with the dainties of the king, or with the wine of his feasts. When he is seeking permission from the chief of the eunuchs that he not be sullying himself,

³⁴ Now take heed to yourselves, lest at some time your hearts should be burdened with crapulence and drunkenness and the worries of life's affairs, and that day may be standing by you unawares,

²² to put off from you, as regards your former behavior, the old humanity which is corrupted in accord with its seductive desires,

⁵ Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, And do not lean to your own understanding."

⁷ Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear Yahweh and withdraw from evil.

²⁷ He who is greedy for gain brings trouble on his house, Yet he who hates bribes shall live."

¹² Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more expectation for a stupid man than for him.

²⁰ A faithful man shall have many blessings, Yet he who rushes to be rich shall not be held innocent."

²¹ Woe to those wise in their own eyes, and in front of their own face have understanding!"

¹⁹ Do not hoard for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and corrosion are causing them to disappear, and where thieves are tunneling and stealing."

²⁷ Do not work for the food which is perishing, but for the food which is remaining for life eonian, which the Son of Mankind will be giving to you, for this One God, the Father, seals."

²⁵ For I am not willing for you to be ignorant of this secret, brethren, lest you may be passing for prudent among yourselves, that callousness, in part, on Israel has come, until the complement of the nations may be entering."

¹⁶ being mutually disposed to one another, not being disposed to that which is high, but being led away to the humble. Do not come to pass for prudent with yourselves."

⁸ Now, having sustenance and shelter, with these we shall be sufficed." ⁹ Now, those intending to be rich are falling into a trial and a trap and the many foolish and harmful desires which are swamping men in extermination and destruction." ¹⁰ For a root of all of the evils is the fondness for money, which some, craving, were led astray from the faith and try themselves on all sides with much pain."

⁵ May fondness for money not be your manner, being sufficed with what is present, for He has declared: Under no circumstances may I be lax regarding you, Neither by any means may I be forsaking you."

³⁶ And saying to them is Jacob, their father, "Me you bereave! Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and Benjamin you will take! On me come all these things.

¹⁴ And a messenger came to Job and said, The oxen were plowing, and the jennies were grazing at their sides, ¹⁵ when the Sabeans swooped down and took them. Then they smote the lads with the edge of the sword, yet I escaped, but I myself alone, to tell it to you. ¹⁶ This one was still speaking when another came and said, The fire of Elohim, it fell from the heavens, it consumed the flock and the lads, and it devoured them, yet I escaped, but I myself alone, to tell it to you. ¹⁷ This one was still speaking when another came and said, The Chaldeans, they formed three bands, and they emerged on the camels and took them. Then they smote the lads with the edge of the sword, yet I escaped, but I myself alone, to tell it to you.

⁶ Yea, man walks about, merely an image; Yea, they clamor about in vain He piles up goods but does not know who will be gathering them in."

³⁶ Stretch out my heart to Your testimonies, And not at all to selfish gain." ³⁷ Avert my eyes from looking at futile things; Revive me in Your way.

²⁴ For assets do not last for an eon, Nor does a treasure for generation after generation."

² Vanity of vanities, says the Assembler; Vanity of vanities, the whole is vanity."

¹³ There is a travailing evil I have seen under the sun:Riches are kept by their possessor to his peril; ¹⁴ Then these riches perish through some experience of evil, When he begets a son, then there is not anything left in his hand."

⁸ Vanity of vanities, says the Assembler, The whole is vanity."

² Why will you weigh out money for that which is not bread? And give your labor for that which gives no satisfaction? Hearken, yea hearken to Me, and eat what is good. And deliciousness in sleekness shall your soul enjoy."

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not, Except on your dishonest gain, And on shedding of innocent blood, And on oppression, and on doing of violence."

²⁹ Now this I am averring, brethren, the era is limited; that, furthermore, those also having wives may be as not having them, ³⁰ and those lamenting as not lamenting, and those rejoicing as not rejoicing, and those buying as not retaining, ³¹ and those using this world as not using it up. For the fashion of this world is passing by.

¹⁷ Those who are rich in the current eon be charging not to be haughty, nor yet to rely on the dubiousness of riches, but on God, Who is tendering us all things richly for our enjoyment;"

¹ Come now, you rich, lament, howling for your wretchedness which is coming on you! " ² Your riches have rotted and your garments have become food for moths.

¹⁶ for everything that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of living, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

⁹ Guard yourself lest there should be in your heart the decadent word, saying:The seventh year is near, the year of the release, so that your eye is evil toward your needy brother, and you give him nothing. Then he may call out to Yahweh concerning you, and it will be held as a sin against you.

⁵⁶ The tender-hearted woman among you, and the fastidious one, who would not try to put the sole of her foot on the earth because of fastidiousness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter,

⁹ He who has a bountiful eye shall be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor."

³ Do not yearn for his tasties, For that is bread of lies."

²² A man who is stingy of eye is rash to get wealth, Yet he does not know that want shall come to him."

⁸ Yet determining is Daniel in his heart that he will not sully himself with the dainties of the king, or with the wine of his feasts. When he is seeking permission from the chief of the eunuchs that he not be sullying himself, ⁹ Elohim is showing Daniel kindness and compassion before the chief of the eunuchs. ¹⁰ Saying is the chief of the eunuchs to Daniel, "I am fearing my lord the king who assigned your food and your drink. Why shall he see your faces more languid and feeble than the other boys who are of your deportation? You make me indebted to the king with my head!"

¹⁵ Is it not allowed me to do what I want with that which is mine? Or is your eye wicked, seeing that I am good?'"

²² adulteries, greed, wickedness, guile, wantonness, a wicked eye, calumny, pride, imprudence."

¹⁵ And she said unto him, `How do you say, I have loved you, and your heart is not with me? these three times you have played upon me, and have not declared to me wherein your great power [is]..

²⁶ And Absalom said, `If not--let, I pray you, Amnon my brother go with us;' and the king said to him, `Why does he go with you?. ²⁷ and Absalom urges on him, and he sends with him Amnon, and all the sons of the king. ²⁸ And Absalom commands his young men, saying, `See, I pray you, when the heart of Amnon [is] glad with wine, and I have said unto you, Smite Amnon, that you have put him to death; fear not; is it not because I have commanded you? be strong, yea, become sons of valor..

² They speak hypocrisy, each one with his associate; With a lip of slick words, with a double-minded heart they speak.

²¹ Words from his mouth are slicker than clotted cream, Yet an attack is planned in his heart; His words are more soothing than oil, Yet they are unloosed swords!"

²² The comeliness of a man is his kindness, And a destitute friend is better than a man of lies."

²⁷ Then the two kings, with evil in their hearts, will sit at one table. Lies will they speak, which shall not prosper, for it is yet further to the end, to the time appointed."

³ And lo! some of the scribes say among themselves, "This man is blaspheming!" ⁴ And Jesus, perceiving their sentiments, said, "Why are you brooding wickedness in your hearts?

