¹ In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:" ² Yahweh was wroth over your forefathers with great wrath. ³ Now you shall say to them, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Return to Me, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), and I will return to you, says Yahweh of hosts." ⁴ You must not become as your forefathers, to whom the former prophets called saying, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Return, I pray, from your evil ways, and from your evil actions. Yet they hearkened not, and they attended not to Me, (averring is Yahweh)." ⁵ Your forefathers, where are they? And the prophets, are they living for the eon? ⁶ Yea, My words and My statutes, which you have received, which I instruct, by My spirit, My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your forefathers? And they are turning away and are saying:Just as Yahweh of hosts plans to do to us, as fits our ways and our actions, so He does with us." ⁷ On the twenty fourth day of the eleventh month (it is the month Shebat), in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh comes to Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:" ⁸ I see in the night, and behold! a man riding on a red horse, and he is standing between two mountains, in the shade, and behind him are horses, red, yellow and white." ⁹ Then I am saying, What are these, my lord? And the messenger who is speaking with me is saying to me, I will show you what these are." ¹⁰ And the man standing between the mountains is answering and saying to me, These are those whom Yahweh sends to walk in the earth." ¹¹ And they are answering the messenger of Yahweh standing between the mountains, and are saying, We walk in all the earth, and behold! all the earth is sitting and is quiet." ¹² Then the messenger of Yahweh is answering and saying, Yahweh of hosts, till when wilt You not have compassion on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, which You do menace these seventy years? ¹³ And Yahweh of hosts is answering the messenger who is speaking with me, with good words, comforting words." ¹⁴ And the messenger who is speaking with me is saying to me, Call, saying, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:I am jealous for Jerusalem, and for Zion with a great jealousy, ¹⁵ and with great wrath am I wroth over the nations that are tranquil. When I was a little wroth, then they helped toward the evil." ¹⁶ Therefore thus says Yahweh:I return to Jerusalem with compassions; My house shall be built in it, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), and a tape shall be stretched out on Jerusalem." ¹⁷ And the messenger who is speaking with me is saying to me, Again, call, saying, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:My cities shall again overflow from the good; and Yahweh shall comfort Zion further, and He shall still choose Jerusalem." ¹⁸ Then I am lifting my eyes and am seeing, and behold! four horns." ¹⁹ And I am saying to the messenger who is speaking with me, What are these, my lord? And he is saying to me, These are the horns which winnowed Judah, Israel and Jerusalem." ²⁰ Then Yahweh is showing me four artificers. ²¹ And I am saying, What are these coming to do? And He is speaking to me, saying:These are the horns which winnowed Judah to the extent that a man does not lift up his head. Yet these are coming to sharpen them, to throw off the horns of the nations which are lifting up a horn against the land of Judah to winnow it."

²⁴ Then the work on the House of Eloah in Jerusalem was halted. And it remained halted until the year two of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

¹⁴ So the greyhaired elders of the Judeans and the Levites were rebuilding and prospering because of the prophecy of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah son of Iddo. Thus they rebuilt and completed the work due to the command of Eloah of Israel and due to a decree of Cyrus and Darius and Artaxerxes king of Persia. ¹⁵ This House was finished on day three of the month of Adar, that is, in the year six of the reign of king Darius.

⁴ Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah,

¹⁶ of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;"

¹ In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on day one of the month, the word of Yahweh comes by the hand of Haggai, the prophet, to Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, viceroy of Judah, and to Joshua, son of Josedech, the great priest, saying,

¹⁵ in the twenty fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius, the king."

¹⁰ On the twenty fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh comes to Haggai, the prophet, saying,

²⁰ And the word of Yahweh is coming a second time to Haggai, the prophet, on the twenty fourth of the month, saying,

⁷ On the twenty fourth day of the eleventh month (it is the month Shebat), in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh comes to Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:"

¹ And it is coming in the fourth year of Darius the king that the word of Yahweh comes to Zechariah in the fourth of the ninth month, in Chisleu."

³⁵ so that on you should be coming all the just blood shed on the earth, from the blood of just Abel until the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murder between the temple and the altar."

⁵¹ from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the house. Yea, I am saying to you, It will be exacted from this generation!"

¹⁶ Thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am bringing in evil unto this place and on its inhabitants, all the words of the book that the king of Judah has read, ¹⁷ because that they have forsaken Me, and make perfume to other elohims, so as to provoke Me to anger with every work of their hands, and My wrath has been kindled against this place, and it is not quenched.

¹⁹ because your heart [is] tender, and you are humbled because of Yahweh, in your hearing that which I have spoken against this place, and against its inhabitants, to be for a desolation, and for a reviling, and do rend your garments, and weep before Me--I also have heard--the affirmation of Yahweh-.

²⁶ Only, Yahweh has not turned back from the fierceness of His great anger with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh provoked him,

¹³ and also, against king Nebuchadnezzar he has rebelled, who had caused him to swear by Elohim, and he hardens his neck, and strengthens his heart, against turning back unto Yahweh, Elohim of Israel. ¹⁴ Also, all the heads of the priests, and the people, having multiplied to commit a trespass according to all the abominations of the nations, and they defile the house of Yahweh that He has sanctified in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, sends unto them by the hand of His messengers--rising early and sending--for He has had pity on His people, and on His habitation, ¹⁶ and they are mocking at the messengers of Elohim, and despising His words, and acting deceitfully with His prophets, till the going up of the fury of Yahweh against His people--till there is no healing. ¹⁷ And He causes to go up against them the king of the Chaldeans, and he slays their chosen ones by the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and has had no pity on young man and virgin, old man and very aged--the whole He has given into his hand. ¹⁸ And all the vessels of the house of Elohim, the great and the small, and the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king and of his princes--the whole he has brought in to Babylon. ¹⁹ And they burn the house of Elohim, and break down the wall of Jerusalem, and all its palaces they have burnt with fire, and all its desirable vessels--to destruction. ²⁰ And he removes those left of the sword unto Babylon, and they are to him and to his sons for servants, till the reigning of the kingdom of Persia,

⁶ and said:My Elohim, I am ashamed and confounded to raise up my face to You, my Elohim, for our depravities, they are abundant, above our heads, and our guilt is towering unto the heavens. ⁷ From the days of our fathers we have been in great guilt until this day; because of our depravities we ourselves, our kings, our priests have been given into the hand of the kings of the countries, to the sword, to captivity, to plundering and to shame of face, just as this day.

¹³ After all that has come over us because of our evil deeds and our great guilt--though You, O our Elohim, have kept back, punishing us less than our depravity deserves, and You have given us a deliverance, such as this-.

²⁶ `And they are disobedient, and rebel against You, and cast Your law behind their back, and Your prophets they have slain, who testified against them, to bring them back unto You, and they do great despisings, ²⁷ and You give them into the hand of their adversaries, and they distress them, and in the time of their distress they cry unto You, and You, from the heavens, do hear, and, according to Your abundant mercies, do give to them saviours, and they save them out of the hand of their adversaries.

⁵ How long, O Yahweh? Shall You be angry permanently? How long shall Your jealousy consume like a fire? ⁶ Pour out Your fury on the nations that do not know You, And on kingdoms that do not call on Your Name."

⁶ and poured out is My fury, and Mine anger, and it burns in cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, and they are for a waste, for a desolation, as [at] this day."

¹² Is it nothing to you, all who pass along the way? Look about and see if there is any pain like my pain which is brought on me, With which Yahweh afflicts in the day of His hot anger." ¹³ From on high He sends fire; into my bones He makes it descend; He spreads a net for my feet; He turns me back; He makes me desolate, languishing all the day." ¹⁴ The yoke of my transgressions is bound on; In His hand they intertwine themselves; They ascend upon my neck; it has caused my vigor to falter. Yahweh has given me over into the hands of those I cannot rise against. ¹⁵ Yahweh has cast aside all my sturdy ones in my midst; He has called an appointed assembly against me to break apart my choice young men; Yahweh has trodden the winetrough of the virgin daughter of Judah.

³ He hacked down all the horn of Israel in the heat of anger; He has turned back His right hand in the presence of the enemy; And He is consuming in Jacob like a blazing fire that devours all around. ⁴ He has positioned His bow like an enemy, setting His right hand like a foe; And He is killing all that is coveted by the eye in the tent of the daughter of Zion; He has poured out His fury like fire." ⁵ Yahweh has become like an enemy; He has swallowed up Israel; He has swallowed up all her citadels; He has ruined its fortresses; And He is multiplying, in the daughter of Judah, complaint and complaining."

⁴² We have transgressed and rebelled; You have not pardoned; ⁴³ You have blanketed us with anger and pursued us; You have killed and have not spared; ⁴⁴ You have blanketed Yourself with a cloud to keep prayer from passing through. ⁴⁵ You have made us offscouring and rejection among the peoples;

⁷ Our fathers sinned and are no more, and we ourselves are burdened with their depravities."

³¹ And I pour out on them mine indignation, By fire of My wrath I have consumed them, Their way on their own head I have put, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh!'"

¹¹ All Israel--they trespass against Thy law to withdraw so as not to hearken to Thy voice. Hence pouring forth on us is the imprecation and the oath which is written in the law of Moses, the servant of Elohim; for we sin against Him." ¹² Hence He is setting up His words, which He speaks concerning us and concerning our judges who judge us, to bring on us this great evil which is not done under the entire heavens as it is done in Jerusalem."

¹ Rake yourselves together! And rake together the nation not longed for! ² Ere the generating of the statute, the day shall pass as trash; ere the hot anger of Yahweh be coming on you, ere the day of the anger of Yahweh be coming on you, ³ Seek Yahweh, all the humble of the land, who have contrived His judgment; seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be concealed in the day of Yahweh's anger."

³⁰ and you are saying, 'If we were in the days of our fathers, we would not be participants with them in the blood of the prophets.'" ³¹ So that you are testifying to yourselves that you are the sons of those who murder the prophets. ³² And you! Fill full the measure of your father!

⁵² Which of the prophets do not your fathers persecute? And they kill those who announce before concerning the coming of the Just One, of Whom now you became the traitors and murderers -"

³⁰ In your distress, when all these things find you in the latter days, then you will return to Yahweh your Elohim and hearken to His voice. ³¹ For Yahweh your Elohim is a compassionate El. He shall neither neglect you nor bring ruin on you, nor shall He forget the covenant of your fathers about which He had sworn to them.

² and that you will return again to Yahweh your Elohim and hearken to His voice according to all that I am instructing you today, you and your sons, with all your heart and with all your soul. ³ Then Yahweh your Elohim will turn back your captivity and show compassion to you; He will return and convene you from all the peoples where Yahweh your Elohim will have scattered you. ⁴ If it comes to be that you should be expelled to the end of the heavens, from there Yahweh your Elohim shall convene you, and from there He shall take you. ⁵ Then Yahweh your Elohim will bring you to the land that your fathers tenanted; you will tenant it, and He will bring you good and let you increase more than your fathers. ⁶ Yahweh your Elohim will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed so as to love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may stay alive. ⁷ Then Yahweh your Elohim will put all these imprecations on your enemies and on those hating you, who persecute you. ⁸ As for you, you shall return, and you will hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim; you will obey all His instructions that I am enjoining on you today. ⁹ Then Yahweh your Elohim will give you surplus in goods through all the work of your hand, through the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your domestic beast and the fruit of your ground, for Yahweh shall return to be elated over you for good, just as He was elated over your fathers, ¹⁰ in case you should hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim to observe His instructions and His statutes, the ones written in this scroll of the law, in case you should return to Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul.

⁴⁷ and they have turned [it] back unto their heart in the land whither they have been taken captive, and have turned back, and made supplication unto You, in the land of their captors, saying, We have sinned and done perversely--we have done wickedly;" ⁴⁸ yea, they have turned back unto You, with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and have prayed unto You the way of their land, which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and the house which I have builded for Your name.

⁴ and it turns back in its distress unto Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, and they seek Him, and He is found of them,

⁶ And the runners go with letters from the hand of the king and his heads, into all Israel and Judah, even according to the command of the king, saying, `O sons of Israel, turn back unto Yahweh, Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and He does turn back unto the escaped part that is left of you from the hand of the kings of Asshur;" <sup>7</sup> and do not be like your fathers, and like your brethren, who trespassed against Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, and He gives them to desolation, as you do see. <sup>8</sup> `Now, harden not your neck like your fathers, give a hand to Yahweh, and come in to His sanctuary, that He has sanctified to the eon, and serve Yahweh your Elohim, and the fierceness of His anger does turn back from you;" ⁹ for in your turning back unto Yahweh, your brethren and your sons have mercies before their captors, even to return to this land, for gracious and merciful [is] Yahweh your Elohim, and He does not turn aside the face from you, if you turn back unto Him..

²⁸ `And when they have rest, they turn back to do evil before You, and You do leave them in the hand of their enemies, and they rule over them; and they turn back, and call You, and You from the heavens do hear, and do deliver them, according to Your mercies, many times,

⁶ Return to Him Who deepens counsel, you stubborn sons of Israel!"

