¹ Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by God`s will, according to promise of life, the [life] which [is] in Christ Jesus, ² to Timotheus, [my] beloved child: grace, mercy, peace, from God [the] Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord. ³ I am thankful to God, whom I serve from [my] forefathers with pure conscience, how unceasingly I have the remembrance of thee in my supplications night and day, ⁴ earnestly desiring to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; ⁵ calling to mind the unfeigned faith which [has been] in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that in thee also. ⁶ For which cause I put thee in mind to rekindle the gift of God which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. ⁷ For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, and of love, and of wise discretion. ⁸ Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but suffer evil along with the glad tidings, according to the power of God; ⁹ who has saved us, and has called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to [his] own purpose and grace, which [was] given to us in Christ Jesus before [the] ages of time, ¹⁰ but has been made manifest now by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has annulled death, and brought to light life and incorruptibility by the glad tidings; ¹¹ to which *I* have been appointed a herald and apostle and teacher of [the] nations. ¹² For which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep for that day the deposit I have entrusted to him. ¹³ Have an outline of sound words, which [words] thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which [are] in Christ Jesus. ¹⁴ Keep, by the Holy Spirit which dwells in us, the good deposit entrusted. ¹⁵ Thou knowest this, that all who [are] in Asia, of whom is Phygellus and Hermogenes, have turned away from me. ¹⁶ The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he has often refreshed me, and has not been ashamed of my chain; ¹⁷ but being in Rome sought me out very diligently, and found [me] -- ¹⁸ the Lord grant to him to find mercy from [the] Lord in that day -- and how much service he rendered in Ephesus *thou* knowest best.

²⁶ And all the women whose heart moved them in wisdom spun goats` [hair].

² And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every man that was wise-hearted, in whose heart God had put wisdom, every one whose heart moved him to come to the work to do it.

⁷ Not because ye were more in number than all the peoples, hath Jehovah been attached to you and chosen you, for ye are the fewest of all the peoples; ⁸ but because Jehovah loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath Jehovah brought you out with a powerful hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

²⁰ And he cried to Jehovah and said, Jehovah, my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

¹⁹ Remember for me, my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.

¹⁴ Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds which I have done for the house of my God, and for the charges thereof!

²² And I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to hallow the sabbath day. Remember this also for me, my God, and spare me according to thy great loving-kindness!

³¹ and for the wood-offering, at times appointed, and for the first-fruits. Remember me, O my God, for good!

¹⁰ And they that know thy name will confide in thee; for thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

¹ {A Prayer of David.} Hear the right, O Jehovah, attend unto my cry; give ear unto my prayer, which is not out of feigned lips.

²⁵ With the gracious thou dost shew thyself gracious; with the upright man thou dost shew thyself upright;

⁴⁴ At the hearing of the ear, they obey me: strangers come cringing unto me.

⁷ The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple;

¹⁰ I was cast upon thee from the womb; thou art my ?God from my mother`s belly.

² My God, I confide in thee; let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

⁵ Into thy hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, Jehovah, [thou] ?God of truth.

²⁶ all the day he is gracious and lendeth, and his seed shall be a blessing.

⁹ Then shall mine enemies return backward in the day when I call: this I know, for God is for me.

³ Say unto God, How terrible are thy works! because of the greatness of thy strength, thine enemies come cringing unto thee.

⁶ I remember my song in the night; I muse in mine own heart, and my spirit maketh diligent search.

¹⁵ The haters of Jehovah would have come cringing unto him; but their time would have been for ever.

¹⁶ Turn toward me, and be gracious unto me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.

¹⁶ Yea, Jehovah! for I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

⁴⁶ And I will speak of thy testimonies before kings, and will not be ashamed;

⁸⁰ Let my heart be perfect in thy statutes, that I be not ashamed.

⁵ They that sow in tears shall reap with rejoicing:

³ If thou, Jah, shouldest mark iniquities, Lord, who shall stand? ⁴ But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

⁷ He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [he] is a shield to them that walk in integrity;

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is he that retaineth her.

