¹ The elders which [are] among you I exhort, who [am their] fellow-elder and witness of the sufferings of the Christ, who also [am] partaker of the glory about to be revealed: ² shepherd the flock of God which [is] among you, exercising oversight, not by necessity, but willingly; not for base gain, but readily; ³ not as lording it over your possessions, but being models for the flock. ⁴ And when the chief shepherd is manifested ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory. ⁵ Likewise [ye] younger, be subject to [the] elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against [the] proud, but to [the] humble gives grace. ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in [the due] time; ⁷ having cast all your care upon him, for he cares about you. ⁸ Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour. ⁹ Whom resist, stedfast in faith, knowing that the selfsame sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood which [is] in [the] world. ¹⁰ But the God of all grace who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when ye have suffered for a little while, himself shall make perfect, stablish, strengthen, ground: ¹¹ to him [be] the glory and the might for the ages of the ages. Amen. ¹² By Silvanus, the faithful brother, as I suppose, I have written to you briefly; exhorting and testifying that this is [the] true grace of God in which ye stand. ¹³ She that is elected with [you] in Babylon salutes you, and Marcus my son. ¹⁴ Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all who [are] in Christ.

¹⁹ But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a powerful hand.

³ And Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh, and said to him, Thus saith Jehovah the God of the Hebrews: How long dost thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.

¹¹ And Moses besought Jehovah his God, and said, Why, Jehovah, doth thy wrath burn against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a strong hand?

⁶ And Jehovah passed by before his face, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah ?God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ keeping mercy unto thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but by no means clearing [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children`s children, upon the third and upon the fourth [generation].

³² Before the hoary head thou shalt rise up, and shalt honour the face of an old man; and thou shalt fear thy God: I am Jehovah.

⁴¹ so that I also walked contrary unto them, and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity,

¹⁰ and she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Jehovah, and wept much. ¹¹ And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man child, then I will give him to Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. ¹² And it came to pass as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli marked her mouth. ¹³ Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard; and Eli thought she was drunken. ¹⁴ And Eli said to her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. ¹⁵ And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before Jehovah. ¹⁶ Take not thy handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my grief and provocation have I spoken hitherto. ¹⁷ And Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition which thou hast asked of him. ¹⁸ And she said, Let thy bondwoman find grace in thy sight. And the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more [as before].

⁶ And David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him; for the soul of all the people was embittered, every man because of his sons and because of his daughters; but David strengthened himself in Jehovah his God.

²⁹ Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: in his son`s days will I bring the evil upon his house.

¹⁹ Because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Jehovah, when thou heardest what I spoke against this place and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and didst rend thy garments and weep before me, I also have heard [thee], saith Jehovah.

⁴¹ And now, arise, Jehovah Elohim, into thy resting-place, thou and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, Jehovah Elohim, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in [thy] goodness.

⁶ And the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, Jehovah is righteous. ⁷ And when Jehovah saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Jehovah came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves: I will not destroy them, but I will grant them a little deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

¹² And when he humbled himself, the anger of Jehovah turned away from him, that he would not destroy him altogether; and also in Judah there were good things.

¹¹ Nevertheless certain of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

²⁶ And Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of Jehovah came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

¹² And when he was in affliction, he besought Jehovah his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

²³ And he did not humble himself before Jehovah, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; for he, Amon, multiplied trespass.

¹ {A Psalm of David.} Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want.

¹³ Unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living ...! ¹⁴ Wait for Jehovah; be strong and let thy heart take courage: yea, wait for Jehovah.

¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance!

¹⁵ The eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous, and his ears are toward their cry;

⁵ Commit thy way unto Jehovah, and rely upon him: he will bring [it] to pass;

²² Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and *he* will sustain thee: he will never suffer the righteous to be moved.

³ In the day that I am afraid, I will confide in thee. ⁴ In God will I praise his word, in God I put my confidence: I will not fear; what can flesh do unto me?

²⁴ Thou wilt guide me by thy counsel, and after the glory, thou wilt receive me. ²⁵ Whom have I in the heavens? and there is none upon earth I desire beside thee.

² Remember thine assembly, which thou hast purchased of old, which thou hast redeemed [to be] the portion of thine inheritance, this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

¹⁰ And all the horns of the wicked will I cut off; [but] the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

⁷¹ From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² And he fed them according to the integrity of his heart, and led them by the skilfulness of his hands.

⁵ For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive, and art of great loving-kindness unto all that call upon thee.