⁶ Inquire for Yahweh while He is to be found; call Him while He comes to be near. ⁷ Forsake shall the wicked one his way, and the lawless man his devices, and he shall return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him, and to our Elohim, for he will increasingly pardon your sins."

¹² Go, and you have proclaimed these words toward the north, and have said, Turn back, O backsliding Israel, An affirmation of Yahweh! I cause not Mine anger to fall upon you, For I [am] kind, an affirmation of Yahweh, I watch not to the eon." ¹³ Only, know your iniquity, For against Yahweh your Elohim you have transgressed, And you do scatter your ways to strangers, Under every green tree, And to My voice you have not hearkened, An affirmation of Yahweh." ¹⁴ Turn back, O backsliding sons, An affirmation of Yahweh. For I have ruled over you, And taken you one of a city, and two of a family, And have brought you to Zion,

²² Turn back, O backsliding sons, I cause your backslidings to cease. --Behold us, we have come to You, For You [are] Yahweh our Elohim."

¹ If you do turn back, O Israel, An affirmation of Yahweh, unto Me turn back, And if you do turn aside Your abominations from My face, Then you do not bemoan."

¹⁵ And it has been, after My plucking them out, I turn back, and have pitied them, And I have brought them back, Each to his inheritance, and each to his land."

⁵ `Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell on the ground that Yahweh has given to you and to your fathers from eon unto eon,

¹² `And you have called Me, and have gone, and have prayed unto Me, and I have hearkened unto you, ¹³ And you have sought Me, and have found, for you seek Me with all your heart;" ¹⁴ And I have been found of you--an affirmation of Yahweh; and I have turned back [to] your captivity, and have gathered you out of all the nations, and out of all the places whither I have driven you--an affirmation of Yahweh--and I have brought you back unto the place whence I removed you."

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself, `You have chastised me, And I am chastised, as a heifer not taught, Turn me back, and I turn back, For you [are] Yahweh my Elohim." ¹⁹ For after my turning back I repented, And after my being instructed I struck on the thigh, I have been ashamed, I have also blushed, For I have borne the reproach of my youth." ²⁰ A precious son is Ephraim to Me? A child of delights? For since My speaking against him, I do thoroughly remember him still, Therefore have My bowels been moved for him, I do greatly love him, An affirmation of Yahweh."

¹⁵ And I send unto you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying:Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and amend your doings, yea, you do not walk after other elohims, to serve them, and dwell you on the ground that I have given to you and to your fathers; and you have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto Me."

³⁹ Of what shall a living man complain, a master concerning his sins? ⁴⁰ Let us search and investigate our ways and return unto Yahweh; ⁴¹ Let us lift up our heart with our palms to the El in the heavens:

¹¹ Say unto them, I live--an affirmation of the Lord Yahweh, I delight not in the death of the wicked, But--in the turning of the wicked from his way, And he has lived, Turn back, turn back, from your evil ways, Yea, why do you die, O house of Israel?

¹ Go, and we will return to Yahweh, our Elohim, for He tore to pieces, and He will heal us:He was smiting, and He will bind us up."

¹ Return, O Israel, unto Yahweh, your Elohim, for you stumble in your depravity."

⁴ I will heal their backsliding; I will love them willingly, for My anger is reversed from him."

¹² And, moreover, now, (averring is Yahweh, your Elohim), Return unto Me with all your heart and with fasting and with lamenting and with wailing,

¹⁹ He will return, having compassion on us. He will subdue our depravities. And You wilt fling into the shadowy depths of the sea all our sins." ²⁰ You wilt render the truth to Jacob, the kindness to Abraham, which You swear to our forefathers from days aforetime."

⁷ From the days of your forefathers, you withdrew from My statutes and do not keep them. Return to Me, and I will return to you, says Yahweh of hosts. Yet you say, In what way shall we return?

¹⁸ Rising, I will go to my father and declare to him, "Father, I sinned against heaven and in your sight." ¹⁹ No longer am I worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired men."'" ²⁰ And rising, he came to his father. "Now, at his being still far away, his father perceived him and has compassion, and running, falls on his neck and fondly kisses him." ²¹ Now the son said to him, 'Father, I sinned against heaven and in your sight. No longer am I worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired men.'" ²² Yet the father said to his slaves, 'Quick! Bring forth the first robe, and put it on him, and give him a ring for his hand and sandals for his feet."

⁸ Draw near to God, and He will be drawing near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, double-souled!" ⁹ Be wretched and mourn and lament. Let your laughter be converted into mourning, and joy into dejection." ¹⁰ Be humbled, then, in the Lord's sight, and He shall be exalting you."

¹⁹ And He sends among them prophets, to bring them back unto Yahweh, and they testify against them, and they have not given ear;" ²⁰ and the Spirit of Elohim has clothed Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stands over-against the people, and said to them, `Thus said Elohim, Why are you transgressing the commands of Yahweh, and prosper not? because you have forsaken Yahweh--He does forsake you.. <sup>21</sup> And they conspire against him, and stone him with stones by the command of the king, in the court of the house of Yahweh, <sup>22</sup> and Joash the king has not remembered the kindness that Jehoiada his father did with him, and slays his son, and in his death he said, `Yahweh does see, and require..

⁶ for our fathers have trespassed, and done that which is evil in the eyes of Yahweh our Elohim, and forsake him, and turn round their faces from the tabernacle of Yahweh, and give the neck. ⁷ `Also--they have shut the doors of the porch, and quench the lamps, and perfume they have not made, and burnt-offering have not caused to ascend in the sanctuary to the Elohim of Israel, <sup>8</sup> and the wrath of Yahweh is on Judah and Jerusalem, and He gives them for a trembling, for an astonishment, and for a hissing, as you are seeing with your eyes. <sup>9</sup> And lo, fallen have our fathers by the sword, and our sons, and our daughters, and our wives [are] in captivity for this. <sup>10</sup> `Now--with my heart--to make a covenant before Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, and the fierceness of His anger does turn back from us.

⁷ and do not be like your fathers, and like your brethren, who trespassed against Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, and He gives them to desolation, as you do see.

²¹ `Go, seek Yahweh for me, and for him who is left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found, for great [is] the fury of Yahweh that is poured on us, because that our fathers kept not the word of Yahweh, to do according to all that is written on this book..

¹⁵ And Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, sends unto them by the hand of His messengers--rising early and sending--for He has had pity on His people, and on His habitation, ¹⁶ and they are mocking at the messengers of Elohim, and despising His words, and acting deceitfully with His prophets, till the going up of the fury of Yahweh against His people--till there is no healing.

⁷ From the days of our fathers we have been in great guilt until this day; because of our depravities we ourselves, our kings, our priests have been given into the hand of the kings of the countries, to the sword, to captivity, to plundering and to shame of face, just as this day.

¹⁶ `And they and our fathers have acted proudly, and harden their neck, and have not hearkened unto Your commands,

²⁶ `And they are disobedient, and rebel against You, and cast Your law behind their back, and Your prophets they have slain, who testified against them, to bring them back unto You, and they do great despisings,

³⁰ `And You draw over them many years, and testify against them by Your Spirit, by the hand of Your prophets, and they have not given ear, and You do give them into the hand of peoples of the lands,

⁸ Then they shall not become like their fathers, A generation stubborn and rebellious, A generation that had neither established its heart, Nor was its spirit faithful to El."

⁶ We have sinned with our fathers; We have sown depravity; We have acted wickedly. ⁷ Our fathers in Egypt did not contemplate Your marvelous works; They did not remember Your many benignities, And they defied the Supreme by the Sea of Weeds."

¹⁶ Wash yourselves! Purge yourselves! Take away the evil of your actions from in front of My eyes! ¹⁷ Leave off the evil! Learn to be good! Inquire for judgment! Make happy the wronged! Judge the orphan! Contend for the widow! ¹⁸ Go, pray and it shall be corrected,saying is Yahweh. "If your sins are coming to be as double dipped scarlet, as snow shall they be white. If they are reddened as crimson, as wool shall they become." ¹⁹ If you are willing and hearken, the good of the land shall you eat."

⁹ For a rebellious people are they, sons of dissimulations, sons who would not hearken to the law of Yahweh, ¹⁰ who say to the seers, "You shall not direct us!And to the vision seers, "You shall not perceive correctives for us! Speak to us slick things, perceive trifles." ¹¹ Withdraw from the way, turn aside from the path. Eradicate from our face the Holy One of Israel."

¹² Go, and you have proclaimed these words toward the north, and have said, Turn back, O backsliding Israel, An affirmation of Yahweh! I cause not Mine anger to fall upon you, For I [am] kind, an affirmation of Yahweh, I watch not to the eon."

¹⁶ Thus said Yahweh:Stand you by the ways and see, and ask for paths of old, Where [is] this--the good way? and go you in it, And find rest for yourselves. And they say, `We do not go.'" <sup>17</sup> And I have raised up for you watchmen, Attend you to the voice of the trumpet. And they say, `We do not attend.'"

³ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, Amend your ways, and your doings, And I cause you to dwell in this place." ⁴ Do not trust for yourselves Unto the words of falsehood, saying, The temple of Yahweh, the temple of Yahweh, The temple of Yahweh [are] they!" ⁵ For, if you do thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, If you do judgment thoroughly Between a man and his neighbor, ⁶ Sojourner, fatherless, and widow, you oppress not, And innocent blood do not shed in this place, And after other elohims do not walk, for evil to yourselves, ⁷ Then I have caused you to dwell in this place, In the land that I gave to your fathers, From eon even unto eon."

⁶ And Yahweh said unto me, `Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying:Hear you the words of this covenant, And you have done them." ⁷ For I certainly testified against your fathers, In the day of My bringing them up out of the land of Egypt--till this day, Rising early and testifying, saying, Hearken to My voice, ⁸ And they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, And they walk each in the stubbornness of their evil heart, And I bring on them all the words of this covenant, That I commanded to do, and they did not.'"

⁹ Thus do I mar the excellency of Judah, And the great excellency of Jerusalem." ¹⁰ This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, Who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, And go after other elohims to serve them, And to bow themselves to them, Yea it is--as this girdle, that is not profitable for anything."

¹⁶ Give you to Yahweh your Elohim honor, Before He does cause darkness, And before your feet stumble on dark mountains, And you have waited for light, And He has made it for death-shade, And has appointed [it] for thick darkness." ¹⁷ And if you do not hear it, In secret places does my soul weep, because of pride, Yea, it weeps sore, And the tear comes down mine eyes, For the flock of Yahweh has been taken captive." ¹⁸ Say to the king and to the mistress:Make yourselves low--sit still, For come down have your principalities, The crown of your beauty."

¹⁹ Thus said Yahweh unto me:`Go, and you have stood in the gate of the sons of the people, by which kings of Judah come in, and by which they go out, and in all gates of Jerusalem, ²⁰ and you have said unto them:Hear a word of Yahweh, you kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all inhabitants of Jerusalem, who are coming in by these gates, ²¹ Thus said Yahweh, Take you heed to yourselves, And you bear not a burden on the day of rest, Nor have you brought [it] in by the gates of Jerusalem." ²² Nor do you take out a burden from your houses on the day of rest, Yea, any work you do not do, And you have sanctified the day of rest, As I have commanded your fathers." ²³ And they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, And they stiffen their neck not to hear, And not to receive instruction."

¹¹ And now, speak, I pray you, unto men of Judah, And against inhabitants of Jerusalem, Saying:Thus said Yahweh:Lo, I am framing against you evil, And devising against you a device, Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way And amen your ways and your doings."

³ `From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and unto this day--this three and twentieth year--has the word of Yahweh been unto me, and I speak unto you, rising early and speaking, and you have not hearkened;" <sup>4</sup> And Yahweh has sent unto you all His servants, the prophets, rising early and sending, and you have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear, saying:" <sup>5</sup> `Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell on the ground that Yahweh has given to you and to your fathers from eon unto eon, ⁶ And you do not go after other elohims to serve them, and to bow yourselves to them, nor do you provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, and I do no evil to you;" ⁷ And you have not hearkened unto Me--an affirmation of Yahweh--so as to provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands for evil to you.

⁵ To hearken to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I am sending unto you, yea, rising early and sending, and you have not hearkened,

² `Take to you a roll of a book, and you have written on it all the words that I have spoken unto you concerning Israel, and concerning Judah, and concerning all the nations, from the day I spoke unto you, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day;" <sup>3</sup> if so be the house of Israel do hear all the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, so that they turn back each from is evil way, and I have been propitious to their iniquity, and to their sin.'" <sup>4</sup> And Jeremiah calls Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch writes from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Yahweh, that He has spoken unto him, on a roll of a book." <sup>5</sup> And Jeremiah commands Baruch, saying, `I am restrained, I am not able to enter the house of Yahweh;" ⁶ but you have entered--and you have read in the roll that you have written from my mouth, the words of Yahweh, in the ears of the people, in the house of Yahweh, in the day of the fast, and also in the ears of all Judah who are coming in from their cities you do read them;" ⁷ if so be their supplication does fall before Yahweh, and they turn back each from his evil way, for great [is] the anger and the fury that Yahweh has spoken concerning this people.'" ⁸ And Baruch son of Neriah does according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, to read in the book the words of Yahweh in the house of Yahweh." ⁹ And it comes to pass, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh have all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who are coming in from cities of Judah to Jerusalem;" ¹⁰ and Baruch reads in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Yahweh, in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the opening of the new gate of the house of Yahweh, in the ears of all the people."

