⁴⁶ But if they sin against thee, (for there is no man who sinneth not) and thou being angry, deliver them up to their enemies, so that they be led away captives into the land of their enemies, far or near;

³⁴ Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths all the days of her desolation. They shall fall, when no man pursueth them. ³⁷ And they shall every one fall upon their brethren as fleeing from wars: none of you shall dare to resist your enemies. ³⁸ You shall perish among the Gentiles: and an enemy's land shall consume you. ³⁹ And if of them also some remain, they shall pine away in their iniquities, in the land of their enemies: and they shall be afflicted for the sins of their fathers, and their own.

²⁶ I call this day heaven and earth to witness, that you shall quickly perish out of the land, which, when you have passed over the Jordan, you shall possess. You shall not dwell therein long, but the Lord will destroy you, ²⁷ And scatter you among all nations, and you shall remain a few among the nations, to which the Lord shall lead you.

³⁶ The Lord shall bring thee, and thy king, whom thou shalt have appointed over thee, into a nation which thou and thy fathers know not: and there thou shalt serve strange gods, wood and stone.

⁶⁴ The Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the farthest parts of the earth to the ends thereof: and there thou shalt serve strange gods, which both thou art ignorant of and thy fathers, wood and stone. ⁶⁵ Neither shalt thou be quiet, even in those nations, nor shall there be any rest for the sole of thy foot. For the Lord will give thee a fearful heart, and languishing eyes, and a soul consumed with pensiveness: ⁶⁶ And thy life shall be as it were hanging before thee. Thou shalt fear night and day, neither shalt thou trust thy life. ⁶⁷ In the morning thou shalt say: Who will grant me evening? and at evening: Who will grant me morning? for the fearfulness of thy heart, wherewith thou shalt be terrified, and for those things which thou shalt see with thy eyes. ⁶⁸ The Lord shall bring thee again with ships into Egypt, by the way whereof he said to thee that thou shouldst see it no more. There shalt thou be set to sale to thy enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

²⁸ And he hath cast them out of their land, in anger and in wrath, and in very great indignation, and hath thrown them into a strange land, as it is seen this day.

⁶ And in the ninth year of Osee, the king of the Assyrians took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria: and he placed them in Hala, and Habor, by the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes.

¹⁸ And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them from his sight, and there remained only the tribe of Juda.

²³ Till the Lord removed Israel from his face, as he had spoken in the hand of all his servants, the prophets: and Israel was carried away out of their land to Assyria, unto this day.

²¹ And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Reblatha, in the land of Emath: so Juda was carried away out of their land.

⁴ Who can make him clean that is conceived of unclean seed? is it not thou who only art?

¹⁴ What is man that he should be without spot, and he that is born of a woman that he should appear just? ¹⁵ Behold among his saints none is unchangeable, and the heavens are not pure in his sight. ¹⁶ How much more is man abominable, and unprofitable, who drinketh iniquity like water?

^{12 (19:13)} Who can understand sins? from my secret ones cleanse me, O Lord:

³ If thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities: Lord, who shall stand it.

² And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight no man living shall be justified.

⁹ Who can say: My heart is clean, I am pure from sin?

^{20 (7:21)} For there is no just man upon earth, that doth good, and sinneth not.

⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray, every one hath turned aside into his own way: and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

⁶ And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

⁷ To thee, O Lord, justice: but to us confusion of face, as at this day to the men of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, to them that are near, and to them that are far off, in all the countries whither thou hast driven them, for their iniquities, by which they have sinned against thee. ⁸ O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our princes, and to our fathers, that have sinned. ⁹ But to thee, the Lord our God, mercy and forgiveness, for we have departed from thee: ¹⁰ And we have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord, our God, to walk in his law, which he set before us by his servants, the prophets. ¹¹ And all Israel have transgressed thy law, and have turned away from hearing thy voice, and the malediction, and the curse, which is written in the book of Moses, the servant of God, is fallen upon us, because we have sinned against him. ¹² And he hath confirmed his words which he spoke against us, and against our princes that judged us, that he would bring in upon us a great evil, such as never was under all the heaven, according to that which hath been done in Jerusalem. ¹³ As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: and we entreated not thy face, O Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and think on thy truth. ¹⁴ And the Lord hath watched upon the evil, and hath brought it upon us: the Lord, our God, is just in all his works which he hath done: for we have not hearkened to his voice.

²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword and shall be led away captives into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles till the times of the nations be fulfilled.

¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law speaketh, it speaketh to them that are in the law: that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may be made subject to God.

²³ For all have sinned and do need the glory of God.

²² But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise, by the faith of Jesus Christ, might be given to them that believe.

² For in many things we all offend. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man. He is able also with a bridle to lead about the whole body.

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquity. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar: and his word is not in us.
