¹ These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended. ² They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God; ³ and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me. ⁴ But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you. ⁵ But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou? ⁶ But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. ⁷ But I say the truth to you, It is profitable for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you. ⁸ And having come, he will bring demonstration to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: ⁹ of sin, because they do not believe on me; ¹⁰ of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer; ¹¹ of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. ¹² I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now. ¹³ But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming. ¹⁴ He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you. ¹⁵ All things that the Father has are mine; on account of this I have said that he receives of mine and shall announce [it] to you. ¹⁶ A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, [because I go away to the Father]. ¹⁷ [Some] of his disciples therefore said to one another, What is this he says to us, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away to the Father? ¹⁸ They said therefore, What is this which he says [of] the little while? We do not know [of] what he speaks. ¹⁹ Jesus knew therefore that they desired to demand of him, and said to them, Do ye inquire of this among yourselves that I said, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me? ²⁰ Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, ye, but the world shall rejoice; and ye will be grieved, but your grief shall be turned to joy. ²¹ A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have grief; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you. ²³ And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you. ²⁴ Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. ²⁵ These things I have spoken to you in allegories; the hour is coming that I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will declare to you openly concerning the Father. ²⁶ In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will demand of the Father for you, ²⁷ for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God. ²⁸ I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father. ²⁹ His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speakest openly and utterest no allegory. ³⁰ Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast not need that any one should demand of thee. By this we believe that thou art come from God. ³¹ Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? ³² Behold, [the] hour is coming, and has come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his own, and shall leave me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, for the Father is with me. ³³ These things have I spoken to you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good courage: I have overcome the world.

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall crush thy head, and thou shalt crush his heel. ¹⁶ To the woman he said, I will greatly increase thy travail and thy pregnancy; with pain thou shalt bear children; and to thy husband shall be thy desire, and he shall rule over thee.

⁶ And Sarah said, God has made me laugh: all that hear will laugh with me. ⁷ And she said, Who would have said to Abraham, Sarah will suckle children? For I have borne [him] a son in his old age.

²³ And she conceived, and bore a son, and said, God has taken away my reproach. ²⁴ And she called his name Joseph; and said, Jehovah will add to me another son.

⁹ And Jacob said, God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, Jehovah, who saidst unto me: Return into thy country and to thy kindred, and I will do thee good,

²⁶ And she said, Oh my lord, [as] thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here to pray to Jehovah. ²⁷ For this boy I prayed; and Jehovah has granted me my petition which I asked of him.

⁵¹ And David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of its sheath, and killed him completely, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they fled. ⁵² And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou comest to the ravine and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down on the way to Shaaraim, even to Gath, and to Ekron.

³⁶ And it came to pass at [the time of] the offering up of the oblation, that Elijah the prophet drew near, and said, Jehovah, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things by thy word.

¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah and said, Jehovah, God of Israel, who sittest [between] the cherubim, thou, the Same, thou alone art the God of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made the heavens and the earth.

⁵ The exultation of the wicked is short, and the joy of the ungodly man but for a moment?

²⁹ When he giveth quietness, who then will disturb? and when he hideth [his] face, who shall behold him? and this towards a nation, or towards a man alike;

⁵ For a moment [is passed] in his anger, a life in his favour; at even weeping cometh for the night, and at morn there is rejoicing.

¹¹ Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

¹ {To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm.} I waited patiently for Jehovah; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. ² And he brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock; he hath established my goings: ³ And he hath put a new song in my mouth, praise unto our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall confide in Jehovah.

⁴ I will incline mine ear to a parable, I will open my riddle upon the harp.

¹⁸ Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts in Man, and even [for] the rebellious, for the dwelling [there] of Jah Elohim.

² I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter riddles from of old,

⁸ I will hear what ?God, Jehovah, will speak; for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his godly ones: but let them not turn again to folly. ⁹ Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. ¹⁰ Loving-kindness and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other: ¹¹ Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from the heavens.

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

⁹ He maketh the barren woman to keep house, [as] a joyful mother of sons. Hallelujah!

⁵ They that sow in tears shall reap with rejoicing: ⁶ He goeth forth and weepeth, bearing seed for scattering; he cometh again with rejoicing, bearing his sheaves.

¹ {To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known [me]. ² *Thou* knowest my down-sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off; ³ Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways; ⁴ For there is not yet a word on my tongue, [but] lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.

² As long as I live will I praise Jehovah; I will sing psalms unto my God while I have my being.