²³ and it comes to pass, when Jehudi reads three or four leaves, he cuts it out with the scribe's knife, and has cast unto the fire, that [is] on the stove, till the consumption of all the roll by the fire that [is] on the stove." ²⁴ And the king and all his servants who are hearing all these words have not been afraid, nor rent their garments."

⁴ `And I send unto you all my servants, the prophets, rising early and sending, saying:I pray you, do not this abomination that I have hated--" ⁵ and they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, to turn back from their wickedness, not to make perfume to other elohims,

¹⁶ `The word that you have spoken unto us in the name of Yahweh--we are not hearkening unto you;

⁷ but the house of Israel are not willing to hearken unto you, for they are not willing to hearken unto Me, for all the house of Israel are brazen-faced and strong-hearted." ⁸ `Lo, I have made your face strong against their face, and your forehead strong against their forehead." ⁹ As an adamant harder than a rock I have made your forehead; you do not fear them, nor are you affrighted before them, for a rebellious house [are] they.'"

¹⁴ And--lo, he has begotten a son, And he sees all the sins of his father, That he has done, and he fears, And does not do like them, ¹⁵ On the mountains he has not eaten, And his eyes he has not lifted up Unto idols of the house of Israel, The wife of his neighbor he has not defiled, ¹⁶ A man--he has not oppressed, A pledge he has not bound, And plunder he has not taken away, His bread to the hungry he has given, And the naked he covered with a garment, ¹⁷ From the afflicted he has turned back his hand, Usury and increase he has not taken, My judgments he has done, In My statutes he has walked, He does not die for the iniquity of his father, He does surely live."

³⁰ Therefore, each according to his ways I judge you, O house of Israel? An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh, Turn you back, yea, turn yourselves back, From all your transgressions, And iniquity is not to you for a stumbling-block, ³¹ Cast from off you all your transgressions, By which you have transgressed, And make to you a new heart, and a new spirit, And why do you die, O house of Israel? ³² For I have no pleasure in the death of the dying, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh, And turn you back and live!"

¹³ Wherefore, the intelligent in that season will be still, for it is an evil season." ¹⁴ Inquire for good and not evil, that you may live, and so Yahweh, Elohim of hosts, shall come to be with you, just as you say." ¹⁵ Hate evil and love good, and put judgment in the gateway; perhaps Yahweh, Elohim of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph."

²⁴ Judgment shall roll as water, and righteousness as a perennial watercourse."

⁶ You must not stutter, is what they are stuttering. They shall not stutter about these matters. It will not turn away confoundings."

³ Now you shall say to them, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Return to Me, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), and I will return to you, says Yahweh of hosts."

¹¹ Yet they are refusing to attend, and they are giving a stubborn shoulder, and their ears they make heavy against hearing, ¹² and their hearts they make corundum against hearing the law and the words which Yahweh of hosts sent by His spirit, by the hand of the former prophets. And great wrath is coming from Yahweh of hosts." ¹³ And it is coming, just as he calls and they did not hear, so are they calling, and I am not hearing, says Yahweh of hosts."

⁸ Produce, then, fruit worthy of repentance. ⁹ And you should not be presuming to be saying among yourselves, 'For a father we have Abraham,' for I am saying to you that able is God, out of these stones to rouse children to Abraham. ¹⁰ "Yet already the ax is lying at the root of the trees. Every tree, then, which is not producing ideal fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

¹⁹ Repent, then, and turn about for the erasure of your sins, so that seasons of refreshing should be coming from the face of the Lord,

⁵¹ Stiff-necked and uncircumcised in your hearts and ears, you are ever clashing with the holy spirit! As your fathers, you also!" ⁵² Which of the prophets do not your fathers persecute? And they kill those who announce before concerning the coming of the Just One, of Whom now you became the traitors and murderers -"

²⁰ but first to those in Damascus, besides in Jerusalem also, besides to the entire province of Judea, and to the nations, I reported that they are to be repenting and turning back to God, engaging acts worthy of repentance."

¹⁵ who kill the Lord Jesus as well as the prophets, and banish us, and are not pleasing to God, and are contrary to all men, ¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the nations that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always. Yet the indignation outstrips to them to a consummation."

¹⁸ being aware that not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, were you ransomed from your vain behavior, handed down by tradition from the fathers,

¹⁰ Yet a master shall die and be laid defeated; A human shall expire, and where is he? ¹¹ As waters depart from the sea, And a stream is drained and dries up, ¹² So a man lies down and shall not rise; Until the heavens fail, they shall not awake, Nor shall they rouse from their sleep.

¹⁰ The days of our years, in them are seventy years, And if by mastery there are eighty years, Yet even in their heyday is toil and sorrow, For it is sheared off hurriedly, and we fly away."

⁴ One generation goes, and another generation comes, Yet the earth is standing for the eon."

¹ For I laid all this on my heart, and my heart saw all this:That the righteous and the wise and their services are in the hand of the One, Elohim; Whether it will be love or hate, a man is not able to know; Everything before them is vanity." ² Just as to all, one event happens, to the righteous one and to the wicked one, to the good one and to the bad one, To the clean one and to the unclean one, To the one who sacrifices and to him who makes no sacrifice, So it is for the good person as for the sinner, For the one who swears just as for one fearful of an oath." ³ This is the evil in all that is done under the sun:That one destiny is for all; Moreover the heart of the sons of humanity is full of evil, And ravings are in their heart throughout their life, Yet after it, they are joined to the dead."

⁵ Moreover, one fears lofty heights, And catastrophes are on the road, When the almond tree flowers, And the grasshopper is burdensome, And the caperberry's effects are annulled, When man goes to his eonian home, And those lamenting turn about in the street;"

⁷ And the soil returns to the earth just as it was, And the spirit, it returns to the One, Elohim, Who gave it."

⁵² The Jews said to Him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets, and you are saying, 'If ever anyone should be keeping my word, he should under no circumstances be tasting death for the eon.'"

³⁶ For David, indeed, subserving his own generation by God's counsel, was put to repose, and was added to his fathers, and was acquainted with decay;"

²³ And these indeed, are more than one, having become priests because death prevents them from abiding;" ²⁴ yet that One, because of His remaining for the eon, has an inviolate priesthood."

²⁷ And, in as much as it is reserved to the men to be dying once, yet after this a judging,

² to remind you of the declarations which have been declared before by the holy prophets, and of the precept of your apostles of the Lord and Saviour, ³ knowing this first, that in the last days scoffers will be coming with scoffing, going according to their own desires" ⁴ and saying, "Where is the promise of His presence? For since the fathers were put to repose, all is continuing thus from the beginning of creation."

¹⁹ El is not a man that He should lie. Nor a son of humanity that He should feel regret. Does He say it and then not do it? Or speak and then not carry it out?

²³ Yet if you shall not do so, behold, you will have sinned against Yahweh; realize that your sin shall find you.

⁵⁶ And it will come to be:just as I meant to do to them, I shall do to you.

¹⁵ It will come to be if you do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim to observe and to do all His instructions and His statutes that I am enjoining on you today, that all these maledictions will come on you and overtake you.

²⁰ Yahweh shall send the curse, the discomfiture and the rebuke on you in every undertaking of your hand that you shall do, until you are exterminated and you perish quickly, in view of the evil of your actions in which you have forsaken Me.

⁴⁵ All the maledictions will come on you, and they will pursue you and overtake you until you are exterminated, for you would not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim to observe His instructions and His statutes that He enjoined on you.

¹⁷ And He causes to go up against them the king of the Chaldeans, and he slays their chosen ones by the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and has had no pity on young man and virgin, old man and very aged--the whole He has given into his hand. ¹⁸ And all the vessels of the house of Elohim, the great and the small, and the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king and of his princes--the whole he has brought in to Babylon. ¹⁹ And they burn the house of Elohim, and break down the wall of Jerusalem, and all its palaces they have burnt with fire, and all its desirable vessels--to destruction. ²⁰ And he removes those left of the sword unto Babylon, and they are to him and to his sons for servants, till the reigning of the kingdom of Persia, ²¹ to fulfil the word of Yahweh in the mouth of Jeremiah, till the land has enjoyed its sabbaths; all the days of the desolation it kept sabbath--to the fulness of seventy years.

²⁹ Relent, I pray; let it not become iniquity, And relent further; my righteousness is at stake in it.

⁸ For faltered has Jerusalem, and Judah falls, for their tongue is offensive, and their actions against Yahweh are defiant, therefore, now, humbled is their glory." ⁹ The cut of their faces answers against them. And they tell their sin as Sodom. They do not suppress it. Alack to their soul! For they requite them with evil! ¹⁰ Say to the righteous that good is his portion, for the fruit of their actions are they eating." ¹¹ Alack to the wicked one; evil is his portion, for the requital of his hands is returning to him."

²⁶ setting up the word of His servant, and performing the counsel of His messengers. Saying to Jerusalem, `You shall be indwelt,' and to the cities of Judah, `You shall be built,' and `Its deserted places I will raise up.'"

¹ Ho! Every thirsty one! Go to the water! And he who has no money, go, purchase and eat and drink, and go, purchase with no money and with no price, wine and milk."

⁴ Be circumcised to Yahweh, And turn aside the foreskins of your heart, O man of Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury go out as fire, and has burned, And there is none quenching, Because of the evil of your doings."

¹⁶ And it has come to pass, If they learn well the ways of My people, To swear by My name, `Yahweh lives,' As they taught My people to swear by Baal, Then they have been built up in the midst of My people." ¹⁷ And if they do not hearken, Then I have plucked up that nation, Plucking up and destroying, An affirmation of Yahweh!'"

⁸ And that nation has turned from its evil, Because I have spoken against it, Then I have repented of the evil that I thought to do to it." ⁹ And the moment I speak concerning a nation, And concerning a kingdom, to build, and to plant, ¹⁰ And it has done the evil thing in Mine eyes, So as not to hearken to My voice, Then I have repented of the good That I have spoken of doing to it." ¹¹ And now, speak, I pray you, unto men of Judah, And against inhabitants of Jerusalem, Saying:Thus said Yahweh:Lo, I am framing against you evil, And devising against you a device, Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way And amen your ways and your doings."

²⁰ The anger of Yahweh does not turn back Till His doing, and till His establishing, The thoughts of His heart, In the latter end of the days you attend to it With understanding."

¹⁵ Only, know you certainly, that if you are putting me to death, surely innocent blood you are putting on yourselves, and on this city, and on its inhabitants; for truly has Yahweh sent me unto you to speak in your ears all these words.'"

²⁸ `And the escaped of the sword turn back out of the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, few in number, and known have all the remnant of Judah who are coming into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, whose word is established, Mine or theirs."

¹⁸ Yahweh, He is righteous, for I have rebelled against His bidding; Hearken now all you peoples, and see my pain; My virgins and my choice young men, they have gone into captivity."

¹⁷ Yahweh has done what He had planned; He has carried through His saying, What He determined from days long ago; He has demolished and has not spared; And He is making the enemy rejoice over you; He exalts the horn of your foes."

¹¹ Yahweh has made His fury whole; He has poured out His hot anger; And He is ravaging with fire in Zion which is devouring its foundations. ¹² The kings of the earth did not believe, nor any of the dwellers of the habitance, That foe and enemy could enter into the gateways of Jerusalem."

²⁵ For I [am] Yahweh, I speak, The word that I speak--it is done, It is not prolonged any more, For, in your days, O rebellious house, I speak a word, and I have done it, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh.'" ²⁶ And there is a word of Yahweh unto me, saying:" ²⁷ `Son of man, lo, the house of Israel are saying, The vision that he is seeing [is] for many days, and of times far off he is prophesying, ²⁸ therefore say unto them:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:None of my words are prolonged any more, When I speak a word--it is done, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh!'"

⁴³ And you have remembered there your ways, And all your doings, In which you have been defiled, And you have been loathsome in your own faces, For all your evils that you have done."

¹¹ And He said unto me, `Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; lo, they are saying:Dried up have our bones, And perished has our hope, We have been cut off by ourselves."

⁶ Wherefore, behold Me hedging her way with briars, and I dike her with a stone dike, and she will not find her tracks." ⁷ And she pursues her lovers yet shall not overtake them, and she seeks them yet shall not find them. And she says, I will go and return to my first husband, for it was better for me then than now." ⁸ Yet she knew not that I gave her the grain and the grape juice and the clarified oil. And I increased silver and gold for her, which they made into a Baal." ⁹ Wherefore I will return, and I take My grain in its season and My grape juice in its appointment. And I rescue My wool and My flax given to cover her nakedness." ¹⁰ And now I will expose her decadence to the eyes of her lovers, and no man shall rescue her from My hand." ¹¹ And I cause all her elation to cease, her celebration and her new moon, and her sabbath, and her every appointment."

