²⁰ And it was told him [saying], Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, wishing to see thee.

⁵⁵ Is not this the son of the carpenter? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas? ⁵⁶ And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then has this [man] all these things?

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended in him.

³ His brethren therefore said to him, Remove hence and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou doest; ⁴ for no one does anything in secret and himself seeks to be [known] in public. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world: ⁵ for neither did his brethren believe on him. ⁶ Jesus therefore says to them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.

¹⁴ These gave themselves all with one accord to continual prayer, with [several] women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

⁵ have we not a right to take round a sister [as] wife, as also the other apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

¹⁹ but I saw none other of the apostles, but James the brother of the Lord.
