And they stood still, looking sad. ¹⁸ Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?" ¹⁹ And he said to them, "What things?" And they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, ²⁰ and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and crucified him. ²¹ But we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since all this happened. ²² In addition, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning, ²³ and when they did not find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said he was alive. ²⁴ Some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just as the women had said; but him they did not see." ²⁵ And he said to them, "O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter his glory?" ²⁷ And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things concerning himself in all the scriptures. ²⁸ As they drew near the village to which they were going, he acted as though he would be going farther, ²⁹ but they constrained him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent." So he went in to stay with them. ³⁰ When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. ³¹ Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight. ³² And they said to each other, "Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked with us on the road, while he opened to us the scriptures?" ³³ So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, ³⁴ saying, "The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!" ³⁵ Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread. ³⁶ As they were saying this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." ³⁷ But they were startled and frightened, and supposed that they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your hearts? ³⁹ See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have." ⁴⁰ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. ⁴¹ And while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?" ⁴² They gave him a piece of broiled fish, ⁴³ and he took it and ate in their presence. ⁴⁴ Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled." ⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds, so they could understand the Scriptures. ⁴⁶ And he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, ⁴⁷ and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city, until you are clothed with power from on high." ⁵⁰ Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them. ⁵¹ While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. ⁵² Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, ⁵³ and were continually in the temple praising God.

⁵⁵ And many women were also there, looking on from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him; ⁵⁶ among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.

¹ Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. ² And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. ³ His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. ⁴ And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. ⁵ But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. ⁶ He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. ⁷ Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead. And behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Behold, I have told you." ⁸ So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

⁴⁰ There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome,

¹ Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. ² And very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. ³ And they asked each other, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" ⁴ But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, though it was very large, had been rolled away. ⁵ And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were alarmed. ⁶ But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. ⁷ But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you." ⁸ So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

² and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had come out, ³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their means.

⁵⁵ Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. ⁵⁶ And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

¹⁰ It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told this to the apostles.

¹ On the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. ² So she ran, and came to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him."

⁶⁰ and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed. ⁶¹ Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb. ⁶² The next day, the one after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered to Pilate ⁶³ and said, "Sir, we remember how that deceiver said, while he was still alive, 'After three days I will rise again.' ⁶⁴ Therefore order that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night and steal him away, and tell the people, 'He has risen from the dead.' So the last deception will be worse than the first." ⁶⁵ Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how." ⁶⁶ So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.

⁴⁶ Then he bought fine linen, took him down, and wrapped him in the linen. And he laid him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. ⁴⁷ Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid.

³ And they asked each other, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" ⁴ But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, though it was very large, had been rolled away. ⁵ When the disciples reached the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

²³ and when they did not find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said he was alive.

⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, ⁷ and the napkin that had been around his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a place by itself.

¹¹ But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. ¹² And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and the other at the feet.

¹⁰ And as they were gazing intently into the sky while he was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them.

³ His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. ⁴ And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. ⁵ But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.

⁵ And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were alarmed. ⁶ But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

¹² And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. ¹³ But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

²⁹ But she was greatly troubled at his saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be.

³ About the ninth hour of the day he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God who had just come in and said to him, "Cornelius!" ⁴ And he stared at him in terror, and said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and alms have ascended as a memorial before God.

⁸ In this case tithes are received by mortal men, but in that case by one of whom it is witnessed that he lives on.

¹⁸ and the Living One; I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore! And I have the keys of death and Hades.

⁸ "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: 'These are the words of the First and the Last, who died, and came to life:

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²¹ From that time Jesus began to show to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.

²² Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, ²³ and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day." And they were greatly distressed.

¹⁸ "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn him to death, ¹⁹ and deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day."

⁶³ and said, "Sir, we remember how that deceiver said, while he was still alive, 'After three days I will rise again.'

⁶ He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.

³¹ And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

⁹ And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. ¹⁰ So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what the rising from the dead meant.

³⁰ Then they departed from there and passed through Galilee, and he did not want anyone to know it. ³¹ For he was teaching his disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and when he is killed, after three days he will rise." ³² But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to ask him.

³³ "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles; ³⁴ and they will mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and kill him. And after three days he will rise."

²² saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised."

⁴⁴ "Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men."

³¹ Then he took the twelve aside and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written of the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. ³² For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. ³³ They will scourge him and kill him, and on the third day he will rise again."

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled." ⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds, so they could understand the Scriptures. ⁴⁶ And he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,

¹⁹ Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." ²⁰ The Jews then said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?" ²¹ But he was speaking of the temple of his body. ²² When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

¹⁰ She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabboni!" (which means, Teacher). ¹⁷ Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, "I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'" ¹⁸ Mary Magdalene went and said to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them that he had said these things to her.

¹¹ And when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.