¹⁵ All their evil is in Gilgal, for there I hated them. On account of the evil of their actions, from My house will I drive them out. I will continue to love them. All their chiefs are stubborn."

¹⁰ By the sword shall die all the sinners of My people, those saying, the evil shall not come close, nor forestall about us."

¹⁸ And you shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between a servant of Elohim and him who does not serve Him."

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall be passing by, yet My words may by no means be passing by."

⁴ Now you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may be overtaking you as a thief,

¹ In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:"

³ And coming is the Elohim to Abimelech in a dream in the night, and is saying to him, "Behold yourself dying on account of the woman whom you take, when she is possessed by a possessor.

¹³ And it comes to pass in Joshua's being by Jericho, that he lifts up his eyes, and looks, and lo, one standing over-against him, and his drawn sword in his hand, and Joshua goes unto him, and said to him, `Are you for us or for our adversaries?.

⁵ In Gibeon has Yahweh appeared unto Solomon, in a dream of the night, and Elohim said, `Ask--what do I give to you?.

¹³ In disquieting thoughts from visions of the night, In that stupor which falls on mortals,

³ Gird Your sword on Your thigh, O Master, Your splendor and Your honor." ⁴ And in Your honor prosper, ride forth On behalf of truth and humility and righteousness; Then may Your right hand direct You in fear inspiring deeds."

¹⁶ My darling is mine, and I am his; He is grazing his flock among the anemones."

² My darling has descended to his garden, To the beds of aromatics, To graze in the gardens And to glean anemones."

¹⁹ I will bestow the cedar in the wilderness, the acacia and the myrtle and the oleaster tree. I will place the fir in the gorge, the elm and the box together,

¹³ And instead of the thorn tree, up shall come the fir, and instead of the nettle, up shall come the myrtle. And it comes to be to Yahweh for a name, and for a sign eonian that shall not be cut off."

¹⁵ For thus says Yahweh, high and lifted up, who tabernacles the future, and holy is His name:"In the high and holy place am I tabernacling, and with the crushed and lowly spirit, to preserve alive the spirit of the lowly, and to preserve alive the heart of the crushed."

¹ Who is This, coming from humanity, with fermented garments from the vintage? This One, in His clothing of honor, marching in the vastness of His vigor?I, speaking in righteousness, and contending to save!" ² For what reason is there red on Your clothing, and Your garments are as the treader's in a wine trough? ³ The winepress I trod alone, and of the peoples there is no man `with Me, and I am treading them in My anger, and trampling them in My fury, and their gore is spattering on My garments, and all My clothing I sully." ⁴ For the day of vengeance came for them, and the year of My redeemed has come."

¹⁹ Then to Daniel in a vision that night, the secret of the king is revealed. Then Daniel blesses the Eloah of the heavens."

² Daniel is responding as follows:Perceiving am I in my vision by night, and behold, four winds of the heavens are rushing forth to the vast sea,

¹³ Perceiving am I in the visions of the night, and behold, on the clouds of the heavens, One as a son of a mortal is arriving:Unto the Transferrer of Days He reaches, and they bring Him near before Him;"

² For the first chariot are red horses, and for the second chariot are dusky horses, ³ and for the third chariot are white horses, and for the fourth chariot are dappled, resolute horses." ⁴ And I am answering and am saying to the messenger who is speaking with me, What are these, my lord? ⁵ And the messenger is answering and saying to me, These are the four spirits of the heavens faring forth from stationing themselves with the Lord of the entire earth." ⁶ The dusky horses which are in it are faring forth to the land of the north, and the white fare forth after them, and the dappled fare forth to the south land." ⁷ And the resolute fare forth and are seeking to go to walk in the land. And he is saying, Go, walk in the land. And they are walking in the land."

⁷ O sword! rouse against My Shepherd, and against the Master, My Companion, (averring is Yahweh of hosts). Smite the Shepherd, and the flock is scattering. And I restore My hand on the inferior shepherds."

¹ To the messenger of the ecclesia in Ephesus write: `Now this He is saying Who is holding the seven stars in His right hand, Who is walking in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:"

⁴ And forth came another horse, fiery-red, and to him who is sitting on it was given to take peace out of the earth, and that they should be slaying one another. And a huge sword was given to him."

¹⁹ And I perceived the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered to do battle with Him Who is sitting on the horse and with His army." ²⁰ And the wild beast is arrested, and with it the false prophet who does the signs in its sight, by which he deceives those getting the emblem of the wild beast, and those worshiping its image. Living, the two were cast into the lake of fire burning with sulphur." ²¹ And the rest were killed with the blade which is coming out of the mouth of Him Who is sitting on the horse. And all the birds are satisfied with their flesh.

¹¹ And saying to me is a messenger of the Elohim in a dream. `Jacob!' And saying am I,`Behold me!.

¹⁶ I draw near to one of the risers, and as to the certainty of all this am I petitioning him. Then he speaks to me, and the interpretation of the matter is he making known to me."

¹⁵ And coming is it when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and am seeking for understanding, behold, standing in front of me is one having the appearance of a master." ¹⁶ I am hearing a human voice between the banks of the Ulai, and it is calling and saying, "Gabriel, make this one to understand the sight."

²² And he is approaching and speaking with me, saying, "Daniel, now I fare forth to give you an intelligent understanding." ²³ At the start of your supplications a word from Yahweh fared forth, and I come to tell you, for a man of coveted qualities are you. "Then understand what is in the word and understand what is in the sight."

¹¹ Then he is saying to me, "Daniel, man of coveted qualities, understand the words which I am speaking to you and stand upright, for now am I sent to you.And at his speaking with me this word, I stand quivering." ¹² Then he is saying to me, "You must not fear, Daniel, for from the first day on which you gave your heart to understand and to humble yourself before Yahweh your Elohim, your words were heard, and I came because of your words;" ¹³ yet the chief of the kingdom of Persia was standing to confront me twenty- one days. Yet behold, Michael, one of the first chiefs, came to help me. And I left him there beside the chief of the kings of Persia." ¹⁴ Then he said to me, "I come to cause you to understand what will befall your people in the latter days; for the vision is for future days."

¹⁹ And I am saying to the messenger who is speaking with me, What are these, my lord? And he is saying to me, These are the horns which winnowed Judah, Israel and Jerusalem."

³ And behold! the messenger who is speaking with me is faring forth, and another messenger is faring forth to meet him."

⁴ And I am answering, and am saying to the messenger who is speaking with me, saying, What are these my lord? ⁵ And the messenger who is speaking with me is answering and is saying to me, Do you know what these are?

¹¹ Then I am answering and am saying to him, What are these two olive trees at the right of the lampstand and at its left?

⁵ Then the messenger who is speaking with me is faring forth and is saying to me, Lift, I pray, your eyes and see what this is that is faring forth."

⁴ And I am answering and am saying to the messenger who is speaking with me, What are these, my lord? ⁵ And the messenger is answering and saying to me, These are the four spirits of the heavens faring forth from stationing themselves with the Lord of the entire earth."

¹³ And one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These clothed in white robes, who are they, and whence came they? ¹⁴ And I have declared to him: "My lord, you are aware.And he said to me, "These are those coming out of the great affliction. And they rinse their robes, and they whiten them in the blood of the Lambkin."

¹ And one from among the seven messengers who have the seven bowls came, and he speaks with me, saying, "Hither! I shall be showing you the sentence of the great prostitute who is sitting on many waters, ² with whom the kings of the earth commit prostitution, and those dwelling on the earth are made drunk with the wine of her prostitution." ³ And he carries me away, in spirit, into a wilderness. And I perceived a woman sitting on a scarlet wild beast replete with names of blasphemy, and having seven heads and ten horns." ⁴ And the woman was clothed with purple and scarlet, and gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, brimming with abominations and the uncleannesses of the prostitution of her and the earth." ⁵ And on her forehead is written a name: Secret Babylon the Great the mother of the prostitutes and the abominations of the earth. ⁶ And I perceive the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And I marvel at perceiving her. The marvel is great!" ⁷ And the messenger said to me, "Wherefore do you marvel? I shall be declaring to you the secret of the woman and of the wild beast which is bearing her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns."

⁹ And he is saying to me, "Write: 'Happy are those invited to the wedding dinner of the Lambkin.'And he is saying to me, "These are the true sayings of God." ¹⁰ And I fall in front of his feet to worship him. And he is saying to me, "See! No! A fellow slave of yours am I, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

⁸ And I, John, am the one hearing and observing these things. And when I hear and observe, I fall to worship in front of the feet of the messenger who is showing me these things." ⁹ And he is saying to me, "See! No! a fellow slave of yours am I, and of your brethren, the prophets and those keeping the sayings of this scroll. Worship God!" ¹⁰ And he is saying to me, "You should not be sealing the sayings of the prophecy of this scroll, for the era is near." ¹¹ Let the injurer injure still; and let the filthy one be filthy still; and let the just one do righteousness still; and let the holy one be hallowed still." ¹² Lo! I am coming swiftly, and My wage is with Me, to pay each one as his work is." ¹³ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Origin and the Consummation." ¹⁴ Happy are those who are rinsing their robes, that it will be their license to the log of life, and they may be entering the portals into the city." ¹⁵ Outside are curs, and enchanters, and paramours, and murderers, and idolaters, and everyone fabricating and fondling falsehood." ¹⁶ I, Jesus, send My messenger to testify these things to you in the ecclesias. I am the root and the race of David, the resplendent morning star."

²⁴ And left is Jacob alone. And wrestling is a Man with him till the ascending of the dawn. ²⁵ And seeing is he that he does not prevail against Him. Yet touching is He the palm of his thighbone. And strained is the palm of Jacob's thighbone in his wrestling with Him. ²⁶ And saying is He to him, "Send Me away, for the dawn ascends.And saying is he, "Not letting You go am I save You bless me. ²⁷ And saying is He to him, "What is your name?And saying is he, "Jacob. ²⁸ And saying is He to him, "Not Jacob shall your name be called longer, but rather Israel is your name. For upright are you with the Elohim and with mortals, and are prevailing. ²⁹ And asking is Jacob and saying, "Tell me, pray, your name.And saying is He, "Why is this that you are asking for My name?And blessing him is He there. ³⁰ And calling is Jacob the name of the place Peniel, "for I see the Elohim face to face, and rescued is my soul. ³¹ And irradiating him is the sun as he passes Peniel. Yet he is limping on his thigh.

⁷ Yahweh said to Satan, From where are you coming? Then Satan answered Yahweh and said, From going to and fro in the earth and from walking about in it.

¹ The day came around again when the sons of Elohim came to station themselves before Yahweh, and Satan came also in their midst to station himself before Yahweh. ² Yahweh said to Satan, From where are you coming? Then Satan answered Yahweh and said, From going to and fro in the earth and from walking about in it.

²⁰ Bless Yahweh, all His messengers, Masters of valor, doing His word, So as to hearken to the voice of His word!" ²¹ Bless Yahweh, all His hosts, Who are ministering to Him, Doing what is acceptable to Him!"

⁵ And out of its midst [is] a likeness of four living creatures, and this [is] their appearance; a likeness of man [is] to them, ⁶ and four faces [are] to each, and four wings [are] to each of them, ⁷ and their feet [are] straight feet, and the sole of their feet [is] as a sole of a calf's foot, and they are sparkling as the color of bright brass;" ⁸ and hands of man under their wings--on their four sides, and their faces and their wings--[are] to them four;" ⁹ joining one unto another [are] their wings, they turn not round in their going, each straight forward they go." ¹⁰ As to the likeness of their faces, the face of a man, and the face of a lion, toward the right [are] to them four, and the face of an ox on the left [are] to them four, and the face of an eagle [are] to them four." ¹¹ And their faces and their wings are separate from above, to each [are] two joining together, and two are covering their bodies." ¹² And each straight forward they go, whither the spirit is to go, they go, they turn not round in their going." ¹³ As to the likeness of the living creatures, their appearances [are] as coals of fire--burning as the appearance of lamps; it is going up and down between the living creatures, and brightness [is] to the fire, and out of the fire is going forth lightning." ¹⁴ And the living creatures are running, and turning back, as the appearance of the flash."

³ In the belly he took his brother by the heel, yet in his virility he was upright with Elohim." ⁴ And he is controlling the Messenger, and is prevailing; he laments and is supplicating to Him. In Bethel He is finding him, and there He is speaking with him." ⁵ And Yahweh is Elohim of the hosts; Yahweh is His remembrance.

⁸ I see in the night, and behold! a man riding on a red horse, and he is standing between two mountains, in the shade, and behind him are horses, red, yellow and white."

