³ Forbidding to marry, to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving by the faithful and by them that have known the truth.

²⁹ And God said: Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed upon the earth, and all trees that have in themselves seed of their own kind, to be your meat: ³⁰ And to all beasts of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to all that move upon the earth, and wherein there is life, that they may have to feed upon. And it was so done.

³ And every thing that moveth, and liveth shall be meat for you: even as the green herbs have I delivered them all to you:

¹³ As soon as you come into the city, you shall immediately find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat till he come; because he blesseth the victim, and afterwards they eat that are invited. Now, therefore, go up, for to day you shall find him.

^{18 (5:17)} This therefore hath seemed good to me, that a man should eat and drink, and enjoy the fruit of his labour, wherewith he hath laboured under the sun, all the days of his life, which God hath given him: and this is his portion.

³⁷ And he shall make no account of the God of his fathers: and he shall follow the lust of women, and he shall not regard any gods: for he shall rise up against all things.

¹⁹ And when he had commanded the multitude to sit down upon the grass, he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

³⁶ And taking the seven loaves and the fishes, and giving thanks, he brake, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples gave to the people.

³⁰ And it came to pass, whilst he was at table with them, he took bread and blessed and brake and gave to them.

²³ But other ships came in from Tiberias, nigh unto the place where they had eaten the bread, the Lord giving thanks.

³¹ Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed. ³² And you shall know the truth: and the truth shall make you free.

¹³ And there came a voice to him: Arise, Peter. Kill and eat. ¹⁴ But Peter said: Far be it from me. For I never did eat any thing that is common and unclean. ¹⁵ And the voice spoke to him again the second time: That which God hath cleansed, do not thou call common.

³⁵ And when he had said these things, taking bread, he gave thanks to God in the sight of them all. And when he had broken it, he began to eat.

³ Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not: and he that eateth not, let him not judge him that eateth. For God hath taken him to him.

⁶ He that regardeth the day regardeth it unto the Lord. And he that eateth eateth to the Lord: for he giveth thanks to God. And he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not and giveth thanks to God.

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink: but justice and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

¹³ Meat for the belly and the belly for the meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord: and the Lord for the body.

²⁸ But if thou take a wife, thou hast not sinned. And if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned: nevertheless, such shall have tribulation of the flesh. But I spare you.

³⁶ But if any man think that he seemeth dishonoured with regard to his virgin, for that she is above the age, and it must so be: let him do what he will. He sinneth not if she marry. ³⁷ For he that hath determined, being steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but having power of his own will: and hath judged this in his heart, to keep his virgin, doth well. ³⁸ Therefore both he that giveth his virgin in marriage doth well: and he that giveth her not doth better. ³⁹ A woman is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth: but if her husband die, she is at liberty. Let her marry to whom she will: only in the Lord.

⁸ But meat doth not commend us to God. For neither, if we eat, shall we have the more: nor, if we eat not, shall we have the less.

³⁰ If I partake with thanksgiving, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? ³¹ Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatsoever else you do, do all to the glory of God.

¹⁶ Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of a festival day or of the new moon or of the sabbaths,

²⁰ If then you be dead with Christ from the elements of this world, why do you yet decree as though living in the world? ²¹ Touch not: taste not: handle not. ²² Which all are unto destruction by the very use, according to the precepts and doctrines of men. ²³ Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in superstition and humility, and not sparing the body; not in any honour to the filling of the flesh.

¹⁷ All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

^{13 (2:12)} But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of God, for that God hath chosen you firstfruits unto salvation, in sanctification of the spirit and faith of the truth: ^{14 (2:13)} Whereunto also he hath called you by our gospel, unto the purchasing of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴ Who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be rejected that is received with thanksgiving:

⁴ Marriage honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. For fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

⁹ Be not led away with various and strange doctrines. For it is best that the heart be established with grace, not with meats: which have not profited those that walk in them.
