¹ Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the assemblies of Galatia, so do *ye* do also. ² On [the] first of [the] week let each of you put by at home, laying up [in] whatever [degree] he may have prospered, that there may be no collections when I come. ³ And when I am arrived, whomsoever ye shall approve, these I will send with letters to carry your bounty to Jerusalem: ⁴ and if it be suitable that *I* also should go, they shall go with me. ⁵ But I will come to you when I shall have gone through Macedonia; for I do go through Macedonia. ⁶ But perhaps I will stay with you, or even winter with you, that *ye* may set me forward wheresoever I may go. ⁷ For I will not see you now in passing, for I hope to remain a certain time with you, if the Lord permit. ⁸ But I remain in Ephesus until Pentecost. ⁹ For a great door is opened to me and an effectual [one], and [the] adversaries many. ¹⁰ Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear; for he works the work of the Lord, even as I. ¹¹ Let not therefore any one despise him; but set him forward in peace, that he may come to me; for I expect him with the brethren. ¹² Now concerning the brother Apollos, I begged him much that he would go to you with the brethren; but it was not at all [his] will to go now; but he will come when he shall have good opportunity. ¹³ Be vigilant; stand fast in the faith; quit yourselves like men; be strong. ¹⁴ Let all things ye do be done in love. ¹⁵ But I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the first-fruits of Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the saints for service,) ¹⁶ that *ye* should also be subject to such, and to every one joined in the work and labouring. ¹⁷ But I rejoice in the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus; because *they* have supplied what was lacking on your part. ¹⁸ For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: own therefore such. ¹⁹ The assemblies of Asia salute you. ¹¹ For the needy shall never cease from within the land; therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thy hand bountifully unto thy brother, to thy poor and to thy needy, in thy land. ¹² If thy brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, have been sold unto thee, he shall serve thee six years, and in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee. ¹³ And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty; ¹⁴ thou shalt certainly furnish him from thy sheep, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of what Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee with shalt thou give unto him.

⁹ Shew yourselves valiant and be men, ye Philistines, that ye may not have to be servants to the Hebrews, as they have been servants to you: be men, and fight.

¹² Be strong, and let us shew ourselves valiant for our people and for the cities of our God; and Jehovah do what is good in his sight.

⁷ Tell me, thou whom my soul loveth, Where thou feedest [thy flock], Where thou makest it to rest at noon; For why should I be as one veiled Beside the flocks of thy companions?

³² And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he pervert by flatteries; but the people that know their God shall be strong, and shall act.

⁴ But now be strong, Zerubbabel, saith Jehovah; and be strong, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith Jehovah, and work: for I am with you, saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁹ Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, that were in the day that the foundation of the house of Jehovah of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.

¹³ And it shall come to pass, like as ye were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear ye not, let your hands be strong.

⁹ Ye are cursed with a curse; and me ye rob, [even] this whole nation. ¹⁰ Bring the whole tithe into the treasure-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I open not to you the windows of the heavens, and pour you out a blessing, till there be no place for it.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother above me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me.

⁴² Watch therefore, for ye know not in what hour your Lord comes. ⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched and not have suffered his house to be dug through [into]. ⁴⁴ Wherefore *ye* also, be ye ready, for in that hour that ye think not the Son of man comes.

³³ Take heed, watch and pray, for ye do not know when the time is: ³⁴ [it is] as a man gone out of the country, having left his house and given to his bondmen the authority, and to each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper that he should watch. ³⁵ Watch therefore, for ye do not know when the master of the house comes: evening, or midnight, or cock-crow, or morning; ³⁶ lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. ³⁷ But what I say to you, I say to all, Watch.

³⁶ Watch therefore, praying at every season, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things which are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

⁴² Jesus said to them, If God were your father ye would have loved me, for I came forth from God and am come [from him]; for neither am I come of myself, but *he* has sent me.

³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. ³⁵ By this shall all know that ye are disciples of mine, if ye have love amongst yourselves.

¹⁴ Not [as] chiding do I write these things to you, but as my beloved children I admonish [you]. ¹⁵ For if ye should have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus *I* have begotten you through the glad tidings.

¹⁷ For this reason I have sent to you Timotheus, who is my beloved and faithful child in [the] Lord, who shall put you in mind of my ways [as] they [are] in Christ, according as I teach everywhere in every assembly.

¹⁹ but I will come quickly to you, if the Lord will; and I will know, not the word of those that are puffed up, but the power.

²⁵ But every one that contends [for a prize] is temperate in all things: *they* then indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown, but *we* an incorruptible. ²⁶ *I* therefore thus run, as not uncertainly; so I combat, as not beating the air. ²⁷ But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest [after] having preached to others I should be myself rejected.

³⁴ If any one be hungry, let him eat at home, that ye may not come together for judgment. But the other things, whenever I come, I will set in order.

³ I give you therefore to know, that no one, speaking in [the power of the] Spirit of God, says, Curse [on] Jesus; and no one can say, Lord Jesus, unless in [the power of the] Holy Spirit.

²⁸ And God has set certain in the assembly: first, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers; then miraculous powers; then gifts of healings; helps; governments; kinds of tongues.

³¹ But desire earnestly the greater gifts, and yet shew I unto you a way of more surpassing excellence.