¹¹ And they are answering the messenger of Yahweh standing between the mountains, and are saying, We walk in all the earth, and behold! all the earth is sitting and is quiet."

¹⁰ For who despises the day of small things? And they shall rejoice and see the stone plumb in the hand of Zerubbabel. These seven are the eyes of Yahweh; they are going to and fro in the entire land.

⁵ And the messenger is answering and saying to me, These are the four spirits of the heavens faring forth from stationing themselves with the Lord of the entire earth." ⁶ The dusky horses which are in it are faring forth to the land of the north, and the white fare forth after them, and the dappled fare forth to the south land." ⁷ And the resolute fare forth and are seeking to go to walk in the land. And he is saying, Go, walk in the land. And they are walking in the land." ⁸ And he is crying out to me, and is speaking to me, saying:See, those faring forth to the land of the north cause my spirit to rest in the land of the north."

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits commissioned for service because of those who are about to be enjoying the allotment of salvation?

¹⁷ The chariots of Elohim are myriads--repeated thousands. Yahweh is among them, as in Sinai in the holy place."

⁷ At rest, quiet, is the entire earth. Crash do they into jubilation."

²⁰ Then he is saying to me, "You know why I come to you? Now I will return to fight with the chief of the king of Persia. While I am faring forth, behold, the chief of Greece comes!"

¹⁰ And the man standing between the mountains is answering and saying to me, These are those whom Yahweh sends to walk in the earth."

¹⁵ and with great wrath am I wroth over the nations that are tranquil. When I was a little wroth, then they helped toward the evil."

⁷ And the resolute fare forth and are seeking to go to walk in the land. And he is saying, Go, walk in the land. And they are walking in the land."

⁴¹ The Son of Mankind shall be dispatching His messengers, and they shall be culling out of His kingdom all the snares and those doing lawlessness,

⁴⁹ Thus shall it be in the conclusion of the eon. The messengers will be coming out and they will be severing the wicked from the midst of the just.

³⁰ And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Mankind in heaven, and then all the tribes of the land shall grieve, and they shall see the Son of Mankind coming on the clouds of heaven with power and much glory." ³¹ And He shall be dispatching His messengers with a loud sounding trumpet, and they shall be assembling His chosen from the four winds, from the extremities of the heavens to their extremities."

³¹ Now, whenever the Son of Mankind may be coming in His glory, and all the holy messengers with Him, then shall He be seated on the throne of His glory,

³ Now whenever they may be saying "Peace and security,then extermination is standing by them unawares, even as a pang over the pregnant, and they may by no means escape."

⁷ and to you who are being afflicted, ease, with us, at the unveiling of the Lord Jesus from heaven with His powerful messengers,

¹ The Unveiling of Jesus Christ, which God gives to Him, to show to His slaves what must occur swiftly; and He signifies it, dispatching through His messenger to His slave John,

²⁰ Behold, I shall be sending a messenger before you to keep you in the way and to bring you to the place which I have prepared. ²¹ Guard yourself in view of him and hear his voice. Do not embitter him, for he shall not bear with your transgression, for My name is within him. ²² In case you should hearken, yea hearken to his voice and do all that I am speaking, then I will be Enemy of your enemies and will be Foe of your foes. ²³ For My messenger shall go before you and will bring you to the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Canaanite, the Gergashite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, and I will suppress them.

²¹ to fulfil the word of Yahweh in the mouth of Jeremiah, till the land has enjoyed its sabbaths; all the days of the desolation it kept sabbath--to the fulness of seventy years.

⁵ O Elohim, You know my folly, And my guilty acts are not suppressed from You."

¹⁰ How long, O Elohim, shall the foe reproach? Shall the enemy spurn Your Name permanently?

¹³ You Yourself shall rise; You shall have compassion on Zion, For it is the era to be gracious to her, Since the appointed time has come."

⁹ in all their distress He is not a foe, not an agent or a messenger, but His presence saved them. In His love, and by His sparing, He, He redeems them, and He will transport and assist them all the days of the eon."

⁹ You must not be wroth with us, Yahweh, unto excess, and You must not, for the future, be remembering our depravity. Behold! Look, pray! Your people are we all." ¹⁰ The cities of Your holy place come to be a wilderness. Zion becomes as a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation." ¹¹ The house, our holy place, and our beauty, where our forefathers praised You, came to be burned with fire, and all that we covet came to be demolished." ¹² On account of all this wilt You check Yourself, Yahweh? Are You hushing and humiliating us unto excess?

¹¹ And all this land has been for a waste, for an astonishment, and these nations have served the king of Babylon seventy years." ¹² `And it has come to pass, at the fulness of seventy years, I charge against the king of Babylon, and against that nation--an affirmation of Yahweh--their iniquity, and against the land of the Chaldeans, and have appointed it for desolations eonian."

¹⁰ `For thus said Yahweh, Surely at the fulness of Babylon--seventy years--I inspect you, and have established towards you My good word, to bring you back unto this place."

² in year one of his reign, I, Daniel, understand by the scrolls the number of years which came by the word of Yahweh to Jeremiah the prophet, to fulfill for deserted Jerusalem, seventy years."

¹⁰ And the man standing between the mountains is answering and saying to me, These are those whom Yahweh sends to walk in the earth." ¹¹ And they are answering the messenger of Yahweh standing between the mountains, and are saying, We walk in all the earth, and behold! all the earth is sitting and is quiet."

⁵ Say to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When you fasted and wailed in the fifth and in the seventh months, even this seventy years--did you really fast to Me?

²⁵ Whence, also, He is able to save to the uttermost those coming to God through Him, always being alive to be pleading for their sake."

¹⁰ And they cry with a loud voice, saying, "Till when, O Owner, holy and true, art Thou not judging and avenging our blood on those dwelling on the earth?

¹ Comfort you, comfort you My people!saying is your Elohim." ² Speak you to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her, for fulfilled is her enlistment, for run out is her depravity, for she takes from the hand of Yahweh a shelter from all her sins."

¹⁰ And you, be not afraid, My servant Jacob, An affirmation of Yahweh, Nor be affrighted, O Israel, For, lo, I am saving you from afar, And your seed from the land of their captivity, And Jacob has turned back and rested, And is quiet, and there is none troubling." ¹¹ For with you [am] I, An affirmation of Yahweh--to save you, For I make an end of all the nations Whither I have scattered you, Only, of you I do not make an end, And I have chastised you in judgment, And do not entirely acquit you." ¹² For thus said Yahweh:Incurable is your breach, grievous your stroke, ¹³ There is none judging your cause to bind up, Healing medicines there are none for you." ¹⁴ all loving you have forgotten you, You they do not seek, For with the stroke of an enemy I smote you, The chastisement of a fierce one, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, Mighty have been your sins!" ¹⁵ What! --you cry concerning your breach! Incurable [is] your pain, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, Mighty have been your sins! I have done these to you." ¹⁶ Therefore all consuming you are consumed, And all your adversaries--all of them--Into captivity do go, And your spoilers have been for a spoil, And all your plunderers I give up to plunder." ¹⁷ For I increase health to you, And from your strokes I do heal you, An affirmation of Yahweh, For `Outcast' they have called to you, `Zion it [is], there is none seeking for her.'" ¹⁸ Thus said Yahweh:Lo, I turn back [to] the captivity of the tents of Jacob, And his dwelling places I pity, And the city has been built on its heap, And the palace according to its ordinance remains." ¹⁹ And gone forth from them has thanksgiving, And the voice of playful ones, And I have multiplied them and they are not few, And made them honorable, and they are not small." ²⁰ And his sons have been as aforetime, And his company before Me is established, And I have seen after all his oppressors." ²¹ And his honorable one has been of himself, And his ruler from his midst goes forth, And I have caused him to draw near, And he has drawn nigh unto Me, For who [is] he who has pledged his heart To draw nigh unto Me? An affirmation of Yahweh." ²² And you have been to Me for a people, And I am to you for Elohim."

³ From afar Yahweh has appeared to me, With love eonian I have loved you, Therefore I have drawn you [with] kindness." ⁴ Again do I build you, And you have been built, O virgin of Israel, Again you put on your tabrets, And have gone out in the chorus of the playful." ⁵ Again you do plant vineyards In mountains of Samaria, Planters have planted, and made common." ⁶ For there is a day, Cried have watchmen on mount Ephraim, `Rise, and we go up to Zion, unto Yahweh our Elohim;" ⁷ For thus said Yahweh:Sing, O you to Jacob, [with] joy, And cry aloud at the head of the nations, Sound you, praise you, and say, Save, O Yahweh, your people, the remnant of Israel." ⁸ Lo, I am bringing them in from the north country, And have gathered them from the sides of the earth, Among them [are] blind and lame, Conceiving and travailing one--together, A great assembly--they turn back hither." ⁹ With weeping they come in, And with supplications I bring them, I cause them to go unto streams of waters, In a right way--they stumble not in it, For I have been to Israel for a father, And Ephraim--My first-born [is] he." ¹⁰ Hear a word of Yahweh, O nations, And declare you among isles afar off, and say:He who is scattering Israel does gather him, And has kept him as a shepherd [does] his flock, ¹¹ For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, And redeemed him from a hand stronger than he." ¹² And they have come in, And have sung in the high place of Zion, And flowed unto the goodness of Yahweh, For wheat, and for new wine, and for oil, And for the young of the flock and herd, And their soul has been as a watered garden, And they add not to grieve any more." ¹³ Then rejoice does a virgin in a chorus, Both young men and old men--together, And I have turned their mourning to joy, And have comforted them, And gladdened them above their sorrow, ¹⁴ And satisfied the soul of the priests [with] fatness, And My people with My goodness are satisfied, An affirmation of Yahweh."

¹¹ In that day will I raise up the fallen booth of David, and I will dike with stones its breaches, and its demolished places will I raise, and I will build it as in the days of the eon, ¹² that they may tenant the remnant of Edom, and all the nations over whom My name is called, (averring is Yahweh, the Doer of this)." ¹³ Behold! the days are coming, (averring is Yahweh), when the plowman will draw close to the reaper, and the treader of grapes to the one drawing forth the seed from the sack. And the mountains shall drop with juice, and all the hills shall dissolve." ¹⁴ And I will reverse the captivity of My people Israel, and they shall build the desolated cities and dwell in them. And they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and shall make gardens and eat their fruit." ¹⁵ And I will plant them on their ground, and not again shall they be plucked up off their ground which I give to them. Says Yahweh, your Elohim, Him Who-Suffices."

¹⁴ Be jubilant, daughter of Zion! Shout, Israel! Rejoice and joy with all the heart, daughter of Jerusalem!" ¹⁵ Yahweh takes away your judgments; He faces your enemies about. The King of Israel, Yahweh, is within you; you shall see no further evil." ¹⁶ In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, You must not fear! Zion, you must not slacken your hands!" ¹⁷ Yahweh, your Elohim, is within you; He, the Master, will save. He will be elated over you with rejoicing; He will renew you in His love; He will exult over you with jubilation." ¹⁸ Those from you, afflicted because of the appointment, I will gather, Woe! Who lifts over her a reproach? ¹⁹ Behold Me dealing with all those humbling you, at that season, (averring is Yahweh). And I will save her who is limping, and her who is expelled will I convene; and I will make them a praise and a name in the entire earth of their shame." ²⁰ At that season will I bring you in, even at the season of my convening you; for I will give you a name and a praise among all the peoples of the earth, in My reversal of your captivities before your eyes, says Yahweh."

⁹ Then I am saying, What are these, my lord? And the messenger who is speaking with me is saying to me, I will show you what these are."

¹⁴ And the messenger who is speaking with me is saying to me, Call, saying, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:I am jealous for Jerusalem, and for Zion with a great jealousy, ¹⁵ and with great wrath am I wroth over the nations that are tranquil. When I was a little wroth, then they helped toward the evil." ¹⁶ Therefore thus says Yahweh:I return to Jerusalem with compassions; My house shall be built in it, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), and a tape shall be stretched out on Jerusalem."

⁴ And he is saying to him, Run, speak to this youth, saying:As unwalled villages shall Jerusalem dwell, because of the multitude of humans and beasts in her midst." ⁵ And I will become for her, (averring is Yahweh), a wall of fire round about. And for glory will I become in her midst." ⁶ Woe! Woe! Flee also from the land of the north, (averring is Yahweh). For as the four winds of the heavens have I spread you, (averring is Yahweh)." ⁷ Woe, Zion! Escape, you dwellers with the daughter of Babylon." ⁸ For thus says Yahweh of hosts:After the glory He sends me to the nations, your looters; for he who is touching you is touching the apple of My eye." ⁹ For behold Me waving My hand over them, and they will become loot for their servants. Then you shall know that Yahweh of hosts sent me." ¹⁰ Be jubilant and rejoice, daughter of Zion! For behold Me coming! And I tabernacle in your midst, (averring is Yahweh)." ¹¹ And many nations shall be obligated to Yahweh in that day, and they become His people. When I tabernacle in your midst, then shall you know that Yahweh of hosts sent me to you." ¹² And Yahweh has alloted to Judah his portion on the holy ground. And He still chooses Jerusalem.

