³¹ but Israel, who pursued the law of righteousness, has not attained that law.

²⁰ Therefore no flesh will be justified in his sight by works of the law, for through the law comes knowledge of sin.

¹⁴ For if those who are of the law are to be the heirs, faith has no value and the promise is void, ¹⁵ because the law brings wrath, for where there is no law there is no transgression.

³⁰ What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, righteousness through faith; ³¹ but Israel, who pursued the law of righteousness, has not attained that law. ³² Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone,

² For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but it is not according to knowledge. ³ For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. ⁴ For Christ is the end of the law, that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

⁷ What then? Israel did not obtain what it sought. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,

¹⁰ For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to do them." ¹¹ Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "The righteous man shall live by faith."

²¹ Is the law then opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given which could impart life, then righteousness would indeed have come by the law.

³ I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law. ⁴ You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen away from grace.

⁶ as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless.

¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point has become guilty of all of it. ¹¹ For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," said also, "Do not murder." If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
