¹ Now when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John ² (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples), ³ he left Judea and departed again to Galilee. ⁴ Now he had to go through Samaria. ⁵ So he came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. ⁶ Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. ⁷ There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink." ⁸ For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. ⁹ Then the woman of Samaria said to him, "How is it that you, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. ¹⁰ Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water." ¹¹ The woman said to him, "Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? ¹² Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his cattle?" ¹³ Jesus answered her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, ¹⁴ but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. The water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." ¹⁵ The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw." ¹⁶ Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." ¹⁷ The woman answered, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying, 'I have no husband'; ¹⁸ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly." ¹⁹ The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. ²⁰ Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship." ²¹ Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. ²² You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. ²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. ²⁴ God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." ²⁵ The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When he comes, he will tell us all things." ²⁶ Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he." ²⁷ Just then his disciples came. And they marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, "What do you wish?" or, "Why are you talking with her?" ²⁸ Then the woman left her water jar, and went away into the city, and said to the people, ²⁹ "Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" ³⁰ They went out of the city and came to him. ³¹ Meanwhile his disciples urged him, saying, "Rabbi, eat." ³² But he said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know." ³³ So the disciples said to one another, "Has any one brought him food?" ³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to finish his work. ³⁵ Do you not say, 'There are yet four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and look at the fields! They are already white for harvest. ³⁶ And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. ³⁷ For here the saying is true, 'One sows and another reaps.' ³⁸ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labor." ³⁹ Many of the Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me all that I ever did." ⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them; and he stayed there two days. ⁴¹ And many more believed because of his word. ⁴² They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man is indeed the Savior of the world." ⁴³ After the two days he departed to Galilee. ⁴⁴ For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country. ⁴⁵ So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they too had gone to the feast. ⁴⁶ So he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was sick. ⁴⁷ When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. ⁴⁸ Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe." ⁴⁹ The official said to him, "Sir, come down before my child dies." ⁵⁰ Jesus said to him, "Go; your son will live." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went his way. ⁵¹ As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was living. ⁵² So he inquired of them the hour when his son got better, and they said to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him." ⁵³ So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." And he himself believed, and all his household. ⁵⁴ This was now the second sign that Jesus did when he had come from Judea to Galilee.

⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare his ways,

¹¹ For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

³¹ If any one asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' you shall say to him, 'The Lord has need of it.'"

³⁴ And they said, "The Lord has need of it."

²² After this Jesus and his disciples went into the land of Judea, and there he remained with them and baptized.

²⁶ And they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified behold, he is baptizing, and all are going to him."

³⁶ You know the word which he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all).

⁸ None of the rulers of this age understood it; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

⁴⁷ The first man was from the earth, of dust; the second man is from heaven.

⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

¹ My brethren, show no favoritism as you hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

⁴⁸ And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.

¹³ Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? ¹⁴ I am thankful that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, ¹⁵ so that no one would say you were baptized in my name. ¹⁶ (Now I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any one else.) ¹⁷ For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospelnot with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

²³ When they persecute you in one city, flee to another. For truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

⁷ Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed; also from Judea

⁴³ The next day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee. And he found Philip and said to him, "Follow me."

¹¹ This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

³² He testifies to what he has seen and heard; yet no one receives his testimony.

⁴⁰ He went away again across the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there he stayed.

⁵⁴ Jesus therefore no longer went about openly among the Jews, but went from there to the country near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim; and there he stayed with his disciples.

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them: "Do not go among the Gentiles, or enter any town of the Samaritans. ⁶ But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

⁴⁹ And he said to them, "Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"

⁵¹ When the time drew near for him to be received up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. ⁵² And he sent messengers on ahead, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him;

¹¹ On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee.

¹² Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his cattle?"

² And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was hungry.

²⁴ And behold, a great storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But he was asleep.

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.

⁷ And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

⁵⁸ And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head."

⁹ Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that through his poverty you might become rich.

¹⁷ Therefore he had to be made like his brethren in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

⁴² And whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."

¹⁰ Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."

²⁸ After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst."

¹³ But he said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fishunless we go and buy food for all these people."

³⁹ Many of the Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me all that I ever did."