⁶ to understand a proverb and an allegory, the words of the wise and their enigmas.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty ?God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with judgment and with righteousness, from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

¹ And in that day thou shalt say, Jehovah, I will praise thee; for though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou hast comforted me. ² Behold, ?God is my salvation: I will trust, and not be afraid; for Jah, Jehovah, is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation. ³ And with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. ⁴ And in that day shall ye say, Give ye thanks to Jehovah, call upon his name, declare his deeds among the peoples, make mention that his name is exalted.

⁸ and they shall be terrified: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them, they shall writhe as a woman that travaileth; they shall be amazed one at another, their faces shall be as flames.

⁸ He will swallow up death in victory. And the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for Jehovah hath spoken. ⁹ And it shall be said in that day, Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is Jehovah, we have waited for him; we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

¹⁶ Jehovah, in trouble they sought thee; they poured out [their] whispered prayer when thy chastening was upon them. ¹⁷ As a woman with child, that draweth near her delivery, is in travail, [and] crieth out in her pangs; so have we been before thee, Jehovah. ¹⁸ We have been with child, we have been in travail, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought the deliverance of the land, neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

²² Let them bring them forward, and declare to us what shall happen: shew the former things, what they are, that we may give attention to them, and know the end of them; -- or let us hear things to come: ²³ declare the things that are to happen hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods; yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be astonished, and behold it together.

²¹ Jehovah had delight [in him] for his righteousness` sake: he hath magnified the law, and made it honourable.

²⁴ Only in Jehovah, shall one say, have I righteousness and strength. To him shall [men] come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. ²⁵ In Jehovah shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

²⁴ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty? and shall he that is rightfully captive be delivered? ²⁵ For thus saith Jehovah: Even the captive of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; and I will strive with him that striveth with thee, and I will save thy children. ²⁶ And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with new wine. And all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, [am] thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

⁶ I gave my back to smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting. ⁷ But the Lord Jehovah will help me: therefore shall I not be confounded; therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. ⁸ He is near that justifieth me: who will contend with me? let us stand together; who is mine adverse party? let him draw near unto me. ⁹ Behold, the Lord Jehovah will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? Behold, they all shall grow old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

¹¹ So the ransomed of Jehovah shall return, and come to Zion with singing; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy; sorrow and sighing shall flee away. ¹² I, [even] I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou fearest a man that shall die, and the son of man that shall become as grass;

⁷ For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. ⁸ In the outpouring of wrath have I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting loving-kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer.

³ to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, that beauty should be given unto them instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness: that they might be called terebinths of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.

⁵ who say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

¹³ Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, my servants shall eat, and *ye* shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, and *ye* shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, and *ye* shall be ashamed; ¹⁴ behold, my servants shall sing aloud for gladness of heart, and *ye* shall cry out for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

¹⁸ But be glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create. For behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. ¹⁹ And I will rejoice over Jerusalem, and will joy in my people; and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

²⁴ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

⁵ Hear the word of Jehovah, ye that tremble at his word: Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name`s sake, said, Let Jehovah be glorified, and let us see your joy! but they shall be ashamed.

⁹ Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith Jehovah; I who cause to bring forth, shall I shut [the womb]? saith thy God. ¹⁰ Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all ye that love her; rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn over her: ¹¹ because ye shall suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; because ye shall drink out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. ¹² For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing torrent; and ye shall suck, ye shall be carried upon the side, and be dandled upon the knees. ¹³ As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And ye shall see [this], and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like the grass; and the hand of Jehovah shall be known toward his servants, and he will have indignation toward his enemies.

⁵ Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, when I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, who shall reign as king, and act wisely, and shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell in safety; and this is his name whereby he shall be called, Jehovah our Righteousness.

⁶ Ask ye now, and see, whether a male doth travail with child? Wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail; and all faces are turned into paleness? ⁷ Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob`s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

⁹ They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them; I will cause them to walk by water-brooks, in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble; for I will be a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. ¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, ye nations, and declare [it] to the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd his flock. ¹¹ For Jehovah hath ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of one stronger than he. ¹² And they shall come and sing aloud upon the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of Jehovah, for corn, and for new wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd; and their soul shall be as a watered garden, and they shall not languish any more at all. ¹³ Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into gladness, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice after their sorrow. ¹⁴ And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith Jehovah.

²⁵ For I have satiated the weary soul, and every languishing soul have I replenished.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are apportioned out upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to close the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make expiation for iniquity, and to bring in the righteousness of the ages, and to seal the vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies.