²¹ My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion:

⁴ And he taught me, and said unto me, Let thy heart retain my words; keep my commandments and live. ⁵ Get wisdom, get intelligence: forget [it] not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. ⁶ Forsake her not, and she shall keep thee; love her, and she shall preserve thee. ⁷ The beginning of wisdom [is], Get wisdom; and with all thy getting get intelligence. ⁸ Exalt her, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou dost embrace her.

¹³ Take fast hold of instruction, let [her] not go: keep her, for she is thy life.

¹⁴ Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am intelligence; I have strength.

²³ Buy the truth, and sell it not; wisdom, and instruction, and intelligence.

²⁰ To the law and the testimony! If they speak not according to this word, for them there is no daybreak.

² Behold, ?God is my salvation: I will trust, and not be afraid; for Jah, Jehovah, is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation.

²⁶ This is the counsel which is purposed concerning the whole earth; and this is the hand which is stretched out upon all the nations. ²⁷ For Jehovah of hosts hath purposed, and who shall frustrate [it]? And his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

⁷ And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the veil which veileth all the peoples, and the covering that is spread over all the nations. ⁸ He will swallow up death in victory. And the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for Jehovah hath spoken.

³ For I [am] Jehovah thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

²⁶ Put me in remembrance, let us plead together; rehearse thine own [cause], that thou mayest be justified.

¹⁵ Verily thou art a ?God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour. ...

²¹ Declare and bring [them] near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath caused this to be heard from ancient time? [who] hath declared it long ago? Is it not I, Jehovah? And there is no God else beside me; a just ?God and a Saviour, there is none besides me.

⁷ But the Lord Jehovah will help me: therefore shall I not be confounded; therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

⁷ Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear not the reproach of men, and be not afraid of their revilings.

⁴ Fear not, for thou shalt not be ashamed; neither be thou confounded, for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.

² For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but Jehovah will arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen on thee. ³ And the nations shall walk by thy light, and kings by the brightness of thy rising.

³ to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, that beauty should be given unto them instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness: that they might be called terebinths of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.

¹⁰ And even for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not returned unto me with her whole heart, but with falsehood, saith Jehovah.

¹³ Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into gladness, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice after their sorrow.

¹⁴ I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death: where, O death, are thy plagues? where, O Sheol, is thy destruction? Repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

⁸ But truly I am filled with power by the Spirit of Jehovah, and with judgment and with might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

⁷ Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

⁶ And he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of Jehovah unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith Jehovah of hosts.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for *he* shall save his people from their sins.

⁷ Blessed the merciful, for *they* shall find mercy.

²² Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power?

⁴¹ He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet`s reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man`s reward. ⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold [water] only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

²⁵ At that time, Jesus answering said, I praise thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes. ²⁶ Yea, Father, for thus has it been well-pleasing in thy sight.

²¹ and on his name shall [the] nations hope.

³⁶ But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of the heavens, but [my] Father alone.

¹⁵ And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to each according to his particular ability, and immediately went away out of the country. ¹⁶ And he that had received the five talents went and trafficked with them, and made five other talents. ¹⁷ In like manner also he that [had received] the two, [he also] gained two others. ¹⁸ But he that had received the one went and dug in the earth, and hid the money of his lord. ¹⁹ And after a long time the lord of those bondmen comes and reckons with them. ²⁰ And he that had received the five talents came to [him] and brought five other talents, saying, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me five talents; behold, I have gained five other talents besides them. ²¹ His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter into the joy of thy lord. ²² And he also that had received the two talents came to [him] and said, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents besides them. ²³ His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ²⁴ And he also that had received the one talent coming to [him] said, [My] lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hadst not sowed, and gathering from where thou hadst not scattered, ²⁵ and being afraid I went away and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast that which is thine. ²⁶ And his lord answering said to him, Wicked and slothful bondman, thou knewest that I reap where I had not sowed, and gather from where I had not scattered; ²⁷ thou oughtest then to have put my money to the money-changers, and when I came I should have got what is mine with interest. ²⁸ Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents: ²⁹ for to every one that has shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but from him that has not, that even which he has shall be taken from him. ³⁰ And cast out the useless bondman into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

³⁴ Then shall the King say to those on his right hand, Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from [the] world`s foundation: ³⁵ for I hungered, and ye gave me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; ³⁶ naked, and ye clothed me; I was ill, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, and nourished thee; or thirsting, and gave thee to drink? ³⁸ and when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in; or naked, and clothed thee? ³⁹ and when saw we thee ill, or in prison, and came to thee? ⁴⁰ And the King answering shall say to them, Verily, I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me.

