²⁵ "I have said this to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.

¹⁰ The disciples came and said to him, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" ¹¹ And he answered them, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

³⁴ All these things Jesus spoke to the crowd in parables; and without a parable he did not speak to them. ³⁵ So was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet: "I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world."

¹³ And he said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?

⁶ This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.

² They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.

²⁸ I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father." ²⁹ His disciples said, "See, now you are speaking plainly, and not using a figure of speech!

³³ Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear. ³⁴ For David did not ascend into heaven, but he says himself: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, ³⁵ until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."' ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."

¹² Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. ¹³ We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from gazing at the end of the radiance that was fading away. ¹⁴ But their minds were hardened; for to this day, when they read the old covenant, the same veil remains unlifted, because only in Christ is it removed. ¹⁵ Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts. ¹⁶ But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. ¹⁷ Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. ¹⁸ And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

² But we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