²⁵ And he said to them, "O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

⁹ So he went out and followed him; and he did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.

³ Peter therefore went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. ⁴ They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. ⁵ And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, ⁷ and the napkin that had been around his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a place by itself. ⁸ Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in; and he saw and believed. ⁹ For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead. ¹⁰ Then the disciples went back to their homes.

¹² After this he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. ¹³ And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.

¹⁸ Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?"

⁴⁵ The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

³⁶ As they were saying this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."

¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. ¹⁹ A little while longer, and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.

¹² After this he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country.

³¹ Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight.

¹⁴ Saying this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus.

⁴ But early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

⁶ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. ²¹ When a woman is in labor she has sorrow, because her hour has come; but as soon as she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a child has been born into the world. ²² So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

²⁵ By the cross of Jesus stood his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

¹¹ So the crowds said, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."

²⁴ saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Did you come to destroy us? I know who you arethe Holy One of God!"

¹⁶ Fear seized them all; and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us;" and "God has visited his people."

² This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him."

¹⁹ The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

¹⁴ When the people saw the sign that Jesus did, they said, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."

⁴⁰ When they heard these words, some of the people said, "Surely this is the prophet." ⁴¹ Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Will the Christ come from Galilee? ⁴² Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes from David, and from Bethlehem, the town where David was?"

⁵² They replied, "Are you from Galilee, too? Search and look, and you will find that no prophet is to rise out of Galilee."

²² "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know

²² Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds.

³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

¹ When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death. ² And they bound him, and led him away and delivered him to Pilate the governor.

²⁰ But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

¹ Very early in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

⁶⁶ As soon as it was day, the council of the elders of the people came together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led him away to their council chamber, saying,

¹³ Pilate then called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. ¹⁴ But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, ¹⁵ but killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders, ⁹ if we are being examined today for a good deed done to a cripple, as to how this man has been healed, ¹⁰ be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him this man stands before you healed.

²⁷ For truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, ²⁸ to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised Jesuswhom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. ³¹ God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.

²⁷ For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him. ²⁸ Though they found no ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. ²⁹ When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.

⁶⁸ "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people,

³⁸ And coming up at that very hour she gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.

⁶ So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"

¹⁸ You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals; for you were slain, and with your blood purchased men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

¹⁸ So he said to them, "Are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him,

¹⁷ Being aware of it, Jesus said to them, "Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?

¹⁹ He answered him, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me."

¹⁴ Later he appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen him after he had risen.

¹¹ About this we have much to say which is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. ¹² For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of God's word. You need milk, not solid food;

⁷ 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.'"

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled."

⁴⁶ And he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,

³ explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ."

³ For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ⁴ that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

⁸ and put everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. As it is, we do not yet see everything subject to him. ⁹ But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. ¹⁰ For it was fitting that he, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.

²² Indeed, under the law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. ²³ It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

³ Blessed be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has caused us to be born again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

¹¹ seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

³⁹ You search the Scriptures, because in them you think that you have eternal life; and these are they that testify of me.

⁴⁵ Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; it is Moses who accuses you, on whom you set your hope. ⁴⁶ If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. ⁴⁷ But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?"

²² Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; you shall listen to everything he tells you.

²⁴ And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came afterwards, also announced these days.

³⁷ This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, 'God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren.'

⁴³ Of him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

²⁷ For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him. ²⁸ Though they found no ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. ²⁹ When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. ³⁰ But God raised him from the dead;

¹⁰ Then I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

⁴⁸ And he saw the disciples straining at the oars, for the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He was about to pass by them,

²³ Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

¹⁴ A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, who was a worshiper of God, was listening. The Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.

¹⁹ Then he commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave them to the multitudes.

³⁶ Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.

²⁶ Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is my body."

⁴¹ And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and he divided the two fish among them all.

⁶ So he commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd.

²² And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, "Take; this is my body."

¹⁶ Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the people.

¹⁹ And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me."

³⁵ Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.

¹¹ Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted.

³⁵ Having said this, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of all, and he broke it and began to eat.

³⁰ But passing through the midst of them, he went his way.

¹⁶ But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

⁵⁹ So they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.

¹³ They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him." ¹⁴ Saying this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." ¹⁶ Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabboni!" (which means, Teacher).

⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds, so they could understand the Scriptures.

⁶³ It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and they are life.

² And Paul went in, as was his custom, and for three weeks he reasoned with them from the scriptures, ³ explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ."

²³ When they had appointed a day for Paul, they came to him at his lodging in great numbers. And he explained the matter to them from morning till evening, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.

¹² For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

¹³ And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.

¹⁹ On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." ²⁰ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I also send you." ²² And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. ²³ If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." ²⁴ Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. ²⁵ So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger in the mark of the nails, and put my hand in his side, I will not believe." ²⁶ Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you!"