¹⁵ But thou, Lord, art a ?God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth.

⁴ I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon among them that know me; behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia: this [man] was born there.

¹⁶ In thy name are they joyful all the day, and in thy righteousness are they exalted. ¹⁷ For thou art the glory of their strength; and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.

²¹ The young lions roar after the prey, and to seek their food from ?God.

⁶ Set a wicked [man] over him, and let [the] adversary stand at his right hand;

⁹ Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness, and let thy saints shout for joy.

¹⁶ And I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

⁷ Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou wilt stretch forth thy hand against the anger of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

⁴ Look on the right hand and see; there is no man that knoweth me: refuge hath failed me; no man careth for my soul. ⁵ I cried unto thee, Jehovah; I said, Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.

³⁴ He indeed scorneth the scorners; but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

¹² The king`s displeasure is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

² The terror of a king is as the roaring of a lion: he that provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

²³ A man`s pride bringeth him low; but the humble in spirit shall obtain honour.

⁸ If thou know not, thou fairest among women, Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, And feed thy kids beside the shepherds` booths.

¹¹ The lofty eyes of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.

²⁹ Their roaring is like a lioness, they roar as the young lions; yea, they growl, and snatch the prey, and carry it away safe, and there is none to deliver; ³⁰ and they shall roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea. And if one look upon the earth, behold darkness [and] distress, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

⁸ And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? And I said, Here am I; send me.

¹² How art thou fallen from heaven, Lucifer, son of the morning! Thou art cut down to the ground, that didst prostrate the nations! ¹³ And thou that didst say in thy heart, I will ascend into the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of ?God, and I will sit upon the mount of assembly, in the recesses of the north;

⁴ Every valley shall be raised up, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places a plain.

¹¹ He will feed his flock like a shepherd: he will gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom; he will gently lead those that give suck.

⁸ He is near that justifieth me: who will contend with me? let us stand together; who is mine adverse party? let him draw near unto me.

¹¹ and the dogs are greedy, they know not to be satisfied, and these are shepherds that know not how to discern: they all turn to their own way, every one for his gain, even to the last of them:

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, and whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy [place], and with him that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with the priestly turban, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

¹¹ But he remembered the days of old, Moses [and] his people: Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he that put his holy Spirit within him,

² Even all these things hath my hand made, and all these things have been, saith Jehovah. But to this man will I look: to the afflicted and contrite in spirit, and who trembleth at my word.

¹⁵ The young lions roared against him, they gave forth their voice, and they made his land desolate: his cities are burned, without inhabitant.

¹³ For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely.

¹⁰ Therefore will I give their wives unto others, their fields to those that shall possess [them]; for every one, from the least even unto the greatest, is given to covetousness; from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely.

¹⁷ And if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for [your] pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Jehovah`s flock is gone into captivity. ¹⁸ Say unto the king and to the queen: Humble yourselves, sit down low; for from your heads shall come down the crown of your magnificence.

²⁰ Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north. Where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

¹⁰ They are not humbled unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes which I set before you and before your fathers.

³⁸ They shall roar together like young lions, growl as lions` whelps.

²¹ And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward every wind; and ye shall know that I Jehovah have spoken.

⁷ And he knew their [desolate] palaces, and he laid waste their cities, so that the land was desolate, and all it contained, by the noise of his roaring.

⁶ Sigh then, thou son of man; with breaking of the loins, and with bitterness sigh before their eyes.

²⁵ There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst of her like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they devour souls; they take away treasure and precious things; they increase her widows in the midst of her;

² Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy; and say unto them, unto the shepherds, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the shepherds of Israel that feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flock? ³ Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool; ye kill them that are fattened: [but] ye feed not the flock. ⁴ The weak have ye not strengthened, nor have ye healed the sick, and ye have not bound up [what was] broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought for that which was lost; but with harshness and with rigour have ye ruled over them.

²³ And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David: he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

³¹ And ye, my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men: I [am] your God, saith the Lord Jehovah.

²⁴ And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: and they shall walk in mine ordinances, and keep my statutes, and do them.

²² And thou, Belshazzar, his son, hast not humbled thy heart, although thou knewest all this;

²⁴ And the king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and broke all their bones in pieces ere they came to the bottom of the den.

³ And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the expanse; and they that turn the many to righteousness as the stars, for ever and ever.

¹⁰ They shall walk after Jehovah; he shall roar like a lion; when he shall roar, then the children shall hasten from the west:

⁸ I will meet them as a bear bereaved of her [whelps], and will rend the covering of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lioness: the beast of the field shall tear them.

