¹⁷ If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your exile on earth.

⁹ Pray, then, in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

⁷ "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. ⁸ For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. ⁹ Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰ Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? ¹¹ If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

¹⁶ And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and teach the way of God in truth, and you care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men.

³⁴ And opening his mouth, Peter said: "I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, ³⁵ but in every nation the man who fears him and does what is right is welcome to him.

¹⁰ but glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. ¹¹ For God shows no partiality.

²⁰ That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only by faith. So do not be proud, but stand in awe.

² grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁶ Therefore we are always of good courage; and we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord,

¹ Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

¹¹ For behold what this very thing, godly sorrow, has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what readiness to see justice done! At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

⁶ And from those who were reputed to be something (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)those, I say, who were of repute added nothing to me;

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him.

¹⁴ For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

⁹ Masters, do the same to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.

¹² Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

²⁵ For he who does wrong will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

¹ Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest remains, let us fear lest any one of you be judged to have come short of it.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from a distance, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. ¹⁴ For people who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own. ¹⁵ And if they had been thinking of that country from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. ¹⁶ But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

²⁸ Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and offer to God acceptable worship with reverence and awe,

¹¹ Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against your soul.

¹⁵ but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and respect;