¹ Then the messenger who spoke with me is returning, and he is rousing me as a man who is being roused from his sleep."

² Thus says Yahweh of hosts:I am jealous over Zion with great jealousy, and with great fury am I jealous over her." ³ Thus says Yahweh:I return to Zion, and I tabernacle in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem is called the city of truth, and the mountain of Yahweh of hosts, the holy mountain." ⁴ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Old men and old women shall yet sit in the squares of Jerusalem, and each man with his staff in his hand because of many days;" ⁵ and the squares of the city shall be filled with boys and girls sporting in its squares. ⁶ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:In case it is marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, in My eyes, moreover, shall it be marvelous, (averring is Yahweh of hosts)." ⁷ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Behold Me saving My people from the land of the sunrise, and from the land of the setting of the sun." ⁸ And I will bring them, and they shall tabernacle in the midst of Jerusalem, and they become Mine for a people, and I will become theirs for an Elohim, in truth and in righteousness."

¹⁹ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall become to the house of Judah elation and rejoicing and good appointments, and you will exult. Hence love truth and peace!"

⁷ To the increase of the chieftainship, and to the welfare shall be no end. On the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to prepare it, and to brace it with judgment and with justice, henceforth and in the future eon. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this."

²² And saying is Hezekiah, "What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of Yahweh Elohim?

¹ Comfort you, comfort you My people!saying is your Elohim."

⁶ A voice says, "Call!And I say, "What shall I call?All flesh is grass, and all its glory is as the blossom of the field."

¹³ Yahweh Elohim as a master shall fare forth, as a man of war shall He rouse jealousy. He shall shout. Indeed, He shall shriek. He has the mastery over His enemies."

¹⁷ And He will put on righteousness as a coat of mail, and the helmet of salvation on His head. And he will put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and muffle as with a robe of jealousy."

¹⁵ Look from the heavens, and see from the residence of Your holiness and Your beauty. Where is Your zeal and Your mastery? Where is the clamor of Your bowels? And Your compassions toward us, do they check themselves?

⁸ How shall I dispense to you, Ephraim? Shall I award you, Israel? How shall I dispense to you as Admah? Shall I make you as Zeboim? My heart is turned in Me; my comfortings are fervid together."

¹⁸ Then Yahweh will be jealous for His land, and He will spare His people."

² An El, jealous and avenging, is Yahweh. An avenger is Yahweh, and possessor of fury. An avenger is Yahweh to His foes, and a transporter is He of his enemies."

¹³ And Yahweh of hosts is answering the messenger who is speaking with me, with good words, comforting words."

¹⁷ And the messenger who is speaking with me is saying to me, Again, call, saying, Thus says Yahweh of hosts:My cities shall again overflow from the good; and Yahweh shall comfort Zion further, and He shall still choose Jerusalem."

³ And behold! the messenger who is speaking with me is faring forth, and another messenger is faring forth to meet him." ⁴ And he is saying to him, Run, speak to this youth, saying:As unwalled villages shall Jerusalem dwell, because of the multitude of humans and beasts in her midst."

² Thus says Yahweh of hosts:I am jealous over Zion with great jealousy, and with great fury am I jealous over her." ³ Thus says Yahweh:I return to Zion, and I tabernacle in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem is called the city of truth, and the mountain of Yahweh of hosts, the holy mountain."

²⁶ As for You, they persecute those whom You have smitten, And they are recounting the pain of those wounded by You."

² For behold, Your enemies, they are clamoring, And those hating You, they lift up their head." ³ Against Your people are they carrying on deliberation in craftiness, And they are intriguing against Your secluded ones." ⁴ They say, Come, and let us suppress them as a nation, So that the name of Israel shall not be remembered any more." ⁵ For they have intrigued in heart together; Against You are they contracting a covenant,

⁴ For itself is our soul greatly surfeited With the derision of the self-satisfied, With the contempt of the proud."

⁷ Remember, O Yahweh, against Edom's sons, In Jerusalem's day, Those who were saying, Raze it, raze it, Even to its foundation."

⁵ Woe, Assyria! Club of My anger! And a rod! He, in their hand, is My menace!" ⁶ Among a nation polluted will I send him. And against a people, object of My rage, will I instruct him. To loot loot and to plunder plunder, and to place them for tramping, as the clay of the streets." ⁷ Yet he, not so is he planning, and his heart, not so is devising, for to exterminate is in his heart, and to cut off nations not a few."

⁶ I was wroth over My people, and I violated My allotment, and was giving them into your hand, yet you show them no compassion. On the old you make your yoke exceedingly heavy." ⁷ Yet you are saying, `For an eon will I be mistress still!' You do not lay these things to heart; you are not mindful of your hereafter." <sup>8</sup> And now, hear this, luxuriant one, dwelling trustingly, who is saying in her heart, `I, and only I, further! I shall not sit, a widow, nor see bereavement.'" ⁹ Yet now these two shall come to you in a moment; in one day, bereavement and widowhood, suddenly they shall come on you in your many enchantments, in the staunchness of your magic charms, exceedingly."

⁸ In effervescent wrath I concealed My face a moment from you, yet with kindness eonian have I compassion on you,says your Redeemer, Yahweh."

¹¹ Secure is Moab from his youth, And at rest [is] he for his preserved things, And he has not been emptied out from vessel unto vessel, And into captivity he has not gone, Therefore has his taste remained in him, And his fragrance has not been changed." ¹² Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Yahweh, And I have sent to him wanderers, And they have caused him to wander, And his vessels they empty out, And his bottles they dash in pieces." ¹³ And ashamed has been Moab because of Chemosh, As the house of Israel have been ashamed Because of Beth-El their confidence."

²⁴ And I have recompensed to Babylon, And to all inhabitants of Chaldea, All the evil that they have done in Zion, Before your eyes--an affirmation of Yahweh."

³⁴ Devoured us, crushed us, has Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, He has set us [as] an empty vessel, He has swallowed us as a dragon, He has filled his belly with my dainties, He has driven us away." ³⁵ My wrong, and [that of] my flesh [is] on Babylon, Say does the inhabitant of Zion, And my blood [is] on the inhabitants of Chaldea, Say does Jerusalem."

³ and you have said to the sons of Ammon:Hear you a word of the Lord Yahweh:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of your saying, Aha, to My sanctuary, Because it has been polluted, And unto the ground of Israel, Because it has been desolate, And unto the house of Judah, Because they have gone into a removal:" ⁴ Therefore, lo, I am giving you to sons of the east for a possession, And they set their towers in you, And have placed in you their tabernacles. They eat your fruit, and they drink your milk, ⁵ And I have given Rabbah for a habitation of camels, And the sons of Ammon for the crouching of a flock, And you have known that I [am] Yahweh." ⁶ For thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of your clapping the hand, And of your stamping with the foot, And you rejoice with all your despite in soul Against the ground of Israel, ⁷ Therefore, lo, I--I have stretched out My hand against you, And have given you for a portion to nations, And I have cut you off from the peoples, And caused you to perish from the lands; I destroy you, and you have known that I [am] Yahweh." ⁸ Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of the saying of Moab and Seir:Lo, as all the nations [is] the house of Judah;" ⁹ Therefore, lo, I am opening the shoulder of Moab--From the cities--from his cities--from his frontier, The beauty of the land, Beth-Jeshimoth, Baal-Meon, and Kiriathaim,

¹² Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of the doings of Edom, In taking vengeance on the house of Judah, Yea, they are very guilty, And they have taken vengeance on them." ¹³ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh:I have stretched out My hand against Edom, And I have cut off from it man and beast, And given it up--a waste, from Teman even to Dedan, By sword they do fall." ¹⁴ And I have given My vengeance on Edom, By the hand of My people Israel, And they have done in Edom, According to My anger, and according to My fury, And they have known My vengeance, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh." ¹⁵ Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of the doings of the Philistines in vengeance, And they take vengeance with despite in soul, To destroy--the enmity eonian!" ¹⁶ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I am stretching out My hand against the Philistines, And I have cut off the Cherethim, And destroyed the remnant of the haven of the sea, ¹⁷ And done upon them great vengeance with furious reproofs, And they have known that I [am] Yahweh, In My giving out My vengeance on them!"

² Because that Tyre has said of Jerusalem:Aha, she has been broken, the doors of the peoples, She has turned round unto me, I am filled--she has been laid waste,

⁶ And known have all inhabitants of Egypt That I [am] Yahweh, Because of their being a staff of reed to the house of Israel." ⁷ In their taking hold of you by your hand, --you are crushed, And have rent to them all the shoulder, And in their leaning on you you are broken, And have caused all their thighs to stand."

⁴ Therefore, O mountains of Israel, Hear a word of the Lord Yahweh:Thus said the Lord Yahweh, to mountains, and to hills, To streams, and to valleys, And to wastes that [are] desolate, And to cities that are forsaken, That have been for a prey, And for a scorn, to the remnant of the nations who [are] round about." ⁵ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Have I not, in the fire of My jealousy, Spoken against the remnant of the nations, And against Edom--all of it, Who gave My land to themselves for a possession, With the joy of the whole heart--with despite of soul, For the sake of casting it out for a prey?

³ Thus says Yahweh, Due to three transgressions of Damascus, and due to four, I will not turn it back, due to their threshing Gilead with iron spikes." ⁴ I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the citadels of the son of Hadad." ⁵ And I will break the bar of Damascus, and cut off the dweller from the valley of Aven, and smite the upholder of the scepter from the house of Eden, and they will deport the people of Syria toward Kir, says Yahweh." ⁶ Thus says Yahweh, Due to three transgressions of Gaza, and due to four, I will not turn it back, due to their deporting a balanced deportation, to surrender it to Edom." ⁷ I will send a fire into the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour her citadels." ⁸ And I will cut off the dweller from Ashdod, and the upholder of the scepter from Ashkelon, and I will reverse My hand on Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, says my Lord Yahweh." ⁹ Thus says Yahweh, Due to three transgressions of Tyre, and due to four, I will not turn it back, due to their surrendering a balanced deportation to Edom, since they do not remember the covenant of brethren." ¹⁰ I will send a fire into the wall of Tyre, and it shall devour her citadels." ¹¹ Thus says Yahweh, Due to three transgressions of Edom, and due to four, I will not turn it back, due to his pursuing his brother with the sword, since he ruins his own compassions. His anger is preying into the future, and his rage, he keeps it permanently." ¹² I will send a fire into Teman, and it shall devour the citadels of Bozrah." ¹³ Thus says Yahweh, Due to three transgressions of the sons of Ammon, and due to four, I will not turn it back, due to their rending the pregnant of Gilead, that they may widen their boundary."

¹ Woe to the tranquil in Zion and those trusting in the mountain of Samaria!--The specified men of the first of the nations, and to them to whom the house of Israel comes."

¹⁰ Because of wrong done to your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off for the eon." ¹¹ In the day that you stood aloof, in that day aliens captured his army, and foreigners entered his gateways, and over Jerusalem they handled the lot. Moreover, you were as one of them!" ¹² Yet you must not stare in the day of your brother, in the day of his disaster. And you must not rejoice over the sons of Judah, in the day of their destruction. And you must not magnify your mouth, in the day of distress." ¹³ You must not enter into the gateway of My people, in the day of their calamity. Moreover, you must not see his evil, in the day of his calamity. And you must not be set to fight against his army, in the day of his calamity." ¹⁴ And you must not stand at the breach to cut off his delivered ones. And you must not enclose his survivors, in the day of distress." ¹⁵ For near is the day of Yahweh over all the nations. Just as you do, it shall be done to you. Your requital shall return on your own head." ¹⁶ For just as you drink on My holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink turbid wine, and they shall drink and swallow absinth, and they shall become as if not having become."

² Yahweh was wroth over your forefathers with great wrath.

⁶ For whom the Lord is loving He is disciplining, Yet He is scourging every son to whom He is assenting." ⁷ For discipline are you enduring. As to sons is God bringing it to you, for what son is there whom the father is not disciplining?

⁷ As much as she glorifies herself and indulges, so much torment and mourning be giving her, for she is saying in her heart, 'I am sitting a queen, and am no widow, and mourning I may by no means see.'" ⁸ Therefore in one day shall her calamities be arriving; death and mourning and famine. And she shall be burned up with fire, for strong is the Lord God Who judges her."

⁵ Who determined its measurements--for surely you know! Or who stretched out a tape upon it?

¹ And you will say, in that day, "I am acclaiming You, Yahweh, for You wast angry with me, yet reversing is Your anger, and You are comforting me."

¹¹ Yet the pelican shall tenant it and the hedgehog, and the eagle owl and the raven shall roost in it. And leveling tape of chaos shall stretch out over it, and the plumb stones of vacancy."