³⁹ Now, perceiving it, the Pharisee who invites Him said in himself, saying, "This one, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman it is who is touching him, seeing that she is a sinner."

³⁷ Now, in His speaking, a certain Pharisee is asking Him so that He should be lunching with him. Now entering, He leans back at table." ³⁸ Now the Pharisee, perceiving it, marvels that He is not first baptized before luncheon." ³⁹ Yet the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees are cleansing the outside of the cup and the platter, yet your inside is brimming with rapacity and wickedness." ⁴⁰ Imprudent ones! Does not He Who makes the outside also make the inside? ⁴¹ However, what is within be giving as alms, and lo! all is clean to you." ⁴² But woe to you, Pharisees! for you are taking tithes from mint and rue and all greens, and you are passing by judging and the love of God. Now these it was binding for you to do and not to be devoid of those." ⁴³ Woe to you, Pharisees! seeing that you are loving the front seat in the synagogues and the salutations in the markets." ⁴⁴ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are as the obscure tombs, and the men who are walking upon them are not aware of it." ⁴⁵ Now, answering, a certain one of those learned in the law is saying to Him, "Teacher, saying these things, us also are you outraging." ⁴⁶ Yet He said, "To you who are learned in the law, also, woe! for you are loading men with loads hard to bear, and you yourselves are not grazing the loads with one of your fingers." ⁴⁷ Woe to you! for you are building the tombs of the prophets, yet your fathers kill them." ⁴⁸ Consequently you are witnesses and are endorsing the acts of your fathers, for they, indeed, kill them, yet you are building their tombs." ⁴⁹ Therefore, also, God's Wisdom said, 'I shall be dispatching to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will be killing and banishing,'" ⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets which is shed from the disruption of the world may be exacted from this generation, ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the house. Yea, I am saying to you, It will be exacted from this generation!" ⁵² Woe to you who are learned in the law! for you take away the key of knowledge-you yourselves do not enter, and those who are entering you prevent." ⁵³ And at His coming out thence, the scribes and the Pharisees begin to hem Him in dreadfully and to be quizzing Him concerning more things, ⁵⁴ ambushing Him,seeking to pounce upon something out of His mouth, that they shall be accusing Him."

⁷ The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; The foolish despise wisdom and discipline.

⁷ He who admonishes a mocker is procuring dishonor to himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets himself a blemish." ⁸ Do not reprove a mocker lest he should hate you; Reprove a wise man, and he shall love you."

⁴ Do not answer a stupid man according to his folly, Lest you should become equal to him, even you." ⁵ Answer a stupid man according to his folly, Lest he should become wise in his own eyes."

²¹ Yet they are silent, and do not answer him a word, for it is the instruction of the king, saying, "You shall not answer him."

⁶ You may not be giving that which is holy to curs, nor yet should you be casting your pearls in front of hogs, lest at some time they shall be trampling them with their feet and, turning, they should be tearing you."

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees also, inherently fond of money, heard all these things, and they scouted Him."

⁵² The Jews said to Him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets, and you are saying, 'If ever anyone should be keeping my word, he should under no circumstances be tasting death for the eon.'"

³⁰ The man answered and said to them, "For in this is the marvelous thing, that you are not aware whence He is, and He opens my eyes!" ³¹ We are aware that God is not hearing sinners, but if anyone should be a reverer of God and doing His will, him He is hearing." ³² From out of the eon it is not heard that anyone opens the eyes of one born blind. ³³ Except this Man were from God, He could not be doing anything." ³⁴ They answered and say to him, "You were wholly born in sins, and you are teaching us!And they cast him out."

⁴⁰ And those of the Pharisees who are with Him hear these things, and they said to Him, "Not we also are blind?

²⁰ Now many of them said, "A demon has he, and is mad. Why are you hearing him?

⁴⁵ Yet the Jews, perceiving the throngs, are filled with jealousy, and they contradicted the things spoken by Paul, blaspheming." ⁴⁶ Being bold, both Paul and Barnabas, say, "To you first was it necessary that the word of God be spoken. Yet, since, in fact, you are thrusting it away, and are judging yourselves not worthy of eonian life, lo! we are turning to the nations."

¹⁸ Now some of the Epicurean as well as Stoic philosophers parleyed with him, and some said, "Whatever may this rook be wanting to say?Yet others, "He seems to be an announcer of strange demons,seeing that he brought them the evangel of Jesus and the resurrection."

³² Now, on hearing of the resurrection of the dead, these, indeed, jeered, yet those say, "We will hear you concerning this again also."

²⁵ Now there being disagreements one with another, they were dismissed, Paul making one declaration, that, "Ideally the holy spirit speaks through Isaiah the prophet, to your fathers, ²⁶ saying, 'Go to this people and say, "In hearing, you will be hearing, and may by no means be understanding, And observing, you will be observing, and may by no means be perceiving, ²⁷ For stoutened is the heart of this people, And with their ears heavily they hear, And with their eyes they squint, Lest at some time they may be perceiving with their eyes, And with their ears should be hearing, And with their heart may be understanding, And should be turning about, And I shall be healing them.'" ²⁸ Let it be known to you, then, that to the nations was dispatched this salvation of God, and they will hear."

²¹ For since, in fact, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom knew not God, God delights, through the stupidity of the heralding, to save those who are believing, ²² since, in fact, Jews signs are requesting, and Greeks wisdom are seeking, ²³ yet we are heralding Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a snare, yet to the nations stupidity, ²⁴ yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God,

¹⁰ We are stupid because of Christ, yet you are prudent in Christ. We are weak, yet you are strong. You are glorious, yet we are dishonored." ¹¹ Until the present hour we are hungering also and thirsting, and are naked and are buffeted and unsettled and toiling, working with our own hands." ¹² Being reviled, we are blessing; being persecuted, we are bearing with it;" ¹³ being calumniated, we are entreating. As the offscourings of the world we became, the scum of all things, hitherto."

¹⁴ You shall not move away the boundary marker of your associate by which the former ones bounded your allotment that you are allotted in the land that Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you to tenant it.

¹⁷ Cursed be the one moving the boundary marker of his associate. Then all the people will say:Amen!

²⁷ Indeed, you would cast lots for the orphan, And you would barter over your associate.

⁹ Widows you have sent away empty, And the arms of orphans you have crushed.

² The wicked move away boundary markers; They pillage the drove and openly graze them. ³ The orphans donkey they lead away; They take the widow's bull as a pledge.

⁹ Yet others snatch the orphan from the breast, And they take as a pledge the unweaned of the humble.

²¹ If I have waved my hand against the orphan Because I saw my backing was in the gate, ²² Then may my shoulder fall from the shoulder blade, And may my arm be broken from the clavicle. ²³ (Indeed I have an awe of calamity from El, And I am not able to stand before His dignity..

⁶ They kill the widow and the sojourner, And they murder the orphans."

²⁸ Do not move away the eonian boundary marker Which your fathers have made.

