⁴ begging of us with much entreaty [to give effect to] the grace and fellowship of the service which [was to be rendered] to the saints.

¹⁰ And Jacob said, No, I pray thee; if now I have found favour in thine eyes, then receive my gift from my hand; for therefore have I seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou hast received me with pleasure. ¹¹ Take, I pray thee, my blessing which has been brought to thee; because God has been gracious to me, and because I have everything. And he urged him, and he took [it].

¹⁵ And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came and stood before him; and he said, Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel; and now, I pray thee, take a present of thy servant. ¹⁶ But he said, As Jehovah liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none! And he urged him to take it; but he refused.

⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold [water] only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

⁵⁰ for whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in [the] heavens, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.

⁴⁰ And the King answering shall say to them, Verily, I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me.

⁴⁴ Then shall *they* also answer saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or ill, or in prison, and have not ministered to thee? ⁴⁵ Then shall he answer them saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have not done it to one of these least, neither have ye done it to me.

⁷ for ye have the poor always with you, and whenever ye would ye can do them good; but me ye have not always.

²⁶ Jesus therefore, seeing his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, says to his mother, Woman, behold thy son. ²⁷ Then he says unto the disciple, Behold thy mother. And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.

¹ But in those days, the disciples multiplying in number, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews because their widows were overlooked in the daily ministration. ² And the twelve, having called the multitude of the disciples to [them], said, It is not right that we, leaving the word of God, should serve tables. ³ Look out therefore, brethren, from among yourselves seven men, well reported of, full of [the] [Holy] Spirit and wisdom, whom we will establish over this business: ⁴ but *we* will give ourselves up to prayer and the ministry of the word. ⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and [the] Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch, ⁶ whom they set before the apostles; and, having prayed, they laid their hands on them. ⁷ And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was very greatly multiplied, and a great crowd of the priests obeyed the faith.

³⁹ And Peter rising up went with them, whom, when arrived, they brought up into the upper chamber; and all the widows stood by him weeping and shewing him the body-coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. ⁴⁰ But Peter, putting them all out, and kneeling down, prayed. And, turning to the body, he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes, and, seeing Peter, sat up. ⁴¹ And having given her [his] hand, he raised her up, and having called the saints and the widows, presented her living.

²⁹ And they determined, according as any one of the disciples was well off, each of them to send to the brethren who dwelt in Judaea, to minister [to them];

¹⁵ And when she had been baptised and her house, she besought [us], saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and abide [there]. And she constrained us.

¹⁷ And after a lapse of many years I arrived, bringing alms to my nation, and offerings.

²⁵ but now I go to Jerusalem, ministering to the saints; ²⁶ for Macedonia and Achaia have been well pleased to make a certain contribution for the poor of the saints who [are] in Jerusalem.

³¹ that I may be saved from those that do not believe in Judaea; and that my ministry which [I have] for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints;

¹ Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the assemblies of Galatia, so do *ye* do also.

³ And when I am arrived, whomsoever ye shall approve, these I will send with letters to carry your bounty to Jerusalem: ⁴ and if it be suitable that *I* also should go, they shall go with me.

¹⁵ But I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the first-fruits of Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the saints for service,)

¹⁸ but we have sent with him the brother whose praise [is] in the glad tidings through all the assemblies; ¹⁹ and not only [so], but [is] also chosen by the assemblies as our fellow-traveller with this grace, ministered by us to the glory of the Lord himself, and [a witness of] our readiness;

¹ For concerning the ministration which [is] for the saints, it is superfluous my writing to you.

¹² Because the ministration of this service is not only filling up the measure of what is lacking to the saints, but also abounding by many thanksgivings to God; ¹³ they glorifying God through the proof of this ministration, by reason of your subjection, by profession, to the glad tidings of the Christ, and your free-hearted liberality in communicating towards them and towards all; ¹⁴ and in their supplication for you, full of ardent desire for you, on account of the exceeding grace of God [which is] upon you.

¹⁰ only that we should remember the poor, which same thing also I was diligent to do.

¹⁰ So then, as we have occasion, let us do good towards all, and specially towards those of the household of faith.

¹⁰ borne witness to in good works, if she have brought up children, if she have exercised hospitality, if she have washed saints` feet, if she have imparted relief to the distressed, if she have diligently followed every good work.

⁵ hearing of thy love and the faith which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints, ⁶ in such sort that thy participation in the faith should become operative in the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in us towards Christ [Jesus].

¹⁰ For God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work, and the love which ye have shewn to his name, having ministered to the saints, and [still] ministering.

¹⁶ Hereby we have known love, because *he* has laid down his life for us; and *we* ought for the brethren to lay down [our] lives. ¹⁷ But whoso may have the world`s substance, and see his brother having need, and shut up his bowels from him, how abides the love of God in him? ¹⁸ Children, let us not love with word, nor with tongue, but in deed and in truth.