¹⁶ And Jehovah will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: and Jehovah will be a shelter for his people, and the refuge of the children of Israel.

² And he said, Jehovah roareth from Zion, and uttereth his voice from Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds mourn, and the top of Carmel withereth.

⁴ Will a lion roar in the forest when he hath no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den if he have taken nothing?

⁸ The lion hath roared, -- who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken, -- who can but prophesy?

¹¹ The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money; yet do they lean upon Jehovah, and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.

⁴ And he shall stand and feed [his flock] in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God. And they shall abide; for now shall he be great even unto the ends of the earth.

⁸ He hath shewn thee, O man, what is good: and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

¹⁴ Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine inheritance, dwelling alone in the forest, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

¹⁸ Who is a ?God like unto thee, that forgiveth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in loving-kindness. ¹⁹ He will yet again have compassion on us, he will tread under foot our iniquities: and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

¹ And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of Jehovah, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

⁶ And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them back again; for I will have mercy upon them; and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am Jehovah their God, and I will answer them.

¹² And I will strengthen them in Jehovah; and they shall walk in his name, saith Jehovah.

³ A voice of howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.

¹⁷ Woe to the worthless shepherd that leaveth the flock! The sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye; his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye utterly darkened.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, even against the man [that is] my fellow, saith Jehovah of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered, and I will turn my hand upon the little ones.

¹⁰ Who is there among you that would even shut the doors? and ye would not kindle [fire] on mine altar for nothing. I have no delight in you, saith Jehovah of hosts, neither will I accept an oblation at your hand.

¹ Then Jesus was carried up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted of the devil:

¹¹ Then the devil leaves him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.

²⁵ For this cause I say unto you, Do not be careful about your life, what ye should eat and what ye should drink; nor for your body what ye should put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment? ²⁶ Look at the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into granaries, and your heavenly Father nourishes them. Are *ye* not much more excellent than they?

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. ³⁴ Be not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day [is] its own evil.

³⁹ and the enemy who has sowed it is the devil; and the harvest is [the] completion of [the] age, and the harvestmen are angels.

²⁵ But Jesus having called them to [him], said, Ye know that the rulers of the nations exercise lordship over them, and the great exercise authority over them. ²⁶ It shall not be thus amongst you, but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your servant;

⁸ But *ye*, be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor, and all *ye* are brethren. ⁹ And call not [any one] your father upon the earth; for one is your Father, he who is in the heavens. ¹⁰ Neither be called instructors, for one is your instructor, the Christ.

¹² And whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.

⁴² Watch therefore, for ye know not in what hour your Lord comes.

⁴⁸ But if that evil bondman should say in his heart, My lord delays to come, ⁴⁹ and begin to beat his fellow-bondmen, and eat and drink with the drunken; ⁵⁰ the lord of that bondman shall come in a day when he does not expect it, and in an hour he knows not of,

³¹ But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit down upon his throne of glory, ³² and all the nations shall be gathered before him; and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; ³³ and he will set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on [his] left. ³⁴ Then shall the King say to those on his right hand, Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from [the] world`s foundation: ³⁵ for I hungered, and ye gave me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; ³⁶ naked, and ye clothed me; I was ill, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, and nourished thee; or thirsting, and gave thee to drink? ³⁸ and when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in; or naked, and clothed thee? ³⁹ and when saw we thee ill, or in prison, and came to thee? ⁴⁰ And the King answering shall say to them, Verily, I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me. ⁴¹ Then shall he say also to those on the left, Go from me, cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

³⁸ And *he* was in the stern sleeping on the cushion. And they awake him up and say to him, Teacher, dost thou not care that we are perishing?

⁴² But Jesus having called them to [him], says to them, Ye know that those who are esteemed to rule over the nations exercise lordship over them; and their great men exercise authority over them; ⁴³ but it is not thus among you; but whosoever would be great among you, shall be your minister; ⁴⁴ and whosoever would be first of you shall be bondman of all. ⁴⁵ For also the Son of man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and give his life a ransom for many.

⁵² He has put down rulers from thrones, and exalted the lowly.