²⁶ setting up the word of His servant, and performing the counsel of His messengers. Saying to Jerusalem, `You shall be indwelt,' and to the cities of Judah, `You shall be built,' and `Its deserted places I will raise up.'" <sup>27</sup> Saying to the sinkhole, `Be drained.' And `Your streams I will dry.'" <sup>28</sup> Saying as to Cyrus, `My shepherd,' and `All My desire he will perform.' Saying as to Jerusalem, `It shall be built.' And the temple, `It shall be founded.'"

⁸ In effervescent wrath I concealed My face a moment from you, yet with kindness eonian have I compassion on you,says your Redeemer, Yahweh." ⁹ For this is the waters of Noah to Me. As I swore off from passing the waters of Noah again over the earth, so I swore off from wrath over you further and from rebuking you." ¹⁰ For the mountains shall remove, and the hills shall slip, yet My kindness from you shall not remove, and the covenant of My welfare shall not slip, says your Compassionate One, Yahweh."

²² Till when do you withdraw yourself, O backsliding daughter? For Yahweh has prepared a new thing in the land, Woman does compass man." ²³ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, Still they say this word in the land of Judah, And in its cities, In My turning back [to] their captivity, Yahweh does bless you, habitation of righteousness, Mountain of holiness." ²⁴ And dwelt in Judah have husbandmen, and in all its cities together, And they have journeyed in order." ²⁵ For I have satiated the weary soul, And every grieved soul I have filled.'"

³⁹ And gone out again has the measuring line Over-against it, unto the height of Gareb, And it has compassed to Goah." ⁴⁰ And all the valley of the carcases and of the ashes, And all the fields unto the brook Kidron, Unto the corner of the horse-gate eastward, [Are] holy to Yahweh, it is not plucked up, Nor is it thrown down any more to the eon!"

¹⁰ Thus said Yahweh:Again heard in this place of which you are saying, Waste it [is], without man and without beast, In cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, That are desolated, without man, And without inhabitant, and without beast, ¹¹ Is a voice of joy and a voice of gladness, Voice of bridegroom, and voice of bride, The voice of those saying, Thank Yahweh of Hosts, for Yahweh [is] good, For His kindness [is] to the eon, Who are bringing in thanksgiving to the house of Yahweh, For I turn back the captivity of the land, As at the first, said Yahweh." ¹² Thus said Yahweh of Hosts:Again there is in this place--that is waste, Without man and beast, And in all its cities--a habitation of shepherds, Causing the flock to lie down."

²⁴ And My servant David [is] king over them, And one shepherd have they all, And in My judgments they go, And My statutes they keep, and have done them." ²⁵ And they have dwelt on the land that I gave to My servant, to Jacob, In which your fathers have dwelt, And they have dwelt on it, they and their sons, And their son's sons--unto the eon, And David My servant [is] their prince--to the eon." ²⁶ And I have made to them a covenant of peace, A covenant eonian it is with them, And I have placed them, and multiplied them, And placed My sanctuary in their midst--to the eon." ²⁷ And My tabernacle has been over them, And I have been to them for Elohim, And they have been to Me for a people." ²⁸ And known have the nations that I Yahweh am sanctifying Israel, In My sanctuary being in their midst--to the eon!'"

²⁵ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Now do I bring back the captivity of Jacob, And I have pitied all the house of Israel, And have been zealous for My holy name." ²⁶ And they have forgotten their shame, And all their trespass that they trespassed against Me, In their dwelling on their land confidently and none troubling." ²⁷ In My bringing them back from the peoples, I have assembled them from the lands of their enemies, And I have been sanctified in them before the eyes of the many nations, ²⁸ And they have known that I [am] Yahweh their Elohim, In My removing them unto the nations, And I have gathered them unto their land, And I leave none of them any more there." ²⁹ And I hide not any more My face from them, In that I have poured out My spirit on the house of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh!'"

³ And He brings me in thither, and lo, a man, his appearance as the appearance of brass, and a thread of flax in his hand, and a measuring-reed, and he is standing at the gate,

³ In the going out of the man eastward, and a line in his hand, then he measures a thousand by the cubit, and he causes me to pass over into water--water to the ankles."

³⁵ Round about [is] eighteen thousand, and the renown of the city [is] from the day Yahweh [is] there.'"

¹⁴ And Yahweh is rousing the spirit of Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, viceroy of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, son of Josedech, the great priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they are coming and doing work on the house of Yahweh of hosts, their Elohim,

¹ Then I am lifting my eyes and am seeing, and behold! a man, and in his hand a measuring line." ² And I am saying to him, Whither are you going? And he is saying to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length."

¹⁰ Be jubilant and rejoice, daughter of Zion! For behold Me coming! And I tabernacle in your midst, (averring is Yahweh)." ¹¹ And many nations shall be obligated to Yahweh in that day, and they become His people. When I tabernacle in your midst, then shall you know that Yahweh of hosts sent me to you."

⁹ The hands of Zerubbabel laid the foundation of this house, and his hands shall complete it. Then shall you know that Yahweh of hosts sent me to you."

³ Thus says Yahweh:I return to Zion, and I tabernacle in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem is called the city of truth, and the mountain of Yahweh of hosts, the holy mountain."

⁶ and I fix on Jerusalem for My name being there, and I fix on David to be over My people Israel.

³ And these [are] heads of the province who have dwelt in Jerusalem, and in cities of Judah, they have dwelt each in his possession in their cities; Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the sons of the servants of Solomon.

²⁰ And the rest of Israel, of the priests, of the Levites, [are] in all cities of Judah, each in his inheritance;"

³⁵ For Elohim shall save Zion And shall rebuild the cities of Judah. Then they will dwell there and tenant it,

¹³ For Yahweh has chosen Zion; He yearns for it as His dwelling place: ¹⁴ This is My resting place unto the future; Here shall I dwell, for I yearn for it."

¹ For Yahweh will have compassion on Jacob, and He chooses still in Israel, and He leaves them on their own ground. And the sojourners are obligated to them, and they are adherents to the house of Jacob."

⁸ Now you, Israel, My servant; Jacob, whom I have chosen; the seed of Abraham, My love, whom I encourage;" ⁹ from the ends of the land, and from beside it I called you. And I am saying to you, `My servant are you. I choose you, and I do not reject you."

¹³ Jubilate, O heavens! And exult, O earth! Crash, O mountains, into jubilation! And the hills into righteousness! For Yahweh is comforting His people, and on His humble is He having compassion."

³ For comforted by Yahweh is Zion, He comforts all her deserted ones. And He will constitute her wilderness as Eden, and her gorge as the garden of Yahweh. Elation and rejoicing shall be found in her, acclamation and the sound of melody."

¹² I, I am He, your Comforter. Who are you, that you are fearing a mortal who is dying, and a son of Adam who as grass is drying?

⁹ Crash! Jubilate together, deserted places of Jerusalem, for Yahweh is comforting His people, and He has redeemed Jerusalem."

⁴ And they will build the places deserted for an eon; the former desolations shall they raise. And they will renew the cities deserted; the desolations of generation after generation shall they raise. ⁵ And aliens will stand and graze your flocks, and sons of foreigners will be your farmers and your vineyardists." ⁶ And you, priests of Yahweh shall be called, "Ministers of our Elohim,to you shall be said. The estate of nations shall you eat, and with their glory you shall change yourselves."

¹³ As a man whom his mother is comforting, so will I comfort you. And in Jerusalem shall you be comforted."

¹³ Then rejoice does a virgin in a chorus, Both young men and old men--together, And I have turned their mourning to joy, And have comforted them, And gladdened them above their sorrow,

²³ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, Still they say this word in the land of Judah, And in its cities, In My turning back [to] their captivity, Yahweh does bless you, habitation of righteousness, Mountain of holiness." ²⁴ And dwelt in Judah have husbandmen, and in all its cities together, And they have journeyed in order."

⁴³ and bought has been the field in this land of which you are saying, A desolation it [is], without man and beast, it has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans." ⁴⁴ Fields with money they buy, so as to write in a book, and to seal, and to cause witnesses to testify, in the land of Benjamin, and in suburbs of Jerusalem, and in cities of Judah, and in cities of the hill-country, and in cities of the low country, and in cities of the south, for I turn back their captivity--an affirmation of Yahweh.'"

¹³ In the cities of the hill-country, In the cities of the low country, And in the cities of the south, And in the land of Benjamin, And in the suburbs of Jerusalem, And in the cities of Judah, Again does the flock pass by under the hands of the numberer, said Yahweh."

¹⁰ And I have multiplied on you men, All the house of Israel--all of it, And the cities have been inhabited, And the wastes are built." ¹¹ And I have multiplied on you man and beast, And they have multiplied and been fruitful, And I have caused you to dwell according to your former states, And I have done better than at your beginnings, And you have known that I [am] Yahweh."

³³ Thus said the Lord Yahweh:In the day of My cleansing you from all your iniquities, I have caused the cities to be inhabited, And the wastes have been built,

¹⁴ And I will reverse the captivity of My people Israel, and they shall build the desolated cities and dwell in them. And they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and shall make gardens and eat their fruit."

²⁰ And the deportation, these valorous of the sons of Israel, shall tenant the land which is the Canaanites' unto Zarephas, and the deportation of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall tenant the cities of the south rim."

¹⁵ Yahweh takes away your judgments; He faces your enemies about. The King of Israel, Yahweh, is within you; you shall see no further evil." ¹⁶ In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, You must not fear! Zion, you must not slacken your hands!" ¹⁷ Yahweh, your Elohim, is within you; He, the Master, will save. He will be elated over you with rejoicing; He will renew you in His love; He will exult over you with jubilation."

¹² And Yahweh has alloted to Judah his portion on the holy ground. And He still chooses Jerusalem.

² And Yahweh is saying to Satan, Yahweh is rebuking you, Satan. And Yahweh Who is choosing Jerusalem is rebuking you. Is not this wooden poker being rescued from the fire?

²⁸ As to the evangel, indeed, they are enemies because of you, yet, as to choice, they are beloved because of the fathers." ²⁹ For unregretted are the graces and the calling of God.

⁴ according as He chooses us in Him before the disruption of the world, we to be holy and flawless in His sight,

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel has Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur come, and takes Ijon, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and removes them to Asshur.

¹ In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah reigned has Hoshea son of Elah in Samaria, over Israel--nine years, ² and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, only, not as the kings of Israel who were before him;" ³ against him came up Shalmaneser king of Asshur, and Hoshea is to him a servant, and does render to him a present. ⁴ And the king of Asshur finds in Hoshea a conspiracy, in that he has sent messengers unto So king of Egypt, and has not caused a present to go up to the king of Asshur, as year by year, and the king of Asshur restrains him, and binds him in a house of restraint. ⁵ And the king of Asshur goes up into all the land, and he goes up to Samaria, and lays siege against it three years;" ⁶ in the ninth year of Hoshea has the king of Asshur captured Samaria, and removes Israel to Asshur, and causes them to dwell in Halah, and in Habor, [by] the river Gozan, and [in] the cities of the Medes.

⁹ And it comes to pass, in the fourth year of king Hezekiah--it [is] the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel--come up has Shalmaneser king of Asshur against Samaria, and lays siege to it, ¹⁰ and they capture it at the end of three years; in the sixth year of Hezekiah--it [is] the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel--has Samaria been captures, ¹¹ and the king of Asshur removes Israel to Asshur, and placed them in Halah, and in Habor [by] the river Gozan, and [in] cities of the Medes, ¹² because that they have not hearkened to the voice of Yahweh their Elohim, and transgress His covenant--all that He commanded Moses, servant of Yahweh--yea, they have not hearkened nor done [it].

¹ In his days has Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon come up, and Jehoiakim is to him a servant three years; and he turns and rebels against him, ² and Yahweh sends against him the troops of the Chaldeans, and the troops of Aram, and the troops of Moab, and the troops of the sons of Ammon, and He sends them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Yahweh, that He spoke by the hand of His servants the prophets;" ³ only, by the command of Yahweh it has been against Judah to turn [them] aside from His presence, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did, ⁴ and also the innocent blood that he has shed, and he fills Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Yahweh was not willing to forgive. ⁵ And the rest of the matters of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? ⁶ And Jehoiakim lies with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigns in his stead. ⁷ And the king of Egypt has not added any more to go out from his own land, for the king of Babylon has taken, from the brook of Egypt unto the river Phrat, all that had been to the king of Egypt. ⁸ A son of eighteen years [is] Jehoiachin in his reigning, and three months he has reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Nehushta, daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem, ⁹ and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his fathers did. ¹⁰ At that time come up have servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Jerusalem, and the city goes into siege, ¹¹ and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon comes against the city, and his servants are laying siege to it, ¹² and Jehoiachin king of Judah goes out unto the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his chiefs, and his eunuchs, and the king of Babylon takes him in the eighth year of his reign, ¹³ and brings out thence all the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the house of the king, and cuts in pieces all the vessels of gold that Solomon king of Israel made in the temple of Yahweh, as Yahweh had spoken. ¹⁴ And he has removed all Jerusalem, and all the chiefs, and all the mighty ones of valor--ten thousand [is] the removal--and every artificer and smith, none has been left save the poor of the people of the land. ¹⁵ And he removes Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the mother of the king, and the wives of the king, and his eunuchs, and the mighty ones of the land--he has caused a removal to go from Jerusalem to Babylon, ¹⁶ and all the men of valor seven thousand, and the artificers and the smiths a thousand, the whole [are] mighty men, warriors; and the king of Babylon brings them in a captivity to Babylon. ¹⁷ And the king of Babylon causes Mattaniah his father's brother to reign in his stead, and turns his name to Zedekiah. ¹⁸ A son of twenty and one years [is] Zedekiah in his reigning, and eleven years he has reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah, ¹⁹ and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh according to all that Jehoiakim did, ²⁰ for, by the anger of Yahweh it has been against Jerusalem and against Judah, till he cast them out from His presence, that Zedekiah rebels against the king of Babylon.