¹³ The pangs of a woman in travail shall come upon him: he is a son not wise; for at the time of the breaking forth of children, he was not there. ¹⁴ I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death: where, O death, are thy plagues? where, O Sheol, is thy destruction? Repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

²⁸ And it shall come to pass afterwards [that] I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

¹⁰ Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail; for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon: there shalt thou be delivered; there Jehovah will redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.

⁵ And this [man] shall be Peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes of men.

¹⁷ For though the fig-tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive-tree shall fail, And the fields shall yield no food; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls: ¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

¹⁷ Jehovah thy God is in thy midst, a mighty one that will save: he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love; he will exult over thee with singing.

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and of supplications; and they shall look on me whom they pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for an only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, even against the man [that is] my fellow, saith Jehovah of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered, and I will turn my hand upon the little ones.

⁴ Blessed they that mourn, for *they* shall be comforted.

⁸ Be not ye therefore like them, for your Father knows of what things ye have need before ye beg [anything] of him. ⁹ Thus therefore pray *ye*: Our Father who art in the heavens, let thy name be sanctified,

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.

⁴ And Jesus, seeing their thoughts, said, Why do *ye* think evil things in your hearts?

¹⁵ And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn so long as the bridegroom is with them? But days will come when the bridegroom will have been taken away from them, and then they will fast.

⁷ And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of the heavens has drawn nigh.

²⁸ And be not afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul; but fear rather him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother above me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me.

⁶ and blessed is whosoever shall not be offended in me.

²⁷ All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son but the Father, nor does any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom the Son may be pleased to reveal [him].

¹⁸ Behold my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul has found its delight. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall shew forth judgment to the nations.

³⁶ But I say unto you, that every idle word which men shall say, they shall render an account of it in judgment-day:

¹⁰ And the disciples came up and said to him, Why speakest thou to them in parables? ¹¹ And he answering said to them, Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but to them it is not given;

²¹ but has no root in himself, but is for a time only; and when tribulation or persecution happens on account of the word, he is immediately offended.

³⁴ All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and without a parable he did not speak to them, ³⁵ so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from [the] world`s foundation.

⁵⁷ And they were offended in him. And Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour, unless in his country and in his house.

⁹ Do ye not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand-baskets ye took [up]? ¹⁰ nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took [up]? ¹¹ How do ye not understand that [it was] not concerning bread I said to you, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?

²² And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

³⁸ But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance.

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill you; and ye will be hated of all the nations for my name`s sake. ¹⁰ And then will many be offended, and will deliver one another up, and hate one another;

³⁹ But the passers-by reviled him, shaking their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou art Son of God, descend from the cross. ⁴¹ [And] in like manner the chief priests also, mocking, with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² He saved others, himself he cannot save. He is King of Israel: let him descend now from the cross, and we will believe on him. ⁴³ He trusted upon God; let him save him now if he will [have] him. For he said, I am Son of God. ⁴⁴ And the robbers also who had been crucified with him cast the same reproaches on him.

⁶² Now on the morrow, which is after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees came together to Pilate, ⁶³ saying, Sir, we have called to mind that that deceiver said when he was still alive, After three days I arise. ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the sepulchre be secured until the third day, lest his disciples should come and steal him away, and say to the people, He is risen from the dead; and the last error shall be worse than the first. ⁶⁵ And Pilate said to them, Ye have a watch: go, secure it as well as ye know how. ⁶⁶ And they went and secured the sepulchre, having sealed the stone, with the watch [besides].

⁸ And going out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to bring his disciples word.

¹⁸ And Jesus coming up spoke to them, saying, All power has been given me in heaven and upon earth.

¹⁹ And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bride-chamber fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast.

¹³ And he says to them, Do ye not know this parable? and how will ye be acquainted with all the parables?

³³ And with many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear,

¹⁰ And they kept that saying, questioning among themselves, what rising from among [the] dead was.

³² But they understood not the saying, and feared to ask him. ³³ And he came to Capernaum, and being in the house, he asked them, Of what were ye reasoning by the way? ³⁴ And they remained silent, for by the way they had been reasoning with one another who [was] greatest.

²³ But do *ye* take heed: behold, I have told you all things beforehand.

²⁷ And Jesus says to them, All ye shall be offended, for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered abroad.

⁷² And the second time a cock crew. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus said to him, Before [the] cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice; and when he thought thereon he wept.

And they that were crucified with him reproached him.

¹⁰ *She* went and brought word to those that had been with him, [who were] grieving and weeping.

¹⁶ He that believes and is baptised shall be saved, and he that disbelieves shall be condemned.