³⁸ For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him shall the Son of man also be ashamed when he shall come in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

⁷² to fulfil mercy with our fathers and remember his holy covenant,

⁷⁸ on account of [the] bowels of mercy of our God; wherein [the] dayspring from on high has visited us,

¹¹ for to-day a Saviour has been born to you in David`s city, who is Christ [the] Lord.

³¹ which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples; ³² a light for revelation of [the] Gentiles and [the] glory of thy people Israel.

³⁷ and herself a widow up to eighty-four years; who did not depart from the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers;

³ and Joanna, wife of Chuza, Herod`s steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to him of their substance.

³⁵ And they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, clothed and sensible, at the feet of Jesus. And they were afraid.

²⁶ For whosoever shall have been ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed when he shall come in his glory, and [in that] of the Father, and of the holy angels.

¹² I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for Sodom in that day than for that city.

¹⁹ Behold, I give you the power of treading upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall in anywise injure you.

²¹ In the same hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit and said, I praise thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that thou hast hid these things from wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes: yea, Father, for thus has it been well-pleasing in thy sight.

³⁶ If therefore thy whole body [is] light, not having any part dark, it shall be all light as when the lamp lights thee with its brightness.

⁷ And he said to the vinedresser, Behold, [these] three years I come seeking fruit on this fig-tree and find none: cut it down; why does it also render the ground useless?

¹⁷ And coming to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father`s have abundance of bread, and *I* perish here by famine.

¹¹ If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who shall entrust to you the true?

¹³ And having called his own ten bondmen, he gave to them ten minas, and said to them, Trade while I am coming.

⁴⁶ And Jesus, having cried with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit. And having said this, he expired.

⁴⁹ And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but do ye remain in the city till ye be clothed with power from on high.

⁹ The true light was that which, coming into the world, lightens every man.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and says of him, Behold [one] truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile.

⁴² and they said to the woman, [It is] no longer on account of thy saying that we believe, for we have heard him ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.

Holy Father, keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one as we. ¹² When I was with them I kept them in thy name; those thou hast given me I have guarded, and not one of them has perished, but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁵ I do not demand that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them out of evil.

²⁴ Father, [as to] those whom thou hast given me, I desire that where I am they also may be with me, that they may behold my glory which thou hast given me, for thou lovedst me before [the] foundation of [the] world.

³⁵ And he who saw it bears witness, and his witness is true, and he knows that he says true that ye also may believe.

³¹ but these are written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life in his name.

⁴⁶ And Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly and said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but, since ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the nations;

⁵⁰ But the Jews excited the women of the upper classes who were worshippers, and the first people of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out of their coasts.

⁵ And when an assault was making, both of [those of] the nations and [the] Jews with their rulers, to use [them] ill and stone them, ⁶ they, being aware of it, fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding country,

¹⁸ known from eternity.

¹ And he came to Derbe and Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, by name Timotheus, son of a Jewish believing woman, but [the] father a Greek,

⁶ And having passed through Phrygia and the Galatian country, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia,

¹ And it came to pass, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper districts, came to Ephesus, and finding certain disciples,

⁶ And Paul having laid [his] hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

¹⁰ And this took place for two years, so that all that inhabited Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

²⁷ Now not only there is danger for us that our business come into discredit, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis be counted for nothing, and that her greatness should be destroyed whom the whole of Asia and the world reveres.

³¹ and some of the Asiarchs also, who were his friends, sent to him and urged him not to throw himself into the theatre.

¹⁶ for Paul thought it desirable to sail by Ephesus, so that he might not be made to spend time in Asia; for he hastened, if it was possible for him, to be the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all lowliness, and tears, and temptations, which happened to me through the plots of the Jews;

²⁴ But I make no account of [my] life [as] dear to myself, so that I finish my course, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.

³¹ Wherefore watch, remembering that for three years, night and day, I ceased not admonishing each one [of you] with tears.