¹⁴ All these with one mind devoted themselves to prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

⁷ But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you."

⁵⁴ Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house. Peter followed at a distance. ⁵⁵ When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. ⁵⁶ And a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight, looked at him, and said, "This man also was with him." ⁵⁷ But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know him." ⁵⁸ And a little later some one else saw him and said, "You also are of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not!" ⁵⁹ Then after about an hour had passed, another insisted, saying, "Certainly this fellow also was with him, for he is a Galilean." ⁶⁰ But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. ⁶¹ And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times." ⁶² And he went out and wept bitterly.

⁵ and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

³⁰ When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. ³¹ Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight.

⁴² They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

¹³ And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

⁵ Whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this house.'

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

³³ I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage! I have overcome the world."

¹⁹ On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." ²⁰ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I also send you." ²² And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. ²³ If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

²⁶ Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you!"

¹⁶ Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

⁴ John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne,

²⁶ But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear. ²⁷ But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take courage! It is I; do not be afraid."

⁴⁹ but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out; ⁵⁰ for they all saw him, and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, "Take courage! It is I; do not be afraid."

³⁰ And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'

¹⁵ They said to her, "You are out of your mind!" But she kept insisting that it was so. They said, "It is his angel."

⁸ But Jesus, aware of this, said, "O men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves the fact that you have no bread?

¹³ And there is no creature hidden from his sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

⁴⁶ Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God, and said, "Certainly this was a righteous man!"

²⁰ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

²⁵ So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger in the mark of the nails, and put my hand in his side, I will not believe."

²⁷ Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands. Reach out your hand, and put it into my side; do not be unbelieving, but believing."

³ To these he also presented himself alive after his suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.

²³ Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ Besides this, we have had fathers of our flesh to discipline us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have touched, concerning the Word of life,

²² So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

⁵ Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No."

¹⁰ Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught." ¹¹ Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net ashore, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. ¹² Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." Now none of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. ¹³ Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.

⁴¹ not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

⁵⁴ But how then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen in this way?"

⁵⁶ But all this has taken place, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook him and fled.

³¹ And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. ³² He spoke plainly about this. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

³¹ For he was teaching his disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and when he is killed, after three days he will rise."

³¹ Then he took the twelve aside and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written of the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. ³² For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. ³³ They will scourge him and kill him, and on the third day he will rise again." ³⁴ But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.

²² For these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all that is written.

³⁷ For I tell you that this scripture must be fulfilled in me, 'And he was numbered with transgressors'; for what is written about me has its fulfillment."

⁶ He is not here, but is risen! Remember how he told you while he was still in Galilee, ⁷ 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.'"

²⁶ Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter his glory?" ²⁷ And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things concerning himself in all the scriptures.

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

⁴⁶ If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.

⁴ But I have told you these things, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. "I did not say these things to you at the beginning, because I was with you. ⁵ But now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?'

¹⁶ "A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me." ¹⁷ Then some of his disciples said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?"

¹¹ And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name the name you gave me that they may be one, even as we are one. ¹² While I was with them, I kept them in your name the name you gave me. I have guarded them, and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. ¹³ But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

²⁴ So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be." This happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: "They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots." This is what the soldiers did. ²⁵ By the cross of Jesus stood his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. ²⁶ When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing by, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son!" ²⁷ Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. ²⁸ After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst." ²⁹ Now a vessel full of wine vinegar was sitting there; so they filled a sponge with the vinegar, put it on hyssop, and put it to his mouth. ³⁰ So when Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished!" And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. ³¹ Therefore, because it was the day of Preparation, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. ³² Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who had been crucified with him. ³³ But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. ³⁴ But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. ³⁵ He who saw it has testified, and his testimony is true, and he knows that he tells the truth, that you also may believe. ³⁶ For these things were done that the scripture should be fulfilled, "Not one of his bones shall be broken." ³⁷ And again another scripture says, "They shall look on him whom they have pierced."

¹⁸ But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled.

²² Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; you shall listen to everything he tells you. ²³ And it shall be that every soul that does not listen to that prophet will be destroyed from among the people.' ²⁴ And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came afterwards, also announced these days.

²⁹ When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. ³⁰ But God raised him from the dead; ³¹ and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.

³³ he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: 'You are my Son; today I have begotten you.'

⁵ Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,

¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him.

⁸ The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the holy place had not yet been disclosed as long as the outer tabernacle was still standing.

¹ For since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near.

³² And they said to each other, "Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked with us on the road, while he opened to us the scriptures?"