⁵ For, if you do thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, If you do judgment thoroughly Between a man and his neighbor,

³ Thus said Yahweh:Do you judgment and righteousness, And deliver the plundered from the hand of the oppressor, And sojourner, orphan, and widow, you do not oppress nor wrong, And innocent blood you do not shed in this place."

¹⁰ and you must not extort from a widow or orphan or the sojourner or the humble. And you must not devise evil, each man to his brother, in your heart."

⁵ Then I will come near to you for judgment, and become a hastening witness against the enchanters and against the adulterers, and against those who are swearing in My name to falsehood, and against those extorting the hire of the hireling, and those tyrannizing over the widow and taunting the orphan, and turning aside the sojourner, and do not fear Me, says Yahweh of hosts."

²⁷ for ritual clean and undefiled with God the Father is this: to be visiting the bereaved and widowed in their affliction, to be keeping oneself unspotted from the world."

²² Any widow or orphan you shall not humiliate. ²³ If you humiliate, yea humiliate him, in case he should cry, yea cry to Me, I shall hear, yea hear his cry, ²⁴ and My anger will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives will become widows and your sons orphans.

¹⁹ Cursed be the one turning aside the judgment of the sojourner, the orphan or the widow. Then all the people will say:Amen!"

²⁵ Yet as for me, I know my Redeemer is living, And after this He shall arise on the soil;"

⁵ Because of the devastation of the humbled, Because of the groaning of the needy, Now I shall arise, says Yahweh; I shall set him in safety; I shall shine forth for him.

²³ For Yahweh Himself shall contend their contention, And He will defraud their defrauders of their soul."

³³ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts:Oppressed are the sons of Israel, And the sons of Judah together, And all their captors have kept hold on them, They have refused to send them away." ³⁴ Their Redeemer [is] strong, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name, He does thoroughly plead their cause, So as to cause the land to rest, And He has given trouble to the inhabitants of Babylon."

³⁶ Therefore, thus said Yahweh:Lo, I am pleading your cause, And I have avenged your vengeance, And dried up its sea, and made its fountains dry."

² Attending with your ear to wisdom, And you stretch out your heart to comprehension, ³ Indeed if you call out for understanding, And you lift up your voice for comprehension, ⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures, ⁵ Then you shall understand the fear of Yahweh, And you shall find the knowledge of God." ⁶ For Yahweh Himself gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and comprehension;

¹ My son, do attend to my wisdom; To my comprehension, stretch out your ear, ² In order to guard foresight, That your lips may preserve knowledge."

¹⁷ Stretch out your ear and hear the words of the wise, And let your heart be set on my knowledge."

¹⁹ Hearken now, my son, and be wise, And make your heart progress in the way."

³¹ And they come in unto you as the coming in of a people, And they sit before you--My people, And have heard your words, and they do them not, For doting loves with their mouth they are making, After their dishonest gain their heart is going."

⁵² Now He said to them, "Therefore every scribe made a disciple in the kingdom of the heavens is like a man, a householder, who is extracting out of his treasure things new and old."

²¹ Wherefore, putting off all filthiness and superabundance of evil, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls." ²² Now become doers of the word, and not only listeners, beguiling yourselves." ²³ For if anyone is a listener to the word and not a doer, this one simulates a man considering the face he inherited in a mirror;" ²⁴ for he considers himself and has come away, and immediately forgot what kind he was." ²⁵ Now he who peers into the perfect law, that of freedom, and abides, not becoming a forgetful listener, but a doer of the work, this one will be happy in his doing."

²⁴ He who keeps back his club hates his son, Yet he who loves him is early to discipline him."

¹⁸ Discipline your son while there is expectation, And let not your soul indulge in letting him die."

¹⁵ The club of correction gives wisdom, Yet a youth left alone puts his mother to shame."

¹⁷ Discipline your son, and he shall give you rest And give contentment to your soul."

¹⁵ Folly is tied to the heart of a youth; The club of discipline shall put it far from him.

⁵ to give up such a one to Satan for the extermination of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."

³² Yet, being judged, we are being disciplined by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world."

¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice you, do not comply with them;"

¹ My son, if you take my words And store up my instructions within you,

¹ Hearken, O sons, to a father's discipline, And attend in order to know understanding."

¹ Proverbs of Solomon:A wise son makes his father rejoice, Yet a stupid son is affliction to his mother."

²⁰ A wise son rejoices his father, Yet a stupid man despises his mother."

²⁴ The father of a righteous man shall exult, yea unto exultation; He who begets a wise man shall rejoice in him;" ²⁵ Your father and your mother shall rejoice; She who bore you shall exult.

³ A man who loves wisdom rejoices his father, Yet he who associates with prostitutes destroys his wealth."

⁴¹ and I have rejoiced over them to do them good, and have planted them in this land in truth, with all my heart, and with all My soul."

¹⁷ Yahweh, your Elohim, is within you; He, the Master, will save. He will be elated over you with rejoicing; He will renew you in His love; He will exult over you with jubilation."

² And lo! they brought to Him a paralytic, prostrate on a couch. And Jesus, perceiving their faith, said to the paralytic, "Courage, child! Pardoned are your sins!"

²³ And bring the grain-fed calf, sacrifice it, and, eating, we may make merry, ²⁴ for this my son was dead and revives; he was lost and was found.' And they begin to make merry.

³² Yet we must be merry and rejoice, seeing that this your brother was dead and revives, and was lost and was found.'"

¹¹ These things have I spoken to you, that My joy should be remaining in you, and your joy may be filled."

⁵ Jesus, then, is saying to them, "Little children, have you no viands?They answered Him, "No!"

¹⁹ For who is our expectation, or joy, or wreath of glorying? Or is it not even you, in front of our Lord Jesus, in His presence? ²⁰ For you are our glory and joy.

⁸ for now we are living if ever you are standing firm in the Lord. ⁹ For what thanksgiving are we able to repay to God concerning you for all the joy with which we are rejoicing because of you in front of our God,

¹ My little children, these things am I writing to you that you may not be sinning. And if anyone should be sinning, we have an Entreater with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Just."

⁴ I rejoiced very much that I have found your children walking in truth, according as we obtained a precept from the Father."

³ For I rejoiced very much at the brethren's coming and testifying to your truth, according as you are walking in truth." ⁴ I am having no greater joy than this, that I am hearing of my children walking in the truth."

⁶ Hearken, for I am speaking correct words, And the opening of my lips reveals equities."

²⁹ Let no tainted word at all be issuing out of your mouth, but if any is good toward needful edification, that it may be giving grace to those hearing."

⁴ and vileness and stupid speaking or insinuendo, which are not proper, but rather thanksgiving."

⁴ that I should be making it manifest, as I must speak."

² For we all are tripping much. If anyone is not tripping in word, this one is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also."

