¹ Let all who are under the yoke of slavery regard their masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be spoken against. ² Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brethren, but they must serve them all the better, because those who benefit by their service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these duties. ³ If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching which accords with godliness, ⁴ he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, which produce envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions, ⁵ and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a means of gain. ⁶ But godliness with contentment is itself great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of it. ⁸ But if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content. ⁹ But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. ¹¹ But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. ¹² Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. ¹³ I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession before Pontius Pilate, ¹⁴ to keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, ¹⁵ which he will bring about at the proper timehe who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, ¹⁶ who alone has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen. ¹⁷ Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with everything to enjoy. ¹⁸ Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous and ready to share, ¹⁹ storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that life which is life indeed. ²⁰ O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, ²¹ which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you.

⁹ Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.

³⁰ For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

¹ Then he said to his disciples, "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to him through whom they do come!

⁷ When the angel who spoke to him had left, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier of those who were his personal attendants,

²² They said, "Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house, and to hear what you have to say."

¹⁰ Now therefore why do you test God by putting upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?

²⁴ For, as it is written, "The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you."

²¹ Were you a slave when you were called? Do not let it trouble youbut if you can gain your freedom, do so. ²² For he who was called in the Lord as a slave is the Lord's freedman; likewise he who was free when called is Christ's slave.

³² Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God,

¹ It was for freedom that Christ has set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

⁵ Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; ⁶ not in the way of eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. ⁷ Render service with good will, as to the Lord, and not to men, ⁸ knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

²² Slaves, in everything obey those who are your masters according to the flesh, not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. ²³ Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, ²⁴ knowing that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. ²⁵ For he who does wrong will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

¹⁴ So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their homes, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach.

⁵ to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

⁸ and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us. ⁹ Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not to talk back to them, ¹⁰ and not to steal, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in everything they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

¹² Maintain good conduct among the Gentiles, so that in case they speak against you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

¹⁷ Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king. ¹⁸ Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are overbearing. ¹⁹ For a man is approved if, mindful of God, he bears up under pain while suffering unjustly. ²⁰ For what credit is it, if when you do wrong and are beaten for it you patiently endure? But if when you do right and suffer for it you patiently endure, you have favor with God.

¹⁶ and keep a clear conscience, so that, when you are abused, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

²⁴ No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

⁸ But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master, and you are all brethren.

⁴⁰ And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'

²⁹ For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

¹⁷ And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the rest to share the root of the olive tree,

²⁶ For you are all sons of God, through faith in Christ Jesus. ²⁷ For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. ²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but faith working through love.

¹ Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus and faithful in Christ Jesus:

¹⁵ For this reason, ever since I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

⁶ that is, how the Gentiles are fellow heirs and members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

² to the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are at Colossae: grace to you and peace from God our Father.

⁴ because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love which you have for all the saints,

¹¹ Here there is no Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free, but Christ is all, and in all. ¹² So, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;

¹ Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

³ We ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.

¹¹ Command and teach these things.

¹ Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,

¹ But as for you, teach what befits sound doctrine.

¹⁵ Speak these things; exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

⁸ This is a trustworthy saying; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to devote themselves to good deeds. These things are excellent and profitable for men.

⁵ because I hear of your love and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and all the saints, ⁶ and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing that is ours in Christ. ⁷ For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.

¹⁰ 10 I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I have become in my imprisonment. ¹¹ Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is useful both to you and to me. ¹² I am sending him back to you, sending my very heart. ¹³ I would have been glad to keep him with me, so that he might serve me on your behalf during my imprisonment for the gospel; ¹⁴ but without your consent I did not want to do anything, so that your goodness would not be, in effect, by compulsion but of your own free will. ¹⁵ Perhaps this is the reason he was separated from you for a while, that you might have him back for ever, ¹⁶ no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, as a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

¹ Therefore, holy brethren, who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.

¹⁴ For we have come to share in Christ if we hold our first confidence firm to the end,

¹ So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ and a partaker in the glory that is to be revealed,

¹⁰ and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desire and despise authority. Bold and willful, they are not afraid to revile the glorious ones,

⁸ Yet in the same way these men in their dreamings defile the flesh, reject authority, and revile the glorious ones.

²¹ They said, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."

²⁰ teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

¹⁷ I urge you, brethren, to take note of those who cause divisions and difficulties, contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; avoid them.