¹⁸ to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

¹⁴ But their minds were hardened; for to this day, when they read the old covenant, the same veil remains unlifted, because only in Christ is it removed. ¹⁵ Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts. ¹⁶ But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. ¹⁷ Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. ¹⁸ And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

⁴ In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

¹⁴ For this reason it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

⁷ "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: 'These are the words of him who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens:

¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

² and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

¹⁰ When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith. ¹¹ I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

¹³ But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them: "Do not go among the Gentiles, or enter any town of the Samaritans. ⁶ But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

¹⁹ Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!

³⁸ And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ Repent therefore, and turn again, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

²⁵ You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.' ²⁶ For you first, God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways."

³¹ God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.

⁴⁶ For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said, ⁴⁷ "Can anyone refuse the water for these people to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" ⁴⁸ And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.

¹⁸ When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "So then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance unto life."

³⁸ Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, ³⁹ and through him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.

⁴⁶ Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first. Since you reject it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

³⁰ The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, ³¹ because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given proof to all men by raising him from the dead."

⁵ When Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. ⁶ But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them, "Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."

²¹ testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁰ but declared first to those at Damascus, then at Jerusalem and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God and perform deeds worthy of their repentance.

²⁸ Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen."

²⁰ Law came in, that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,

¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches on all who call upon him. ¹³ For, "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." ¹⁴ How then can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without a preacher? ¹⁵ And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!" ¹⁶ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?" ¹⁷ So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. ¹⁸ But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have; for "Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world."

²⁶ And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; ²⁷ and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins."

⁸ For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised to show God's truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs, ⁹ and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name"; ¹⁰ and again it says: "Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people!" ¹¹ and again, "Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and praise him, all you peoples"; ¹² And again, Isaiah says: "There shall be a root of Jesse; and he who shall rise to rule over the Gentiles, in him the Gentiles shall hope." ¹³ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. ¹⁴ I myself am satisfied about you, my brethren, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another. ¹⁵ But I have written very boldly to you on some points, so as to remind you again, because of the grace that was given me from God, ¹⁶ to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

⁶ to the praise of his glorious grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

⁸ To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

²⁷ To them God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

¹² I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

²⁷ And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth."

²² beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from usone of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection."

³² This Jesus God raised up again, and of that we are all witnesses.

¹⁵ but killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

³³ And with great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

³² We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

³⁹ We are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree;

³¹ and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.

¹⁵ For you will be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and heard.

³ how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us by those who heard him, ⁴ while God also bore witness, by signs and wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his own will.

¹ So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ and a partaker in the glory that is to be revealed,

² the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us ³ that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you forever ¹⁷ the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; but you know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

²⁶ "But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify of me.

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. ⁸ And when he comes, he will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: ⁹ of sin, because they do not believe in me; ¹⁰ of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you see me no more; ¹¹ of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. ¹² "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. ¹³ But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak; and he will tell you things to come. ¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will take of what is mine and declare it to you. ¹⁵ All that the Father has is mine. Therefore I said that he will take of what is mine and declare it to you. ¹⁶ "A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me."

⁴ And while staying with them, he commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, "Which," he said, "you heard of from me;

¹ When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. ² And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. ³ And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. ⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ⁵ Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. ⁶ And at this sound the crowd came together, and they were bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. ⁷ They were amazed and wondered, saying, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? ⁸ And how is it that we hear them, each of us in his own native language? ⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabswe hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God." ¹² And they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?" ¹³ But others were mocking and said, "They are full of sweet wine." ¹⁴ But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them: "Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words. ¹⁵ For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day; ¹⁶ but this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ¹⁷ 'And in the last days it shall be, God says, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; ¹⁸ even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy. ¹⁹ And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. ²⁰ The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come. ²¹ And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

¹⁷ Then he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and he lodged there.

¹⁶ And he took them in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

¹ And when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

¹² Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away.

⁵ And those descendants of Levi who receive the priestly office have a commandment in the law to take a tenth from the people, that is, from their brethren, though these also are descended from Abraham. ⁶ But this man whose genealogy is not derived from them received a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. ⁷ And without dispute the lesser person is blessed by the greater.

¹⁹ So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

¹⁷ Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, "I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

⁹ And after he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

⁸ Therefore it says, "When he ascended on high, he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men." ⁹ (In saying, "He ascended," what does it mean except that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He who descended is also he who ascended far above all the heavens, so that he might fill all things.)

³ He is the radiance of his glory and the exact representation of his being, and upholds all things by the word of his power. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

¹⁴ Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

⁹ And behold, Jesus met them and said, "Hail!" And they came to him and took hold of his feet and worshipped him.

¹⁷ When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted.

²⁸ You have heard me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for the Father is greater than I.

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

²⁸ Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"

⁸ Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an inexpressible and glorious joy,

²⁰ teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

²⁰ Then they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the signs that accompanied it. Amen.

⁴⁶ And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they ate together with glad and sincere hearts, ⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

⁴¹ Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they had been counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. ⁴² And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

²¹ The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
