²² and if those days had not been cut short, no flesh had been saved; but on account of the elect those days shall be cut short.

¹³ But a tenth part shall still be therein, and it shall return and be eaten; as the terebinth and as the oak whose trunk [remaineth] after the felling: the holy seed shall be the trunk thereof.

⁸ Thus saith Jehovah: As the new wine is found in the cluster, and it is said, Destroy it not, for a blessing is in it; so will I do for my servants` sakes, that I may not destroy [them] all. ⁹ And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah a possessor of my mountains; and mine elect shall possess it, and my servants shall dwell there.

⁸ And it shall come to pass in all the land, saith Jehovah, two parts therein shall be cut off [and] die; but the third shall be left therein.

² And I will assemble all the nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity; and the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

¹⁴ For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.

²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall give great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

³¹ And he shall send his angels with a great sound of trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from [the one] extremity of [the] heavens to [the other] extremity of them.

²⁰ and if [the] Lord had not cut short those days, no flesh should have been saved; but on account of the elect whom he has chosen, he has cut short those days.

⁷ And shall not God at all avenge his elect, who cry to him day and night, and he bears long as to them?

¹¹ [the children] indeed being not yet born, or having done anything good or worthless (that the purpose of God according to election might abide, not of works, but of him that calls),

²⁵ For I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, of this mystery, that ye may not be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the nations be come in; ²⁶ and so all Israel shall be saved. According as it is written, The deliverer shall come out of Zion; he shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. ²⁷ And this is the covenant from me to them, when I shall have taken away their sins. ²⁸ As regards the glad tidings, [they are] enemies on your account; but as regards election, beloved on account of the fathers. ²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God [are] not subject to repentance. ³⁰ For as indeed *ye* [also] once have not believed in God, but now have been objects of mercy through the unbelief of *these*; ³¹ so these also have now not believed in your mercy, in order that *they* also may be objects of mercy.

¹⁰ For this cause I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that *they* also may obtain the salvation which [is] in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
