⁵ And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

³⁶ "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" ³⁷ Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'

¹⁷ 'And in the last days it shall be, God says, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;

³³ Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear.

¹⁴ For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. ¹⁵ For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." ¹⁶ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ¹⁷ and if children, then heirsheirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, in order that we may also be glorified with him.

²⁸ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

³ But if anyone loves God, he is known by him.

²² he has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

¹⁸ And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

⁶ For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

⁶ Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

¹³ In him, you also have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having also believed, you were sealed in him with the promised Holy Spirit,

¹⁶ that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner man, ¹⁷ so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, ¹⁸ may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, ¹⁹ and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

²⁰ as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be ashamed in anything, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope by grace,

¹² For this reason I also suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.

⁵ he saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but because of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

¹⁸ so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. ¹⁹ We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,

¹⁰ This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and I will write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ¹¹ And they shall not teach every one his fellow or every one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for all shall know me, from the least of them to the greatest. ¹² For I will be merciful to their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more."

¹⁹ We love because he first loved us.