⁶ I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you by the grace of Christ and turning to a different gospel ⁷ which is really not another gospel; but there are some who are disturbing you, and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.

¹ Finally, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, just as you are doing, you do so more and more. ² For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

⁸ Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

³ As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines,

⁶ For some men have wandered away from these things and turned aside to fruitless discussion,

¹⁰ and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,

⁷ Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself in godliness. ⁸ For bodily training is of some value, but godliness is of value in all things, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

¹³ Follow the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires,

¹ Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of God's elect and the knowledge of the truth which leads to godliness,

⁹ he must hold firm to the sure word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to refute those who contradict it.

¹ But as for you, teach what befits sound doctrine. ² The older men are to be temperate, serious, sensible, sound in faith, in love, and in endurance.

¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this present age, ¹³ looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, ¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

³ His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and excellence. ⁴ By these he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and become partakers of the divine nature. ⁵ For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge, ⁶ and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perseverance, and to perseverance, godliness, ⁷ and to godliness, brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness, love.

⁹ Now there was a man named Simon, who had formerly practiced magic in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,

²¹ You have no part or share in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. ²² Repent therefore of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you. ²³ For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity."

² And when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders about this question.

¹⁵ but since it is a matter of questions about words and names and your own law, see to it yourselves; I refuse to be a judge of these things."

⁸ but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey wickedness, there will be wrath and fury.

¹⁶ Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.

¹³ Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in quarreling and jealousy.

¹ As for the man who is weak in faith, accept him, but not for disputes over opinions.

³ for you are still carnal. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not carnal, and are you not walking like mere men?

¹⁸ Let no one deceive himself. If any one among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become a fool so that he may become wise.

¹ Now concerning food sacrificed to idols: we know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. ² If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know.

¹⁶ If anyone wants to be contentious, we have no other practice, nor do the churches of God.

¹⁸ For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

²⁰ For you put up with anyone if he makes slaves of you, or preys upon you, or takes advantage of you, or exalts himself, or strikes you in the face.

¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.

²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, ²¹ envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁶ Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

³ For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

¹⁵ Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will.

³ Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

¹⁴ Do all things without grumbling or arguing,

¹⁸ Let no one disqualify you for the prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, puffed up without cause by his fleshly mind,

⁴ who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

⁴ nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than the divine trainingwhich is by faith.

⁷ wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

⁶ He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall into the same condemnation as the devil.

¹⁴ Remind them of these things, and charge them in the presence of God to avoid disputing about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers.

²³ Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know that they produce quarrels.

⁴ treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

⁹ But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and quarrels about the Law, for they are unprofitable and useless.

¹⁹ This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger,

¹⁴ What good is it, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has no works? Can such faith save him? ¹⁵ If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? ¹⁷ So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. ¹⁸ But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

¹ What causes quarrels and fights among you? Is it not your passions that are at war in your members? ² You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

⁵ Or do you think that the Scripture says without reason: "He jealously desires the Spirit which he has made to dwell in us"? ⁶ But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

¹ Therefore, put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. ² Like newborn babes, long for the pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

¹² But these, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and killed, reviling in matters of which they are ignorant, will be destroyed in the same destruction with them,

¹⁸ For speaking out arrogant words of vanity, they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error.

¹⁰ But these men revile whatever they do not understand; and the things that they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals do, by these things they are destroyed.

¹⁶ These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for their own advantage.

¹⁷ You say, "I am rich; I have become wealthy, and have need of nothing"and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked,

¹⁷ Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. ²⁰ Thus you will know them by their fruits.

³³ "Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

¹³ And he said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of robbers.'"

¹³ "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither enter yourselves, nor do you allow those who would enter to go in.

¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. ²¹ But he who does the truth comes to the light, that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been done in God."

¹⁸ Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, ¹⁹ saying, "Give me also this power, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit." ²⁰ But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!

²⁴ For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen. ²⁵ These he gathered together, with the workmen of similar trades, and said, "Men, you know that from this business we have our wealth. ²⁶ And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in almost all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable number of people, saying that gods made with hands are no gods at all. ²⁷ Not only is there danger that this trade of ours fall into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis be regarded as worthless and that she whom all of Asia and the world worship will even be dethroned from her magnificence." ²⁸ When they heard this, they were enraged and began crying out, "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!"

¹⁷ I urge you, brethren, to take note of those who cause divisions and difficulties, contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; avoid them. ¹⁸ For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth and flattering words they deceive the hearts of the simple.