³⁷ And they all wept sore; and falling upon the neck of Paul they ardently kissed him, ³⁸ specially pained by the word which he had said, that they would no more see his face. And they went down with him to the ship.

¹³ But Paul answered, What do ye, weeping and breaking my heart? for *I* am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

²⁷ And when the seven days were nearly completed, the Jews from Asia, having seen him in the temple, set all the crowd in a tumult, and laid hands upon him, ²⁸ crying, Israelites, help! this is the man who teaches all everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place, and has brought Greeks too into the temple, and profaned this holy place. ²⁹ For they had before seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple. ³⁰ And the whole city was moved, and there was a concourse of the people; and having laid hold on Paul they drew him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut. ³¹ And as they were seeking to kill him, a representation came to the chiliarch of the band that the whole of Jerusalem was in a tumult;

³ *I* am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel, educated according to [the] exactness of the law of [our] fathers, being zealous for God, as *ye* are all this day;

²¹ And he said to me, Go, for *I* will send thee to the nations afar off. ²² And they heard him until this word, and lifted up their voice, saying, Away with such a one as that from the earth, for it was not fit he should live. ²³ And as they were crying, and throwing away their clothes, and casting dust into the air, ²⁴ the chiliarch commanded him to be brought into the fortress, saying that he should be examined by scourging, that he might ascertain for what cause they cried thus against him.

¹ And Paul, fixing his eyes on the council, said, Brethren, I have walked in all good conscience with God unto this day.

¹⁴ But this I avow to thee, that in the way which they call sect, so I serve my fathers` God, believing all things which are written throughout the law, and in the prophets;

¹⁶ For this cause I also exercise [myself] to have in everything a conscience without offence towards God and men.

⁴ My manner of life then from my youth, which from its commencement was passed among my nation in Jerusalem, know all the Jews,

¹¹ And often punishing them in all the synagogues, I compelled them to blaspheme. And, being exceedingly furious against them, I persecuted them even to cities out [of our own land].

²⁵ But Paul said, I am not mad, most excellent Festus, but utter words of truth and soberness; ²⁶ for the king is informed about these things, to whom also I speak with all freedom. For I am persuaded that of these things nothing is hidden from him; for this was not done in a corner.

²³ For an angel of the God, whose I am and whom I serve, stood by me this night,

²⁰ For this cause therefore I have called you to [me] to see and to speak to you; for on account of the hope of Israel I have this chain about me.

³⁰ And he remained two whole years in his own hired lodging, and received all who came to him, ³¹ preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, with all freedom unhinderedly.

¹ Paul, bondman of Jesus Christ, [a] called apostle, separated to God`s glad tidings,

⁷ to all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and [our] Lord Jesus Christ. ⁸ First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is proclaimed in the whole world. ⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the glad tidings of his Son, how unceasingly I make mention of you,

¹¹ For I greatly desire to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to establish you;

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the glad tidings; for it is God`s power to salvation, to every one that believes, both to Jew first and to Greek:

⁷ to them who, in patient continuance of good works, seek for glory and honour and incorruptibility, life eternal.

²⁰ an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law:

² Much every way: and first, indeed, that to them were entrusted the oracles of God.

²⁰ Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law [is] knowledge of sin.

²³ for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption which [is] in Christ Jesus;

³¹ Do we then make void law by faith? Far be the thought: [no,] but we establish law.

²¹ and being fully persuaded that what he has promised he is able also to do;

⁴ and endurance, experience; and experience, hope; ⁵ and hope does not make ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by [the] Holy Spirit which has been given to us:

²¹ in order that, even as sin has reigned in [the power of] death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be annulled, that we should no longer serve sin.

¹⁷ But thanks [be] to God, that ye were bondmen of sin, but have obeyed from the heart the form of teaching into which ye were instructed.

²³ For the wages of sin [is] death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

⁹ But *ye* are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed God`s Spirit dwell in you; but if any one has not [the] Spirit of Christ *he* is not of him:

¹¹ But if the Spirit of him that has raised up Jesus from among [the] dead dwell in you, he that has raised up Christ from among [the] dead shall quicken your mortal bodies also on account of his Spirit which dwells in you.