¹ {Davidic{ Do not grow hot because of evildoers; Do not be jealous over those doing iniquity. ² For like grass, they shall quickly be snipped off, And like green verdure, they shall decay." ³ Trust in Yahweh, and do good; Tabernacle in the land, and graze in faithfulness."

³ For I was jealous of those who are boasting; I was seeing the well-being of the wicked. ⁴ For there are no hindrances for them; Robust and plump is their physique. ⁵ They are not involved in the toil of a mortal, And they are not touched by ills with humanity." ⁶ Wherefore pride is their necklace; Violence is draping about them like a burnoose. ⁷ Their eye protrudes from fat; Vain fancies pass through their heart.

¹⁰ The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom; All who practice it have a good insight. His praise is standing into the future.

³¹ Do not be jealous of the violent man, And do not choose any of his ways."

¹⁶ Better is a little with the fear of Yahweh Than much treasure and discomfiture along with it;

¹ Do not be jealous of evil men, And do not yearn to be with them."

¹⁴ Happy is the man who is in awe continually, Yet he whose heart is obstinate shall fall into peril."

⁷ For in many dreams and vanities, there are many words; Therefore fear the One, Elohim."

¹³ The terminus of the whole matter has been heard:Fear the One, Elohim, and keep His instructions, For this is the whole duty of humanity." ¹⁴ For the One, Elohim, shall bring every deed into judgment concerning all that is obscured, Whether good or whether evil."

³¹ Indeed, then, the ecclesia down the whole of Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, being edified, and, going on in the fear of the Lord and the consolation of the holy spirit, multiplied."

¹ Having, then, these promises, beloved, we should be cleansing ourselves from every pollution of flesh and spirit, completing holiness in the fear of God."

¹⁷ And if you are invoking the Father, Who is judging impartially according to each one's work, you may behave, for the time of your sojourn, with fear,

¹⁸ For the needy one shall not be forgotten permanently; The expectation of the humbled shall not perish for the future.

³⁷ Observe the flawless, and see the upright, That there is a hereafter for the man of peace."

¹⁴ Do know that wisdom is so to your soul when you find it, And it has an end so that your expectation shall not be cut off."

²⁰ For there shall be no good end for the evil man; The lamp of the wicked shall be extinguished.

¹¹ For I have known the thoughts that I am thinking towards you--an affirmation of Yahweh; thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give to you posterity and hope."

²⁵ Now Abraham said, 'Child, be reminded that you got your good things in your life, and Lazarus likewise evil things. Yet now here he is being consoled, yet you are in pain."

²¹ What fruit, then, had you then? - of which you are now ashamed, for, indeed, the consummation of those things is death." ²² Yet, now, being freed from Sin, yet enslaved to God, you have your fruit for holiness. Now the consummation is life eonian."

²⁰ in accord with my premonition and expectation, that in nothing shall I be put to shame, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether through life or through death."

³⁵ You should not, then, be casting away your boldness, which is having a great reward, "

¹⁰ Hearken, my son, and take in my sayings, And they shall increase the years of your life." ¹¹ For in the way of wisdom I direct you; I cause you to tread in routes of uprightness. ¹² When you walk, your steps shall not be constricted, And when you run, you shall not stumble." ¹³ Hold fast to admonition; do not let your hold relax; Preserve her, for she is your life." ¹⁴ In the path of the wicked, do not enter, And do not progress along the way of evil men." ¹⁵ Renounce it; do not pass within it; Swerve from it, and pass on." ¹⁶ For they cannot sleep until they assuredly do evil, And their sleep is snatched away if they have not caused someone to stumble." ¹⁷ Indeed they dine on the bread of wickedness, And they drink the wine of violent acts." ¹⁸ While the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn's brightness, Advancing and becoming resplendent until the day is established, ¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like gloom; They do not know at what they stumble. ²⁰ My son, do attend to my words; To my sayings stretch out your ear;" ²¹ Let them not steal away from before your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; ²² For they are life to those finding them, And to one's entire flesh, they are health." ²³ More than any guard-post, preserve your heart, For from it spring the outflowings of life."

⁶ Go to the ant, O slothful one; See its ways and be wise;"

⁶ Forsake your simple ways and live, And progress in the way of understanding."

¹² Do bring your heart to admonition And your ear to the sayings of knowledge.

²⁶ My son, do give your heart to me, And let your eyes hold my ways dear."

¹ Wine is a mocker; an intoxicant is a discomfiter; And anyone led into error by it is not wise.

²⁹ Who has woe? who has uneasiness? who has quarrels? Who has deep concerns? who has gratuitous injuries? Who has bloodshot eyes? ³⁰ They have who delay over wine, Who come to investigate a blend." ³¹ Do not stare at wine when it is red, When it casts its sparkle in the cup and goes down evenly." ³² Its aftereffect shall bite like a serpent And spread pain like a yellow viper. ³³ Your eyes shall see strange things, And your heart shall speak wayward thoughts." ³⁴ You will become like one who lies down on the heart of the sea, Or like one who lies down on the top of the rigging." ³⁵ They smite me, yet I am not at all wounded; They beat me, yet I have no knowledge of it. When shall I awake? I shall do it again; I shall seek it once more."

⁷ He who preserves the law is an understanding son, Yet he who associates with prodigals puts his father to shame."

⁶ Give intoxicant to him who is perishing, And wine to those bitter of soul." ⁷ Let him drink and forget his destitution, And let him remember his misery no further."

¹¹ Woe! Early morning risers, pursuing an intoxicant! Delaying in the gloaming, wine is making them flare up."

²² Woe to masters of wine drinking, and mortals valorous in blending an intoxicant,

¹³ yet behold! Elation will they make and rejoicing, killing an ox and slaying from the flock, eating flesh and drinking wine, saying, "Eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die."

⁴⁹ and should begin to beat his fellow slaves, yet may be eating and drinking with the drunken,

¹³ And, after not many days, gathering all together, the younger son travels into a far country and there dissipates his estate, living profligately."

¹⁹ Now a certain man was rich and he dressed in purple and cambric, daily making merry splendidly."

¹³ As in the day, respectably, should we be walking, not in revelries and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy,

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which is profligacy, but be filled full with spirit,

³ For sufficient is the time which has passed by to have effected the intention of the nations, having gone on in wantonness, lusts, debauches, revelries, drinking bouts, and illicit idolatries, ⁴ while they are thinking it strange of you not to race together into the same puddle of profligacy, calumniating you;"

²⁰ They will say to the elders of his city:This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He is not hearkening to our voice. He is a glutton and carouser.

⁹ How long shall you lie down, O slothful one? When shall you rise from your sleep? ¹⁰ A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands, to lie at rest, ¹¹ And your destitution shall come like a wayfarer, And your lack like a man with a shield."

¹⁵ Slothfulness casts one down into stupor, So that the soul of the indolent man shall famish."

¹⁷ The man who loves amusement shall come to want; He who loves wine and oil shall never be rich.

