³⁶ Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."

It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴² Rise, let us go; see, my betrayer is at hand."

³⁹ He came out, and went to the Mount of Olives, as was his custom, and his disciples followed him. ⁴⁰ When he came to the place, he said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation." ⁴¹ And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, ⁴² "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done." ⁴³ An angel appeared to him from heaven, and strengthened him. ⁴⁴ And being in agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground. ⁴⁵ When he rose from prayer, and came to his disciples, he found them sleeping from sorrow. ⁴⁶ He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation."

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples over the Kidron valley, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. ² Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with his disciples. ³ So Judas, having received a detachment of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. ⁴ Then Jesus, knowing all that was to come upon him, went forward and said to them, "Whom do you seek?" ⁵ They answered him, "Jesus of Nazareth." And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth." ⁸ Jesus answered, "I told you that I am he. So, if you seek me, let these men go." ⁹ This happened so that the words which he had spoken would be fulfilled, "Of those whom you gave me I have lost none." ¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. ¹¹ Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup which the Father has given me?"

⁷ In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his godly fear.