¹⁶ Since otherwise, if thou blessest with [the] spirit, how shall he who fills the place of the simple [Christian] say Amen, at thy giving of thanks, since he does not know what thou sayest?

²⁰ Brethren, be not children in [your] minds, but in malice be babes; but in [your] minds be grown [men].

¹ But I make known to you, brethren, the glad tidings which I announced to you, which also ye received, in which also ye stand, ² by which also ye are saved, (if ye hold fast the word which I announced to you as the glad tidings,) unless indeed ye have believed in vain.

³² If, [to speak] after the manner of man, I have fought with beasts in Ephesus, what is the profit to me if [those that are] dead do not rise? let us eat and drink; for to-morrow we die.

⁵⁸ So then, my beloved brethren, be firm, immovable, abounding always in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in [the] Lord.

⁶ But perhaps I will stay with you, or even winter with you, that *ye* may set me forward wheresoever I may go.

¹⁰ Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear; for he works the work of the Lord, even as I. ¹¹ Let not therefore any one despise him; but set him forward in peace, that he may come to me; for I expect him with the brethren.

⁹ And being present with you and lacking, I did not lazily burden any one, (for the brethren who came from Macedonia supplied what I lacked,) and in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and will keep myself.

¹³ For this reason take [to you] the panoply of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having accomplished all things, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having girt about your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and shod your feet with [the] preparation of the glad tidings of peace: ¹⁶ besides all [these], having taken the shield of faith with which ye will be able to quench all the inflamed darts of the wicked one. ¹⁷ Have also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God`s word; ¹⁸ praying at all seasons, with all prayer and supplication in [the] Spirit, and watching unto this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints;

²⁷ Only conduct yourselves worthily of the glad tidings of the Christ, in order that whether coming and seeing you, or absent, I may hear of what concerns you, that ye stand firm in one spirit, with one soul, labouring together in the same conflict with the faith of the glad tidings;

¹ If then [there be] any comfort in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of [the] Spirit, if any bowels and compassions, ² fulfil my joy, that ye may think the same thing, having the same love, joined in soul, thinking one thing; ³ [let] nothing [be] in the spirit of strife or vain glory, but, in lowliness of mind, each esteeming the other as more excellent than themselves;

¹⁹ But I hope in [the] Lord Jesus to send Timotheus to you shortly, that *I* also may be refreshed, knowing how ye get on. ²⁰ For I have no one like-minded who will care with genuine feeling how ye get on. ²¹ For all seek their own things, not the things of Jesus Christ. ²² But ye know the proof of him, that, as a child a father, he has served with me in the work of the glad tidings.

³ yea, I ask thee also, true yokefellow, assist them, who have contended along with me in the glad tidings, with Clement also, and my other fellow-labourers, whose names [are] in [the] book of life.

¹² Strive earnestly [in] the good conflict of faith. Lay hold of eternal life, to which thou hast been called, and hast confessed the good confession before many witnesses.

³ Take thy share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴ No one going as a soldier entangles himself with the affairs of life, that he may please him who has enlisted him as a soldier. ⁵ And if also any one contend [in the games], he is not crowned unless he contend lawfully.

⁵ But *thou*, be sober in all things, bear evils, do [the] work of an evangelist, fill up the full measure of thy ministry.

⁷ I have combated the good combat, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

¹⁵ These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.

⁴ But when the kindness and love to man of our Saviour God appeared,

¹² When I shall send Artemas to thee, or Tychicus, use diligence to come to me to Nicopolis; for I have decided to winter there.

¹⁰ For God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work, and the love which ye have shewn to his name, having ministered to the saints, and [still] ministering.

³² And what more do I say? For the time would fail me telling of Gideon, and Barak, and Samson, and Jephthah, and David and Samuel, and of the prophets: ³³ who by faith overcame kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped lions` mouths, ³⁴ quenched [the] power of fire, escaped [the] edge of the sword, became strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, made [the] armies of strangers give way.

⁴ [Let] marriage [be held] every way in honour, and the bed [be] undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers will God judge.

⁷ Remember your leaders who have spoken to you the word of God; and considering the issue of their conversation, imitate their faith.

¹⁷ Obey your leaders, and be submissive; for *they* watch over your souls as those that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not groaning, for this [would be] unprofitable for you.

⁵ Likewise [ye] younger, be subject to [the] elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against [the] proud, but to [the] humble gives grace.

⁸ Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.

³ and endurest, and hast borne for my name`s sake, and hast not wearied:

If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come [upon thee] as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I shall come upon thee.

⁷ And to the angel of the assembly in Philadelphia write: These things saith the holy, the true; he that has the key of David, he who opens and no one shall shut, and shuts and no one shall open: ⁸ I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an opened door, which no one can shut, because thou hast a little power, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

¹⁹ I rebuke and discipline as many as I love; be zealous therefore and repent.

⁴ These are they who have not been defiled with women, for they are virgins: these are they who follow the Lamb wheresoever it goes. These have been bought from men [as] first-fruits to God and to the Lamb:

¹⁵ (Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed [is] he that watches and keeps his garments, that he may not walk naked, and that they [may not] see his shame.)

²⁰ He that testifies these things says, Yea, I come quickly. Amen; come, Lord Jesus.
