³⁹ Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

¹⁴ And they said, "Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

¹¹ So the crowds said, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."

¹⁶ John answered them all, "I baptize you with water; but one mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

¹⁶ Fear seized them all; and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us;" and "God has visited his people."

⁴⁹ And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city, until you are clothed with power from on high."

²¹ And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the prophet?" And he answered, "No."

²⁵ They asked him, "Then why do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?"

³³ I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

¹⁴ When the people saw the sign that Jesus did, they said, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."

¹² And there was much complaining among the people about him. Some said, "He is a good man"; others said, "No, on the contrary, he deceives the people."

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

²³ Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

³¹ When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and in him God is glorified. ³² If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.

¹³ And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you forever ¹⁷ the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; but you know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

⁵ And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory which I had with you before the world was made.

²² And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.

⁴ And while staying with them, he commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, "Which," he said, "you heard of from me; ⁵ for John baptized with water, but before many days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." ⁶ So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" ⁷ He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by his own authority. ⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth."

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

¹⁷ 'And in the last days it shall be, God says, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;

³³ Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear.

³⁸ And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.

³¹ And when they had prayed, the place where they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.

⁹ But you are not in the flesh, you are in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ he does not belong to him.

⁸ will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

¹³ In him, you also have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having also believed, you were sealed in him with the promised Holy Spirit, ¹⁴ who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance, until the redemption of those who are God's possessionto the praise of his glory.

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
