³ For I greatly rejoiced when some of the brethren arrived and testified to the truth of your life, and how you are walking in truth.

⁸ First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world. ⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in my prayers,

⁶ But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, ⁷ and not only by his coming but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you, as he told us of your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced still more.

¹⁵ For this reason, ever since I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, ¹⁶ I do not cease giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,

⁴ always making my prayer with joy in every prayer of mine for you all,

⁷ as you learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, ⁸ and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

¹⁹ For who is our hope or joy or crown of exultation? Is it not even you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at his coming? ²⁰ For you are our glory and joy.

⁶ But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and has brought us the good news of your faith and love and reported that you always remember us kindly and long to see us, just as we long to see you ⁷ for this reason, brethren, in all our distress and affliction we were comforted about you through your faith; ⁸ for now we really live, if you stand firm in the Lord. ⁹ For what thanksgiving can we render to God for you in return for all the joy which we feel for your sake before our God,

² because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:

⁴ I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we have been commanded by the Father.

⁴ I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
