³ for you are still carnal. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not carnal, and are you not walking like mere men?

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, come evil thoughts, fornications, theft, murder, adultery, ²² coveting, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.

¹³ Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in quarreling and jealousy.

¹¹ For I have been informed by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you, my brethren.

¹ When any one of you has a grievance against a brother, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of before the saints? ² Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you not competent to try trivial cases? ³ Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life! ⁴ So if you have disputes about such matters, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church? ⁵ I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no man among you wise enough to decide between his brethren, ⁶ but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? ⁷ Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? ⁸ Instead, you yourselves defraud and do wrong, and you even do this to your brethren.

¹⁸ For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

²⁰ For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you what I wish you to be, and you may not find me what you wish me to be; I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.

¹⁹ Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, lewdness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, ²¹ envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

³ For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by men and hating one another.

¹⁶ For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice.

¹ What causes quarrels and fights among you? Is it not your passions that are at war in your members? ² You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

² so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God.