³⁰ I passed by the field of the slothful man, And by the vineyard of the man who lacked heart understanding, ³¹ And behold, all of it came up with sting nettles, Prickly acanthus covered its surface, And its barrier-wall of stones was pulled down." ³² Then I myself set my heart on what I was perceiving; I took admonition from what I saw: ³³ A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands, to lie at rest, ³⁴ And your destitution will come like a wayfarer, And your lack like a man with a shield."

¹ Woe! Proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim! And decaying blossom of its stately beauty, which is at the head of the fertile ravine, drunkards for whom there is no wine!" ² Behold! The anger of Yahweh is steadfast and resolute as a hail storm, a stinging horror, as a storm of waters, abundant, overflowing. And He drags it to the earth by His hand." ³ With their feet will they tramp the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim,

⁵ Awake, drunkards, from your wine, and lament! And howl, all drinkers of wine, over the juice! For rejoicing and elation is cut off from your mouth."

¹¹ Yet now I write to you not to be commingling with anyone named a brother, if he should be a paramour, or greedy, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. With such a one you are not even to be eating."

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards; no revilers, no extortioners shall be enjoying the allotment of God's kingdom."

²¹ envies, murders, drunkennesses, revelries, and the like of these, which, I am predicting to you, according as I predicted also, that those committing such things shall not be enjoying the allotment of the kingdom of God."

³ Each of you shall fear his mother and his father, and observe My sabbaths:I, Yahweh, am your Elohim.

¹⁸ In case a son of a man should become stubborn and rebellious, and he is not hearkening to the voice of his father or to the voice of his mother, and they discipline him, but he does not hearken to them, ¹⁹ then his father and his mother will grasp him and bring him forth to the elders of his city, at the gate of his place. ²⁰ They will say to the elders of his city:This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He is not hearkening to our voice. He is a glutton and carouser. ²¹ Then all the men of his city will pelt him with stones so that he dies. Thus you will eradicate the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.

¹⁶ Cursed be the one dishonoring his father or his mother. Then all the people shall say:Amen!

⁸ Hear, my son, the admonition of your father, And do not abandon the law of your mother."

²⁰ My son, preserve the instruction of your father, And do not abandon the law of your mother."

¹¹ There is a breed of men that maledict their father And do not bless even their mother;

¹⁷ The eye that derides a father And despises the homage due a mother--The ravens of the watercourse shall pick it out, And the vultures shall eat it."

⁴ For God said, 'Honor father and mother,' and, 'He who is saying aught that is evil of father or mother, let him decease in death.'" ⁵ Yet you are saying that 'Whoever may be saying to father or mother, "An approach present is whatsoever you may be benefited by me, ⁶ by no means shall he be honoring his father.' And you invalidate the word of God because of your tradition.

¹⁰ For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, He who is saying aught that is evil of father or mother, let him decease in death."

²⁶ Jesus, then, perceiving His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing by, is saying to His mother, "Woman, lo! your son!" ²⁷ Thereafter He is saying to the disciple, "Lo! your mother!And from that hour the disciple took her to his own."

¹ Children, be obeying your parents, in the Lord, for this is just." ² Honor your father and mother' (which is the first precept with a promise),

¹² But wisdom, where can it be found? And just where is the place of understanding? ¹³ Mortal man does not know its appraisal, And it is not being found in the land of the living. ¹⁴ The abyss says, It is not in me! And the sea says, There is no such thing with me!" ¹⁵ Solid gold cannot be given instead of it, And silver cannot be weighed as its price. ¹⁶ It cannot be classed with certified gold of Ophir, Or with precious onyx and sapphire. ¹⁷ Neither gold or glass can be its appraisal, Or articles of glittering gold its exchange. ¹⁸ Coral and crystal, such is not even mentioned; Wisdom is more attractive than rubies. ¹⁹ Peridot of Ethiopia is not its appraisal; With pure certified gold it cannot be classed.

⁷² Better to me is the law of Your mouth Than thousands of gold and silver.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love Your instructions More than gold, even than glittering gold."

² Attending with your ear to wisdom, And you stretch out your heart to comprehension, ³ Indeed if you call out for understanding, And you lift up your voice for comprehension, ⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures,

⁵ Acquire wisdom; acquire understanding; Do not forget, and do not turn aside from the sayings of my mouth;" ⁶ Do not forsake her, and she shall guard you; Love her, and she shall preserve you." ⁷ The principal thing is wisdom; acquire wisdom, And with all your acquisition, acquire understanding;"

¹⁶ To acquire wisdom, how much better than fine gold, And to acquire understanding, more to be chosen than silver!"

¹⁶ Why then should the price be in the hand of a stupid man To acquire wisdom, since he has no heart understanding?

¹⁵ The heart of one who understands acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge."

¹ Ho! Every thirsty one! Go to the water! And he who has no money, go, purchase and eat and drink, and go, purchase with no money and with no price, wine and milk."

⁴⁴ Like is the kingdom of the heavens to a treasure hidden in the field, finding which, a man hides it, and, in his joy, is going away, and is selling all, whatever he has, and is buying that field."

⁴⁶ Now, finding one very precious pearl, he comes away, having disposed of all whatever he had, and buys it."

²⁶ For the Son of Mankind is about to be coming in the glory of His Father, with His messengers, and then He will be paying each in accord with his practice."

²³ more than that the holy spirit, city by city, certifies to me, saying that bonds and afflictions are remaining for me."

⁷ But things which were gain to me, these I have deemed a forfeit because of Christ." ⁸ But, to be sure, I am also deeming all to be a forfeit because of the superiority of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord, because of Whom I forfeited all, and am deeming it to be refuse, that I should be gaining Christ,

²⁶ deeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt, for he looked away to the reward."

¹⁸ I am advising you to buy of Me gold refined by the fire, that you should be rich, and white garments, that you may be clothed and the shame of your nakedness may not be made manifest, and eye-salve to anoint your eyes, that you may be observing."

¹¹ And they conquer him through the blood of the Lambkin, and through the word of their testimony, and they love not their soul, until death."

⁴⁸ and also thus has the king said, Blessed [is] Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, who has given to-day [one] sitting on my throne, and mine eyes seeing..

¹ And draw near do the days of David to die, and he charges Solomon his son, saying, ² `I am going in the way of all the earth, and you have been strong, and become a man, ³ and kept the charge of Yahweh your Elohim, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commands, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, so that you do wisely all that you do, and whithersoever you turn,

⁹ and now, acquit him not, for a wise man you [are], and you have known that which you do to him, and have brought down his old age with blood to Sheol..

¹⁵ My son, if your heart is wise, My heart shall rejoice, even I;" ¹⁶ My kidneys shall be joyous When your lips speak upright words.

¹⁹ Who knows if he shall be a wise or a frivolous man? Yet he shall have authority over all the fruit of my toil that I toiled, And in which I was wise under the sun; This too is vanity."

⁹ because of love I am rather entreating, being such a one as Paul the aged, yet now a prisoner also of Christ Jesus."