³⁷ You, O king, are king of kings, seeing that the Eloah of the heavens grants a safeguarded kingdom to you, and might and honor and esteem." ³⁸ In every place where the sons of mortals are abiding, the animal of the field, the flyer of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, He grants into your hand. He gives you authority over them all. You are the head that is gold." ³⁹ In your place shall arise another kingdom of the earth, inferior to you, that is silver; and another kingdom, the third, that is copper, shall have authority in all the earth." ⁴⁰ The fourth kingdom shall be mighty as iron, forasmuch as iron is pulverizing and overcoming all. As iron that smashes, all these shall it pulverize and smash." ⁴¹ Seeing that you perceived the feet and toes, part of them of potter's clay, and part of them of iron:The kingdom shall be composite. And the stability of iron will be in it, forasmuch as you perceived the iron mixed with the muddy clay." ⁴² And the toes of the feet, part of them of iron and part of them of clay:at the end, the kingdom shall be mighty, yet part of it shall be frail." ⁴³ Seeing that you perceived the iron mixed with muddy clay:Thus mixing with wealth is the armed force of the mortal. Yet with wealth it is not clinging, this one with that one, even as iron mixes not with clay."

³ and four monstrous animals are coming up from the sea, diverse one from another." ⁴ The eastern animal is a lioness, and she has the wings of a vulture. Perceiving am I till her wings are scraped off, and she is tilted up from the earth and is set up on her feet as a mortal, and the heart of a mortal is being granted to her." ⁵ And behold, another animal, a second, like a she-bear; one part is set up, and three ribs are in her mouth between her teeth. Thus are they saying to her, "Rise! Eat huge amounts of flesh." ⁶ In place of this perceiving am I, and behold, another animal, as a leopardess; she has four flyer's wings on her arched back, and four heads has the animal. Jurisdiction is being granted to her." ⁷ In place of this perceiving am I in the visions of the night, and behold, a fourth animal, terrifying and awful, and exuberantly mighty; she has monstrous iron teeth, devouring and pulverizing and stamping upon the remainder with her feet. She is diverse from all the animals that are east of her, and she has ten horns." ⁸ Contemplating am I the horns, and lo, another bit of a horn comes up among them, and three of the eastern horns are felled to stumps before it. And lo, eyes as the eyes of a mortal are in this horn, and a mouth declaring monstrous things, and it is making war with the saints."

³ Then I am lifting my eyes and I am seeing, and behold, one ram standing before the canal, and it has two horns. The horns are lofty, yet the one is loftier than the other, and the loftier one is coming up last." ⁴ I see the ram rushing forth seaward, northward and toward the southland. No animals at all are standing before him, and there is no rescuing from his hand. He does as is acceptable to himself and magnifies himself." ⁵ When I came to consider, behold, a he-goat of the goats is coming from the west over the surface of the entire earth, and there is no touching the earth. The he-goat has a conspicuous horn between his eyes, ⁶ and he is coming unto the ram, the possessor of the two horns (which I see standing before the canal). He is running at him in the fury of his vigor" ⁷ and I see him attaining to the side of the ram. He is bitterly embittered against him and is smiting the ram and breaking his two horns. No vigor remains in the ram to stand before him when he is flinging him to the earth. He is tramping on him and no one comes to rescue the ram from his hand. ⁸ Then the he-goat of the goats magnifies himself unto excess. And as he is staunch, broken is the great horn, and instead of it are coming up four other conspicuous horns to the four winds of the heavens." ⁹ Then from the one of these four fares forth one inferior horn, and he is growing redundantly great to the southland and to the sunrise and to the stately land:" ¹⁰ He is growing great unto the host of the heavens, and cast to the earth is one from the host, and one from the stars who is also tramping on them." ¹¹ Even unto the chief of the host he magnifies himself:Because of him the continuous ritual is disturbed, flung down is all that pertains to the site of His sanctuary, ¹² and the horn is given a host for trespassing against the continuous ritual; thus is he flinging the truth to the earth. And he does this and prospers. ¹³ Now I am hearing one saint speaking. And saying is one other saint to so-and-so, the speaking one, "Till when is the vision of the continuous ritual--the cessation of the sacrifice and the desolating transgression which gives over even the holy place and the host to tramping? ¹⁴ He is answering him, "Till two thousand and three hundred evenings-mornings. Then found just is the holy place."

²⁸ When he is returning to his land with a great amount of goods, his heart is on the holy covenant, and he makes it effective before he returns to his land." ²⁹ At the time appointed he shall return and come into the southland, yet it shall not come to be as the former or as the latter." ³⁰ For there come against him boats of Chittim. Hence he is sore when he returns. He menaces the holy covenant and makes his opposition effective. While he returns, he has an understanding with those who forsake the holy covenant:" ³¹ Armed forces from him shall stand about, they shall violate the sanctuary, the stronghold, take away the continuous ritual, and give it over to the abomination of desolation." ³² And those who condemn the covenant will he pollute with slickness. Yet the people knowing their Elohim will be steadfast and act accordingly. ³³ The intelligent of the people will cause many to understand, yet they are stumbled by the sword and the blaze, by captivity and plunder for days." ³⁴ Even in their stumbling are they helped with a little help, yet obligated to them are many by slick dealings." ³⁵ Some of the intelligent shall stumble, to refine and to purify and to whiten them till the era of the end; for it is yet further to the appointed time."

¹ Then I am lifting my eyes and am seeing, and behold! a man, and in his hand a measuring line."

¹ Then I am returning and lifting my eyes and seeing, and behold! a flying roll."

⁹ Then I am lifting my eyes and am seeing, and behold! Two women faring forth; and the wind is in their wings. And they have wings as the wings of a stork. And they are lifting up the ephah between the earth and the heavens."

¹ When the foes of Judah and Benjamin heard that the sons of deportation were building a temple for Yahweh Elohim of Israel,

⁴ So it came to be that the people of the area were holding back the hands of the people of Judah, thus deterring them from building.

⁷ Then in the days of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel and the remainder of his colleagues wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia; the writing of the dispatch was written in Aramaic and interpreted.

³ At the same stated time Tattenai viceroy Beyond-the-Stream came hither to them with Shethar-Bozenai and their colleagues. This is what they were saying to them:Who promulgated a decree for you to rebuild this House and to complete this beam structure?

¹⁷ A scattered sheep is Israel, lions have driven away, At first, devour him did the king of Asshur, And now, at last, broken his bone Has Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon." ¹⁸ Therefore thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel:Lo, I am seeing after the king of Babylon, And after his land, As I have seen after the king of Asshur;"

⁷ I am hearing the man clothed in linen who is above the waters of the waterway, "Till the era of the end.Then he is holding high his right and his left hands to the heavens and is swearing by Him Who is living for the eon, that it is for an appointed time, two appointed times and half an appointed time. And as is concluded the shattering of the hand of the holy people, concluding are all these things."

¹³ You are those rejoicing for nothing, who are saying, Do we not by our own steadfastness take horns to ourselves?

¹⁴ You do pierce the head of his hordes with his rod; they are tempestuous to scatter me. Their gladness is as to devour the humble in concealment.

²¹ And I am saying, What are these coming to do? And He is speaking to me, saying:These are the horns which winnowed Judah to the extent that a man does not lift up his head. Yet these are coming to sharpen them, to throw off the horns of the nations which are lifting up a horn against the land of Judah to winnow it."

² And I am saying to him, Whither are you going? And he is saying to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length."

¹¹ Then I am answering and am saying to him, What are these two olive trees at the right of the lampstand and at its left? ¹² And I am answering a second time and am saying to him, What are the two olive limbs which by means of the two golden conduits are emptying the golden oil from above them? ¹³ And he is speaking to me, saying, Do you not know what these are? And I am saying, No, my lord." ¹⁴ And he is saying, These are the two sons of clear oil who are standing by the Lord of the entire earth."

¹⁴ For thus says Yahweh of hosts:Just as I planned to do evil to you, when your forefathers made Me wroth, says Yahweh of hosts, and I did not regret,

²⁵ Iron and copper be your door-bolts, and as your days so shall be your leisure.

¹⁶ for in their coming up out of Egypt, Israel goes in the wilderness unto the Red Sea, and comes in to Kadesh,

¹⁸ and he goes through the wilderness, and compasses the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and comes in at the rising of the sun of the land of Moab, and they encamp beyond Arnon, and have not come into the border of Moab, for Arnon [is] the border of Moab.

¹¹ `And Yahweh sends Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivers you out of the hand of your enemies round about, and you dwell confidently.

²⁷ and You give them into the hand of their adversaries, and they distress them, and in the time of their distress they cry unto You, and You, from the heavens, do hear, and, according to Your abundant mercies, do give to them saviours, and they save them out of the hand of their adversaries.

¹⁵ Behold! One shall sojourn, yea sojourn only because of Me, and who sojourns with you, to you shall fall." ¹⁶ Behold! I, I created the artificer who blows into the fire of coal, and brings forth an implement for his occupation. And I, I created the ruiner to harm." ¹⁷ Any implement formed against you shall not prosper, and any tongue which rises against you for judgment you shall condemn. This is the allotment of the servants of Yahweh, and their righteousness is from Me,averring is Yahweh."

²¹ And saviours shall come up in mount Zion, to judge mount Esau. And the kingdom shall become Yahweh's."

⁵ And this One comes to be Peace. When Assyria is entering into our land, and when he is treading in our ground, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight sovereigns of humanity." ⁶ And they graze the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its portals. And He will rescue from Assyria, when he is entering into our land, and when he is treading in our boundaries."

⁸ And the remnant of Jacob shall come to be among the nations, within many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the wildwood, and as a sheltered lion among the droves of the flock, which, if it passes, then it tramps, and it tears to pieces, and there is no rescue." ⁹ Your hand shall be high over your foes, and all your enemies shall be cut off."

¹² Return to the fortress, prisoners of expectation. Moreover, this day is telling, I will restore a second portion to you." ¹³ For I bend Judah for Myself; I fill the bow with Ephraim. And I will brandish your sons, O Zion, over your sons, O Javan, and make you as the sword of a master." ¹⁴ Then Yahweh shall appear over them, and His arrow shall fare forth as a flash. And my Lord Yahweh shall blow with a trumpet, and He goes with tempests of the south." ¹⁵ Yahweh of hosts shall protect them, and they devour, and they subdue the sling-stones; and they drink; they clamor as from wine; and they are full as a sprinkling bowl, as the garners of the altar." ¹⁶ And Yahweh, their Elohim, will save them in that day, as the flock of His people; for they shall be the stones of sequestration, themselves a banner waving over His ground."

³ Against the shepherds My anger is hot, and on the he-goats will I visit evil, for Yahweh of hosts shall note His drove, the house of Judah, and will make them as His splendid horse in the battle." ⁴ From him is the cornerstone, from Him is the peg, from Him is the battle bow, from Him shall every exactor fare forth together." ⁵ And they shall become as masters, trampling in the mud of the streets, in the battle, and they shall fight, for Yahweh is with them, and the riders of horses shall be ashamed."

² Behold I am making Jerusalem a shivering threshold to all the peoples round about. And, moreover, over Judah it shall come to be in the siege over Jerusalem." ³ And it shall come to be in that day, I will make Jerusalem a stone, a lading for all the peoples; all laden with it shall be sorely lacerated, and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered against it." ⁴ In that day, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), I will smite every horse with amazement, and his rider with madness. Yet over the house of Judah will I unclose My eyes, and every horse of the peoples will I smite with blindness." ⁵ And the mentors of Judah will say in their heart, Resoluteness is with me! The dwellers of Jerusalem are in Yahweh of hosts, their Elohim." ⁶ In that day I will make the mentors of Judah as a chafing pan of fire among sticks, and as a torch of fire in a sheaf, and they devour all the peoples round about, on the right and on the left. Jerusalem shall still dwell under herself, in Jerusalem."

⁴ I say to those boasting, Do not boast; And to the wicked, Do not exalt the horn." ⁵ You must not exalt your horn to the heights, Or speak with an impertinent neck."

¹⁰ And I shall hew down all the horns of the wicked; The horns of the righteous shall be exalted. {Permanent{ {With Accompaniments{
