¹ Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. ² Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out against you; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. ⁵ You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned and put to death the righteous man; he does not resist you. ⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rains. ⁸ You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. ⁹ Do not grumble, brethren, against one another, that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. ¹⁰ As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. ¹¹ Behold, we call those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy. ¹² But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath, but let your yes be yes and your no be no, that you may not fall under condemnation. ¹³ Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. ¹⁴ Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; ¹⁵ and the prayer offered in faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. ¹⁶ Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. ¹⁷ Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. ¹⁸ Then he prayed again, and the heavens gave rain and the earth produced its fruit. ¹⁹ My brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, ²⁰ let him know that whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

²³ Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

²⁴ But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. ²⁵ Woe to you who are full now, for you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.

¹⁶ And he told them a parable, saying: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. ¹⁷ And he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?' ¹⁸ And he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry."' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have prepared?' ²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

¹⁹ "There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and feasted sumptuously every day. ²⁰ And a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores, ²¹ longing to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. ²² So the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. ²³ And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in agony in this flame.' ²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things; but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

²⁸ For behold, the days are coming when they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed!' ²⁹ Then they will begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us!' and to the hills, 'Cover us!'

⁹ But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

¹¹ For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls and its beauty is destroyed. So will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

⁶ But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Is it not they who drag you into court?

⁹ Be miserable and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.

¹³ Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit."

¹⁵ Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the generals and the rich and the strong, and every one, slave and free, hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, ¹⁶ and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; ¹⁷ for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?"

¹⁹ "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

³³ Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide yourselves purses that do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

² For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in shabby clothes,

⁴ to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, kept in heaven for you,

¹⁷ 'And in the last days it shall be, God says, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;

⁵ But by your hardness and your impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.

¹⁷ and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rains. ⁸ You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.

³ First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days, with scoffing, following their own lusts

¹⁶ And the ten horns you saw, they and the beast will hate the harlot; they will make her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and burn her up with fire,

¹⁵ And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

⁸ But as for the cowardly, the unbelieving, the immoral, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their lot will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

⁷ And will not God bring about justice for his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them?

²⁹ And as Isaiah said: "Unless the Lord of hosts had left us children, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have been made like Gomorrah."

¹ Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

¹⁹ "There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and feasted sumptuously every day.

²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things; but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

¹³ Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in quarreling and jealousy.

⁶ But she who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.

⁴ treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

¹³ suffering wrong for their wrongdoing. They count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions, as they carouse with you.

¹² These are the men who are blemishes in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, uprooted;

⁷ As she glorified herself and played the wanton, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, 'A queen I sit, and I am not a widow, mourning I will never see.'

¹⁷ Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he cried to all the birds that fly in midheaven, "Come, gather for the great supper of God, ¹⁸ so that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great."

³⁹ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. But if someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

³⁸ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.'

³⁴ Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, ³⁵ that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

⁵³ Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? ⁵⁴ But how then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen in this way?"

²⁰ But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this man's blood. See to it yourselves." ²⁵ And all the people answered, "His blood be on us and on our children!"

⁵¹ But Jesus answered, "No more of this!" And he touched his ear and healed him. ⁵² Then Jesus said to the chief priests, officers of the temple, and the elders who had come to him, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs? ⁵³ When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."

² They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. ³ And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.

⁹ and he went again into the Praetorium and said to Jesus, "Where are you from?" But Jesus gave him no answer. ¹⁰ Pilate said to him, "You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to crucify you?" ¹¹ Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered me to you has the greater sin."

²² "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know ²³ this man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put him to death.

¹⁴ But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, ¹⁵ but killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

¹⁰ be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him this man stands before you healed. ¹¹ He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which has become the chief cornerstone. ¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

⁵² Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whom you have now betrayed and murdered,

³² Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this: "He was led as a sheep to slaughter; and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he does not open his mouth.

²⁷ For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him. ²⁸ Though they found no ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed.

¹⁴ Then he said, 'The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth.

¹⁵ who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men, ¹⁶ hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them at last.

³⁸ But my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him."

² You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

²² "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth;" ²³ when he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he uttered no threats, but he trusted himself to him who judges justly.

²⁷ For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

⁴⁴ Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

¹⁵ But the ones that fell on the good soil are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

⁸ I tell you that he will bring about justice for them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

²⁷ Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

⁷ to those who by patience in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality, he will give eternal life;

²⁴ For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? ²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

⁴ For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.

⁷ so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you eagerly wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ;

⁴ But as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, distresses, ⁵ in beatings, imprisonments, tumults, labors, sleeplessness, hunger,

⁵ For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait for the hope of righteousness.

⁹ Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

¹¹ May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy,

³ remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ For who is our hope or joy or crown of exultation? Is it not even you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at his coming?

¹³ so that he may establish your hearts without blame in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

¹⁵ And so Abraham, having patiently endured, obtained the promise.

¹ Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, ² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary and lose heart.

⁸ You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. ⁹ Do not grumble, brethren, against one another, that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.