¹⁹ The Lord therefore, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat at the right hand of God.

⁵⁷ But the time was fulfilled for Elizabeth that she should bring forth, and she gave birth to a son. ⁵⁸ And her neighbours and kinsfolk heard that [the] Lord had magnified his mercy with her, and they rejoiced with her.

¹⁴ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good pleasure in men.

²⁵ But of a truth I say to you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, so that a great famine came upon all the land,

² But we have rejected the hidden things of shame, not walking in deceit, nor falsifying the word of God, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every conscience of men before God. ³ But if also our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in those that are lost; ⁴ in whom the god of this world has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the radiancy of the glad tidings of the glory of the Christ, who is [the] image of God, should not shine forth [for them].

²⁷ and *yourselves*, the unction which ye have received from him abides in you, and ye have not need that any one should teach you; but as the same unction teaches you as to all things, and is true and is not a lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in him.

¹ See what love the Father has given to us, that we should be called [the] children of God. For this reason the world knows us not, because it knew him not.

⁸ He that practises sin is of the devil; for from [the] beginning the devil sins. To this end the Son of God has been manifested, that he might undo the works of the devil.

²³ And this is his commandment, that we believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and that we love one another, even as he has given us commandment.

⁴ *Ye* are of God, children, and have overcome them, because greater is he that [is] in you than he that [is] in the world.

⁶ *We* are of God; he that knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

⁸ He that loves not has not known God; for God is love.

¹³ Hereby we know that we abide in him and he in us, that he has given to us of his Spirit. ¹⁴ And *we* have seen, and testify, that the Father has sent the Son [as] Saviour of the world.

¹⁹ *We* love because *he* has first loved us.

⁴ For all that has been begotten of God gets the victory over the world; and this is the victory which has gotten the victory over the world, our faith.

⁶ This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus [the] Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, for the Spirit is the truth.

¹⁴ And this is the boldness which we have towards him, that if we ask him anything according to his will he hears us. ¹⁵ And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. ¹⁶ If any one see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life, for those that do not sin unto death. There is a sin to death: I do not say of that that he should make a request.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding that we should know him that [is] true; and we are in him that [is] true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

¹² Having many things to write to you, I would not with paper and ink; but hope to come to you, and to speak mouth to mouth, that our joy may be full.

¹⁵ to execute judgment against all; and to convict all the ungodly of them of all their works of ungodliness, which they have wrought ungodlily, and of all the hard [things] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

²⁰ But *ye*, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, ²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God, awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

²⁴ But to him that is able to keep you without stumbling, and to set [you] with exultation blameless before his glory,

¹ Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, to shew to his bondmen what must shortly take place; and he signified [it], sending by his angel, to his bondman John,

⁷ Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they which have pierced him, and all the tribes of the land shall wail because of him. Yea. Amen.

¹⁹ Write therefore what thou hast seen, and the things that are, and the things that are about to be after these.

²³ and her children will I kill with death; and all the assemblies shall know that *I* am he that searches [the] reins and [the] hearts; and I will give to you each according to your works.

⁹ Behold, I make them of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews, and are not, but lie; behold, I will cause that they shall come and shall do homage before thy feet, and shall know that *I* have loved thee.

¹⁹ I rebuke and discipline as many as I love; be zealous therefore and repent.

¹ And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as a voice of thunder, Come [and see]. ² And I saw: and behold, a white horse, and he that sat upon it having a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went forth conquering and that he might conquer. ³ And when it opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, Come [and see]. ⁴ And another, a red horse, went forth; and to him that sat upon it, to him it was given to take peace from the earth, and that they should slay one another; and there was given to him a great sword. ⁵ And when it opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, Come [and see]. And I saw: and behold, a black horse, and he that sat upon it having a balance in his hand. ⁶ And I heard as a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenixes of barley for a denarius: and do not injure the oil and the wine. ⁷ And when it opened the fourth seal, I heard [the voice of] the fourth living creature saying, Come [and see]. ⁸ And I saw: and behold, a pale horse, and he that sat upon it, his name [was] Death, and hades followed with him; and authority was given to him over the fourth of the earth to slay with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and by the beasts of the earth. ⁹ And when it opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of them that had been slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held;

⁹ And when it opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of them that had been slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held; ¹⁰ and they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O sovereign Ruler, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell upon the earth? ¹¹ And there was given to them, to each one a white robe; and it was said to them that they should rest yet a little while, until both their fellow-bondmen and their brethren, who were about to be killed as they, should be fulfilled. ¹² And I saw when it opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as hair sackcloth, and the whole moon became as blood, ¹³ and the stars of heaven fell upon the earth, as a fig tree, shaken by a great wind, casts its unseasonable figs. ¹⁴ And the heaven was removed as a book rolled up, and every mountain and island were removed out of their places. ¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great, and the chiliarchs, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman and freeman, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains; ¹⁶ and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us, and have us hidden from [the] face of him that sits upon the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; ¹⁷ because the great day of his wrath is come, and who is able to stand?