²⁰ Yea, brother, may I be "profitingfrom you in the Lord! Soothe my compassions in Christ!"

⁹ And Jabez is honored above his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, `Because I have brought forth with grief.. <sup>10</sup> And Jabez calls to the Elohim of Israel, saying, `If blessing You do bless me, then You have made great my border, and Your hand has been with me, and You have kept [me] from evil--not to grieve me;' and Elohim brings in that which he asked.

²⁵ A stupid son is vexation to his father And bitterness to her who bore him.

³¹ And lo! you shall be conceiving and be pregnant and be bringing forth a Son, and you shall be calling His name Jesus." ³² He shall be great, and Son of the Most High shall He be called. And the Lord God shall be giving Him the throne of David, ³³ His father, and He shall reign over the house of Jacob for the eons. And of His kingdom there shall be no consummation."

⁴⁰ And she entered into the house of Zechariah, and salutes Elizabeth." ⁴¹ And it occurred, as Elizabeth hears the salutation of Mary, the babe jumps in her womb, and Elizabeth is filled with holy spirit, ⁴² and she shouts out with a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb!" ⁴³ And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord may be coming to me? ⁴⁴ For Lo! as the sound of your salutation came into my ears, the babe jumps with exultation in my womb." ⁴⁵ And happy is she who believes, seeing that there shall be a maturing of that which has been spoken to her by the Lord!" ⁴⁶ And Miriam said, "My soul is magnifying the Lord, ⁴⁷ And my spirit exults in God my Saviour,

⁵⁸ And the homes about and her relatives hear that the Lord magnifies His mercy with her, and they rejoiced together with her."

²⁷ Now it occurred as He is saying these things, a certain woman out of the throng, lifting up her voice, said to Him, "Happy the womb which bears Thee, and the breasts which Thou didst suckle!" ²⁸ Yet He said, "Indeed then, happy are those who are hearing the word of God and maintaining it!"

⁵ So you will love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your intensity.

⁴³ Whoever is wise, let him observe these things; Let them consider the benignities of Yahweh."

² Happy are those preserving His testimonies; With all their heart, they are seeking after Him."

⁹ Whereby shall a youth purge his path? By keeping Your word. ¹⁰ With all my heart, I have sought after You; O do not let me err from Your instructions." ¹¹ In my heart have I stored up Your promise, That I may not sin against You."

¹ My son, do not forget my law, And let your heart preserve my instructions;"

⁴ He directed me and said to me:May your heart uphold my word; Keep my instruction and live;

²³ More than any guard-post, preserve your heart, For from it spring the outflowings of life."

²⁵ Let your eyes look ahead, And your eyelids straight in front of you." ²⁶ Ponder the route of your foot, And all your ways, let them be established." ²⁷ Do not turn aside to the right or left; Take away your foot from evil.

⁹ He who is wise will also understand these things. These being understood, he will also acknowledge them. For the ways of Yahweh are upright, and the righteous will walk in them. Yet the transgressors shall be stumbled in them."

³⁷ He who is fond of father or mother above Me is not worthy of Me. And he who is fond of son or daughter above Me is not worthy of Me." ³⁸ And he who is not taking his cross and following after Me is not worthy of Me.

²⁶ If anyone is coming to Me and is not hating his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, and still more his soul besides, he can not be My disciple."

¹⁴ For the love of Christ is constraining us, judging this, that, if One died for the sake of all, consequently all died." ¹⁵ And He died for the sake of all that those who are living should by no means still be living to themselves, but to the One dying and being roused for their sakes."

⁵ and not according as we expect, but themselves they give first to the Lord, and to us through the will of God."

¹⁷ Christ to dwell in your hearts through faith, that you, having been rooted and grounded in love,

¹⁹ And we are having the prophetic word more confirmed, which you, doing ideally, are heeding (as to a lamp appearing in a dingy place, till the day should be breaking and the morning star should be rising) in your hearts,

¹⁴ The mouth of the strange woman is a deep pit; He with whom Yahweh is indignant shall fall thereinto.

¹ While Israel dwelt in Shittim, the people started to commit prostitution with the daughters of Moab,

⁴ And it comes to pass afterwards that he loves a woman in the valley of Sorek, and her name [is] Delilah, ⁵ and the princes of the Philistines come up unto her, and say to her, `Entice him, and see wherein his great power [is], and wherein we are able for him--and we have bound him to afflict him, and we--we give to you, each one, eleven hundred silverlings.. <sup>6</sup> And Delilah said unto Samson, `Declare, I pray you, to me, wherein your great power [is], and wherewith you are bound, to afflict you.. ⁷ And Samson said unto her, `If they bind me with seven green withs which have not been dried, then I have been weak, and have been as one of the human race.. <sup>8</sup> And the princes of the Philistines bring up to her seven green withs which have not been dried, and she binds him with them. <sup>9</sup> And the ambush is abiding with her in an inner chamber, and she said unto him, `Philistines [are] upon you, Samson;' and he breaks the withs as a thread of tow is broken in its smelling fire, and his power has not been known. ¹⁰ And Delilah said unto Samson, `Lo, you have played upon me, and speak unto me lies; now, declare, I pray you, to me, wherewith you are bound.. <sup>11</sup> And he said unto her, `If they certainly bind me with thick bands, new ones, by which work has not been done, then I have been weak, and have been as one of the human race.. ¹² And Delilah takes thick bands, new ones, and binds him with them, and said unto him, `Philistines [are] upon you, Samson;' and the ambush is abiding in an inner chamber, and he breaks them from off his arms as a thread. <sup>13</sup> And Delilah said unto Samson, `Hitherto you have played upon me, and do speak unto me lies; declare to me wherewith you are bound.' And he said unto her, `If you weave the seven locks of my head with the web.. <sup>14</sup> And she fixes [it] with the pin, and said unto him, `Philistines [are] upon you, Samson;' and he awakes out of his sleep, and journeys with the pin of the weaving machine, and with the web. ¹⁵ And she said unto him, `How do you say, I have loved you, and your heart is not with me? these three times you have played upon me, and have not declared to me wherein your great power [is].. <sup>16</sup> And it comes to pass, because she distressed him with her words all the days, and does urge him, and his soul is grieved to death, <sup>17</sup> that he declares to her all his heart, and said to her, `A razor has not gone up on my head, for a Nazarite to Elohim I [am] from the womb of my mother; if I have been shaven, then has my power turned aside from me, and I have been weak, and have been as any of the human race.. ¹⁸ And Delilah sees that he has declared to her all his heart, and she sends and calls for the princes of the Philistines, saying, `Come up this time, for he has declared to me all his heart;' and the princes of the Philistines have come up unto her, and bring up the money in their hand. <sup>19</sup> and she makes him sleep on her knees, and calls for a man, and shaves the seven locks of his head, and begins to afflict him, and his power turns aside from off him;" <sup>20</sup> and she said, `Philistines [are] upon you, Samson;' and he awakes out of his sleep, and said, `I go out as time by time, and shake myself;' and he has not known that Yahweh has turned aside from off him. ²¹ And the Philistines seize him, and pick out his eyes, and bring him down to Gaza, and bind him with two brazen fetters; and he is grinding in the prison-house. ²² And the hair of his head begins to shoot up, when he has been shaven,

¹⁶ This will also rescue you from the strange woman, Or from the foreign woman who makes her words slick, ¹⁷ Who forsakes the mentor of her youth, And who forgets the covenant of her Elohim." ¹⁸ For she slips down to death with her house And her routes to the Rephaim; ¹⁹ All who enter it shall not return, Nor shall they overtake the paths of life."

