¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

¹⁸ For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth and flattering words they deceive the hearts of the simple.

And with this in view, keep alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

³ Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

⁹ The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, ¹⁰ and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ For this reason God sends upon them a strong delusion so that they will believe what is false,

⁶ He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall into the same condemnation as the devil. ⁷ He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