¹³ for if ye live according to flesh, ye are about to die; but if, by the Spirit, ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live:

¹⁵ For ye have not received a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye have received a spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

¹⁷ And if children, heirs also: heirs of God, and Christ`s joint heirs; if indeed we suffer with [him], that we may also be glorified with [him]. ¹⁸ For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy [to be compared] with the coming glory to be revealed to us.

²⁸ But we *do* know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to purpose. ²⁹ Because whom he has foreknown, he has also predestinated [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, so that he should be [the] firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ But whom he has predestinated, these also he has called; and whom he has called, these also he has justified; but whom he has justified, these also he has glorified. ³¹ What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who against us? ³² He who, yea, has not spared his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him grant us all things? ³³ Who shall bring an accusation against God`s elect? [It is] God who justifies: ³⁴ who is he that condemns? [It is] Christ who has died, but rather has been [also] raised up; who is also at the right hand of God; who also intercedes for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? tribulation or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ According as it is written, For thy sake we are put to death all the day long; we have been reckoned as sheep for slaughter.

¹ I say [the] truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in [the] Holy Spirit,

¹¹ [the children] indeed being not yet born, or having done anything good or worthless (that the purpose of God according to election might abide, not of works, but of him that calls),

¹⁵ For he says to Moses, I will shew mercy to whom I will shew mercy, and I will feel compassion for whom I will feel compassion. ¹⁶ So then [it is] not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shews mercy. ¹⁷ For the scripture says to Pharaoh, For this very thing I have raised thee up from amongst [men], that I might thus shew in thee my power, and so that my name should be declared in all the earth. ¹⁸ So then, to whom he will he shews mercy, and whom he will he hardens. ¹⁹ Thou wilt say to me then, Why does he yet find fault? for who resists his purpose? ²⁰ Aye, but thou, O man, who art *thou* that answerest again to God? Shall the thing formed say to him that has formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? ²¹ Or has not the potter authority over the clay, out of the same lump to make one vessel to honour, and another to dishonour? ²² And if God, minded to shew his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much long-suffering vessels of wrath fitted for destruction; ²³ and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared for glory, ²⁴ us, whom he has also called, not only from amongst [the] Jews, but also from amongst [the] nations?

³³ according as it is written, Behold, I place in Zion a stone of stumbling and rock of offence: and he that believes on him shall not be ashamed.

⁵ Thus, then, in the present time also there has been a remnant according to election of grace. ⁶ But if by grace, no longer of works: since [otherwise] grace is no more grace.

⁶ But having different gifts, according to the grace which has been given to us, whether [it be] prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith; ⁷ or service, [let us occupy ourselves] in service; or he that teaches, in teaching; ⁸ or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, in simplicity; he that leads, with diligence; he that shews mercy, with cheerfulness.

¹⁹ not avenging yourselves, beloved, but give place to wrath; for it is written, Vengeance [belongs] to me, *I* will recompense, saith the Lord.

⁵ One man esteems day more than day; another esteems every day [alike]. Let each be fully persuaded in his own mind.

¹⁴ I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; except to him who reckons anything to be unclean, to that man [it is] unclean.

¹² And again, Esaias says, There shall be the root of Jesse, and one that arises, to rule over [the] nations: in him shall [the] nations hope. ¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that ye should abound in hope by [the] power of [the] Holy Spirit. ¹⁴ But I am persuaded, my brethren, I myself also, concerning you, that yourselves also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

³⁰ But I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in prayers for me to God; ³¹ that I may be saved from those that do not believe in Judaea; and that my ministry which [I have] for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints; ³² in order that I may come to you in joy by God`s will, and that I may be refreshed with you.

²⁵ Now to him that is able to establish you, according to my glad tidings and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to [the] revelation of [the] mystery, as to which silence has been kept in [the] times of the ages, ²⁶ but [which] has now been made manifest, and by prophetic scriptures, according to commandment of the eternal God, made known for obedience of faith to all the nations --

¹ Paul, [a] called apostle of Jesus Christ, by God`s will, and Sosthenes the brother,

⁶ (according as the testimony of the Christ has been confirmed in you,)

¹⁸ For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but to us that are saved it is God`s power.