¹² At times in the street, at times in the squares, And beside every corner she waits in ambush."

²² Suddenly he was going after her, Like a bull that comes to the slaughter, Like a calf to the bonds of foolish creatures, ²³ Until an arrow thrusts through his liver, As through a bird that hastened to the snare When it did not know that it was set for its soul." ²⁴ Now then, my sons, hearken to me, And attend to the sayings of my mouth." ²⁵ Do not let your heart swerve to her ways; Do not stray into her tracks. ²⁶ For many are the mortally wounded she has cast down, And plentiful are all those killed by her." ²⁷ Her house is a road to the unseen, One descending to the chambers of death."

¹⁸ But he does not know that the Rephaim are there, That those she has called are in the depths of the unseen."

²⁶ I found more bitter than death:That kind of woman whose heart is like weir traps and seine nets, And her hands like bonds; The man doing well before the One, Elohim, he shall escape from her, And the sinner, he shall be seized by her."

² Lift your eyes to the high places, and see, Where have you not been lain with? On the ways you have sat for them, As an Arab in a wilderness, And you defile the land, By your fornications, and by your wickedness."

¹¹ and wine and grape juice shall take their heart.

⁸ Nor yet may we be committing prostitution, according as some of them commit prostitution, and fall in one day twenty-three thousand."

¹ And one from among the seven messengers who have the seven bowls came, and he speaks with me, saying, "Hither! I shall be showing you the sentence of the great prostitute who is sitting on many waters, ² with whom the kings of the earth commit prostitution, and those dwelling on the earth are made drunk with the wine of her prostitution."

¹² Flushed will be his eyes from wine, and white, his teeth, from milk.

³⁶ And Abigail comes in unto Nabal, and lo, he has a banquet in his house, like a banquet of the king, and the heart of Nabal [is] glad within him, and he [is] drunk unto excess, and she has not declared to him anything, less or more, till the light of the morning. ³⁷ And it comes to pass in the morning, when the wine is gone out from Nabal, that his wife declares to him these things, and his heart dies within him, and he has been as a stone.

²⁸ And Absalom commands his young men, saying, `See, I pray you, when the heart of Amnon [is] glad with wine, and I have said unto you, Smite Amnon, that you have put him to death; fear not; is it not because I have commanded you? be strong, yea, become sons of valor..

¹⁶ and they go out at noon, and Ben-Hadad is drinking--drunk in the booths, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings, helping him. ¹⁷ And the young men of the heads of the provinces go out at the first, and Ben-Hadad sends, and they declare to him, saying, `Men have come out of Samaria.. <sup>18</sup> And he said, `If for peace they have come out--catch them alive; and if for battle they have come out--alive catch them.. ¹⁹ And these have gone out of the city--the young men of the heads of the provinces--and the force that [is] after them, ²⁰ and smite each his man, and Aram flees, and Israel pursues them, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram escapes on a horse, and the horsemen;" ²¹ and the king of Israel goes out, and smites the horses, and the charioteers, and has smitten among the Arameans a great smiting. ²² And the prophet comes nigh unto the king of Israel, and said to him, `Go, strengthen yourself, and know and see that which you do, for at the turn of the year the king of Aram is coming up against you..

²¹ For the carouser and the gluttonous man shall become destitute, And slumber shall clothe one in tatters."

⁷ And, moreover, these by wine, do err, and by an intoxicant they stray. Priest and prophet err by an intoxicant. They are swallowed up because of the wine. They stray because of the intoxicant. They err in sight, quaver in mediation, ⁸ for all tables are full of vomit. There fails to be a place without filth.

¹⁰ Though they are still as entangled briars, and as those groggy with their grog, they shall be devoured as straw fully dry."

⁴⁹ and should begin to beat his fellow slaves, yet may be eating and drinking with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that slave will be arriving on a day for which he is not hoping, and in an hour which he knows not,

⁴⁵ Now if that slave should be saying in his heart, 'My lord is delaying his coming,' and should be beginning both to beat the boys and the maids and to be eating and drinking and to be drunk, ⁴⁶ the lord of that slave will be arriving on a day for which he is not hoping and at an hour which he does not know, and shall be cutting him asunder and shall be appointing his part with the unfaithful."

²¹ And drinking is he of the wine and is drunk, and is exposing himself in the midst of his tent.

⁸ For a cup is in the hand of Yahweh, And the wine foams; it is fully blended, And He shall spill this out; Yea, its lees shall all the wicked of the earth squeeze and drink."

² She has slaughtered her slaughter; She has blended her wine; Indeed, she has arranged her table."

⁶ those drinking wine in sprinkling bowls, and who are anointing with the principal oils, yet are not ill over the breaking of Joseph."

² and it comes to pass, at evening-time, that David rises from off his couch, and walks up and down on the roof of the king's house, and sees from the roof a woman bathing, and the woman [is] of very good appearance,

¹ Howbeit now, I pray, O Job, hear my declarations, And do give ear to all my words.

³⁷ Avert my eyes from looking at futile things; Revive me in Your way.

²⁵ Do not covet after her loveliness in your heart, And do not let her captivate you with her eyelids."

²⁸ Yet I am saying to you that every man looking at a woman to lust for her already commits adultery with her in his heart. ²⁹ Now, if your right eye is snaring you, wrench it out and cast it from you, for it is expedient for you that one of your members should perish and not your whole body be cast into Gehenna. ³⁰ And if your right hand is snaring you, strike it off and cast it from you, for it is expedient for you that one of your members should perish and not your whole body pass away into Gehenna."

⁴⁷ And if your eye should be snaring you, cast it out. It is ideal for you to be entering into the kingdom of God one-eyed, rather than, having two eyes, to be cast into the Gehenna of fire,

⁵ And all the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh when I stretch out My hand over Egypt and bring forth the sons of Israel from their midst. ⁶ So Moses and Aaron did just as Yahweh instructed them; thus they did.

¹² Each man flung his rod, and they became snakes. Then Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

¹⁶ He shall suck the poison of cobras; The tongue of a puff-adder shall kill him.

¹¹ And you have anguish in your latter days When your flesh and your brawn are exhausted,

⁸ He who delves a shaft may fall into it, And he who breaches a stone dike, a serpent may bite him."