⁵ Then Jesus lifted up his eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these people may eat?" ⁶ But this he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. ⁷ Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each one of them to have a little."

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them: "Do not go among the Gentiles, or enter any town of the Samaritans.

⁵² And he sent messengers on ahead, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him; ⁵³ but the people did not receive him, because his face was set for Jerusalem. ⁵⁴ And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?" ⁵⁵ But he turned and rebuked them, ⁵⁶ and they went on to another village.

³³ But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion.

¹⁶ and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷ Then said Jesus, "Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? ¹⁸ Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" ¹⁹ And he said to him, "Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well."

²⁷ Just then his disciples came. And they marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, "What do you wish?" or, "Why are you talking with her?"

⁴⁸ The Jews answered him, "Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?"

⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth."

²⁸ And he said to them, "You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; but God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

⁸ I tell you, though he will not get up and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as much as he needs. ⁹ So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

¹³ If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

¹³ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

⁴² And Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." ⁴³ It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

¹⁴ but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. The water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

²⁵ The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When he comes, he will tell us all things." ²⁶ Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he."

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall never hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst.

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh."

³⁷ On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. ³⁸ He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." ³⁹ Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

³⁵ Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and when he found him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?" ³⁶ He answered, "Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?" ³⁷ Jesus said to him, "You have seen him, and it is he who speaks with you." ³⁸ Then he said, "Lord, I believe!" And he worshiped him.

³ And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.

³ And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

¹¹ And the Lord said to him, "Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying,

³² He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also give us all things with him?

³⁰ It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,

⁴ and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they drank from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.

¹⁵ Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

⁸ For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

¹⁷ You say, "I am rich; I have become wealthy, and have need of nothing"and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked, ¹⁸ Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments to clothe you, and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.

¹⁷ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

⁶ Then he said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life without cost.

¹ Then he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb, ² through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

¹⁷ The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let him who hears say, "Come." And let him who is thirsty come; let him who wishes take the water of life without price.

⁴ Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"

¹⁴ But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

⁴² The queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

⁶ Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

⁵³ Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you claim to be?"

³ Yet Jesus has been counted worthy of as much more glory than Moses as the builder of a house has more honor than the house.

²⁴ And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in agony in this flame.'

²⁷ Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal."

⁴⁹ Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

⁴⁶ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

⁵⁸ This is the bread which came down from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna and died. He who eats this bread will live for ever."

¹⁰ The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

²⁶ and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you forever ¹⁷ the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; but you know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. ¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. ¹⁹ A little while longer, and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.

² as you have given him authority over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to all those you have given him. ³ And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

²¹ so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁶ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ¹⁷ and if children, then heirsheirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, in order that we may also be glorified with him.

²² he has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

¹³ In him, you also have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having also believed, you were sealed in him with the promised Holy Spirit, ¹⁴ who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance, until the redemption of those who are God's possessionto the praise of his glory.

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.

¹⁶ They will hunger no more, nor thirst anymore; the sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat.

²⁶ Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.

³⁴ Then they said to him, "Lord, give us this bread always."

⁵ For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

³ You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

⁴² He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You shall be called Cephas" (which means Peter).

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!" ⁴⁸ Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."

²⁴ But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew all men, ²⁵ and he had no need for anyone to bear witness of man, for he knew what was in man.

¹⁸ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly."

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep.

¹³ And there is no creature hidden from his sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²³ And I will strike her children dead. And all the churches shall know that I am he who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works.

¹² And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."

³ So then, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and though she marries another man, she is not an adulteress.

¹⁰ To the married I give charge, not I but the Lord, that the wife should not separate from her husband ¹¹ (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife.

⁴ Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the immoral and adulterous.

¹¹ So the crowds said, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."

¹⁶ Fear seized them all; and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us;" and "God has visited his people."

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner."

¹⁹ And he said to them, "What things?" And they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,

⁴⁸ Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." ⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"

²⁹ "Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"

¹⁴ When the people saw the sign that Jesus did, they said, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."

⁴⁰ When they heard these words, some of the people said, "Surely this is the prophet."

¹⁷ So they again said to the blind man, "What do you say about him, since he has opened your eyes?" He said, "He is a prophet."

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; ²⁵ the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so, he will fall on his face, and worship God, declaring that God is really among you.