⁴ and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."

²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

¹¹ And do this, knowing the hour, that now it is full time for you to wake from sleep. For now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. ¹² The night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

⁵ Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.

¹⁰ and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come.

⁵ May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.

²⁵ not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the Day drawing near. ²⁶ For if we sin deliberately after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries. ²⁸ Anyone who has rejected the law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. ²⁹ How much severer punishment do you think a man will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as an unclean thing the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people." ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. ³² But remember the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings, ³³ sometimes being publicly exposed to insult and persecution; and at other times standing side by side with those who were so treated. ³⁴ For you had compassion on the prisoners, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. ³⁵ Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. ³⁶ For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. ³⁷ "For yet in a very little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.

⁹ Do not grumble, brethren, against one another, that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.

⁷ The end of all things is near; therefore be clear minded and sober for your prayers.

²⁰ He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

¹⁴ For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ¹⁵ But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

¹ "Judge not, that you be not judged. ² For with the same judgment you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

³³ So also, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

¹⁹ And Herodias had a grudge against him, and wanted to kill him. But she could not,

²⁹ So also, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door.

⁵ Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts. Then every man will receive his praise from God.

¹¹ Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written down for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

⁷ Each one must give just as he has purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

¹⁴ For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

²⁶ Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

¹¹ Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.

⁵ but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

⁹ Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

¹¹ Blessed are you when they revile you and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake. ¹² Rejoice and be glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

³⁴ When the harvest time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to get his fruit. ³⁵ And the tenants took his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another. ³⁶ Again he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did the same to them. ³⁷ Last of all, he sent his son to them saying, 'They will respect my son,' ³⁸ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.' ³⁹ So they took him and cast him out of the vineyard and killed him.

³⁴ Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, ³⁵ that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly, I say to you, all this will come upon this generation. ³⁷ "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

²³ Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.

³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!

²¹ whom heaven must receive until the time for establishing all that God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago.

¹⁴ For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus which are in Judea, for you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews, ¹⁵ who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men,

³² And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, ³³ who through faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of justice, received promises, shut the mouths of lions, ³⁴ quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, whose weakness was turned to strength, who became mighty in war, and put foreign armies to flight. ³⁵ Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. ³⁶ And others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment. ³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated ³⁸ of whom the world was not worthy wandering in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.

⁷ Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God; consider the outcome of their life, and imitate their faith.

¹⁰ Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are you when they revile you and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake.

²² And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.

⁵⁰ And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation.

³⁶ Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

⁴ Or do you presume upon the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not know that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

⁶ to the praise of his glorious grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,

⁶ but Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold fast to our confidence and the hope of which we boast.

¹⁴ For we have come to share in Christ if we hold our first confidence firm to the end,

³⁹ But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and keep their souls.

¹² Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, for when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

⁶ In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials, ⁷ so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober in spirit, set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

⁹ then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

³³ "Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.' ³⁴ But I say to you, do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; ³⁵ or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. ³⁶ And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. ³⁷ Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil.

¹⁶ "Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'If any one swears by the temple, it is nothing; but if any one swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.' ¹⁷ You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that has made the gold sacred? ¹⁸ And you say, 'If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift that is on it, he is bound by his oath.' ¹⁹ You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? ²⁰ Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. ²¹ And he who swears by the temple, swears by it and by him who dwells in it. ²² And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by him who sits on it.

³⁴ If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you will not come together for judgment. About the other things I will give directions when I come.

¹⁷ When I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or do I make my plans in a fleshly manner so that in the same breath I say, "Yes, Yes" and "No, No"? ¹⁸ But as surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been Yes and No. ¹⁹ For the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by usby me and Silvanus and Timothywas not Yes and No, but in him it has always been Yes. ²⁰ For as many as are the promises of God, in him they are Yes. And so through him we speak our Amen to the glory of God.

¹ Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. ² For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.

⁸ Above all, hold unfailing your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

² Beloved, I pray that you may be in good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

⁴⁴ And being in agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

⁴² And Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

²⁴ Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. ²⁵ But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them,

²⁶ What is the outcome then, brethren? When you come together, each one has a hymn, or a teaching, or a revelation, or a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.

⁷ And to keep me from being too elated because of the abundance of revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to harass me, to keep me from being too elated. ⁸ Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should depart from me. ⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. ¹⁰ That is why, for Christ's sake, I am content in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁹ speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord,

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. ¹⁷ And whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

⁷ In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his godly fear.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals; for you were slain, and with your blood purchased men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. ¹⁰ You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth." ¹¹ Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, ¹² saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" ¹³ And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!" ¹⁴ And the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the elders fell down and worshipped.

¹⁰ and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."

³ And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn the song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the earth.

¹ After this I heard what sounded like the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying, "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, ² for his judgments are true and just; he has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and he has avenged on her the blood of his servants." ³ And again they shouted, "Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever." ⁴ And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped God who is seated on the throne, saying, "Amen. Hallelujah!" ⁵ And a voice came from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great." ⁶ Then I heard what sounded like the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.