³ With their feet will they tramp the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim,

⁵ The eggs of the yellow viper they hatch, and the webs of a spider are they weaving. The eater of their eggs shall die. And that pressed out of it will hatch a puff adder."

³¹ The prophets have prophesied falsely, And the priests bear rule by their means, And My people have loved [it] so, And what do they at its latter end?

¹⁷ For, lo, I am sending among you serpents, Vipers that have no charmer, And they have bitten you, an affirmation of Yahweh."

¹⁹ just as a man is fleeing from the face of the lion, and the bear comes on him, and he enters the house and supports his hand on the sidewall, and the serpent bites him."

³ And if they are hiding in the summit of Carmel, thence will I search and take them. And if they are concealed from in front of My eyes on the floor of the sea, thence will I instruct the serpent, and it will bite them."

²⁵ Now Abraham said, 'Child, be reminded that you got your good things in your life, and Lazarus likewise evil things. Yet now here he is being consoled, yet you are in pain." ²⁶ And in all this, between us and you a great chasm has been established, so that those wanting to cross hence to you may not be able, nor yet those thence may be ferrying to us.'"

²¹ What fruit, then, had you then? - of which you are now ashamed, for, indeed, the consummation of those things is death."

³² Go! Give will we our father wine to drink, and lie with him and keep alive seed from our father. ³³ And giving are they their father wine to drink in that night. And coming is the firstborn, and lying with her father in that night, and he knows not her lying nor her rising. ³⁴ And coming is it on the morrow that the firstborn is saying to the inferior in station, "Behold! I lay yesternight with our father. We will give him wine to drink tonight, moreover. And you come, lie with him, and we will keep alive seed from our father. ³⁵ And, moreover, they are giving their father wine to drink in that night, and rising is the inferior in station, and is lying with her father. And he knows not her lying nor her rising. ³⁶ And pregnant are the two daughters of Lot by their father. ³⁷ And bearing is the firstborn a son, and is calling his name Moab, saying, "From my father.He is the forefather of Moab till this day. ³⁸ And the inferior in station, she, moreover, bears a son, and is calling his name Ben-Ammi. He is the forefather of the sons of Ammon till this day.

¹² Those sitting in the gateway are mulling over me, And those drinking intoxicants make me the accompaniment of their songs."

¹² So as to rescue you from the way of evil, From the man who is speaking duplicity,

⁵ Lest such a one should drink and forget the statute, And alter the adjudication of all the sons of humiliation."

⁴ They drink the turbid wine and laud the elohim of gold, silver, copper, iron, wood, and stone."

⁵ On the day of our king, the chiefs start a fury; because of wine, he draws to his hand the mockers."

¹² These are the reefs in your love feasts, carousing with you fearlessly, shepherding themselves; waterless clouds carried aside by winds; trees that are sear, unfruitful, twice dying, uprooted;" ¹³ wild billows of the sea, frothing forth their own shame; straying stars, for whom the gloom of darkness has been kept for an eon."

⁸ And by the wind of Your anger the waters were denuded, the floods were stood up as a waterspout; the abysses were curdled in the heart of the sea.

³³ and blessed [is] your discretion, and blessed [are] you in that you have restrained me this day from coming in with blood, and to restrain my hand to myself. ³⁴ And yet, Yahweh lives, Elohim of Israel, who has kept me back from doing evil with you, for unless you hadst hasted, and do come to meet me, surely there had not been left to Nabal till the light of the morning, of those sitting on the wall.. ³⁵ And David receives from her hand that which she has brought to him, and to her he has said, `Go up in peace to your house; see, I have hearkened to your voice, and accept your face.. ³⁶ And Abigail comes in unto Nabal, and lo, he has a banquet in his house, like a banquet of the king, and the heart of Nabal [is] glad within him, and he [is] drunk unto excess, and she has not declared to him anything, less or more, till the light of the morning. ³⁷ And it comes to pass in the morning, when the wine is gone out from Nabal, that his wife declares to him these things, and his heart dies within him, and he has been as a stone. ³⁸ And it comes to pass, [in] about ten days, that Yahweh smites Nabal, and he dies,

¹⁶ And he brings him down, and lo, they are spread out over the face of all the earth, eating, and drinking, and feasting, with all the great spoil which they have taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah. ¹⁷ And David smites them from the twilight even unto the evening of the morrow, and there has not escaped of them a man, except four hundred young men who have ridden on the camels, and are fled.

⁹ and conspire against him does his servant Zimri (head of the half of the chariots) and he [is] in Tirzah drinking--a drunkard in the house of Arza, who [is] over the house in Tirzah.

³⁸ For as they were in those days before the deluge, masticating and drinking and marrying and taking in marriage until the day on which Noah entered into the ark,

²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married, they took out in marriage, until the day on which Noah entered into the ark, and the deluge came and destroys them all." ²⁸ Likewise, according as it occurred in the days of Lot, they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built." ²⁹ Yet on the day in which Lot came out from Sodom, fire and sulphur rains from heaven and destroys them all."

² for you yourselves are accurately aware that the day of the Lord is as a thief in the night - thus is it coming! ³ Now whenever they may be saying "Peace and security,then extermination is standing by them unawares, even as a pang over the pregnant, and they may by no means escape." ⁴ Now you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may be overtaking you as a thief, ⁵ for you are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness. ⁶ Consequently, then, we may not be drowsing, even as the rest, but we may be watching and be sober." ⁷ For those who are drowsing are drowsing at night, and those who are drunk are drunk at night."

¹⁹ And it will come to be when he hears the words of this imprecation that he will bless himself in his heart, saying:I shall come to have peace, though I am going in the obduracy of my own heart, seeing that the satiated may be swept up with the thirsty.

¹¹ As a cur returns to its vomit, So a stupid man repeats his folly."

²² Though you bray the fool in a mortar, In the midst of the grist with a pestle, His folly shall not go away from him."

¹² Arrive! We will take wine, and we will carouse with an intoxicant! And it comes, as this day, so the morrow, great, exceedingly exuberant!"

³ Yahweh, Your eyes, are they not on stedfastness? You have smitten them, and they have not grieved, You have consumed them, They have refused to receive instruction, They made their faces harder than a rock, They have refused to turn back."

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself, `You have chastised me, And I am chastised, as a heifer not taught, Turn me back, and I turn back, For you [are] Yahweh my Elohim."

³² if, as a man, I fight wild beasts in Ephesus, what is the benefit to me? If the dead are not being roused, "we may be eating and drinking, for tomorrow we are dying." ³³ Be not deceived: evil conversations are corrupting kind characters. ³⁴ Sober up justly and do not be sinning, for some have an ignorance of God. To abash you am I saying it."

¹⁹ who, being past feeling, in greed give themselves up with wantonness to all uncleanness as a vocation."

²² Now that in the true proverb has befallen them: "A cur turning to its own vomit,and "A bathed sow to her wallowing in the mire."