⁴ and my word and my preaching, not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of [the] Spirit and of power;

¹³ the work of each shall be made manifest; for the day shall declare [it], because it is revealed in fire; and the fire shall try the work of each what it is.

¹⁶ Do ye not know that ye are [the] temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwells in you?

²¹ So that let no one boast in men; for all things are yours. ²² Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or [the] world, or life, or death, or things present, or things coming, all are yours;

⁵ So that do not judge anything before [the] time, until the Lord shall come, who shall also both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and shall make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then shall each have [his] praise from God.

⁹ For I think that God has set us the apostles for the last, as appointed to death. For we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and men. ¹⁰ *We* [are] fools for Christ`s sake, but *ye* prudent in Christ: *we* weak, but *ye* strong: *ye* glorious, but *we* in dishonour. ¹¹ To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are in nakedness, and buffeted, and wander without a home, ¹² and labour, working with our own hands. Railed at, we bless; persecuted, we suffer [it]; ¹³ insulted, we entreat: we are become as [the] offscouring of the world, [the] refuse of all, until now.

¹⁹ Do ye not know that your body is [the] temple of the Holy Spirit which [is] in you, which ye have of God; and ye are not your own?

¹⁷ For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if not of my own will, I am entrusted with an administration.

²⁶ [The] last enemy [that] is annulled [is] death.

⁵³ For this corruptible must needs put on incorruptibility, and this mortal put on immortality. ⁵⁴ But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruptibility, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the word written: Death has been swallowed up in victory. ⁵⁵ Where, O death, [is] thy sting? where, O death, thy victory?

⁸ But I remain in Ephesus until Pentecost.

¹⁸ For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: own therefore such. ¹⁹ The assemblies of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla, with the assembly in their house, salute you much in [the] Lord.

¹ Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by God`s will, and the brother Timotheus, to the assembly of God which is in Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia.

¹² For our boasting is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and sincerity before God, (not in fleshly wisdom but in God`s grace,) we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly towards you.

²⁰ For whatever promises of God [there are], in him is the yea, and in him the amen, for glory to God by us.

⁴ For indeed we who are in the tabernacle groan, being burdened; while yet we do not wish to be unclothed, but clothed, that [what is] mortal may be swallowed up by life.

¹³ For whether we are beside ourselves, [it is] to God; or are sober, [it is] for you. ¹⁴ For the love of the Christ constrains us, having judged this: that one died for all, then all have died;

¹⁶ So that *we* henceforth know no one according to flesh; but if even we have known Christ according to flesh, yet now we know [him thus] no longer.

¹⁹ how that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their offences; and putting in us the word of that reconciliation. ²⁰ We are ambassadors therefore for Christ, God as [it were] beseeching by us, we entreat for Christ, Be reconciled to God.

⁶ in pureness, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in kindness, in [the] Holy Spirit, in love unfeigned, ⁷ in [the] word of truth, in [the] power of God; through the arms of righteousness on the right hand and left,

¹ For concerning the ministration which [is] for the saints, it is superfluous my writing to you.

¹² Because the ministration of this service is not only filling up the measure of what is lacking to the saints, but also abounding by many thanksgivings to God; ¹³ they glorifying God through the proof of this ministration, by reason of your subjection, by profession, to the glad tidings of the Christ, and your free-hearted liberality in communicating towards them and towards all; ¹⁴ and in their supplication for you, full of ardent desire for you, on account of the exceeding grace of God [which is] upon you.

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as being beside myself) *I* above measure [so]; in labours exceedingly abundant, in stripes to excess, in prisons exceedingly abundant, in deaths oft. ²⁴ From the Jews five times have I received forty [stripes], save one. ²⁵ Thrice have I been scourged, once I have been stoned, three times I have suffered shipwreck, a night and day I passed in the deep: ²⁶ in journeyings often, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers, in perils from [my own] race, in perils from [the] nations, in perils in [the] city, in perils in [the] desert, in perils on [the] sea, in perils among false brethren; ²⁷ in labour and toil, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

⁹ And he said to me, My grace suffices thee; for [my] power is perfected in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the power of the Christ may dwell upon me. ¹⁰ Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in necessities, in persecutions, in straits, for Christ: for when I am weak, then I am powerful.