¹⁷ Now this I affirm and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds, ¹⁸ they are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to the hardness of their heart; ¹⁹ and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality, greedy for the practice of every kind of impurity.

⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. ⁹ The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, ¹⁰ and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ For this reason God sends upon them a strong delusion so that they will believe what is false,

⁶ Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who is living in idleness and not according to the tradition which you received from us.

³ not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

⁸ Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, and not fond of sordid gain;

⁶ But godliness with contentment is itself great gain.

⁵ holding a form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid such people.

⁸ Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.

¹¹ They must be silenced, because they are upsetting whole families by teaching things they ought not to teach for the sake of sordid gain.

¹⁵ To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are corrupted and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their minds and consciences are corrupted. ¹⁶ They profess to know God, but they deny him by their deeds; they are detestable and disobedient, unfit for any good deed.

¹² Take care, brethren, lest there be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. ¹³ But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

³ And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from long ago their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.

¹⁵ Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

⁸ Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may receive a full reward. ⁹ Anyone who runs ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting; ¹¹ Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for the sake of gain they have rushed headlong into the Balaam's error, and perished in Korah's rebellion.

³ For all nations have drunk the wine of her impure passion, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich with the wealth of her wantonness."

¹³ cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and chariots; and slaves and human souls.

³² For the Gentiles seek after all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. ³³ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well.

¹⁴ Likewise the soldiers asked him, "And what shall we do?" So he said to them, "Rob no one by violence or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages."

³¹ But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. ³² Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

³ And not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; ⁴ and perseverance, character; and character, hope. ⁵ And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

²⁸ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

¹⁷ For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,

²¹ For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

¹¹ Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. ¹² I know how to be in need, and I also know how to have plenty; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and want. ¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

⁸ For bodily training is of some value, but godliness is of value in all things, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

⁸ But if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content.

⁵ Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said, "I will never leave you, nor will I forsake you."

²⁰ But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have prepared?' ²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

²² So the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. ²³ And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus in his bosom.

²⁵ "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ²⁶ Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? ²⁷ Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his span of life? ²⁸ And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, ²⁹ yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ³⁰ Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ³¹ Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'

⁵ Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said, "I will never leave you, nor will I forsake you." ⁶ So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

²² Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

²² But when the young man heard this, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

¹⁵ and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?" And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.

³ When Judas, his betrayer, saw that he was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, ⁴ saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" ⁵ Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.

¹⁹ but the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

³⁵ For it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.

⁴ While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? How is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." ⁵ When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and died. And great fear came upon all who heard of it.

²⁰ But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!

²² You were taught, with regard to your former manner of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful lusts;

⁹ realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers

⁷ He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

²⁶ and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

¹ Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. ² Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out against you; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

¹⁵ Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; ¹⁶ but he was rebuked for his own transgression by a donkeya beast without speechwho spoke with a man's voice and restrained the prophet's madness.

¹⁵ Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the worldthe lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of lifeis not of the Father but is of the world. ¹⁷ And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

¹⁶ "Brethren, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David, concerning Judas who was guide to those who arrested Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was counted among us and received his share in this ministry." ¹⁸ (Now this man bought a field with the reward of his wickedness; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out. ¹⁹ And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was called in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)

⁹ But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

²¹ which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you.

¹⁰ for Demas, having loved this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.

¹⁹ My brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back,

⁷ and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men ⁸ (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds),

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat food sacrificed to idols and to practice sexual immorality. ¹⁵ So you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

¹⁹ Let us therefore pursue what makes for peace and for mutual edification.

¹⁸ Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.

¹⁴ Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

¹ Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. ⁹ Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

¹² Let no one look down on your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

¹⁰ and she must be well known for her good deeds, as one who has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, relieved those in distress, and devoted herself to doing good in every way.

²⁰ O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,

²² Now flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

¹⁷ so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this present age,

¹⁴ Strive for peace with all men, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

¹¹ He must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.

⁸ "I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God. ⁹ But he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

²⁸ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. ²⁹ For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ And those whom he predestined, he also called; those whom he called, he also justified; and those whom he justified, he also glorified.

²³ in order to make known the riches of his glory for the vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory, ²⁴ even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?

⁹ because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰ For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his mouth and so is saved.

²⁵ Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. ²⁶ Therefore I do not run aimlessly. I do not box as a man beating the air.