¹³ And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.

¹⁸ they will pick up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."

⁴⁰ But Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed; then turning to the body, he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

²³ And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they believed.

⁴ When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all that God had done with them.

⁸ It happened that the father of Publius was lying in bed sick with recurrent fever and dysentery; and Paul went in to see him and after he had prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him.

⁵ For this reason I left you in Crete, that you might straighten out what was left unfinished, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you,

² And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven." ³ And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming!" ⁴ But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? ⁵ For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'? ⁶ But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"he then said to the paralytic"Rise, take up your bed and go home."

²⁰ So he said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you."

²¹ And Jesus answered them, "Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will be done. ²² And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith."

⁵ When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." ⁶ Now some of the scribes were sitting there, reasoning in their hearts, ⁷ "Why does this man speak like this? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" ⁸ And immediately, when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, he said to them, "Why do you reason about these things in your hearts? ⁹ Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your pallet and walk'? ¹⁰ But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"he said to the paralytic, ¹¹ "I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home."

²² And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God. ²³ Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. ²⁴ Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

¹⁷ And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; ¹⁸ they will pick up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."

¹⁴ Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you are well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse may happen to you."

³⁰ That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. ³¹ But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. ³² But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

²⁸ And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, then those having gifts of healings, helps, administrations, and those speaking in various kinds of tongues. ²⁹ Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? ³⁰ Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

⁶ But he must ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

¹³ Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.

¹⁶ Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

¹⁴ And this is the confidence which we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. ¹⁵ And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. ¹⁶ If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that.

⁶ and confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

⁷ "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. ⁸ For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. ⁹ Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰ Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? ¹¹ If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

¹⁵ "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. ¹⁶ But if he will not listen, take one or two others along with you, so that 'every matter may be established by the word of two or three witnesses.' ¹⁷ If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

²² And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith."

³ When he heard of Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. ⁴ And when they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, "He is worthy to have you do this for him,

⁶ So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

¹¹ What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent? ¹² Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? ¹³ If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

¹ Then he told them a parable, to show that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. ² He said: "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor regarded man. ³ And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.' ⁴ For a while he refused; but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God nor regard man, ⁵ yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her justice, or she will wear me out by her continual coming.'" ⁶ And the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge says. ⁷ And will not God bring about justice for his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? ⁸ I tell you that he will bring about justice for them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

³¹ We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if any one is a worshiper of God and does his will, he listens to him.

²⁴ And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God together and said, "Sovereign Lord, it is you who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them, ²⁵ who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David your servant, said, 'Why did the gentiles rage, and the peoples plot futile things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against his Christ.' ²⁷ For truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, ²⁸ to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. ²⁹ And now, Lord, look upon their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness, ³⁰ while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of your holy servant Jesus." ³¹ And when they had prayed, the place where they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.

³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

⁵ So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church. ⁶ The very night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. ⁷ And behold, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared, and a light shone in the cell; and he struck Peter's side and woke him up, saying, "Get up quickly." And the chains fell off his hands. ⁸ And the angel said to him, "Dress yourself and put on your sandals." And he did so. And he said to him, "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me." ⁹ So he went out and followed him; and he did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. ¹⁰ When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went out and passed on through one street; and immediately the angel left him. ¹¹ When Peter came to himself, he said, "Now I know for sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting."

¹⁸ Many also of those who believed now came, confessing and disclosing their practices.

¹⁰ As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;

¹⁹ For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

⁹ For this reason also, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

¹⁷ pray without ceasing,

²³ Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁵ Brethren, pray for us.

⁴ By faith Abel offered God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his gifts. And through faith he still speaks, even though he is dead.

⁷ By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in godly fear prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which comes by faith.

¹³ and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.

¹⁸ Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things.

²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

²² and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.

²⁵ But I tell you truly, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land;

²⁶ But Peter raised him up, saying, "Stand up; I too am just a man."

¹⁵ "Men, why are you doing this? We also are men, of like nature with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

² God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?

⁶ These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

¹⁷ yet he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness."

¹⁵ "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren."

¹ Brethren, even if anyone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

²¹ which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you.

¹⁸ who have gone astray from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and upset the faith of some.

¹² Therefore lift your feeble hands and strengthen your weak knees, ¹³ and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.

²⁰ let him know that whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

¹⁷ You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your own steadfastness.

¹¹ Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for the sake of gain they have rushed headlong into the Balaam's error, and perished in Korah's rebellion.

²² And have mercy on some, who doubt; ²³ save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

¹⁴ in the hope that I may somehow arouse to jealousy the kinsmen of my flesh and save some of them.

²² To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, so that I might by all means save some.

¹⁶ Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

¹⁹ I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand, I will pay it backnot to mention that you owe me even your own self.

¹⁵ Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is full-grown, it brings forth death.

¹⁹ My brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back,

⁶ Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