¹⁴ and advanced in Judaism beyond many [my] contemporaries in my nation, being exceedingly zealous of the doctrines of my fathers.

⁷ but, on the contrary, seeing that the glad tidings of the uncircumcision were confided to me, even as to Peter that of the circumcision,

⁴ Ye are deprived of all profit from the Christ as separated [from him], as many as are justified by law; ye have fallen from grace.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, fidelity,

³ Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ; ⁴ according as he has chosen us in him before [the] world`s foundation, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love;

⁹ having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in himself

¹¹ in whom we have also obtained an inheritance, being marked out beforehand according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his own will, ¹² that we should be to [the] praise of his glory who have pre-trusted in the Christ: ¹³ in whom *ye* also [have trusted], having heard the word of the truth, the glad tidings of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ye have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

¹⁶ do not cease giving thanks for you, making mention [of you] at my prayers,

¹⁸ being enlightened in the eyes of your heart, so that ye should know what is the hope of his calling, [and] what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

⁴ but God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love wherewith he loved us, ⁵ (we too being dead in offences,) has quickened us with the Christ, (ye are saved by grace,)

⁸ For ye are saved by grace, through faith; and this not of yourselves; it is God`s gift: ⁹ not on the principle of works, that no one might boast.

¹ For this reason *I* Paul, prisoner of the Christ Jesus for you nations, ² (if indeed ye have heard of the administration of the grace of God which has been given to me towards you, ³ that by revelation the mystery has been made known to me, (according as I have written before briefly, ⁴ by which, in reading it, ye can understand my intelligence in the mystery of the Christ,) ⁵ which in other generations has not been made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in [the power of the] Spirit, ⁶ that [they who are of] the nations should be joint heirs, and a joint body, and joint partakers of [his] promise in Christ Jesus by the glad tidings;

⁶ that [they who are of] the nations should be joint heirs, and a joint body, and joint partakers of [his] promise in Christ Jesus by the glad tidings; ⁷ of which I am become minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me, according to the working of his power. ⁸ To me, less than the least of all saints, has this grace been given, to announce among the nations the glad tidings of the unsearchable riches of the Christ,

¹¹ according to [the] purpose of the ages, which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord,

¹³ Wherefore I beseech [you] not to faint through my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

¹ *I*, the prisoner in [the] Lord, exhort you therefore to walk worthy of the calling wherewith ye have been called,

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in [the] Lord, that ye should no longer walk as [the rest of] the nations walk in [the] vanity of their mind,

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,

²⁰ for which I am an ambassador [bound] with a chain, that I may be bold in it as I ought to speak.

⁷ as it is righteous for me to think this as to you all, because ye have *me* in your hearts, and that both in my bonds and in the defence and confirmation of the glad tidings ye are all participators in my grace. ⁸ For God is my witness how I long after you all in [the] bowels of Christ Jesus.

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but in all boldness, as always, now also Christ shall be magnified in my body whether by life or by death.

²⁷ Only conduct yourselves worthily of the glad tidings of the Christ, in order that whether coming and seeing you, or absent, I may hear of what concerns you, that ye stand firm in one spirit, with one soul, labouring together in the same conflict with the faith of the glad tidings;

²¹ For all seek their own things, not the things of Jesus Christ.

²⁶ since he had a longing desire after you all, and was distressed because ye had heard that he was sick;

⁸ But surely I count also all things to be loss on account of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, on account of whom I have suffered the loss of all, and count them to be filth, that I may gain Christ;

¹⁰ to know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death,

²¹ who shall transform our body of humiliation into conformity to his body of glory, according to the working of [the] power which he has even to subdue all things to himself.

¹ So that, my brethren, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, thus stand fast in [the] Lord, beloved.

⁹ What ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these things do; and the God of peace shall be with you.

¹³ I have strength for all things in him that gives me power.

⁴ having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and the love which ye have towards all the saints,

⁸ who has also manifested to us your love in [the] Spirit.