⁷ in truthful speech, and in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left;

¹³ Because of the test of this service, you will glorify God by your obedience in your confession of the gospel of Christ, and by the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others;

³ For though we live in the flesh, we do not wage war as the flesh does. ⁴ For the weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds. ⁵ We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ,

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. ¹¹ Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. ¹² For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ in addition to all this, taking up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. ¹⁸ Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and petition. And with this in view, keep alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

¹² Not that I have already obtained this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. ¹³ Brethren, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, ¹⁴ I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.

¹² to live a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

⁸ But, since we belong to the day, let us be sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. ⁹ For God has not destined us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁴ He called you to this through our gospel, that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ I give you this command, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies once made about you, that by them you may fight the good fight,

¹³ I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession before Pontius Pilate,

¹⁹ storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that life which is life indeed.

⁹ who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and the grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

¹⁸ so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.

²³ You should know that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom I will see you if he comes soon.

⁹ Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but give a blessing instead; for to this you were called, that you may inherit a blessing.

¹⁰ And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you.

²⁵ And this is what he has promised useternal life.

³ Remember therefore what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.

¹¹ Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" So Jesus said to him, "It is as you say."

²¹ For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom he will.

²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself,

⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

²⁵ "These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you. ²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

³⁶ Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now my kingship is not from here." ³⁷ Pilate said to him, "You are a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say what I ama king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice."

¹¹ Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered me to you has the greater sin."

²⁵ nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all men life and breath and everything.

⁵ For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

²¹ I charge you, in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, doing nothing out of favoritism.

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

¹⁴ "And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation:

⁶ Then he said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life without cost.

¹ Then he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb,

⁸ who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁷ that he might present the church to himself in all her glory, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and blameless.

⁶ For I am confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ so that you may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ;

¹⁵ so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

²² yet he has now reconciled you in his fleshly body through death, in order to present you before him holy and blameless and beyond reproach

¹⁷ Say to Archippus, "See to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it."

¹³ so that he may establish your hearts without blame in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

²³ Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, we beg you, brethren,

⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.

¹¹ Command and teach these things. ¹² Let no one look down on your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. ¹³ Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. ¹⁴ Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you through prophetic utterance when the council of elders laid their hands on you. ¹⁵ Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that all may see your progress. ¹⁶ Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

¹ I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:

¹³ looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

²⁸ so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for him.

⁷ so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by him in peace, spotless and blameless.

² Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

²⁴ Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you without blemish before the presence of his glory with great joy,

⁷ Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all tribes of the earth will mourn because of him. Even so. Amen.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'

¹¹ according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.

¹⁷ Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

⁶ who gave himself as a ransom for allthe testimony given at the proper time.

¹⁴ These will make war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with him are the called and chosen and faithful."

¹⁶ And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

¹⁸ No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.

⁴⁶ Not that any one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father.

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."

⁹ Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you do not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

²⁵ Now to him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret for long ages ²⁶ but is now revealed and made known to all nations through the prophetic writings, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith ²⁷ to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

²¹ to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.

²⁰ To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

¹⁵ He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

⁸ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

⁵ This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all.

²⁵ to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

⁶ and has made us a kingdom and priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

⁸ "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

¹⁶ he held in his right hand seven stars, out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in its strength. ¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, ¹⁸ and the Living One; I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore! And I have the keys of death and Hades.

¹¹ "You are worthy, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."

¹² saying, "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God for ever and ever! Amen."

³ And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. And he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them;

⁵ And there will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light; and they will reign for ever and ever.

³² For the Gentiles seek after all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

²³ Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

⁵⁷ And when it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself also become a disciple of Jesus.

²⁴ And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!

¹⁵ And he said to them, "Take heed, and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." ¹⁶ And he told them a parable, saying: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. ¹⁷ And he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?' ¹⁸ And he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry."'

² Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.

⁹ And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham. ¹⁰ For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."

¹⁷ yet he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness."

²⁷ When they arrived, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

²⁰ That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only by faith. So do not be proud, but stand in awe.

⁵ For of this you can be sure, that no immoral, impure, or covetous personsuch a man is an idolaterhas any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

⁹ For they themselves report about us what kind of a reception we had with you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God,

¹⁵ if I am delayed, you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.

¹⁰ For to this end we labor and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

¹² training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this present age,

⁶ whom he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

⁹ But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; ¹⁰ and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like the flower of the grass he will pass away.

⁶ Pay her back even as she has paid, and give back to her double according to her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix a double portion for her. ⁷ As she glorified herself and played the wanton, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, 'A queen I sit, and I am not a widow, mourning I will never see.'