⁵³ but the people did not receive him, because his face was set for Jerusalem.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

¹⁹ Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

⁵ And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and offerings, he said, ⁶ "As for these things which you see, the days will come when there shall not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."

²⁴ They will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him.

²⁵ Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.

²⁸ Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voice

⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

² They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.

³² Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, when you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave me alone. And yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

¹⁴ for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses handed down to us."

¹⁸ for through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

¹⁴ For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

⁸ Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or quarreling.

¹⁷ If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your exile on earth.

⁴⁷ and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

²³ For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.'What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.

³⁰ The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

¹ Then what advantage has the Jew, or what is the value of circumcision? ² Much in every way! To begin with, they are entrusted with the oracles of God.

⁴ They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. ⁵ Of them are the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, forever blessed. Amen.

¹⁴ For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests.

⁷ You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, when he said: ⁸ 'These people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. ⁹ In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.'"

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank you that I am not like other menextortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.' ¹³ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

²¹ Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

²³ Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in my prayers,

¹⁵ For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

⁶ Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

¹⁸ Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and petition. And with this in view, keep alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

³ For we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh,

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

²⁰ But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; ²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God; wait anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

¹² For our boast is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with holiness and godly sincerity, not in worldly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and still more toward you.

¹⁷ Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

¹⁷ Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

¹⁶ and Jacob the father of Josnt the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.

⁴¹ He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means the Christ). ⁴² He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You shall be called Cephas" (which means Peter).

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"

⁴² They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man is indeed the Savior of the world."

²⁰ Then he strictly charged his disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'

⁶³ But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God." ⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. But I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."

⁶¹ But he was silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" ⁶² And Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."

³⁰ And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last."

²⁴ Therefore I told to you that you would die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."

³⁵ Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and when he found him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?" ³⁶ He answered, "Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?" ³⁷ Jesus said to him, "You have seen him, and it is he who speaks with you."

²⁰ But Isaiah is very bold and says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me." ²¹ But of Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people."

⁸ For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. ⁹ Then the woman of Samaria said to him, "How is it that you, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

⁸ So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

⁸ So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. ⁹ Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven demons. ¹⁰ She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

⁹ Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

³³ So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,

⁷ There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink."

²³ And all the people were amazed and said, "Could this be the Son of David?"

And he found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." ⁴⁴ Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!"

¹⁷ The woman answered, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying, 'I have no husband'; ¹⁸ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly."

²⁵ The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When he comes, he will tell us all things."

²⁶ Here he is, speaking publicly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that he is the Christ?

³¹ And many of the people believed in him, and they said, "When the Christ comes, will he do more signs than this man has done?"

¹ Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, ² saying, "Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East and have come to worship him." ³ When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

¹¹ I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. ¹² But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

²⁰ Then he began to rebuke the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. ²¹ "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. ²² But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. ²³ And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. ²⁴ But I tell you that it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you."

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ⁴¹ The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here. ⁴² The queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

¹⁶ So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

¹⁶ and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷ Then said Jesus, "Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? ¹⁸ Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?"

⁵ Philip went down to a city of Samaria and proclaimed Christ to them. ⁶ The crowds with one accord were giving attention to what was said by Philip, when they heard and saw the signs which he did. ⁷ For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. ⁸ So there was much joy in that city.

³³ So I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord."

⁴² As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people begged that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.

²⁸ Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen."

²⁰ Law came in, that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,

⁷ and greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi.'

³⁸ Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"

³⁰ He brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" ³¹ They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." ³² They spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. ³³ He took them that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his family. ³⁴ Then he brought them up into his house, and set food before them; and he rejoiced with his whole household that he had believed in God.

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to finish his work.

³⁵ In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

¹⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna. And I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone which no one knows except him who receives it.'

⁶ Then Jesus said to them, "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees." ⁷ And they discussed among themselves, saying, "It is because we have taken no bread." ⁸ But Jesus, aware of this, said, "O men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? ⁹ Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? ¹⁰ Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? ¹¹ How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees."

⁴⁵ But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

³⁹ And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, "O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."

⁴ "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? ⁵ And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.'

¹⁰ In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

¹⁰ For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."

³² But he said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know."

³⁰ "I can do nothing of myself; as I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

³⁶ But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has given me to finish, these very works which I am doing, bear witness of me, that the Father has sent me.

