¹⁹ For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped and the whole world may be held accountable to God. ²⁰ Therefore no flesh will be justified in his sight by works of the law, for through the law comes knowledge of sin.

¹⁵ because the law brings wrath, for where there is no law there is no transgression.

²⁰ Law came in, that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,

² Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live any longer in it?

⁴ Likewise, my brethren, you have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit to God.

⁶ But now, by dying to what once held us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. ⁷ What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed, I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet." ⁸ But sin, finding opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetous desire. For apart from the law sin lies dead. ⁹ I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. ¹⁰ The very commandment which was to bring life I found to be death to me. ¹¹ For sin, finding opportunity in the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.

¹⁴ We know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin.

²² For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, ²³ but I see in my members another law, at war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin which dwells in my members.

² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.

⁴ For Christ is the end of the law, that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. ⁵ For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall live by them."

⁷ For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. ⁸ If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.

³¹ So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

¹⁵ And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

¹⁰ For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to do them."

²⁴ So the law was our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

²⁰ If with Christ you died to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you still belonged to it, do you submit to regulations such as,

³ For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

¹⁰ who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with him.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

¹ Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, ² so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God.

⁶ For this reason the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they might live in the spirit according to the will of God.