³³ And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. ³⁴ And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much back. ³⁵ But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For he is kind to the ungrateful and evil.

²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

¹² Then he also said to the one who invited him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers, your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. ¹³ But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, ¹⁴ and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just."

⁴⁴ And all who believed were together and had all things in common; ⁴⁵ and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as anyone had need.

³⁴ For there was not a needy person among them, For all who were owners of land or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of the sales ³⁵ and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. ³⁶ Thus Josnt who was called by the apostles Barnabas (which means, Son of Encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, ³⁷ sold a field which he owned, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.

³⁶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha (which is translated Dorcas). She was full of good works and acts of charity.

³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

²⁹ And the disciples determined, each according to his ability, to send relief for the brethren living in Judea.

⁸ he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

¹³ Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality.

² On the first day of every week, each one of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.

¹ Now, brethren, we want you to know about the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, ² for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in the wealth of their liberality.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that through his poverty you might become rich.

¹² For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a man has, not according to what he does not have.

⁶ The point is this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. ⁷ Each one must give just as he has purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, so that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may have an abundance for every good work. ⁹ As it is written, "He has scattered abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." ¹⁰ Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will multiply the harvest of your righteousness. ¹¹ You will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. ¹² For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God. ¹³ Because of the test of this service, you will glorify God by your obedience in your confession of the gospel of Christ, and by the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others; ¹⁴ while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God in you. ¹⁵ Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

¹⁰ So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

¹⁸ I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

¹⁶ Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brethren: has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those who love him?

¹⁷ But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?

¹¹ Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.

¹⁹ "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

⁴¹ He who receives a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. ⁴² And whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."

²¹ Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

³⁴ Then the King will say to those on his right hand, 'Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you took me in, ³⁶ I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' ³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? ³⁸ When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you? ³⁹ When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' ⁴⁰ And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'

⁴⁸ he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it was well built. ⁴⁹ But he who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."

³³ Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide yourselves purses that do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

⁹ And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when it fails, they may receive you into the eternal dwellings.

²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things; but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

² He said: "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor regarded man.

²² When Jesus heard it, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

⁸ For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption; but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. ⁹ Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

¹⁷ so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

¹⁴ I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

¹⁹ Nevertheless, God's firm foundation stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."

⁴ to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, kept in heaven for you,

¹⁸ And also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him. Some said, "What would this idle babbler wish to say?" Others, "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign deities,"because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.

²¹ (Now all the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there spent their time in nothing other than telling or hearing something new.)

²² Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

² Much in every way! To begin with, they are entrusted with the oracles of God.

¹⁹ For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the cleverness of the clever I will frustrate." ²⁰ Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? ²¹ For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. ²² Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, ²³ but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,

⁶ Yet we do speak a wisdom among the mature, a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness";

⁸ See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to human tradition, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

⁴ Therefore we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you are enduring.

¹⁵ So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.

⁷ Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself in godliness.

⁴ he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, which produce envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions, ⁵ and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a means of gain.

¹¹ But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

¹⁴ to keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹² For this reason I also suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day. ¹³ Follow the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. ¹⁴ Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure that has been entrusted to you.

¹ You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

¹⁶ Avoid godless chatter, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness,

¹⁴ But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, knowing from whom you learned it, ¹⁵ and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness;

⁴ to Titus, my true child in a common faith: grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

¹⁴ and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of men who reject the truth.

⁷ To all in Rome who are beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁰ And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

²³ Gaius, who is my host and the host of the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the treasurer of the city, greets you, and Quartus, our brother.

¹⁸ I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.

¹⁹ holding faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and made shipwreck of their faith.

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

¹⁸ who have gone astray from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and upset the faith of some.

²² The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.

¹⁵ All who are with me send you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.

¹ For since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near. ² Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered? If the worshipers had once been cleansed, they would no longer have any consciousness of sins. ³ But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year after year. ⁴ For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. ⁵ Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; ⁶ in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. ⁷ Then I said, 'Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,' as it is written of me in the roll of the book." ⁸ When he said above, "You did not desire, nor did you take pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings" (these are offered according to the law), ⁹ then he said, "Behold, I have come to do your will." He takes away the first in order to establish the second. ¹⁰ And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest stands daily at his service, offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. ¹² But when he had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,

²⁵ Grace be with you all.
