⁵³ When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."

¹² And Jesus entered the temple of God and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold doves. ¹³ And he said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of robbers.'" ¹⁴ And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. ¹⁵ But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were indignant;

²³ And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?"

⁴⁵ When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them. ⁴⁶ But when they tried to arrest him, they feared the multitudes, because they held him to be a prophet.

³⁷ And every day he was teaching in the temple, but at night he went out to spend the night on the mount called Olivet. ³⁸ And early in the morning all the people came to him in the temple to hear him.

²⁵ Then some of the people of Jerusalem said, "Is not this the man whom they seek to kill? ²⁶ Here he is, speaking publicly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that he is the Christ?

³⁰ Then they sought to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

⁴⁵ The officers then went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why did you not bring him?"

²⁷ "Now is my soul troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, for this purpose I came to this hour.

³⁰ I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in me.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. ²¹ When a woman is in labor she has sorrow, because her hour has come; but as soon as she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a child has been born into the world. ²² So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

³ And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. ⁴ In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

¹² For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

¹³ For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son,

⁹ And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole worldhe was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. ¹⁰ Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night. ¹¹ They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives even to the death. ¹² Rejoice then, O heavens and you that dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"
