⁴⁴ Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled."

²¹ From that time Jesus began to show to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.

²² Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, ²³ and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day." And they were greatly distressed.

¹⁸ "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn him to death, ¹⁹ and deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day."

⁵⁴ But how then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen in this way?"

⁵⁶ But all this has taken place, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook him and fled.

³¹ And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. ³² He spoke plainly about this. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

³¹ For he was teaching his disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and when he is killed, after three days he will rise."

³³ "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles; ³⁴ and they will mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and kill him. And after three days he will rise."

²² saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised."

⁴⁴ "Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men."

³¹ Then he took the twelve aside and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written of the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. ³² For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. ³³ They will scourge him and kill him, and on the third day he will rise again." ³⁴ But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.

²² For these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all that is written.

³⁷ For I tell you that this scripture must be fulfilled in me, 'And he was numbered with transgressors'; for what is written about me has its fulfillment."

⁶ He is not here, but is risen! Remember how he told you while he was still in Galilee, ⁷ 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.'"

²⁶ Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter his glory?" ²⁷ And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things concerning himself in all the scriptures.

⁴⁶ And he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

³⁹ You search the Scriptures, because in them you think that you have eternal life; and these are they that testify of me.

⁴⁶ If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.

⁴ But I have told you these things, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. "I did not say these things to you at the beginning, because I was with you. ⁵ But now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?'

¹⁶ "A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me." ¹⁷ Then some of his disciples said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?"

¹¹ And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name the name you gave me that they may be one, even as we are one. ¹² While I was with them, I kept them in your name the name you gave me. ²⁴ So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be." This happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: "They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots." This is what the soldiers did. ²⁵ By the cross of Jesus stood his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. ²⁶ When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing by, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son!" ²⁷ Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. ²⁸ After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst." ²⁹ Now a vessel full of wine vinegar was sitting there; so they filled a sponge with the vinegar, put it on hyssop, and put it to his mouth. ³⁰ So when Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished!" And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. ³¹ Therefore, because it was the day of Preparation, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. ³² Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who had been crucified with him. ³³ But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. ³⁴ But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. ³⁵ He who saw it has testified, and his testimony is true, and he knows that he tells the truth, that you also may believe. ³⁶ For these things were done that the scripture should be fulfilled, "Not one of his bones shall be broken." ³⁷ And again another scripture says, "They shall look on him whom they have pierced."

¹⁸ But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled.

²² Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; you shall listen to everything he tells you. ²³ And it shall be that every soul that does not listen to that prophet will be destroyed from among the people.' ²⁴ And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came afterwards, also announced these days.

³⁷ This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, 'God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren.'

²⁹ When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. ³⁰ But God raised him from the dead; ³¹ and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.

³³ he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: 'You are my Son; today I have begotten you.'

² And Paul went in, as was his custom, and for three weeks he reasoned with them from the scriptures, ³ explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ."

³ For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ⁴ that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

⁵ Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,

¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him.

⁸ The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the holy place had not yet been disclosed as long as the outer tabernacle was still standing.

¹ For since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near.
