³² Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone,

¹⁶ yet who know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law will no flesh be justified.

¹⁹ For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God.

¹⁰ For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to do them." ¹¹ Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "The righteous man shall live by faith." ¹² But the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "He who does them shall live by them." ¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for usfor it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"

⁴ You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen away from grace.

⁸ For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God ⁹ not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

⁵ he saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but because of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷ so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

⁹ But if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. ¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point has become guilty of all of it.

²⁰ But are you willing to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is useless? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? ²² You see that faith was working with his works, and faith was completed by works, ²³ and the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness", and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. ²⁵ In the same way was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works, when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? ²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