¹¹ strengthened with all power according to the might of his glory unto all endurance and longsuffering with joy;

²⁴ Now, I rejoice in sufferings for you, and I fill up that which is behind of the tribulations of Christ in my flesh, for his body, which is the assembly;

²⁶ the mystery which [has been] hidden from ages and from generations, but has now been made manifest to his saints; ²⁷ to whom God would make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the nations, which is Christ in you the hope of glory:

¹¹ and Jesus called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These [are the] only fellow-workers for the kingdom of God who have been a consolation to me.

² We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you at our prayers, ³ remembering unceasingly your work of faith, and labour of love, and enduring constancy of hope, of our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the nations that they may be saved, that they may fill up their sins always: but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost. ¹⁷ But we, brethren, having been bereaved of you and separated for a little moment in person, not in heart, have used more abundant diligence to see your face with much desire;

¹⁹ For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting? [are] not *ye* also before our Lord Jesus at his coming?

⁴ for also, when we were with you, we told you beforehand we are about to be in tribulation, even as also it came to pass, and ye know.)

¹⁰ night and day beseeching exceedingly to the end that we may see your face, and perfect what is lacking in your faith?

⁷ For God has not called us to uncleanness, but in sanctification.

⁴ But *ye*, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief:

¹⁹ quench not the Spirit;

²¹ but prove all things, hold fast the right;

⁸ and then the lawless one shall be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus shall consume with the breath of his mouth, and shall annul by the appearing of his coming;

¹³ But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of [the] Lord, that God has chosen you from [the] beginning to salvation in sanctification of [the] Spirit and belief of [the] truth: ¹⁴ whereto he has called you by our glad tidings, to [the] obtaining of [the] glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ, according to [the] command of God our Saviour, and of Christ Jesus our hope, ² to Timotheus, [my] true child in faith: grace, mercy, peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. ³ Even as I begged thee to remain in Ephesus, [when I was] going to Macedonia, that thou mightest enjoin some not to teach other doctrines,

⁵ But the end of what is enjoined is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith;

⁷ desiring to be law-teachers, not understanding either what they say or concerning what they [so] strenuously affirm.

¹⁰ fornicators, sodomites, kidnappers, liars, perjurers; and if any other thing is opposed to sound teaching, ¹¹ according to the glad tidings of the glory of the blessed God, with which *I* have been entrusted.

¹⁴ But the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded with faith and love, which [is] in Christ Jesus.

¹⁹ maintaining faith and a good conscience; which [last] some, having put away, have made shipwreck as to faith;

⁶ who gave himself a ransom for all, the testimony [to be rendered] in its own times; ⁷ to which *I* have been appointed a herald and apostle, (I speak [the] truth, I do not lie,) a teacher of [the] nations in faith and truth.

⁶ Laying these things before the brethren, thou wilt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished with the words of the faith and of the good teaching which thou hast fully followed up.

¹⁴ Be not negligent of the gift [that is] in thee, which has been given to thee through prophecy, with imposition of the hands of the elderhood.

³ If any one teach differently, and do not accede to sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the teaching which [is] according to piety,

¹⁹ laying by for themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may lay hold of [what is] really life. ²⁰ O Timotheus, keep the entrusted deposit, avoiding profane, vain babblings, and oppositions of false-named knowledge,

¹ Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by God`s will, according to promise of life, the [life] which [is] in Christ Jesus,

⁵ calling to mind the unfeigned faith which [has been] in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that in thee also.

⁸ Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but suffer evil along with the glad tidings, according to the power of God;

¹² For which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep for that day the deposit I have entrusted to him.

¹⁴ Keep, by the Holy Spirit which dwells in us, the good deposit entrusted.

¹⁶ The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he has often refreshed me, and has not been ashamed of my chain;

¹⁸ the Lord grant to him to find mercy from [the] Lord in that day -- and how much service he rendered in Ephesus *thou* knowest best.

¹ Thou therefore, my child, be strong in the grace which [is] in Christ Jesus. ² And the things thou hast heard of me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, such as shall be competent to instruct others also. ³ Take thy share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

⁹ in which I suffer even unto bonds as an evil-doer: but the word of God is not bound.

¹¹ The word [is] faithful; for if we have died together with [him], we shall also live together; ¹² if we endure, we shall also reign together; if we deny, *he* also will deny us;
