¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.

¹⁴ As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. ¹⁵ But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into him, who is the head, into Christ,

⁹ And this is my prayer, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,

¹⁵ Let those of us who are mature have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you.

¹² For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of God's word. You need milk, not solid food; ¹³ for every one who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.

¹ Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, ² with instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. ³ And this we will do, if God permits.

² Like newborn babes, long for the pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