³ And the devil said to him, If thou be Son of God, speak to this stone, that it become bread. ⁴ And Jesus answered unto him saying, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. ⁵ And [the devil], leading him up into a high mountain, shewed him all the kingdoms of the habitable world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the devil said to him, I will give thee all this power, and their glory; for it is given up to me, and to whomsoever I will I give it. ⁷ If therefore *thou* wilt do homage before me, all [of it] shall be thine. ⁸ And Jesus answering him said, It is written, Thou shalt do homage to [the] Lord thy God, and him alone shalt thou serve. ⁹ And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the edge of the temple, and said to him, If thou be Son of God, cast thyself down hence; ¹⁰ for it is written, He shall give charge to his angels concerning thee to keep thee; ¹¹ and on [their] hands shall they bear thee, lest in any wise thou strike thy foot against a stone. ¹² And Jesus answering said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt [the] Lord thy God.

¹¹ But when they bring you before the synagogues and rulers and the authorities, be not careful how or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall say; ¹² for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the hour itself what should be said.

²² And he said to his disciples, For this cause I say unto you, Be not careful for life, what ye shall eat, nor for the body, what ye shall put on.

³⁰ for all these things do the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that ye have need of these things; ³¹ but seek his kingdom, and [all] these things shall be added to you. ³² Fear not, little flock, for it has been the good pleasure of your Father to give you the kingdom.

⁴⁵ But if that bondman should say in his heart, My lord delays to come, and begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and to drink and to be drunken, ⁴⁶ the lord of that bondman shall come in a day when he does not expect it, and in an hour he knows not of, and shall cut him in two and appoint his portion with the unbelievers.

¹¹ for every one that exalts himself shall be abased, and he that abases himself shall be exalted.

¹⁴ I say unto you, This [man] went down to his house justified rather than that [other]. For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves lest possibly your hearts be laden with surfeiting and drinking and cares of life, and that day come upon you suddenly unawares;

³⁶ Watch therefore, praying at every season, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things which are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

²⁴ And there was also a strife among them which of them should be held to be [the] greatest. ²⁵ And he said to them, The kings of the nations rule over them, and they that exercise authority over them are called benefactors. ²⁶ But *ye* [shall] not [be] thus; but let the greater among you be as the younger, and the leader as he that serves. ²⁷ For which [is] greater, he that is at table or he that serves? [Is] not he that is at table? But *I* am in the midst of you as the one that serves.

³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to have you, to sift [you] as wheat; ³² but *I* have besought for thee that thy faith fail not; and *thou*, when once thou hast been restored, confirm thy brethren.

⁴⁸ And *ye* are witnesses of these things.

⁴⁴ Ye are of the devil, as [your] father, and ye desire to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks falsehood, he speaks of what is his own; for he is a liar and its father:

¹¹ I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep:

¹³ Now he who serves for wages flees because he serves for wages, and is not himself concerned about the sheep.

²⁷ I leave peace with you; I give *my* peace to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it fear.

²⁶ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes forth from with the Father, *he* shall bear witness concerning me; ²⁷ and ye too bear witness, because ye are with me from [the] beginning.

³³ These things have I spoken to you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good courage: I have overcome the world.

¹⁹ When therefore it was evening on that day, which was the first [day] of the week, and the doors shut where the disciples were, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and says to them, Peace [be] to you.

²⁶ And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus comes, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace [be] to you.

⁸ but ye will receive power, the Holy Spirit having come upon you, and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

¹⁷ But from Miletus having sent to Ephesus, he called over [to him] the elders of the assembly.

²⁴ But I make no account of [my] life [as] dear to myself, so that I finish my course, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.

²⁶ Wherefore I witness to you this day, that I am clean from the blood of all, ²⁷ for I have not shrunk from announcing to you all the counsel of God. ²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, wherein the Holy Spirit has set you as overseers, to shepherd the assembly of God, which he has purchased with the blood of his own.

⁷ Who ever carries on war at his own charges? who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? or who herds a flock and does not eat of the milk of the flock?

¹⁶ For if I announce the glad tidings, I have nothing to boast of; for a necessity is laid upon me; for it is woe to me if I should not announce the glad tidings. ¹⁷ For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if not of my own will, I am entrusted with an administration.

²⁵ But every one that contends [for a prize] is temperate in all things: *they* then indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown, but *we* an incorruptible.

¹³ No temptation has taken you but such as is according to man`s nature; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able [to bear], but will with the temptation make the issue also, so that [ye] should be able to bear [it].

²² Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

¹¹ However, neither [is] woman without man, nor man without woman, in [the] Lord.

¹ But I make known to you, brethren, the glad tidings which I announced to you, which also ye received, in which also ye stand,

⁵ who shall render account to him who is ready to judge [the] living and [the] dead.
