¹³ (for not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

¹ And now, Israel, hearken to the statutes and to the ordinances which I teach you, to do [them], that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah the God of your fathers giveth you.

¹ And Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, Hear, Israel, the statutes and the ordinances that I speak in your ears this day, and learn them, and keep them to do them.

³ And thou shalt hear, Israel, and take heed to do [them]; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase greatly, as Jehovah the God of thy fathers hath said unto thee, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

¹² It is not in the heavens, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to the heavens, and bring it to us, that we should hear it and do it? ¹³ And it is not beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we should hear it and do it? ¹⁴ For the word is very near to thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

² And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight no man living shall be justified.

¹¹ And I gave them my statutes, and made known unto them mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live by them.

³⁰ And as for thee, son of man, the children of thy people keep talking of thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from Jehovah. ³¹ And they come unto thee as a people cometh, and they sit before thee [as] my people, and they hear thy words, but they do them not; for with their mouth they shew much love, [but] their heart goeth after their dishonest gain. ³² And behold, thou art unto them as a lovely song, a pleasant voice, and one that playeth well on an instrument; and they hear thy words, but they do them not. ³³ And when this cometh to pass (behold, it will come), then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

²¹ Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens. ²² Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power? ²³ and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness. ²⁴ Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock; ²⁵ and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. ²⁶ And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand; ²⁷ and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.

²¹ But he answering said to them, My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do [it].

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up tempting him, and saying, Teacher, having done what, shall I inherit life eternal? ²⁶ And he said to him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? ²⁷ But he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thine understanding; and thy neighbour as thyself. ²⁸ And he said to him, Thou hast answered right: this do and thou shalt live. ²⁹ But he, desirous of justifying himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

¹⁴ I say unto you, This [man] went down to his house justified rather than that [other]. For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

³⁹ and from all things from which ye could not be justified in the law of Moses, in him every one that believes is justified.

²⁵ For circumcision indeed profits if thou keep [the] law; but if thou be a law-transgressor, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.

²⁰ Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law [is] knowledge of sin.

²³ for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

³⁰ since indeed [it is] one God who shall justify [the] circumcision on the principle of faith, and uncircumcision by faith.

² For if Abraham has been justified on the principle of works, he has whereof to boast: but not before God; ³ for what does the scripture say? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. ⁴ Now to him that works the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but of debt: ⁵ but to him who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness.

⁵ For Moses lays down in writing the righteousness which is of the law, The man who has practised those things shall live by them.

¹⁶ but knowing that a man is not justified on the principle of works of law [nor] but by the faith of Jesus Christ, *we* also have believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified on the principle of [the] faith of Christ; and not of works of law; because on the principle of works of law no flesh shall be justified.

¹¹ but that by law no one is justified with God [is] evident, because The just shall live on the principle of faith; ¹² but the law is not on the principle of faith; but, He that shall have done these things shall live by them.

⁴ Ye are deprived of all profit from the Christ as separated [from him], as many as are justified by law; ye have fallen from grace.

²² But be ye doers of [the] word and not hearers only, beguiling yourselves. ²³ For if any man be a hearer of [the] word and not a doer, *he* is like to a man considering his natural face in a mirror: ²⁴ for he has considered himself and is gone away, and straightway he has forgotten what he was like. ²⁵ But *he* that fixes his view on [the] perfect law, that of liberty, and abides in [it], being not a forgetful hearer but a doer of [the] work, *he* shall be blessed in his doing.

²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and that by works faith was perfected. ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness, and he was called Friend of God. ²⁴ Ye see that a man is justified on the principle of works, and not on the principle of faith only. ²⁵ But was not in like manner also Rahab the harlot justified on the principle of works, when she had received the messengers and put [them] forth by another way?

²⁹ If ye know that he is righteous, know that every one who practises righteousness is begotten of him.

⁷ Children, let no man lead you astray; he that practises righteousness is righteous, even as *he* is righteous.