³³ For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

³⁸ For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

⁴ I have glorified you on the earth, having finished the work which you have given me to do.

³⁰ So when Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished!" And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

³⁷ Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. ³⁸ Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."

² And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. ³ Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.

³⁰ They went out of the city and came to him.

¹³ I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have some harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.

²² But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the return you get is holiness and its end, eternal life.

⁵ What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord assigned to each one. ⁶ I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. ⁷ So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. ⁸ Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. ⁹ For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.

¹⁹ For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, that I might win the more. ²⁰ To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews; to those under the law I became as one under the lawthough not being myself under the lawso that I might win those under the law. ²¹ To those who are without law, I became as one without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without the law. ²² To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, so that I might by all means save some. ²³ I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

¹⁵ so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, ¹⁶ holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

¹⁹ For who is our hope or joy or crown of exultation? Is it not even you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus at his coming?

¹⁶ Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. ⁸ In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

¹⁹ My brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, ²⁰ let him know that whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

²¹ for I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.'

¹ In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." ³ For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight." ⁴ Now John wore a garment of camel's hair, and a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey. ⁵ Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan went out to him, ⁶ and confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

⁸ But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. ⁹ Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. ¹⁰ For this is he of whom it is written: 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.' ¹¹ Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. ¹² From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence take it by force. ¹³ For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John.

⁷ He came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all might believe through him.

⁴¹ So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

⁴ But many of those who heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to about five thousand.

³² Now the company of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed that any of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had everything in common.

¹⁴ And all the more believers in the Lord, multitudes of men and women, were constantly added to their number,

⁷ The word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.

⁴ Now those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.

¹⁴ Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, ¹⁵ who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. ¹⁶ For he had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ¹⁷ Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

³⁷ You know what has happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: ³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

⁴² And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. ⁴³ Of him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

¹¹ seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. ¹² It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaventhings into which angels long to look.

⁴¹ And many came to him and they said, "John performed no sign, but all that John said about this man was true." ⁴² And many believed in him there.

⁴⁵ Many of the Jews therefore, who had come to Mary and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him.

³⁸ The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him; but Jesus sent him away, saying,

³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his word.

⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today." ⁶ So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully. ⁷ And when they saw it they all murmured, "He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner." ⁸ And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold." ⁹ And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham. ¹⁰ For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."

²⁹ but they constrained him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent." So he went in to stay with them.

¹⁵ When she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.

¹ Working together with him, then, we urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain. ² For he says, "At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation." Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

²⁸ And when Jesus had finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, ²⁹ for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.

³² And they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.

⁶³ It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and they are life.

⁴⁶ The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man!"

¹² But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

²⁵ Now when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.

³ So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, reporting the conversion of the Gentiles, and they gave great joy to all the brethren.

⁴ and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, ⁵ so that your faith might not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

²¹ And she will give birth to a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. ¹¹ For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

³² a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel."

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, ¹⁵ that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. ¹⁸ He who believes in him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we believe, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God."

¹⁷ So when Jesus came, he found that he had already been in the tomb four days.

⁸ For I have given them the words which you have given me, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.

¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

¹¹ Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. ¹² Therefore many of them believed, along with a number of prominent Greek women and men.

¹¹ The scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame." ¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches on all who call upon him. ¹³ For, "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

¹⁹ that is, God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

¹⁰ For to this end we labor and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

¹⁴ And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world.

¹³ And leaving Nazareth, he went and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali,

²¹ And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. ²² And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried to him, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed." ²³ But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, "Send her away, for she is crying out after us." ²⁴ He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

²⁷ And he said to her, "Let the children first be fed, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." ²⁸ But she answered him, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them; and he stayed there two days.

⁴⁶ So he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was sick.

⁸ For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised to show God's truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs,

⁵⁷ And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house."

⁴ But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house."

²⁴ Then he said, "Truly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people. ²⁴ Then his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought to him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them.

⁴² And when he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom. ⁴³ And when the feast was over, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, ⁴⁴ but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day's journey, and they sought him among their relatives and acquaintances.

⁴⁰ Now when Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him.