¹⁴ And I said to him, My lord, *thou* knowest. And he said to me, These are they who come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and have made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹⁰ And they that dwell upon the earth rejoice over them, and are full of delight, and shall send gifts one to another, because these, the two prophets, tormented them that dwell upon the earth.

² and being with child she cried, [being] in travail, and in pain to bring forth. ³ And another sign was seen in the heaven: and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems; ⁴ and his tail draws the third part of the stars of the heaven; and he cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bring forth, in order that when she brought forth he might devour her child. ⁵ And she brought forth a male son, who shall shepherd all the nations with an iron rod; and her child was caught up to God and to his throne.

⁷ And there was war in the heaven: Michael and his angels went to war with the dragon. And the dragon fought, and his angels; ⁸ and he prevailed not, nor was their place found any more in the heaven. ⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, the ancient serpent, he who is called Devil and Satan, he who deceives the whole habitable world, he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a great voice in the heaven saying, Now is come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ; for the accuser of our brethren has been cast out, who accused them before our God day and night: ¹¹ and *they* have overcome him by reason of the blood of the Lamb, and by reason of the word of their testimony, and have not loved their life even unto death.

⁷ So much as she has glorified herself and lived luxuriously, so much torment and grief give to her. Because she says in her heart, I sit a queen, and I am not a widow; and I shall in no wise see grief:

¹⁰ And I fell before his feet to do him homage. And he says to me, See [thou do it] not. I am thy fellow-bondman, and [the fellow-bondman] of thy brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Do homage to God. For the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.

² And he laid hold of the dragon, the ancient serpent who is [the] devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, ³ and cast him into the abyss, and shut [it] and sealed [it] over him, that he should not any more deceive the nations until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be loosed for a little time.

¹⁰ And the devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where [are] both the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for the ages of ages. ¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled, and place was not found for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is [that] of life. And the dead were judged out of the things written in the books according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead which [were] in it, and death and hades gave up the dead which [were] in them; and they were judged each according to their works: ¹⁴ and death and hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, [even] the lake of fire. ¹⁵ And if any one was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

¹ And he shewed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, going out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. ² In the midst of its street, and of the river, on this side and on that side, [the] tree of life, producing twelve fruits, in each month yielding its fruit; and the leaves of the tree for healing of the nations. ³ And no curse shall be any more; and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him, ⁴ and they shall see his face; and his name [is] on their foreheads. ⁵ And night shall not be any more, and no need of a lamp, and light of [the] sun; for [the] Lord God shall shine upon them, and they shall reign to the ages of ages. ⁶ And he said to me, These words [are] faithful and true; and [the] Lord God of the spirits of the prophets has sent his angel to shew to his bondmen the things which must soon come to pass. ⁷ And behold, I come quickly. Blessed [is] he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. ⁸ And I, John, [was] he who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to do homage before the feet of the angel who shewed me these things. ⁹ And he says to me, See [thou do it] not. I am thy fellow-bondman, and [the fellow-bondman] of thy brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Do homage to God. ¹⁰ And he says to me, Seal not the words of the prophecy of this book. The time is near. ¹¹ Let him that does unrighteously do unrighteously still; and let the filthy make himself filthy still; and let him that is righteous practise righteousness still; and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still. ¹² Behold, I come quickly, and my reward with me, to render to every one as his work shall be. ¹³ *I* [am] the Alpha and the Omega, [the] first and [the] last, the beginning and the end. ¹⁴ Blessed [are] they that wash their robes, that they may have right to the tree of life, and that they should go in by the gates into the city. ¹⁵ Without [are] the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loves and makes a lie. ¹⁶ *I* Jesus have sent mine angel to testify these things to you in the assemblies. *I* am the root and offspring of David, the bright [and] morning star. ¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come; he that will, let him take [the] water of life freely. ¹⁸ *I* testify to every one who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If any one shall add to these things, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book. ¹⁹ And if any one take from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book. ²⁰ He that testifies these things says, Yea, I come quickly. Amen; come, Lord Jesus. ²¹ The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ [be] with all the saints.
