⁵ which in other generations has not been made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in [the power of the] Spirit,

¹⁷ for verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous [men] have desired to see the things which ye behold and did not see [them], and to hear the things which ye hear and did not hear [them].

³⁴ Therefore, behold, *I* send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and [some] of them ye will kill and crucify, and [some] of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city;

²⁶ And it was divinely communicated to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he should see [the] Lord`s Christ. ²⁷ And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and as the parents brought in the child Jesus that they might do for him according to the custom of the law,

²⁴ For I say to you that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things which ye behold, and did not see [them]; and to hear the things which ye hear, and did not hear [them].

⁴⁹ For this reason also the wisdom of God has said, I will send to them prophets and apostles, and of these shall they kill and drive out by persecution,

²⁶ but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, *he* shall teach you all things, and will bring to your remembrance all the things which I have said to you.

¹³ But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming.

¹⁹ But as Peter continued pondering over the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek thee; ²⁰ but rise up, go down, and go with them, nothing doubting, because *I* have sent them.

²⁸ And he said to them, *Ye* know how it is unlawful for a Jew to be joined or come to one of a strange race, and to *me* God has shewn to call no man common or unclean.

²⁵ Now to him that is able to establish you, according to my glad tidings and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to [the] revelation of [the] mystery, as to which silence has been kept in [the] times of the ages,

⁸ For to one, by the Spirit, is given [the] word of wisdom; and to another [the] word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; ⁹ and to a different one faith, in [the power of] the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healing in [the power of] the same Spirit; ¹⁰ and to another operations of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; and to a different one kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues.

²⁸ And God has set certain in the assembly: first, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers; then miraculous powers; then gifts of healings; helps; governments; kinds of tongues. ²⁹ [Are] all apostles? [are] all prophets? [are] all teachers? [are] all [in possession of] miraculous powers?

²⁰ being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the corner-stone,

⁹ and to enlighten all [with the knowledge of] what is the administration of the mystery hidden throughout the ages in God, who has created all things,

¹¹ and *he* has given some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers, ¹² for the perfecting of the saints; with a view to [the] work of [the] ministry, with a view to the edifying of the body of Christ;

¹⁰ but has been made manifest now by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has annulled death, and brought to light life and incorruptibility by the glad tidings; ¹¹ to which *I* have been appointed a herald and apostle and teacher of [the] nations.

¹ Paul, bondman of God, and apostle of Jesus Christ according to [the] faith of God`s elect, and knowledge of [the] truth which [is] according to piety; ² in [the] hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, ³ but has manifested in its own due season his word, in [the] proclamation with which *I* have been entrusted, according to [the] commandment of our Saviour God;

³⁹ And these all, having obtained witness through faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰ God having foreseen some better thing for us, that they should not be made perfect without us.

¹⁰ Concerning which salvation prophets, who have prophesied of the grace towards you, sought out and searched out; ¹¹ searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which [was] in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which [belonged] to Christ, and the glories after these. ¹² To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by [the] Holy Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.

² to be mindful of the words spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Saviour by your apostles;

¹⁷ But *ye*, beloved, remember the words spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