¹³ The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. ¹⁴ In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers at their business. ¹⁵ And he made a whip of cords, and drove them all, with the sheep and oxen, out of the temple; and he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. ¹⁶ And he said to those who sold doves, "Take these things away! You shall not make my Father's house a house of merchandise!"

²³ Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs which he did.

² This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him."

¹⁸ While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came and knelt before him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live."

²² And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried to him, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed."

¹⁴ And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and kneeling before him said, ¹⁵ "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water.

² A centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die.

⁴² for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went, the people pressed round him.

¹ On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. ² And Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. ³ When the wine was gone, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." ⁴ Jesus said to her, "Woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come." ⁵ His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." ⁶ Now six stone jars were standing there, according to the manner for purification of the Jews, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. ⁷ Jesus said to them, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim. ⁸ He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the master of the feast." So they took it. ⁹ When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it had come from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. ¹⁰ And he said to him, "Every man sets out the good wine first; and when the guests have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now." ¹¹ This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

² Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.

¹ And when he entered Capernaum after some days, it was heard that he was home. ² And many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And he preached the word to them. ³ Then they came to him, bringing a paralytic carried by four men.

⁵⁵ and ran about that whole region, and began to carry those who were sick around on pallets to wherever they heard he was. ⁵⁶ Wherever he entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched him were made well.

⁴⁷ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"

⁶ And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. ⁷ Therefore I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. ⁸ For I am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

⁴¹ And behold, there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus' feet and begged him to come to his house,

³ he left Judea and departed again to Galilee.

⁵⁴ This was now the second sign that Jesus did when he had come from Judea to Galilee.

²¹ Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

³² Then Mary, when she came where Jesus was and saw him, fell at his feet, saying to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died."

³⁸ Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him, "Please come to us without delay."

¹ Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

²⁴ For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

⁴² "He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.

¹⁸ And he said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

³¹ He said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if some one should rise from the dead.'"

¹⁸ Then the Jews said to him, "What sign do you show to us, since you do this?"

⁴¹ And many more believed because of his word. ⁴² They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man is indeed the Savior of the world."

³⁷ Though he had done so many signs before them, yet they did not believe in him;

²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.

²⁹ Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

¹⁹ And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.

²² "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know

⁴³ Everyone was filled with awe; and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

³⁰ while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of your holy servant Jesus."

¹² Now many signs and wonders were done among the people by the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon's Porch.

⁸ And Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

³⁶ This man led them out, performing wonders and signs in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the wilderness for forty years.

³ So they spent a long time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

¹² All the assembly kept silent; and they listened to Barnabas and Paul as they related what signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.

¹⁹ by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit, so that from Jerusalem and as far round as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

²² Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,

¹² The signs of a true apostle were performed among you in all perseverance, with signs and wonders and mighty works.

⁹ The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders,

⁴ while God also bore witness, by signs and wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his own will.

²³ and pleaded earnestly with him, saying, "My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be healed, and live."

³⁵ While he was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue's house who said, "Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?" ³⁶ But ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid; only believe."

¹³ Then to the centurion Jesus said, "Go; be it done for you as you have believed." And his servant was healed at that very hour.

²⁹ Then he said to her, "For this saying you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter." ³⁰ She went home, and found her child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

²³ Jesus said to him, "If you can, all things are possible to him who believes." ²⁴ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe; help my unbelief!"

¹⁴ When he saw them, he said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.

⁴⁰ Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?"

⁹ He listened to Paul speaking; and Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, ¹⁰ said with a loud voice, "Stand upright on your feet." And he leaped up and began to walk.

²⁰ He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, ²¹ being fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.

¹⁹ He considered that God was able to raise men even from the dead; from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

⁵⁰ Jesus said to him, "Go; your son will live." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went his way.

⁵³ So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." And he himself believed, and all his household.

⁸ But the centurion answered him, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. But only say the word, and my servant will be healed. ⁹ For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

⁹ And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

³⁹ For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, for all whom the Lord our God will call to himself."

¹⁴ he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.'

³⁴ Then he brought them up into his house, and set food before them; and he rejoiced with his whole household that he had believed in God.

⁸ Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with all his household; and many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized.

⁴⁵ So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they too had gone to the feast.
